Oh my! Where have you been Ivy Layne and why have I never heard of you until now? I adore romance, completely addicted to mystery and suspense, and totally smitten with courageous, protective, alpha, bad boy heroes, so when I can find it all in one great read, I'm in heaven! And that's exactly what Ivy Layne delivered in The Billionaire's Angel! This may have been my first time reading Layne's work but it certainly won't be my last.
The Billionaire's Angel's is a riveting, fast-paced, easy-to-follow, exceptionally well crafted, full-length standalone novel filled to the brim with danger, drama, mystery, intrigue, suspense, dreamy romance and steamy sex. The narrative is beautifully written in the first person with clearly defined his and her perspectives. The dialogue is smart, snappy, well-executed, sometimes humorous, and flows effortlessly. But as much as I love the plot, premise, and technical aspects of the story, it's the characters who literally exploded from the pages, came to life, and completely captured my heart. I was immediately drawn into this heartwarming tale by the two protagonists, beautiful Sophie Armstrong and handsome billionaire Gage Winters. Sophie is haunted by memories of her past but is finally putting the pieces of her life back together after finding employment with the wealthy Winters family of Atlanta as a live-in nurse for 78-year-old Amelia Winters. Gage is a former Army Ranger and Special Forces veteran who has come back home after a ten-year absence to recover from physical as well as emotional injuries sustained while being held as a prisoner of war and tortured for 6 months. Unfortunately, in addition to post traumatic stress resulting from his capture, he also has personal tragedy and ghosts from his past life at Winter House to deal with as well. At first glance, these two lost, lonely, desolate souls appear to be complete opposites but in reality, they're much more alike than either initially realize, but it doesn't take long for Sophie and Gage to feel the simmering, irresistible attraction between them. As they find comfort in each other's arms, both are irrevocably drawn into a web of mystery, suspense, danger, and an undeniable fate. Sparks fly! Attraction builds! Passion explodes! Oh my! It was fabulous and so swoon-worthy!
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! I enjoyed everything about this story but especially the characters, Sophie, Gage, and let's not forget 78-year-old Amelia. The elderly but ever-bubbly and mischievous Amelia provided the comic relief for this sexy romp and was such a hoot! Loved her! Would I recommend it? OMG, yes! But only for adult readers since it does contain some violence, past physical abuse, adult language, several heavy make-out sessions and, of course, quite a few steamy, dreamy but tastefully done sex scenes. Hubba! Hubba! Will I read this author again? Abso-freakin-lutely! I raced back to Amazon and snagged the first book of the series and can hardly wait to dive in! As I stated earlier in my review, this is a full-length book in the Scandals of the Bad Boy Billionaires Series and can be read as a standalone. However, it's quite obvious there is an underlying conflict with an interconnected plot thread running throughout the series involving the Winters family, but I had no problem at all keeping up with the Gage and Sophie's story. And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

It was good but not great.
I loved Gage, barely tolerated Sophie.
It was all just too instalovey, too fast and just too easy for my liking.
I like a good built-up, a nice slow burn.
Here the characters were sniffing each other's butts right from the get-go in chapter one.
So when it comes to the romance department, it just wasn't what I like.
When it comes to the characters, it's like i said before. I did love Gage, he was protective and sweet despite the fact he went through hell and back.
But Sophie was so freaking annoying, I wanted to holler.
She was weak, whiney and kinda pathetic.
And as a woman who came from an abusive marriage, she was way too trusting in my modest opinion.
And say what you want, but when a character says one thing and then does the complete opposite, that's a definition of weakness.
Well, at least in my dictionary.
She kept rambling on how it was wrong to get involved with Gage, how inappropriate it would be, that he was kinda her boss yada yada yada. And then, without even batting an eyelash, she jumped his bones.
Zero remorse, zero thoughts, zero consequences.
I hated that. And for that reason I couldn't stand her.
She annoyed me nine ways to Sunday.
I did finish this book but I was kinda hoping for sth different.
I think Anthony was an interesting character, despite the fact he was a psychopath.
Or maybe because he was a psychopath. LOL.
To be completely frank, I am waiting for Aiden's story.
He's fascinated me right from book one.
So I am hopeful.
Really, really hopeful.
Because I do love this series. And the entire family.
And I wanna know who the murderer is. And who was sneaking inside their house.
All in all, that was a good romantic suspense but nothing that would floor me.
It was good but not great.

Gage has endured more in his life than anyone should have to. First his parents were murdered and then years later while he was living with his aunt and uncle they were murdered as well. At 18 he enlisted in the army and was held captive and tortured before he made it home 13 years later.
Sophie is a widow and she is the caregiver to his Aunt Amelia. She was in an abusive marriage and was happy to see the terror end.
Both Gage and Sophie still feel the effects of insomnia and PTSD and they connect during the nights when neither can sleep and they know more about each other than anyone else in their lives. He makes her feel safe for the first time in her life and she relaxes him from the demons that haunt him.
This story has a great combination of suspense, humor and romance that you don’t want to miss. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

This was my least favorite of this series so far. The story just didn't work for me, and both the H and h had traumas that were treated too lightly and were far too easily overcome, especially the h. The intrusion of the cast of secondary characters and subplots took away from developing the connection and romance between the main couple.

The romance did not work for me. It was hard for me to believe that these two broken people with their pasts were so quick with their feelings for each other.

Gage had been gone from home a long time. To come back and find that he can't sleep and the sense of nothingness. He tries to engage his cousin only to be evaded. Gage finds an angle one night in the mansion. Although Sophie would not describe herself that way. She feels a sense of escape. She finds respite in the home of a wealthy family. She finds a friendship with a mischief old lady. She finds content in the arms of a man she should not want. Gage and Sophie find that they complete each other. But someone has different plans for the two of them and the rest of the family also.
There still continues the underlying mystery of who and why some things keep happening. Who keeps leaving the pictures? Who keeps sneaking in to the house? Why? How? Will this drag through to the very last book of the series or will we get some closure. Or just more bread crumbs. I still think its someone very close to the family.
The audio of this book was smooth, clean, clear, and complementary to the read itself.

I enjoyed this read, it is the 7th book in the series. I went by quick and it was more about the plot. Sophie is an angel and I loved her character. The past is what kept her from being happy. I loved how Gage (mmc) he knew he needed to protect what was precious to him and I loved all of that. I do admit the plot could have been more, but this read was a quick read for something different. But it did lead over to Annalise story and troubles which is the next book read. Gage & Sophie both had hardships and needed each other to get past it and it was what I needed. I read this on Kindle Unlimited btw.

I really enjoy the Winter Family. They have lost so much and stayed strong. Gage Winter is suffering PSD when he returns after twelve years in the Army. Sophie is working as a nurse for the Winter’s elderly Aunt. Sophie has survived an abusive marriage only escaping when her husband dies in a tragic car accident. Gage and Sophie have an instant connection though they really are unprepared for what fate has in store for them. I love Aunt Amelia she is a real handful with her many pranks. This book made me laugh out loud. I was really happy to see Gage and Sophie get their happy ending.

Gage Winters and Sophie Armstrong are both broken with pasts that would make others cringe, but they are both survivors and they find each other when they both need it. Steamy, and just the right kind of love. A must read!

Gage & Sophia. 2 characters suffering from PTSD.
After finding his aunt & uncle murdered (while he was in the house sulking) Gage runs off and joins the Army. He works up to some sort of special forces (but we never really get any details on what all he did). He gets captured and is held for 6 mo (tortured, starved, isolated, etc) before escaping and returning home after 12 years.
Sophie married a good man who ended up being a monster. He was crazy AF. He would beat Sophie regularly and was holding her in the house and not letting her leave. He had no interest in her sexually. Instead, he beat on her as a way to "keep the darkness away". Uhhhhhhh.....After trying to escape and ending up almost beaten to death she just gave up on leaving and focused on surviving. She gets word that her husband, the charmer, died in a car crash. She was freed and went to work as a companion/nurse to the Winters' aunt Amelia (I like her. She was fiery and into pranks. She wasn't going to sit around and wilt away).
Gage sees Sophie one night in the library and thought she was an intruder and captured her. She managed to calm him and let her go. She was his Angel. Both have issues sleeping and commiserate in the middle of the night. It's almost like they were going on dates but it was in the house while everyone else was sleeping (drinking tea, sharing chocolate cake, him getting hammered on the anniversary of his aunt and uncles murder).
Someone breaks into the house and knocks Sophie unconscious (she was up and getting tea) then runs off. Gage finds her and after checking the house (not sure how the intruder got in the house with their security system) takes her to her room and decides he needs to be in close proximity to "protect" her (i.e. he gets in her bed). He's an amazing protector given her moans. But great sex still doesn't help either with their sleeping issues.
After Aiden and the Sinclair security team couldn't figure out how the intruder got around the security system, they set up motion sensors just in case someone breaks in again. The house is awakened when the motion sensors are set off and someone breaks a window. Seems our intruder wasn't aware there were the motion detectors and had broken into the house and tried stealing love letters written to Gage's mom (the one who supposedly had a baby before she married James, Gage and clan's dad and gave the baby up for adoption) from someone they assumed was the mystery father of the adopted baby.
After this break in, Gage decides he needs to move into Sophie's room. The cat is kinda out on their relationship (they aren't great at hiding their feelings). More protection without protection (she tells him she has an IUD). IDK if I'm impressed or just confused because this is one of the very few authors that even mentions our men putting on condoms and afterwards disposing of them. She's taking the awkward part of using protection and showing that it doesn't kill the mood. Anyways...Gage decides to take Sophie out on a real date for lunch and hanging out running errands.
She receives a phone call from a mystery number and when she answers she hears her dead husband's voice. She freezes and freaks out (I mean he was such a quality guy while they were married). Back at the house a couple of days later, someone shows up with information about her dead husband. When they open the door, SURPRISE!!!! He never died (he had been in witness protection to testify against these mob like criminals that he worked for) and he's back to take his wife home because she has some darkness she needs to attend to for him. Yeah...Gage wouldn't let her be taken away. Aiden sent him away and they informed him she would be seeking a divorce.
Her loving husband didn't want a divorce and couldn't kidnap her from the Winters house so he ends up kidnapping aunt Amelia and threatening to kill her if Sophie doesn't come to him in trade. Finally, we have a heroine that doesn't act on impulse. She works with Sinclair security, Gage and Aiden to form a plan to not only save aunt Amelia but also keep Sophie safe. With a plan in place and not going off script (so not typical in books) she is able to get her hubby in a position where the security team could safely shoot him (IOW - not to kill) and contain the situation. Lovey hubby tells Sophie (she also had on a wire) that while he was in protection he tried using other women to contain the darkness but they didn't work like she could so he killed them. He ends up going to jail and is murdered by the family that he testified against. Gage proposes to Sophie and she accepts. HEA!!!

Sophie was also a new character in the story so like Book 6 Noah/Ella, I just didn't know them. I was more drawn to Sophie (given her life with her husband) than I was Gage. Good story but I felt like they could've spent a little more time on the ending and less on them getting to know each other.

1st things first - I love this series. I love the Winters Family.
I am very curious about the sub-plot that intertwines in every story of the murders
of the parents. Who is sending the clues to each family member?
Why did it happen? For most books in the series the opening of the story pulls me in immediately.
Nothing better than a spark between two individuals to get things started. A hot initial introduction in the library.
Then - the beginning of this story continues with a lot of details to introduce the audience to Gage and Sophie.
Once the groundwork is laid in the first few chapters. The humor and suspense begin. I loved the ride. Reading about 2 weddings and 'seeing'

the progress of the story. Love how the last sister/cousin is introduced in this book. Her story appears to be next and the

I am very curious about the sub-plot that intertwines in every story of the murders
of the parents. Who is sending the clues to each family member?
Why did it happen? For most books in the series the opening of the story pulls me in immediately.
Nothing better than a spark between two individuals to get things started. A hot initial introduction in the library.
Then - the beginning of this story continues with a lot of details to introduce the audience to Gage and Sophie.
Once the groundwork is laid in the first few chapters. The humor and suspense begin. I loved the ride. Reading about 2 weddings and 'seeing'

Only because the romance was quite nice, I gave 2 stars. The rest of the book is another convoluted, round and round Scooby Doo Mystery. I hate that 'romance writers' feel romance is not enough. They have to try their hand at murder/mystery/mayhem nonsense.
I find it an enormous headache, and usually just delete it before the mafia, hitmen, cartel, witness protection, kidnapping, stupidity rampage is in full blown spasm.
I did finish this one because the romance was so good, and the hea was great. I can't think why the writer couldn't just leave it at that.

I would really love to go back and read the rest of the Winters family saga. This book was amazing. i loved the chemistry between Gage and Sophie. They both had horrible, life-altering things happen in their pasts, which made their coming together so much sweeter. Amelia was such a crack-up. I suspect she was the smartest one yet. Great steamy romance! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Sleepless Nights
I like how Gage and Sophie connected through unfortunate circumstances but still managed to find love in each other. Amelia is quite the prankster and Sophie has her hands filled with her and it was too funny how she had Gage and Aiden fighting at Tate and Emily's wedding reception. I still say that I think that William was responsible for the deaths of their parents and the adopted son's father.

I have two complaints about this book, not enough to lower the rating though. I loved how we get to know Gage and understand where he’s coming from. It also explains a lot with where he’s been and how he’s spent his time. I’m still not quite sure how Sophie got a job at Winters House but her story is really heartbreaking as well. I loved Gage and Sophie together, they just understood each other and knew their demons were a part of them. Instead of covering them up and denying they exist, they share it with each other and explain how it came to be that way. There wasn’t really anything both held back from each other which was really nice. They soothed each other and were always there, never leaving the other’s side. It helped that Gage spent most of his time in the house like she did so they could comfort and protect each other. It was very romantic but at the same time this brings me to one of the complaints I mentioned earlier. I felt like Gage relied more on Sophie than she for him. It was different and I wasn’t used to a man counting on a woman so intensely. I admire that Gage’s heart wasn’t broken by a past relationship resulting in not wanting to dive into commitment. However, I still think he could have depended on himself for some of his emotions instead of using Sophie as a form of crutch. Anything she did, he needed to be there with her and refused to leave her alone. He was also a bit dramatic and jumped to conclusions without getting the full story. Throughout the book, he’s convinced Aiden is interested in Sophie and wouldn’t even let her be in a room alone with him. This was a bit redundant and I found it hard to believe he didn’t believe Sophie and Aiden that nothing was going on between them. Just reading their interactions with each other and you know it’s all business and family related. Ok so maybe I miscounted, adding this to my list of complaints would make it finish at three. My last complaint is when someone from Sophie’s past turns up, after being so sure the person was dead felt unrealistic to me. The explanation Ivy went with was that the person was away in protection and faked a death. This was ridiculous to me, especially how hard it was nailed into us that the person has been gone for 2 years. While I’m sure the secret service does do things like that, I’d like to think that it would be the last straw and wouldn’t be used as an option unless a person is really, truly in danger. Other than those three things, I really enjoyed the book and liked how it kept me emotionally invested with the deep connection between Gage and Sophie, plus the growing mystery of the Winters Family. It was the second book I think I’ve read in this series that has the hero falling first, hard and fast and I enjoyed the ride. I don’t know how I feel about Annalise’s story next, maybe it will shed some light on her stalker and reveal more about the family’s scandal but it seems like it will be a story of misunderstanding.

The Billionaire's Pet, by Ivy Layne is a 342-page contemporary romance novel and is the seventh book out of a 10-part series (other reviews can be found below). And since this is a 10-part series, you can expect reviews by this author pretty back to back for the next few weeks as I go through the books. It is written from a first-person POV, two-side.
Ivy Layne is an author who generally writes dirty, dirty sex scenes. So if you're someone who is looking for some dirty read (which there is nothing wrong with that) this is the book for you. I will warn you ahead of time if you are reading this series, this book in particular had A LOT of sex...almost too much for my liking.

What pulls Sophie and Gage together? They both have PTSD.
Sophie from being in a terrible marriage with a man who romanced her into believing he was something he was not then locking her up after they were married. Not in the sense of a jail cell, but he made her quit her job and basically moved her into a compound. Every time she tried to escape or leave a guard would bring her back to the house. Her husband also had violent tendencies and would return home and beat her. Little did she know but he was a money man for the mob. When he died she felt free, but she still had nightmares and struggled sleeping after she left the house where he held her captive. She went and got her life back. She returned to nursing, but decided to only do small and live in type situations, so she moved in with the Winters to take care of their great aunt Amelia. While living there she met Gage.
Gage Winters is returning home after being away for over ten years in the military. Everyone always thought he would be running the Winters company with his cousin Aiden, but after Aiden's parents were killed he just couldn't stay. He had never planned to be away for as long as he had, but after his last tour in the Middle East where he was captured and tortured for months by enemies he came home. Of course, he also has problems sleeping and when he met Sophie, he knew they needed each other. They both agreed to seek professional help together. The rub comes in when Sophie's husband returns from the dead and kidnaps her.
All in all, it ended as you'd expect, Sophie is saved by the Feds and Gage (acting as sniper), her husband goes to jail and ends up going to jail. Her ex-husband had faked his death after turning over evidence against his employers, so he didn't last in jail for too long before he was "mysteriously killed". The one thing that I wish had happened is Sophie had some kind of resolution with her family. In the book, her father essentially disowned her because she married the ex.
In summary, I give this a 3 out of 5.

Just when you think a series couldn't get any better, along comes another book and every one is even better than the last. Like all the stories in this series, The Billionaire’s Angel can be read as a standalone book, but if you read them in sequence you’ll get background and a catch up to the other characters, plus more clues relating to two tragic events when the Winters were children. I'm avoiding specific details on this in my review because I don't want to include spoilers. If you want to understand this better start at The Billionaire's Pet, or even better at the beginning of the series.
The Billionaire’s Angel introduced two new characters to me. Gage, who had been away on military service in previous books, returns to live in Winters’ House. Sophie is part nurse, part companion, part wrangler who has moved in to keep mischief loving Aunt Amelia in good health and out of serious trouble.
Sophie’s ex was very controlling and she is still suffering the after effects of an abusive relationship. Gage ,after joining the military at 18 and serving 13 years for his country, including capture and torture, has his own demons to fight. Both suffer from insomnia and wandering around the house at night brings them together. Throw in some mutual attraction, intrigue, lovable but naughty Aunt Amelia and her pranks, gripping writing and you have yourself an excellent page turner. I like a slower burn romance, with more to the story than just insta-lust with little plot, so the mystery element and Sophie and Gage’s back stories made this a perfect read for me. I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one sitting. Now I can’t wait for the next book in the series. As ever with Ivy Layne’s books, the writing is self assured and the proof reading first class so there is nothing to distract you from the excellent storytelling.

Another Winters Winner
Gage Winters comes back home to Atlanta, having served 13 years in the military, most recently in Special Forces, and having been taken prisoner for the last 6 months, until his escape. Gage had run off and joined the military a few days after his aunt and uncle's murders. Gage's continuing guilt over not being able to save his aunt and uncle and leaving the siblings and cousins he'd grown up with, after his own parents' very similar murders a decade before, was the reason he couldn't return earlier. He knew his cousin, Aiden, resented him, as his actions forced Aiden to have to take on the responsibility for all the children and the family business, even though he was virtually the same age as Gage.
Sophie Armstrong was the live in nurse, hired 6 months ago to help elderly Aunt Amelia, upon her move into Winters House. She is escaping her own demons, having been released from an extremely abusive marriage 2 years earlier, by the untimely death of her monster of a husband.
The PTSD these two survivors share helps them both to understand and help one another. It also assists in forging their eventual relationship. I liked the manner in which the author incorporated their individual traumas when describing actions and reactions on each of their parts. It was done in a manner that truly added to the story.
I am really enjoying this series and the way in which each builds on all those that came before it. You get the sense of family with more familiar members meandering in and out of each book, the history of newer members being introduced in person having been previously presented, some issues and mysteries being resolved, others being continued and some new ones being raised.
For these reasons, I would strongly recommend that any reader new to this series begin it from the start. Although I'm reasonably sure any of these books could be read as a standalone, you will be missing out on so much if you choose to read them alone or out of order.

I find myself, once again, late to another party, and boy Ivy Layne's party was AWESOME! Although I'm only two book in, including The Billionaire's Angel, I'm fully addicted at this time. Gage Winters joined the army and left home after a family tragedy broke him, and he hasn't been home other than here and there in years. After getting himself free from torture while being a captive for 6 months, he's a different man with the weight of the world more firmly planted on his shoulders. Sophie Armstrong is a family member's nurse, and he can tell that she suffers from a painful past as well, but she somehow calms all of the darkness that surrounds him, and they find that they can't stay away from each other. So when her past comes back for her, will he be able to save her? WOW! I absolutely devoured this cover to cover in one sitting. Not only was this story filled with angst, with a side of romance, but the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time, and I still think there are questions still out there that need to be answered. I really have taken to Ivy Layne's talented writing style, as she writes easy to love, amazing characters with depth, on top of a highly addictive, and fast paced story line, which was front & center in this story! Not to mention her colorful cast of secondaries made for some perfectly placed humor, (Older lady with pranks) that kept me rolling in laughter in between the edge of my seat twists. And if all of that were perfect enough, the fiery flames of sexy times will melt panties everywhere. I cannot wait to read more by this author, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I was given an arc in exchange of an honest review and I must say that this book is absolutely amazing. I was nailed down by the story and couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Gage has come back home after 12yrs from his uncle’s and aunt’s murder. He is psychologically damaged owing to a trauma occurred to him while on a mission . When he comes back he will meet his aunt’s nurse who is also in the same condition as him after being mentally and physically abused by her husband for so many years. Their mutual acquaintance will grow into something much bigger than what they could deal and Sophie will finally start living her life like a human being. Things may seem to be going straight for once but….I don’t want to spoil the reader’s surprise so I will stop here even if I would like to say more. Just a quick description of the characters. Gage is an outstanding and handsome man whose main purpose is to keep his woman safe. Sophie, on the other hand, is unaware of her angelic beauty and grace but this is due to the fact that her husband was a real jerk who used her for his own means. Fortunately she has Gage whose main goal is to worship this extraordinary lady for the rest of her life. I must admit that among all Ivy’s books written in this series, this one is without any doubt my favorite. The love I felt as I read through the pages has left me breathless. I really recommend this book.

Once again, I’ve stepped into a series right smack dab in the middle of it, or in this case, I’ve started on book number seven. Lucky right? I like to think so, I really enjoyed this book with a story about two damaged souls who end up getting together.
Sophie is a nurse who was in a horribly abusive marriage. Her husband kept her prisoner during their entire marriage. It wasn’t until he died in a car accident that she was finally free. She is now working for the Winters family taking care of their lovable, free-spirited, prank loving, 80 year old aunt Amelia. Sophie often gets drawn into helping Amelia plan out her pranks and has to keep the diabetic woman from over-indulging on sweets.
Gage Winters is the cousin of her employer Aiden. He’s come home after being away from the family since he was 18. He is ex-Special Forces and was a prisoner of the enemy for months, so he’s dealing with PTSD and nightmares.
Both Gage and Sophie find themselves unable to sleep at night because of their nightmares keeping them awake, so they get to know each other. But Sophie has had some incidents happen to her, and it is starting to look like they are all connected. Gage may just lose his new love just when he finds her.
This was a truly excellent read, with engaging main and secondary characters. The suspense level was just right, though I’d pretty much sleuthed who was after Sophie.I do plan on reading the rest of this series!

The Billionaire's Angel by Ivy Layne is book 6 in the Scandals of the bad boys series and is a 5 star read.
Sophie Armstrong is a nurse working for the Winters family looking after their 78 year old aunt Amelia, who is full of mischief and loves playing practical jokes and often ropes Sophie into helping her. Sophie is suffering from insomnia due to the nightmares that she has resulting from her abusive marriage which ended 3 years previous when her husband died in a car wreck.
Gage Winters ran from his family at 18 after the deaths of his aunt and uncle that were similar to the deaths of his parents years before, he joined the military and mostly stayed away from home for the next 13 years, after being captured by the enemy and tortured before escaping Gage in now home and looking to get on with his life but he is suffering from PTSD and has insomnia, after finding Sophie wandering the house in the middle of the night Gage starts to realise that not is all as it seems in the house or with Sophie.
I loved Gage and Sophie's story, the author pulled me in and knew how to keep me there. I also have to say that I loved aunt Amelia she really brought a lot to the story and had me smiling at her antics.

Sophie worked for 78 year old Amelia Winters who was Aiden's great-aunt and lived with him. Aiden's cousin Gage had just come home from the military. Gage had been captured and tortured for six months before ha came home. He couldn't sleep much because of the nightmares. Sophie had nightmares also and didn't sleep much. Her dead husband used to abuse her, beat her, and threaten her. She tried to escape twice, but she paid dearly for it. He died two years ago, but she still felt threatened. Gage caught her in a room downstairs late at night and held onto to her. She was scared at first, but then felt safe with his arms around her. She couldn't understand that at first because she had not been with a man since her dead husband.
I loved this book. It has mystery, suspense, and romance with laughter. Gage and Aiden's great aunt Amelia is a real prankster and keeps people laughing. Gage and Sophie were so good for each other, and were able to grow strong through their love. There were things going on in the house that was unexplainable that they had to call the Sinclair Security firm in to help. I also loved catching up with characters from previous books. I love the Winters family saga. This is the seventh book and it is a standalone but my opinion is that you should read them all. They are a great read and the stories are all very enjoyable. I like that there are updates on the previous characters in each book. You follow along with them.
The story is about Gage that is an alpha male. He is a bit to the silent side but very charming and sexy when he wants to be. Gage has been in the military and he now comes home. He is a broken from his time when he got tortured.
Sophie is a nurse that works for the aunt of the family. She is divorced and finally free to live her life. Her dead husbond was very abusive towards her.
Both main characters have lived through a lot and has to deal with PTSD and this makes them pull towards another. Their life experience makes them have a lot of common things. Their attraction and chemistry develops and is just amazing. This chemistry and the survivor instinct makes them a great couple.
This book has laughter, intrigues, drama, mystery, passion, chemistry, drama and romance. It has all what makes a good story.
I can only recommend this amazing story to others.

Over a decade, Gage Winters enlisted in the military after the murder of his aunt, uncle and both of his parents. While in the military he was capture behind enemy lines where he was tortured and even lived in a cage. After he was rescued, he returned home. Gage then tries to get his life back together and take his place back in the family company. Sofie Armstrong is a beautiful lady with the dark past. Sophie was previously married to a very abusive husband. He was killed in a car accident two years prior to her employment in the Winters family. She is the personal nurse of the most beloved and mischievous aunt Amelia. Gage's first encounter with Sophie is very up close and personal. From there the sexual tension is off the charts. Little by little Gage and Sophie start to heal each other from PTSD and try to move forward. This story mends hearts and give them both a chance to find true love. The storyline was excellent and the love scenes were hot. I would recommend this book for anyone that is going through a healing process and try to find true love as well. I voluntarily read this ARC for a honest review.

Excellent read
## Loved this book. I found it by chance and decided to give it a shot. So glad I did. I really enjoyed it. I loved how fiercely Gage wanted Sophie. He absolutely knew she was IT for him. Their chemistry was palpable. I did not know this was part of a series when I started, but after reading about some of the secondary characters, I figured it was. However, it stood alone just fine. At no time was I confused or left behind. Thank you to the author for not writing Gage as a manwhore. Man that gets old. Much appreciated. And the complete ending was a really nice reward for us readers. So thank you for that as well. It stinks when you've spent hours invested in a book and BAM "the end", when all it takes is a few paragraphs to tie things up and leave the reader completely satisfied. I will definitely be going back to check out the other books in the series.
FYI, no cliffhanger, no sex with others, no Barbie doll ex, no secret baby, no dead wife, and not inundated with errors (although it did refer to the dead husband as Anthony Anderson instead of Anthony Armstrong once, lol.)
