I just finished The Vicious Lost Boys by Nikki St. Crowe, and if you love dark, twisted fairytale retellings, this book is a wild ride! It’s definitely not the Peter Pan we all know. Instead, this version is gritty, sexy, and completely unapologetic in its darkness, which I found super refreshing.
Neverland in this book is dangerous and brutal, with Peter Pan and the Lost Boys being anything but innocent. I loved how Winnie Darling, the main character, isn’t just there to be saved—she’s strong, bold, and makes her own choices in this dark, seductive world. The tension between her and the Lost Boys is intense, and there’s a lot of power play in their relationships that really pushes the boundaries of dark romance.
One of the best parts for me was how the world-building still had that magical feel of Neverland but with a sinister twist. The magic here is darker, the threats feel real, and the stakes are much higher. It kept me hooked from start to finish.
The steamy scenes are definitely intense, and the story dives into some darker themes of dominance and submission, so it’s not for everyone. But if you’re into edgy, spicy retellings, this is such a bold take on Peter Pan, and I couldn’t put it down. The whole toxic love triangle had me completely invested.
It’s a fast, addictive read that really flips the classic story on its head, and I loved every minute of it!
