HELLVERINE is what happens when Wolverine gains the vengeful powers of Ghost Rider - and now he gets his very own solo series!
Because you demanded it — the return of the Hellverine! When a demonic force known as Bagra-Ghul first came to Earth, it brought Logan and Johnny Blaze together to hunt it before it possessed Wolverine and imbued him with the flaming-Adamantium-skulled power of a Ghost Rider! But now, in the present day, what event will put the Hellverine back on the streets? And is he slashing his hellfire claws for good or evil?

The Hellverine is back. I was not sure if that was a good thing or not. I am glad it is a good thing. I did not like the Hellverine in the Ghost Rider series, I thought it was a joke character that they were trying to, literally, catch fire. This book is a big stride in the right direction.
Project Hell Fire is back up and running. However, a new spirit of vengeance has emerged or re-emerged. The Hellverine is back but he is a little different and so are his targets. Now with a breakout of an experiment gone wrong, the Hellverine is their only hope but have they recruited the right Wolverine?
The book delivers what it should hellfire and violence. They also give a bit of redemption to a couple of characters that I just saw as nasty pieces of work and second-rate to the originals. The book finishes with a variant cover gallery and a sketchbook with character designs.
Coming off the crossover between Wolverine and Ghost Rider, Bagra-Ghul, a demonic force now freed from Logan, instead takes on the body of Logan's son Akihiro (previously known as Fang or Daken) and rides again as Hellverine! There's a confrontation by some agents of Project Hellfire (a kind of dumb excuse to have a corrupt government black ops organization) who have similar powers, but this Volume is all about getting Hellverine back in action, yet separate from Logan. I'm definitely on board. Can't wait to see what they can do with his own title. Recommend. Hopefully the start of something very good and long running.
We follow the US govt.. people.. experiments or revival of Project Hellfire and them desecrating the bodies of dead soldiers and making some weird monstrosities using hell stuff and then they turn against them automatically and we see a new Hellverine hunting them and they escape but then Logan is brought into the scene as they suspect its him, but twist: its DAKEN!
So we see how it happened and how he got resurrected and became Hellverine and its okay and fast kind of explanation but just seeing the way all of them are hunting these so called Destroyers (the above soldiers experimented on) and following one of them who went to their home and the story with his family and then Logan saving them and meanwhile Hellverine hunting these destroyers and Daken trying to understand whats happening!
And finally how it all clashes and seeing the dark origins and motives of the guy leading this new Project Hellfire aka General harms and his whole story and all characters leading to him, its an epic fight by the end with Logan-Daken teaming up and the other soldier being saved too and all that and the fate of this project and what comes next.. its a fun one and done 80s kind of movie inspired story and its awesome if you read it!!
It will be interesting to see where the character goes from here.. the idea is fun and it can actually expand on Daken's character tbh!
The idea of Hellverine is so very 90s crossed with the kind of superhero that a little kid comes up with. He's Wolverine's dead son, possessed by a demon that sets him on fire. And yet, here I am, enjoying this more than I did the Weapons of Vengeance crossover that created the original version of the character (Logan, rather than Daken) in the first place.
The basic plot is that yet another shady government agency is experimenting on dead soldiers to bring them back as demon-possessed monsters, and the demon now possessing Daken, after having been around Ghost Rider, is out to fight the good fight, even if it means killing lots of people along the way. It's a decent set-up, and the ultimate confrontation between Daken and Logan is worth the wait, with an almost hopeful ending.
Fun wolverine story involving some cool hellfire stuff. I am glad they made this adult because it actually had some gory panels here and there. I wont spoil the story but the hellfire project is really cool and the artwork for this was also hellish, as it should be. Certain Wolverine relatives are involved and I really liked seeing them as well, it added good twists and resolutions to the story. It has plenty of action and fights and that's just what you want in a wolverine story. Art is good but could be better.
Not great, but not terrible, either. About what you'd expect, I guess. Daken, Logan's son, is now the possessor of the demon Bagra-ghul that turns him into the Hellverine, basically Ghost Rider crossed with Wolverine. Daken and Logan face off against a shadowy government program focused on reanimating dead soldiers with hellfire. And that's basically it. The art's not the greatest, but it does the job.
I have to admit it...I am a sucker for mash up characters! This iteration of Ghost Rider/Wolverine is just a lot of fun! Hellverine (H) has to get 'bumped up' to a REALLY high level as far as Marvel characters and their perspective power levels! This trade collects the H four issue series. I will break down each issue separately.
Pretty solid series, Hellverine is inherently an insane idea that seemed to work last time and just somehow works again this time. Can’t wait to see it work again some day and how he’ll be used in the future. Nothing super special here, just some sick ass action and weird hell shit.
This book was just different. It felt more like an Indie comic book rather than a Marvel book which I am totally fine with. Probably one of the darkest stories I’ve ever read, with all the demonic stuff. Had to say a prayer after reading this 😂. Overall really good and super high in action!
4.5 This book and this version of Daken, even though the name Hellvarine is ridiculous, grew on me. Well done. I'd even argue a much needed and fitting makeover for Daken.
Bagra-Ghul is very close to the spirit of vengeance and it takes over Wolverine first but then finds a similar host. Hellfire backfires when it is harnessed. Reconciliation?
The writer for this has some good, twisted ideas. Project Hellfire is all too possible. Seems like just the type of project the government would try. Pretty glad it's not. Well done.
Some Marvelite’s supernatural wet dream. And a means of resurrecting Daken for no good reason. It’s delightfully violent at least. Not for the kiddies.
I seriously wanted to hate this. Hellverine was a stupid idea born of a bleak bit of Ghost Rider writing (can I blame Benjamin Percy?) However, they had some things happen in OTHER Benjamin Percy books (check out the Sabretooth War) that needed to be addressed.
Wolverine keeps coming back. His healing factor is pretty insane. The same can be said of his son, Daken. They've both been resurrected a few times and been declared dead how many times before? Sabretooth sliced Daken bits, but that can't be the end.
Welcome to a Wolverine family...reboot of sorts. Denied a Krakoan reboot, this works almost as well.
