Was hoping this would go further into breathing techniques and hypnobirthing… However, this is a really great book for FTMs! I really appreciate that it started with the science side of things like anatomy, hormones, etc. As this is my second baby on the way I feel like I did a lot of this research on my own already. If you don’t have the time or patience to do your own research this is a brilliant book. Also the illustrations a such a plus, loved those
This was the most informative collection of content presented in the most easily consumable manner that I have found during my pregnancy! Admittedly the Naked Doula is crunchier than I am, but there was so much content and options presented that I think it's a great tool no matter where you land on the crunchy spectrum. I feel so much more prepared having read this through pregnancy and preparing for birth and post-partum. It offered suggestions and research I hadn't been privy to before and provided a jumping off point for the conversations and planning I wouldn't have known where to start with.
Every pregnant woman needs to read this book. If you don’t want to take classes or think hypnobirthing is too hippy and not for you.. you’re wrong. This book advocates how all women should be educated and informed on their pregnancy, birth and beyond. Understand what’s really going on in your body, how to prepare for birth and understanding how important it is to know your choices. Women need to start taking control over their births and not letting the system control where and when they have their babies. Truly empowering
Yes, fight for the birth experience you want and take someone who will advocate for you when you're in pain and can't do it yourself. That's a simple message that was dragged along this book.
This is by far the best book I read in preparation for birth. It covers absolutely everything you need to know and it's very accessible and easy to digest. I'd highly recommend to any pregnant person, their partners and families.
