The sensational She-Hulk meets the savage She-Hulk! What will Jen Walters make of her old self in a bizarre tale featuring the Gopher? Will she meet her untimely end at the hands of the Man-Elephant, her archfoe Titania or the ruthless Rumbler?! Which fallen heroes will She-Hulk meet in a tour of the afterlife? And can she somehow smash the fourth wall back to the land of the living?! You'd better hope so, because Jen has a court date - with a host of super villains! Shulkie battles the Bi-Beast alongside her cousin, the Hulk, and shares adventures with Doc Samson, the Thing and Nosferata, the Dark Princess!
A bit of a bitter sweet end to the Sensational She-Hulk run. I think they did their best to salvage the She-Hulk brand in the mid 90s, but with changing times and the departure of John Byrne, it would have been a really hard task for She-Hulk to continue in the same manner.
That being said, I still liked how they capped it off. I wasn't a HUGE fan of the To Die And Live In L.A. story line, but I did like how they tied it back to The Savage She-Hulk with Zapper being a key player. It only felt rushed at the end when they realized their comics were getting canceled, but I still liked how they handled it.
The tacked on extra series that they included feel just that, tacked on. I get you need to fill the pages, and they are fun, but I don't really think they fill anything. The Doc Samson story line which has the full run was very interesting, but I don't think it needed to be included in a She-Hulk book. The one shot with Ben (The Thing) at least had more She-Hulk in it.
Even though the off the wall fourth wall breaking bombshell would stay in the late 80s and mid 90s, I still think this is a great iteration of the She-Hulk Character. But I'm I'm being honest, I like what other writers have done with her character more. Even though that fourth wall breaking light hearted, fun spirited She-Hulk will always be the core of her character.
