A thought-provoking collection of spiritual reflections echoing the lyricism of Leonard Cohen and the uplifting messages of Anne Lamott
Suspended by No String is for readers of all spiritual those who are consistently devout, those who aren’t sure what to believe, and those who may not be religious in the traditional sense but who nevertheless want to view the world as something other than a place of randomness and build a relationship with a force infinitely beyond themselves.
Like everything Peter puts his heart and mind to, "Suspended by No String" is brilliant! Whether you are listening to his songs, seeing him live on stage, reading his books, or lucky enough to share space and time with him as a coach, mentor, teacher, or friend, Peter takes you on a journey. I am grateful to have Peter's voice as a persistent presence on my path.
I just finished this latest work and feel the familiar call of creativity that always follows. You can read the book to find out how he frames the significance of the letter "A" is, but I will use it to emphasize the feelings and aspirations of being Alive, another consequence of glimpsing Peter's mind. One of the things that makes Peter's work so relatable is his habit of honest inquiry. When we are honest about our shadows as much as our light and can communicate the tensions they create, we touch something of the universal. In this way, all are seen.
"Suspended by No String" contains worlds of wisdom but the reader is never spoon-fed. Discovery is the joyful job of the reader. This is one of those books I will read at different times and gather different gems.
I have no doubt this book would mean a lot too many folks. It didn’t land with me, but that’s a me problem. It’s well written, and there are certainly pieces that I greatly enjoyed, but overall it didn’t hit exactly.
