The Hacker

Rate this book
Imagine being crazy, full of hate, and lethal. Imagine that you can stalk your victims from afar, electronically, and engage them without their knowledge. Imagine that you could peruse their personal records to set up the perfect kill. Imagine that you can trick them in love, on-line, by being all that you are not. The Hacker, an online serial killer, does this with impunity to victims of a certain vulnerability --that is until he takes the life of one who lives in the jurisdiction of Detective Harley Crawford and his sharp intern Detective Jan Stark. Crawford is eclipsing retirement and has little use for or interest in computers. That is all about to change as he and Jan go after the Hacker in this suspenseful thriller. Unexpectedly this process brings Jan, Crawford and Crawford's family directly in the Hacker's cross-hairs.

Ken Corre grabbed me from the first page and never let go. The idea of a killer who hides behind screens felt terrifyingly real, and the author doesn’t waste a second making that fear sink in. What really stood out to me was Detective Harley Crawford, a man on the edge of retirement, forced to confront a world he doesn’t understand. His struggle made the story feel personal, not just procedural. This book isn’t just a thriller it’s a warning about how vulnerable we all can be online.
