Montana cowboy Jake MacNeill knew that only the land lasted, while love was as reliable as a grinning rattlesnake. Heck, prairie fires were easier to handle than a woman. So why was he heeding an eerie siren call from the city, seeking a lady with angel eyes...?
Feisty Chicago caterer Kate O'Malley drew Jake like a horse to hay -- as if she'd once fed all the needs of his lonesome cowboy soul. Yet one look at this excitable filly would leave Jake bewildered ... haunting him with the legend of an ancestral passion pledged with a ring and an unfulfilled promise...
This Harlequin was a little bit different. It had an almost paranormal feel to the story. The story starts off in the past where we meet Jacob and Caitlyn. There is a bit of tragedy that separates the young couple and Jacob heads to Montana while Caitlyn stays in Chicago and marries an older man. Flash forward to a few generations later and Jake hears the call (on the wind or in his head??) that beckons him to Chicago after Kate finds a ring in some belongings in her basement. There he meets Kate Mallory literally by accident (which he caused). Is it fate that this couple meet or is some stronger force pulling them towards one another? You will have to read it to find out.
