Meet Me at the Altar #2

Ele disse sim (Me encontre no altar Livro 2)

Rate this book

It is so hard to pinpoint where this book went wrong for me. I think my biggest issue is with the characters. The main character is so plain- is so what people expect from women. She is quiet and polite, she apologizes after expressing any opinion, she cries at the drop of a hat, she is just such a doormat- a characteristic that she does not grow out of. Throughout the story, she allows herself to be walked all over and is praised for this quality. When she does express an opinion that is different from others around her she is placated without that other person acknowledging Leanna's opinion. So frustrating to be put in this character's headspace and unable to say what I would want to say. The love interest, while being more interesting than Leanna, is still a boring character. He is constantly apologizing to Leanna and "making up" with her for things that, in the real world, he should not have to feel bad about. For example, he apologizes for not reaching out to Leanna after having a family crisis. Leanna even contemplates leaving him during this incident, I guess, because he isn't giving her enough attention? This book just felt so unrealistic and promoted a lot of unhealthy relationship characteristics. It was simultaneously too sweet and unhealthy. Also, if you are looking for steamy scenes, this book is entirely clean (a feature that I have found a lot of romances in southern settings share). Personally, this was not the book for me.

Oh my gosh, the misunderstandings lol. Lea and Brody had to learn to talk to each other. Lea helped him realize business wasn’t everything, and he helped her realize they had more in common than she wanted to believe. It’s just a really great book!

Another good romance with great chemistry between Leanna and Brody (the main characters). I like the circle of strong women and good looking (or good-read?) men. Bring on the next one!

WITH THIS CAKE is the second instalment in Samantha Chase’s contemporary, adult MEET ME AT THE ALTAR romance series focusing on the woman who work for, and own Meet Me at the Altar Wedding and Catering services-Skylar, Lea and Josie. This is baker and co-owner Josie Baker , and hotelier businessman Brody King’s story line. WITH THIS CAKE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Josie and Brody) WITH THIS CAKE follows the building romance and relationship between baker and co-owner of Meet Me At The Altar bakery Josie Baker, and hotel businessman Brody King. Brody’s brother engagement party is an extravagant and over the top, four day affair, and our hero let it be known he was none too happy about the excess weekend but meeting the bride’s cousin, and pasty chef Josie Baker gave Brody second thoughts about the overpriced and flashy party, a party wherein he was determined to have fun with out story line heroine but a one-night stand ended poorly, and Josie struggled in the wake of embarrassment and humiliation. In an effort to reconnect with Josie Baker, Brody devises a plan, a plan that will see our couple together for the foreseeable future. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Brody and Josie, and the fall-out as the King family dynamics proves that a little competition threatens the relationship between our leading couple.

Brody King is a workaholic but in order to get the promotion he things he deserves, Brody has to prove he is the right man for the job but Brody never expected to meet Josie Baker, a woman who makes him reconsider what it is he truly wants from life and the future. Josie Baker is tired of the bridezillas including her cousin and her upcoming wedding but Josie enjoys baking, and her relationship with Brody sees our heroine baking for the man with whom she is falling in love.

The relationship between Josie and Brody begins accidentally as Brody literally knocks our heroine and her cupcakes to the ground. When his family sees Brody as nothing more than a screw up, Brody sets into motion a plan to prove he is worthy, including a relationship with our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are all implied and fade to black.

There is large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Josie’s business partners Lea and Skylar, and her cousin Charlene: Brody’s brother Travis, and their parents Marshall and Sylvia King.

WITH THIS CAKE is a story of family and relationships, power and struggle; romance, forgiveness and love. The premise is captivating; the romance is sweet and tender; the characters are strong, independent and energetic. WITH THIS CAKE is a welcome and wonderful addition to Samantha Chase’s MEET ME AT THE ALTAR series.

With This Cake is the second book in Samantha Chase’s Meet Me at the Altar series. I adored reading Leanna and Brody’s opposites attract story with a sweet twist!
Leanna Baker is one of the partners of Meet Me at the Altar, a wedding business owned by three best friends. She is the chief baker and creates to die for desserts to celebrate special occasions. Her easy going personality enables her to deal with demanding customers such as her bridezilla cousin Charlene. Leanna has agreed to supply the desserts for her cousin’s three- day engagement celebration.
Samantha Chase’s choice to create an alpha hero intrigued me. Brody King is a difficult character to like. His strong work ethic combined with an even stronger personality often puts him at odds with his family. He’s been warned to behave during his brother’s weekend engagement party. Brody and Leanna’s relationship does not begin well. While out for a run Brody runs into Leanna who was carrying a tray of cupcakes. Leanna falls to the ground, hits her head and the desserts go flying!
The attraction between Leanna and Brody was off the charts. I enjoyed reading how their story unfolded-and loved that the confident Brody struggled with how to reach out to Leanna after the party. He was nervous, anxious and totally unsettled when they met. Leanna brought out Brody’s softer side –he could relax and be himself with her. Loved the honest, emotional conversations between the couple.
I will admit that the gorgeous book cover interested me and I pre-ordered it. After reading the novel, I realized that the cover image perfectly captured the characters-Leanna’s smile beams because she is about to bake and Brody is smiling because he is looking at Leanna with love. Samantha Chase writes the picture perfect happily ever after!

“Life was too short and there was nothing wrong with starting with dessert.”

Romantic, sweet and funny is how I would summarise With This Cake. I haven’t read anything by Samantha Chase before and I’m glad I took a chance on this book. The premise of a baker and cupcakes reeled me in, I’m partial to a bit of baking as a hobby and thought why not! I’m glad this book had what I was looking for; interesting characters, swoon worthy romance and low angst.

Although this book is the second in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone and meeting the characters from the first book piqued my interest of wanting to know their story as well. I liked that even though the romance between Lea and Brody was the main focus, the relationship between Lea and her two friends was funny, encouraging and realistic. It reminded me of similar situations with my closest girlfriends.

It did take a while to settle in to the third person narrative as I am a fan of first and feel I can get to know a character better that way however, the author did a great job of capturing Lea’s sassy side and Brody’s transformation. There were instances when I felt we were told a lot of information rather than shown but it would often be followed by a sweet and swoony scene and I quickly got over it.

With This Cake is the perfect feel good romance/there‘s still hope for us all read. The cast of characters and fun storyline is the cherry on top!

“Life with her was never going to be boring, but it was certainly going to be sweet.”

Opposites attract with explosive results. Chase keeps it light and heartwarming with Brody and Leanna. He's a work-a-holic in need of some serious down time. She's a dreamer in need of some TLC. With this Cake refuses to take itself too seriously and that's what I love most. I got lost in the fairytale that prove to be as captivating as it was fun.

I absolutely loved With This Cake! Samantha Chase has once again delivered another wonderful romance in With This Cake, the second book in her new Meet Me at the Altar series. Samantha Chase has once again provided her readers with amazing characters. Each book in this series keeps getting better and better. I love how all the characters in With This Cake feel like best friends! Who doesn't love hot sexy men, strong, passionate females, and loving friends, who always support one another? Samantha Chase continues to deliver all that and so much more. I really enjoyed With This Cake and am looking forward to reading the other books in the Meet Me at the Altar series. I have read other books by Samantha Chase and have always enjoyed her wonderfully written love stories. Samantha Chase has once again shown that she is an amazing storyteller. With This Cake did not disappoint, I could not put it down and loved every page. One of my favorite parts is how Samantha Chase incorporated the title of the book into the love story. I enjoy how Samantha Chase writes from the perspective of the main characters. That way you get to know what is going on in each of their minds. With This Cake is a wonderful love story and is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I love the lighter moments where I find myself smiling and laughing out loud and the bittersweet moments that cause me to sigh, say aww to myself with tears filling my eyes. With This Cake be filled with such moments, and with so much more. It is filled with all those things that we have come to love and expect in a Samantha Chase love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Who doesn’t love a story about a love at first sight and fake date story? With This Cake is the story of Leanna Baker, baker, co-owner and event planner for Meet Me at the Altar Wedding Services, and Brody King, vice president with King Hospitality, his family’s business. Leanna and Brody meet, when Brody literally runs into her as she is transferring cupcakes from her van to a trailer. Leanna is at Brody’s parents’ estate setting up for her cousin, Charlene’s four-day engagement extravaganza to Brody’s brother, Travis. While Brody offers to help replace the cupcakes he destroyed, Leanna knew she would be able to do it much quicker herself. I love that Brody does not like cake or desserts, he run triathlons and is always training. Brody asks Leanna to be his plus one at all the events over the weekend, Leanna agrees that way they can both avoid their parents judgement by fake dating. Brody informs Leanna that he is not interested in getting married, or having children, both things that Leanna dreams about. While Leanna and Brody spend more time with one another over the weekend, things change between them. When Leanna wakes up alone after spending the night with Brody, with no note, she finds him on the phone angrily speaking with an employee, Leanna leaves without saying good-bye, realizing that Brody is not the man she thought he was. Brody realizes that he wants to see Leanna again, so he orders cupcakes, but her assistant delivers them. He places another order and requests that Leanna deliver them. They decide to date and spend whatever time together that their busy schedules allow. I love when Leanna gets real with Brody about her true feelings for him and opens up to him. A surprise plot twist happens and this changes things between them. This time Leanna goes after Brody. I love how Leanna and Elliot show their vulnerable sides, where Brody admits that he has never felt for any woman the way he feels for Leanna. I love that because of Leanna’s love and support that Brody was able to change. I love Leanna’s relationship with Josie and Skye, and enjoyed catching up with them. It felt like a get together with best friends. My favorite part of the book was the epilogue, I truly love how it goes above and beyond the normal happily ever after. I love how Brody fulfilled Leanna’s dreams. With This Cake contains all the things that I have come to love most and expect in a Samantha Chace story, romance, great characters and setting, bittersweet moments and the plot twist that ties it all together. Amazing story. I could not put it down. Highly recommend this wonderful romance. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

Leanna and Brody’s story in With This Cake, book two in Samantha Chase’s new Meet Me at the Altar series, is an emotional, heartwarming, tale of two independent, strong, and motivated people who have struggled to find their true love.

Leeanna Baker knew that with a last name like hers, she would someday become a baker. As the go-to baker for Meet Me at the Altar, is truly a dream come true for her. Leanna loves creating the perfect desserts to help couples celebrate their big days. Despite all of her hard work and supposedly the way to a man’s heart being through his stomach, she has yet to attract, or find, her perfect man through her treats. Brody King figures if is he has to take time off of work he would rather train for his upcoming triathlon rather than his brother’s engagement party. If it was a normal engagement party, one evening of celebration, he could have handled it. But no, his brother and the bride-to-be had to go to the extremes and plan a week of family togetherness and crazy wedding games. Brody knows there is no way he is going to survive it. While out running, Brody crashed into Leanna, knocking her down, and ruining a hundred cupcakes. Knowing the polite thing to do, Brody offers to help her make more. Working together they decide to be each other’s fake plus-one for the party, except it doesn’t feel like pretend. The magnetic attraction, along with off the charts chemistry building between them has Brody craving not just Leanna’s cupcakes and muffins, but this baker as well. Being a commitment-phobe, it is going to take more than their attraction to change Brody into wanting Leanna to be part of his life.

Ms. Chase wrote an amazing, heartwarming and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, amusing banter, and an endearing cast of secondary characters giving Leanna and Brody a chance at love, happiness and the possibility of a forever together. I highly recommend With This Cake to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

With This Cake
Meet Me At The Altar #2
Samantha Chase
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Like a great cake you want to devour, I was simply just like that with this story…. There was so much to love, sweet as sugar Leanna, & bad boy misunderstood Brody, but my favourite part?? The simple little sayings at the beginning of each chapter. With This Cake is Book 2 in the Meet Me At The Altar series following the 3 women who run a successful Wedding business. All HEA should be as sweet as this!

Leanna Baker, is funnily a Baker, she’s talented at designing and creating beautiful cakes, but as she creates beautiful cakes for others she finds herself looking for her happy ever after! She’s sweet and funny, she cares deeply for those closest to her, she’s about to find out running into a man who is anything but her normal type might just be her sweet spot.

Brody King is filthy rich, her works at King Hospitality a successful worldwide family business, but he is the bad boy of the King Boys, he works hard, but is always the one who cooks the raw end of the deal. He prefers to run and train for a triathlon, then be with his over dramatic family, and the upcoming wedding that has turned into a zoo. A 4 day engagement party s a bad joke and once again Brody is in trouble for calling it out, so while there he walks away from her s family and straight into a woman literally dropping and destroying 100’s of cup cakes. Furious and distraught the ever polite Lea, picks up the mess and starts again.

Lea and Brody could not be more different, he’s healthy , rich, and doesn’t like sweets…. Horror to Lea that he doesn’t eat sweets but needing an out from his family she takes him under her wing. But this time spent together turns to fun, laughter and plenty of heat! As the time moves on, Lea and Brody discover their differences are what bring hem closer. While Brody struggles with his family, Lea gets attitude from hers because she’s a baker, not that she is co owner of a successful business! Together they become the perfect pair, each giving a little extra to make forever

MY RATING GUIDE: 4 Stars. I found this a very satisfying and uplifting listen.
1= dnf/What was that?; 2= Nope, not for me; 3= This was okay/cute; 3.5= I enjoyed it; 4= I LIKED THIS A LOT; 5= I Loved it, it was great! (I seldom give 5 Stars).

Brody King, 32, is an incredibly focused businessman and the brother of the groom to a wedding he’d rather not attend. But needs must.

Leanna/Lee Baker is co-partner and baker for Meet Me at the Alter, a North Carolina special events catering business. Leanna’s cousin is the (bridezilla) bride-to-be of her current project. The engagement party requires Lee to remain on site providing 200-400+ desserts/per day plus an 8-tier anniversary cake for the 4day Anniversary event. Leanna is up to her eyeballs in cupcakes when Brody literally runs into her and cupcakes go flying.

Comments ~
1) WITH THIS CAKE is bk 2 in the Meet Me at the Altar upbeat romance novel series by Samantha Chase. I purchased the audiobook of WITH THIS CAKE during a sale without having read book 1 and it is capable of standing alone nicely. Secondary characters from the other books appear but I didn’t feel like I was beginning in the middle of a story.
2) I was happy to discover there were no major misunderstandings, scenes of angst or TSTL moments (often) used to keep the story moving along - yay. WITH THIS CAKE is a sweet story (no pun intended) about 2 professionally focused individuals who have the opportunity to discover whether or not they can have their cake and eat it too - that is, succeed in their careers while still experiencing a satisfying and committed relationship with someone who respects and “gets” them. I enjoyed this story.

The voice artist Avery Reid was excellent. She differentiated the various characters very nicely making this audiobook a pleasurable listen.

READER CAUTION ~
PROFANITY - Yes. Strong language is used on occasion.
VIOLENCE - Minimal.
SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Yes. After the first first 1/3 or 1/2, there are 4 open door intimacy scenes (which I skimmed).

Leanna Baker is well, a baker for the wedding planning company that she partially owns. Her cousin is having an engagement extravaganza and Leanna has been asked to supply all the desserts. During the four day event, she runs into Brody King, the brother of the groom. At first, they tolerate each other. Then they strike a deal, pretend to date for the weekend. It's a win win for them both as big families want to see them dating someone.
I adore Leanna! She is as sweet as her baked goods. Her attitude never wavers on the outside even though her internal thoughts are so on point. And it's funny how Brody brings her internal monologue to the outside. She is a people pleaser and that fits so we'll for her business and dealing with bridezillas. Her cousin is close to the top on that list.
Brody is a difficult one to read at first. Our first encounter with him is that he's hot headed. He is arguing with his family about the engagement extravaganza and how unnecessary it is. They all tell him to tow the line or get out of he family business as well. (I really disliked the family.) And it's the family business that Brody lives for. He's had no social life because he spends so much time working.
When the two find each other more than first impressions, the magic happens. I loved how their relationship developed and flowed with them. I want to say so much more but that's just giving the story away. I sighed with moony eyes at the way Brody grows. I stood by Leanna when she had to take a stand. I swooned for their love story.

They say "opposites attract" and that is basically the vibe I got when reading "With This Cake" by Samantha Chase as part of the Meet me at the Altar series. Leanna is the baker at the Meet me at the Altar wedding planning business along with her best friends who is run ragged with helping bake all the amazing desserts for her cousin's wedding to the son of the King family, a prominent family in South Carolina. Brody is the middle child of the King family who feels that he needs to prove his work ethic in the family company, someone who treats his body like a temple, always running and training for marathons, never eating sweets.
When they meet by total accident (aka Brody knocking into Leanna), they form a plan to join forces to help them both get through the weekend of the bridal shower and everything they have to deal with from their families.

Leanna and Brody spending time together for that weekend leads to spending time together after the weekend and when feelings develop for Leanna towards Brody, her whole outlook changes. She is the type of person who wants to settle down and have the kids, house and dog, while Brody had once told her he was never getting married.

family issues, mostly from Brody's side of the family, along with a little drama from Leanna's cousin causes some tension for the new couple, but the ups and downs of the relationship and what they go through to stay together really makes this story what it is. I love a good book when the characters are different, yet the same deep down and you know they are meant to be together.

With this Cake is book 2 in Samantha Chase’s Meet Me at the Altar series.

If you’re looking for a feel good HEA standalone with realistic characters, romance that sizzles and a story that was an immediate re-read for me, download WTC immediately! It’s a truly a sweet romantic story.

Leanna Baker is … a baker. She’s a true blue friend to her pals who are running one of the fastest growing and hottest wedding catering company in the area. She’s a cupcake of a gal who produces culinary art, with cupcakes as her specialty.

Brody is … broody. He’s married to the office and when then meet, annoyed at having to take time away from marathon training and his work to attend his brother’s multi day engagement extravaganza. He’s got a well-deserved rep as being curmudgeonly and stingingly direct in his criticism. The sugar starts to fly .. for real… when Brody runs into Lea and a large batch of cupcakes destined for the engagement party.

With this Cake is about opposites who attract, family, believing in yourself, standing up for what’s right, and realizing that home can be so much more when there is more than just one.

For me, With this Cake is quickly becoming one of Ms. Chase’s favorite books … for the characters, Lea’s raw honesty and Brody’s awakening. The series is absolutely fab and a re-read is on the horizon while I impatiently wait for book #3.

I was generously given an advanced reader copy by the author. This is my honest review.

I feel like I have gained 10 lbs. just by reading this book! All joking aside…this was a fun book and I swear just reading about all the sweets that Leanna was baking and tempting Brody with could cause a huge weight gain!

Leanna Baker handles all the baking for the event planning company she owns with her two friends. She was hired by her cousin to provide the desserts for her engagement party, and in the course of setting up, is literally bowled over by Brody King (the brother to the groom).

Brody is a bit of a persona non grata in his family due to his often surly and unpleasant attitude. He and Leanna decide to be each other’s plus one for the engagement weekend festivities as a way to keep his parents off his back and for her to avoid interacting with her prima donna cousin.

Little did they suspect that this arrangement would lead to them wanting to extend their fake relationship beyond the weekend. The more time they spend together the more Leanna feels she is not in his league and her doubts begin to get the best of her. Brody has never had a steady relationship, so he is not sure what he feels- all he knows is that he enjoys her company and her down to earth life.

An unexpected event threatens to drive them apart—but I will leave it there. No spoilers from me.

This book is the second in the Meet Me at the Altar series and I am looking forward to the next installment to see what Samantha Chase has in store for Josie!

This sweet and sexy romance is sure to bring a smile to your face and also an eye roll or two.

Brody is not an easy man to be around. He is blunt to the point of frustration and cares little for what others think of him. He is a workaholic who fills his days with business and exercise, while hoping to achieve his goals of a promotion and his father’s approval.

Leanna is as sweet as the baked goods she prepares. She loves her job as a baker alongside her best friends in their event planning business. She can also be a bit of a pushover and people pleaser, so spending an entire weekend making endless amounts of fancy baked goods for her cousins engagement party weekend causing her a bit of stress.

When these two accidentally cross paths the initial result is destruction. As these two get to know one another it seems they have a few things in common but a lot more differences. When their weekend helping one another enjoy themselves results in an attempt at a relationship, we discover these two have a lot more in common than what it would initially appear. Moments of angst and insecurity, hurt feelings and anger, balance out times of pure bliss and happiness. In the end, Brody and Leanna learn more about themselves as individuals while creating a life as a couple.

The latest series, Meet Me at the Alter, by Samantha Chase is stupendous!! With This Cake is the 2nd book in the series, and it certainly is keeping up with The Engagement Embargo for it’s fabulousness!! When I read the blurb for this book last month, I could not wait for it to hit my Kindle. I will say this, I did not get a lot of sleep the night it did!! I absolutely LOVED EVERY WORD!!!
Leanne and Brody… utter perfection. These two, were absolutely made for each other. This was definitely a book with all of the emotions. I laughed at some parts, and cried at others, both happy and sad. I was also QUITE angry at times at both of their families!! I do not want to give anything away, so I will stop right there.
I was gifted with a copy of this fabulous book for my reading enjoyment, and for my thoughts and opinions of this wonderful story.
My opinion, if you love an emotional romance, you will definitely LOVE this book.
Thank you, Samantha Chase, for sharing your phenomenal talents with your readers. I know when I pick up one of your books to either read, or listen to, I know I will be able to leave my stresses behind for a few hours while I am reading your books.
Thank you for reading my review. Now, go hit that purchase button from your favorite retailer. I know you will enjoy this book as much as I have.

With This Cake
Leanna Baker, the head Baker and one of the partners in Meet Me at The Alter, ends up doing the desserts for her cousin Charlene’s engagement extravaganza weekend. She is not exactly thrilled about it as her cousin is a bit of a bridezilla. And the weekend starts out with a bang.
Brody King, is a very hard worker and if not thrilled about having to be with his family all weekend, and definitely not happy to be at his baby brothers 4 day engagement party. He thinks it’s over the top, but is told to behave. When an unexpected meeting turns his weekend around.
I absolutely Love With This Cake! It is such a fun storyline, very creative and different.
The cakes and cupcakes Lea makes are not the only thing sweet about this book. Brody turns out to be a very swoon worthy gentleman. This was such a charming book I could not put it down and enjoyed every minute of it. I found myself messaging Samantha Chase about a couple of the scenes they were so great! I liked almost all the characters, I bet once you read it you will be able to tell who I didn’t care for :) I am looking forward to the next book in this series You May Kiss the Groomsmen. I recommend reading this whole series but they can definitely be read as standalone’s also

With This Cake by Samantha Chase is the second book in the Meet Me at the Altar series. As with book one, Samantha Chase builds a web of wonderful characters that support, encourage and gently push each other to succeed whether in business or love. In this story, Lea Baker is stuck both being a guest and providing cakes and cupcakes for her cousin’s 4 day engagement event. The groom-to-be’s brother, Brody King, finds this extended weekend event a waste of money (which they have plenty) and time (which he feels is worse since he could be working and training for a triathlon!) When Brody literally runs into Lea, sparks fly. But she’s not happy with this gruff man, who now wants her to spend her non-working time with him so they can endure this long weekend engagement event together! Imagine her surprise when he admits, he never eats sweets!

As their time together draws to an end, a miscommunication and Brody’s growing attraction to Lea, lead to them spending more time together. And with Lea’s magic, he may find some bliss in sweet cakes! I can’t wait for the next book in this Sweet series!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I really loved the first book in this series; however, this book has become my new favorite. I enjoyed the story especially the run-in (literally) that Leanna and Brody had which became the catalyst for being a ‘couple’ for the weekend of festivities. I felt bad for Brody, it seemed like his whole family was in his business and always making little comments about behaving himself and can I just say that Charlene was definitely a piece of work. I liked how Brody helped Leanna and was always making sure she was taken care of and they were there for each other with his family and her parents in showing a united front so that they did not get ‘lectured’. I was hurt right there with Leanna when the miscommunication happened right after the wedding and especially when his father decided to play favorites with his sons regarding the company, not cool. One of my favorite parts through this whole story in addition to Leanna and Brody was Sylvia, I would definitely like to spend time with her. Even though we had some ups and downs in the story, it was really good, and I loved the ending. I am totally looking forward to the next book.

Samantha Chase has done it once again. With This Cake is the perfect book. You have some sweet and tasty food added with heartwarming and delightful moments. Guaranteed to pull your heartstrings from the beginning.

In With This Cake we get Leanna and Brody's story. Leanna and Brody are as opposite as two people can be. Honestly it's like Grumpy Dwarf meets Snow White. He is very uptight and grumpy and she is just so cheerful or lighthearted and very easygoing and a very positive spirit. Leanna is a baker and may I just say I found it cute that her name is Leanba Baker and she is a baker. Inloved watching polar opposites come together and discover a world together.

Samantha Chase is a phenomenal author. She takes you out of the book as a reader and places you in the characters world and head. I often feel as if I'm truly there living the story. I laughed and had heartfelt moments. I felt their struggles and their accomplishments. I was definitely craving sweets by the end of the book. With This Cake was a delight to read. Samantha Chase captivated my heart and soul from page one. Definitely a perfect romance story.

Loved this book. Book #2 in Meet Me at the Altar series by Ms. Chase.
Leanna Baker is making all the desserts for her cousins engagement weekend. The only thing she was not expecting was literally being run down by the grooms brother Brody King. He feels awful, and wants to help her. She knows he will just be in the way, and she tells him just that. He doesn’t listen. He wants to make sure she’s ok. He also has an idea that she isn’t quite sure about, but will she be his plus one for the weekend. She will do it on one condition. He needs to try one of her cupcakes. He tells her he doesn’t do desserts of any kind. It’s hysterical, but he gives in if that will sway her mind.
It seems they have more in common then either of them thought, but after one night together he’s no where to found. She leaves and goes home.
So much more to come.

I had one little issue. I know it may be stupid but if your doing a golf theme cupcakes why would you put cigars on them? Sorry It just doesn’t fit.

I loved the books before this one, and I can’t wait to read the last one coming in August.

A jaded business man/triathlete who doesn’t eat sweets and a baker who loves love. What could they possibly have in common?

Well, to start with, they both think an extended weekend for an engagement party is excessive. Leanna Baker's cousin is marrying Brody King's brother, and Leanna and Brody need to keep their feelings about this extravagant weekend to themselves.

It seems they'll be hanging out together for the weekend, which may not be so bad. Added bonus, it will keep Brody's parents off his back. And the more they spend time together, the more in common they find they have, including wanting to see each other beyond the weekend.

This series is so much fun, but Brody and Leanna have a special place in my heart. Between them seeming to be so opposite and watching them grow into their best versions of self, their story won me over early and left me with a blissfully happy sigh at the end. The perfect candidate for an awesome beach read, don’t miss this sweet, humorous, heartfelt, feel-good romance!

Talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy…a baker named Baker! Well played, Samantha Chase! While Brody is not a king, he’s definitely working his way up the ladder towards the top of his family’s business. Two workaholics shouldn’t work, but these two do. But while they’re serious about their work, their personalities are quite different.
Leanna is as sweet as her baked goods, always willing to go above and beyond, even if someone…like her high maintenance cousin Charlene…doesn’t deserve it. Brody is as blunt as a hammer…he doesn’t mind sharing his opinions, whether they are welcome or not. How are these two opposites going to make it work?
Brody and Lea were a great couple and I loved their growth as individuals. It was nice to get to know Lea more after meeting her in book one of the series, which does not need to be read before this one. Of course, it’s fun to see each friend in this group get her HEA, so why wouldn’t you want to read each book? I certainly can’t wait for the next one!

Sweet as a cupcake

With This Cake was such a lovely second book in the Meet Me At The Alter series. It was so fun to see Leanna's story with it's ups and downs. I had a love hate relationship between Brody and Leanna, however, as the book got further in, my love and hope for them grew. Another thing I adored about this book is that author Samantha Chase included updates of the characters from the past book, it was so fun to hear more about Skyler. I hope the next book has small updates like that for Leanna as well, cause there is a bit more I want to know about now.

This story is definately an opposites attract kind of story where sweet girl meets stubborn guy. I felt the couple had slightly less chemistry than the past one, but I still loved it so much and look forward to the next in the series! Thank you Samantha Chase for writing amazing books that make me smile.

Leanna loves her job as a baker as she finds it fulfilling to ensure that others get the same enjoyment out of eating her treats as she does in making them. Preparing cupcakes for her demanding cousin’s wedding certainly had its challenges especially when a run in with the groom’s brother leads to disaster.

Brody’s primary focus in his life is his career at the family business and everything else comes a distant second. He would rather be spending his time anywhere else than at his brother’s engagement party but what started as something he dreaded turns into so much more when he meets Leanna.

He and Leanna are complete opposites when it comes to their personalities or their lifestyles but not only do they accept each other for who they are but they appreciate and support each other as well.

With This Cake is Book 2 in the Meet Me at The Altar Series but I personally feel can be read as a stand alone.

I think fate had a hand in Brody knocking a bunch of cupcakes out of Leanna's hands when she's at his parents house unloading them preparing for his brother's engagement party. They take advantage of the opportunity and become each other's plus one's for the 4 day event. It didn't take long for them to realize they have a lot in common.

Two things that I absolutely loved most in this book was when Leanna stood up on Brody's behalf to his dad and Brody 'seeing' Leanna and his words his uses to communicate that to her.

This is an absolutely wonderful read. I love Leanna and Brody together. They definitely had their ups and downs but at the end of the day they had each other's back like no other.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, pain, and heartbreak.

The below are part of this series if you want to read those books(s) first
The Engagement Embargo (Meet Me at the Altar, #1)

This is Leanna and Brody’s story. Leanna loves her job. She loves to see her desserts come to light. She bakes plenty of treats but has not found a man to share all those treats. Brody want to do his own thing not be stuck at a wedding. But running to the baker has him thinking a lot of different thoughts. When he ruins her cupcakes, he decides that since he ruined her desserts, he can lend a helping hand. But is he helping or making more work for her? After all he wants her, but does she want him or just his help?

I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

Stephannie 5 Star Review:
I loved this series. I loved this book. I am a big fan of Samantha Chase's books and this one doesn't disappoint. I was hooked from the beginning.
This is the second book in the series and is Leanna and Brody’s story. Leanna loves her job as a baker with her friend's catering business together. She just loves cake but who doesn't? Brody.  Brody is a health nut, a workaholic who doesn't like treats or cake.  Brody and Leanna are stuck going to a 4-day wedding engagement party and decide to be each others plus one. After the long weekend, Brody wants more and Leanna does too but some misunderstanding led to the drama that might cause these two to not have their HEA that I want them to have.  I love these two and I am hooked. I  read it cover to cover and couldn't get enough. One-click this series and this one.
