"I will never lie about these feelings again."

For a large part of this volume, I felt some angst and worry that Uka would have a long-drawn-out journey of realizing what her feelings were for Kai, making it last for several volumes. While I think it would be valid if it did take Uka time to work through her feelings, that was something I was not personally looking forward to reading today.

Thankfully I was proven wrong in that her long-drawn out journey was just for this volume!

And not only that, the ending gave me butterflies!! EEEEEPPP!!

I'm definitely not a fan of Marin at all. She needs to stay away from Uka because it's obvious (and it's even stated) that she does NOT view Uka as a friend and hated how she tried "hooking her up" in the beginning. She didn't even come to defend her when Marin's friends were so rude to Uka calling her weirdo and being grossed out that Uka may like them. Like, excuse me?!

I feel Kai handled that situation so well because I wouldn't have reacted at all like he did. Not when they called her names, and not when the truth came out about Uka's feelings either. And speaking of, Kai continues to be an interesting character. I was slightly offended when he put a "name" to their relationship because I feel he has made it known (at least to the reader) that he views Uka as something more than a friend, but he also hasn't really done anything to make it seem like he does, in fact, feel that way?

However, there was a scene where I think it shows that Kai is taking things slow because that ending spoke SO much of how he DOES feel!! Goodness, even before that when Uka's feelings overflowed and she said what was on her heart, we also saw his feelings! Both scenes were amazing and I really admired how Uka finally faced Kai and shared her heart (because I think the first time doesn't count given the situation LOL). Shoutout to Ayumi for being such an encouraging and supportive friend to help Uka continue to move forward! <3

I would love to reread this volume again knowing how the volume ends so I wouldn't be so anxious and could really appreciate the build-up. LOL! The ending was easily my favorite part and very curious and excited to see where this story goes!

I feel so happy my heart is going to burst!

Finally have little insecure plain Ishimori musterd up her courage to confess, a lobg freaking road but it was worth it. I really like that she has developed and become stronger but still keep in touch with her emotional side. She sure has changed but she is still herself.

Who doesn't love a slow burning romance? I think it's made really realistic with the time frame and interactions it took for him to fall in love with her!

I'm so excited for the next volume, translators get on that shit I appreciate you!

This may not capture teenage reality as well as Skip and Loafer, but it's a close, more romantic second, and I love the slow realization that Kai is just as awkward as Uka. He just hides it better.

Honey Lemon Soda
Tome 7

The first half of this volume was a little dry for me. During the karoke sequence, it's cool that Uka isn't particularly hurt when people mock her in front of her face, and that she's able to tell Marin frankly that glasses boy isn't her type. Kai steps in for the millionth time, as the sequence is too-conveniently set at the place he's working. The protector-and-protected dynamic is feeling rather stale after seven volumes. After that, there's a girl talk session entirely centered on boys and relationship strategies. zzz.

The second half was great, though, with a couple really nice scenes. The one where the reader sees was sweet and touching, and also in keeping with Kai's character. Affecting Uka to the core in a rather off-handed way. :D

Things are moving forward... ish!

Honey Lemon Soda is a "rake and virgin" type of love story on a shoujo-appropriate level. Uka is very painfully obviously out of her league, and all but collapses when faced with the completely alien territory of self-acceptance, acceptance by others, and love. Hang in there, girl!

It was super cute that a third-year guy fell for Uka during one of her assertive moments. Of course, the poor guy doesn't stand a chance, but maybe he'll turn out to not be a bad sort, and will eventually get together with one of Uka's friends.

Yikes, talk about being put on the spot. Both Kai and Uka are determined to hide their preferences from the rest of the class even though it seems they're nonchalantly going with the flow. The t-shirts are also adorable and it's fun to see how Uka surprises everyone yet again throughout the sports festival. At least one pretty major good thing came about from all of the events with the festival and Uka's supposed dream state in the nurse's office. I'm slightly curious how long Kai would have let things go on the way they were or if he would have cracked and said something sooner rather than later. As is, now that the floodgates are open, he doesn't seem to have any reservations about making his own point.

The sports festival was so fun and the progress for Uka was brilliant and lovely. How she starts to realize wanting more in her relationship with Kai and how she confesses in the end was so her. The sports festival really showcases how much she actually learned about Kai and how their relationship has develop so far. Her actual confession is so Uka and the way it happens was not very surprising. The next part in the story was so squeal worthy and will really be intresting to see where it will go in the next edition. Since all that happened was them confessing to each other and not really developing the relationship more. It really made me want to see what would happen next and so worth the read, so enjoyable.

Enfin !

3.5 stars. I am so mixed on this series. it’s cute, love the friendships, love Uka, love the overall positivity about personal growth and forgiveness. but also… lots of victim-blaming vibes with all the bullying. yuck. and I feel icky about the “girl falls in love with her rescuer” stuff. like… why does Kai like her? because she needs him? because…????? guess we’ll see where things go over the next few volumes.

¡Hurra, Uka! ¡Hurra, Kai! (O algo así).

She's so dense at times, that I get second hand embarrassment. The ending of this volume was really cute and sports day was a fun activity. Again, the pacing is a little weird with more telling than showing at times.
