He is the cuddliest of teddy bears. A year after fleeing an abusive partner, Farah’s welcome in the refuge sheltering her is ending. With no money, no job, and no options, she’s floored to be presented with a marriage of convenience to an alien behemoth as a solution. Considering her recent ordeal, entering a relationship with a four-armed giant with herculean strength is the last thing she wants. But the sweet, respectful, and cuddly male she discovers behind that intimidating façade makes her feel safer than she has in years. She exceeds his wildest dreams. As the biggest and strongest male on Xoccoris, Krogal struggles with his people’s expectations that he should lead a warrior’s life instead of caring for wounded and helpless creatures in his veterinary clinic. When the Prime Mating Agency finally finds his soulmate, Krogal is mesmerized by the stunning and delicate little human she turns out to be. While her previous hardships stir his protective instincts, Farah’s inner strength and compassion dazzle him. But as their bond grows stronger, will the ghosts of her past destroy the future they’re trying to build together?

Krogal (H) is the giant, cuddle lovin, sweetheart of an alien hero that I needed yesterday. He's a veterinarian in a culture where competition and feats of fighting/strength are what bring honor to a family, though he is the strongest fighter, he just doesn't want to pursue it. What he does want to pursue is finding his soulmate (aww) so he enlists the famous matchmaker to help him out. It takes a few years but Farah (h), who's hiding from an abusive ex and in a difficult situation because of it, is found by chance. She's, understandably, worried about coming to another planet and putting herself at the mercy of another man, but takes a risk. Krogal quickly shows her how he's not only trustworthy, he's the perfect guy for her.
Written in first person, dual POV. No ow drama, slight om drama from h's ex, and both are experienced (h had only been with her ex, no history given for H).
This was so adorable and low angst. Some heavy themes do affect our main characters, with Farah's backstory and that Krogal renounces his mother (it's a matriarchal society) because she doesn't understand or support him, but they both thrive with the care they show each other. So many sweet moments and I esp loved how Farah was empowered and found her strength again. Lovely and protective side characters, redemption for Krogal's mom, some action later in the book that wraps up a danger, and there's a cute, alien animal sidekick. Oh and of course, otherworldly features and steaminess. I'm glad I picked this one up when I did.
I always pretty much enjoy new additions to this series! If you want a feel good alien romance, you’ll probably like it.
That being said, I’ve found the last few a bit boring. I just don’t feel like the characters have a lot of personality.
The couple was sweet together, especially since the heroine had a past abusive relationship. So I was glad she got a sweet hero, but it just lacked chemistry to me.
There is some action at the end! But it’s overall fairly low angst if you want something like that.
Sweet teddy bear Krogal finally gets his happy ending. He has so much insecurity and shame from his family and I liked that the author delved into the complexity of parent child relationships when the parent is too concerned about image. It’s messy and awful, but often the parent still loves the child. Farah was, understandably, leery of a relationship even with Kayog’s insistence that they were mates. She needed compassion and patience from a partner, and Krogal was good for that. Parts of the middle of the book dragged, but it picked up after a few more chapters.
Spice: 3/5
Triggers: emotional and financial abuse, murder, violence, gore, SCI, toxic parent child relationship, violence toward animal, grief from parent death (historical), poverty, attempted kidnapping, brief discussion of colonial slavery, PTSD
The book equivalent of eating French onion soup on a chilly day ・ ・ ・ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🕮⋆˚࿔✎𓂃 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
It turns out I stopped reading these because the writing doesn’t grip me even though I very much enjoy the premise of the story and even the characters.
I think I'm done with this series now, and that really disappoints me, because I Married a Lizardman was one of the first alien/monster romance books I read, and I really enjoyed it. But I haven't enjoyed the last several offerings in this series (I Married an Incubus was okay). They all seem like they've been hurriedly written with no care taken for repeated words, grammar, punctuation, plot holes, etc.
It also got pretty rich when Farah was judging others for sleeping with dates on the first night, considering that that is one of the caveats of an arranged marriage through the Prime Mating Agency. Granted, hers wasn't arranged through PMA so the rules didn't apply, but I got kind of tired of the judgmental attitude. There were a few more of those sprinkled throughout the book, including Farah mentally calling Belle plus-sized but not in an unhealthy way.
Not what I'm looking for in this genre, and I doubt I'll be back.
Regine Abel has done it again, I didn't think that Krogal would have been my first choice for the PMA books, but whoa!! I absolutely adored it. He's such a sweet man, and the whole story was so well written. And maybe I cried a little...

Me encantan.
I had been hoping this sweet boy would get his soulmate since his introduction. I really love the cultural world building in this series, but this planet is my favorite. My only negative is that the action/conflict was weaker than most. We knew it had to happen but the way it played out seemed contrived. I still sqeed and I still cried at the end so all is forgiven.
May be the best sci fi romance series out there for overall universe building and consistency, mature communication, boys with the BEST houses, weird dongs, and alien wildlife. There's illustrations. Shout out to compelling and diverse female leads.
An absolute delight to read. The MMC is a big old cinnamon roll who wants to protect and nurture the FMC after her ordeal with an abusive ex. Such a sweet read. It’s always a good time in the Prime Mating Agency Universe 😁
This was a sweet and steamy read that had me aww-ing so many times! Don't let Krogal's four eyes and arms scare you: he's the cuddliest and most considerate alien one could dream of marrying ;) I loved how the hurt-comfort and found family tropes were done in the book. The schmexy scenes were great, too. Another great addition to one of my favorite series!
"Seriously, four-armed hugs were freaking awesome, especially when given by the gentlest giant."
Full romance para esta serie, súper cute, super dulce, no se sintió lento a pesar de ser más un slowburn tal vez que otros, pero muy bella entrada en la serie,
DNF at 40% and I feel terrible about it. I love this series and have enjoyed every book, but I couldn’t get through this one. The dialogue was very flat and over exaggerated making it feel cringy. The characters also weren’t as well developed as in previous books. The whole thing felt flat and lacking depth. I’m super bummed because I really liked Krogal in the last book but here he didn’t even feel like the same character that I liked.
It was a generally low-angst and sweet story other than the evil villain plot - I wasn't very emotionally attached to the main couple and thought there was too much telling and info-dumping.
The author has no understanding of Matriarchal systems. She seems to believe that a Matriarchy is a mirror image of a patriarchy.
This culture is not a matriarchy. It is a patriarchy; that has put on a dress and some lipstick. Most Matriarchal cultures don't have monogamous marriages. Most don't have marriages at all. The ones that do, have polyandry.
This culture is ruled by power, might and cunning (patriarchy), not by wisdom (matriarchy). This culture is ruled by a young, strong individual (patriarchy), not by the eldest grandmother (matriarchy). Placing a young woman as the authority, as opposed to a young man, does not change it from a patriarchy to a matriarchy; anymore does painting roots on a water tower and calling it a tree.
Their expressions and thinking are all patriarchal. The belief that all women are sensitive and loving, deep down inside, is a patriarchal belief system. The notion of allowing a child to disrespect a mother in public, regardless of the age, is patriarchal; especially if the child is male. The notion of suppressing the right of the mother, for any reason, is patriarchal. There are so many more little details that are all wrong.
The author has no notion of proportions. For some reason, she believes that being 250 lbs at 7-1/2 feet is realistic. That individual male would have a BMI of only 22.2. Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson has a BMI of 38 to 40. This species of people are suppose to be athletic and muscular. 22.2 is 2.2 points away from anorexicly thin. You would see all of their bones and joints and no muscles.
Because of the lack of attention to details, I kept getting pulled out of the story. It had the potential to be a good story, but if failed. So, disappointing!
I swear, if I read "my man/woman/behemoth" one more time....
Krogal was such an important character from Bayron's book that it's no wonder he got his own. He was definitely deserving. Farah had a great backstory that provided a lot of potential for this story.
Unfortunately, this felt like a "one draft and done" book. While still undeniably Abel's voice, the writing quality was subpar compared to her main works. 95% of the book was exposition, telling instead of showing, and it would have been far more interesting if that had been flipped. As it was, there was hardly any tension to keep the plot engaging. Krogal's conflict with his mother was mild, and while it was obvious from the beginning that Farah would have to confront her ex, it only happened 80% into the book - and ended very quickly. Though honestly, that was probably the most exciting part.
I would have loved to see Farah more skittish in the beginning around Krogal, given her abusive background. It would have been a great source of conflict for these two. But everything fell so nicely into place for them that the story just wasn't that interesting. Again, so much potential here, but not well executed.
Okay. Krogal is straight up a marshmallow. In the BEST possible way. He's sweet, cuddly, and he is willing to do anything to make sure Farah feels safe with him. Given the emotional abuse the suffered followed by her fight to prove to authorities that she WAS abused, Farah mostly needs to know she can trust her new husband to have her back.
No lie, Krogal does everything in his power to show her just that. He lets her set the pace in their relationship (and when she's ready to take things to the next level, she is READY), is willing to bend his people's traditions to incorporate her own into their household, and allows her the freedom to make her own choices on what she wants to do in this new life. He's a sweetheart and he's willing to wait as long as it takes for his other half to be comfortable with them as a couple.
On Farah's end, she loves her new world and the people who accept her so whole-heartedly (well, except for Krogal's mother who has issues with A LOT of people, but the lady eventually comes around). She likes everything about her new husband, but she's also wary after what happened in her last relationship. Not that Krogal is anything like her ex, but some things need time and patience before they can get where they need to be.
A little danger, a world of possibilities, more than a few steamy kisses, a critter who helps when it's needed most, a cuddly veterinarian, and a lady who loves hard once she gets over her past issues. *thumbs up*
This had some major plot holes that were glossed over at the very end but was a better attempt than poor Wojin's story. Farah agrees to model, among other things someone in hiding doesn't do, never applied to change her name formally, didn't think to set any precautions, nada. Her new Zamorian family never sets alerts, alarms, gives her a tracker/panic button, nothing. They just arrogantly assume that their mere presence is a deterrent. And they're supposed to be one of the higher tech friendly planets but nothing detected the breech or disguise? Really? But, if you forget about the huge plot holes, and ignore everything else but the 2 main characters, it's a decent story. And we get a better look at Krogal than previous tie-in characters.
Another delightful Zamorian story! Every time, I think this book can’t be better the last one. Every time, it is! How do you do that, Ms. Abel? Farah and Krogal couldn’t be a better match! But what more would I expect from matches made by Kayog? This is a sweet, slow burn romance that’s just what Farah needs. It’s not all sunshine and roses, though. Read and see how these two work out the problems that arise. Fine storytelling!
~Farah is on the run from her abusive ex when she meets the head of the Prime Mating Agency who claims of knowing her perfect match. Krogal has been hoping to find his mate for 5 years.. he’s more than willing to be patient while she comes into her own.~
I personally loved the family issues in this. The way Krogal stands up for himself (especially against a certain person) was so beautiful. Everyone should know their worth. The way that all turned out though was amazing! The end def had tears in my eyes.
