Winter vacation has finally arrived, and Monica is looking forward to a break from protecting the second prince. But her plans quickly fall apart when she is ordered to guard him once again—this time in her official capacity as the Silent Witch! Now she must escort Felix on a diplomatic mission to a neighboring country without him realizing she and Monica Norton are one and the same. Can she pull through, or will her body give out from the stress? And what new threat lies in wait for the prince at their destination...?
This volume, and this series, are simply fantastic. The way each volume keeps upping the ante and outdoing the one before it is incredible, and it was bomb shell after bomb shell drop in this one in particular. I love how pieces I didn’t even realize have significance keep re-emerging in unique ways and connecting pieces of the puzzle in unexpected ways. We get a lot more insight into Felix’ mindset and goals in this one, tho still not everything, and the way he completely fanboys over meeting his idol is hilarious and really sweet. The continued agony of Eliane getting thwarted by a completely dense Glenn is also really done and adds a layer of reprieve to heavier scenes. Once again the balance of plot reveals, humorous scenes, and character developments is really well done, and I can’t wait for the next volume to be released.
This is probably my most fave volume so far! Monica acting as her true self during the Winter Break Arc was a breath of fresh air. Here, she could be the Silent Witch and show her beautiful, scary powers for all of the duchy to behold hahaha! It hinted more of Felix’s secret and I have a feeling all will be revealed in the next volume… I just want him to know that Monica Norton is the Silent Witch and read how he loses his mind with the revelation 🤣
I’ve been reading that there will be no romance in the main story (I think there’s a sequel already?). And the most popular ship right now is Monica and Cyril. But… I really can’t help rooting for Felix lol. He might be introduced as a typical male lead with the blond hair and gorgeous blue eyes. But this light novel made him more nuanced and intriguing. His POVs gave him more depth and he’s always so genuine when he’s pretending to be Ike or fanboying over the Silent Witch 🥹 So basically, I just want the prince to be happy, especially now it is being hinted why he’s cozying up with the weird, but very very powerful characters. The fact that the duke was collecting those shady villains too just to have full control over Felix? Shudders… protect the prince at all cost!
Lastly—and here’s the main spoiler now—I was laughing so much when Nero turned out to be THE freaking black dragon because I KNEW IT!!! The author has hinted it so much from the start too with his name and all 😂 Nero was too much of a menace to just be a simple shapeshifting cat. It makes me feel wonderfully validated to know that I was right hahahah! On to volume
After the supplementary volume that was 4.5, this was more tense and hence more enjoyable for me.
Monica in this story is mostly about her sage duties, which was far more interesting to witness instead of her Serendia Academy life. We finally get to see Monica perform her magic without needing to hide the fact that she's performing them. (Although she still has to hide her identity, but still!!! Seeing her be so flashy with her magic is very satisfying!!!! Let people awe at her genius!!!)
And towards the end we finally get to witness more of Monica's backstory, seeing her transform into a purposeful young lady made me feel so proud as I've been following this light novel from the early days.
I love this series with my whole heart. Monica is absolutely the most adorable heroine ever, and so easy to root for. The way she still struggles with her anxiety yet tries so hard to overcome it, bit by bit, every single day, makes me want to wrap her up in my arms and swing her around in an enormous hug.
Felix was also adorable in this. He’s such a not-so-secret Silent Witch fanboy that it makes every interaction he has with Monica sweet and hilarious to read about. Plus, Nero has always been my favorite, and I cackled even more with his role here.
Another fantastic installment! Now please excuse me while I speed off to read the next one.
Okay, when I thought Silent Witch would be guarding Prince Felix, I assumed she’d try to keep her identity hidden. But by the end of it, I was sure the big reveal was coming—that Silent Witch is actually Monica! But it hasn’t happened yet.
I can’t wait for the moment when Prince Felix realizes the mysterious witch he admires and has a crush on is actually the Student Council’s accountant… Monica, the same girl he treated like a pet and called his little squirrel. 😂
I’m eagerly waiting for the reactions—especially from Prince Felix and Cyril. The suspense is killing me!
I went in thinking there would be so much more Felix x Monica interactions. Instead, Monica came out doubting him while Felix came out getting more obsessed. However, I enjoyed it plenty (had to grit my teeth through Elaine and Bridget gripping for Felix. Brownie points for Elaine to get over that).

I honestly can’t get enough of this series i genuinely have read all 5 in a week the story rewards you for predicting things then gives you new things to think about
C'est un tome assez chouette, avec notamment pas mal de focus sur Nero et du pétage de dragon. L'histoire commence à véritablement poser ses pions, c'est sympa. Et comme toujours Monica bébou.
