Finding Christmas

Rate this book
Healing Heartbreak by Finding Love, Family and the True Spirit of Christmas Josh Daniels successfully avoided Christmas for years. Side-stepping his family’s calls for him to come home, working through office holiday parties and even refusing the croons of Bing Crosby. Not that Josh has anything against Christmas, in fact, he loves it. At least he did. Following his divorce, the holidays mean one thing to him – he has to put his daughter on a plane for the holiday break. His life in Hawaii with his daughter, Kaya, is temporarily shattered, leaving him hollow and broken-hearted. This year, he has succumbed to his mother’s pressure, agreeing that travelling with Kaya would be better than putting her on a plane alone. Once on the mainland, he finds himself mercilessly confronted with the holidays at every turn. Every sight families playing together, preparing for Christmas the way he used to with Kaya tears him apart. Desperately seeking sanctuary, Josh finds comfort in a little coffee shop. With a divine spilled latte, he is spirited into a journey that will remind him of the true meaning of Christmas and open his heart to love once more. Filled with family, love and all things that make the holidays wonderful, Finding Christmas reminds us all of what the season is all about.

This was a wonderful story about finding love after a divorce. I love how Josh was hiding away from life and emotions for anyone but his daughter. He gave himself time to grieve his divorce, even if too long, like some of us do.

I definitely enjoyed the book. The characters were real and the story interesting. I downgraded the review because some things were repeated such as why Ashley bought the bookstore and there were several spelling errors. It could use a good proofreader. I will definitely read more books by this author. I liked the wisdom expressed by the child in her direct simplistic way. Too often we as adults try to complicate life.

A sweet romance in the the tradition of a Hallmark Christmas movie. The local flavor of the small town Camas, WA setting was enjoyable (and, for the most part, pretty accurate). Otherwise, a fairly typical story about a single dad who finds new love at Christmastime. But if you like romance (or just Christmas!), you’ll find this quick read worthwhile.
