The Billionaire's Assistant

Rate this book
He’s a grumpy, brooding, billionaire bosshole. I’m the personal assistant who’s determined to survive three months with him.

First impressions are everything, right? So maybe I shouldn’t have tackled my new boss and landed with my face in his crotch before I got his name.

Is that why he won’t stop scowling? Or does he hate personal assistants on principle? He did fire the last four in their first week…

It’s a good thing I’m only sticking around for three months. See, I’m doing this for the cat sanctuary I run, and that should be just enough money. No matter how many times he complains about his coffee or surprises me with some insane demand, I’ll just keep smiling.

The only problem? Mason figures out that I know a few tricks from working for the competition. Now he wants to spend every second with me. If I thought he was cold as ice before, it doesn’t compare to the heat when he’s focused on me.

I’d sworn off men, but when my hot as hell bosshole stands up to my ex and literally knocks him out to protect me…

Nobody told me there was a steaming cinnamon roll waiting for me at the office. It’s too bad I won’t be around long enough to have more than a taste.

The Billionaire's Assistant is a steamy standalone romance that's perfect for fans of Olivia Hayle, Nicole Snow, and Penelope Bloom. With a grumpy hero with a heart of gold and a sunshine heroine with the perfect amount of sass, it will have you laughing until you swoon.

This book had emotion, angst, great plot, and heart. However...it was so...heavy. It was bogged down by how BOTH the hero and the heroine were struggling with uncertainty, fear, wariness, trauma, and then -- BOOM! -- forever love. There was no lightness to this, unless you count all the cat stuff, but even then you could FEEL the heroine's desperation to CLING to the animal sanctuary because it was a safety blanket. This whole book weighed me down, so much so that I stopped reading at 95%, because I was just done. The bad guy got fired, the hero walked away from his job, and I still felt like the couple was listless. I didn't WANT to connect to two people who were in love but still focused on protecting themselves from each other.

I am so glad Mason has finally gotten his turn to tell us his story! Each Loughton brother had a different up bringing which also caused them to view life differently with their own set of emotions. Phillip took charge while still being able to have a life;  forcing their father into retirement. Andrew feeling like he was destined for so much more then just to meet the status quo; sets out to create his mark on the world. Now we have Mason, a broken boy forced to grow up on his own and trying to fill the whole in his life where his family should have been.

Mason is back in America to help his brother's run The Loughton House; their father's legacy and most prized possession. Mason feels robbed of his family but cannot bring himself to forgive his father or to be able to create bonds with his brothers. His anger is causing him to struggle running his part in the company and refuses the help of anyone. If you cannot trust your own father in life then how can you trust anyone else?

Phillip and Andrew being their annoyingly/pushy but out of love selves decide it's time for Mason to get help whether he wants it or not. Feeling frustrated, annoyed and maybe a little defeated, Mason is not ready for the whirlwind that is Cassidy Carter, his new PA. He makes her feel useless by giving her nothing to do in the hopes that she will quit herself since his brother's have made it their mission to prevent him from being able to fire her. Mason might just get the push he needs with Cassidy's help, that is if he actually allows her the room to do so.

After running away from the big bad city, Cassidy is back but for good reason. She just hopes she can grin and bear it long enough to raise the money needed to expand her beloved Paws and Claws cat sanctuary. She knew coming back to publishing wouldn't be easy, this time though she wouldn't be a VP of a department she'd only be a PA. Easy enough, right?

Cassidy wasn't prepared for her boss but she's determined to prove her worth and that she knows what she's talking about. She's not going to let her boss, who could easily make her stay very difficult or ruin her chances to help the one thing good in her life. She's going to help this stubborn man figure out what he's missing even if that means running into the one man that caused her to flee the city in the first place.

Will Paws and Claws get the funding Cassidy is working to get? Will Vangaurd finally be up and running the way it needs to, so Loughton House can pull ahead of the competition? Can Cassidy and Mason overcome their trust issues to work together, can they overcome the trauma they've been shackled with or will they let their grudges get the best of them and loss sight of what could be?

Even if you don’t like cats, you’ll probably still like this book! 🐱

Cassidy is willing to do whatever it takes to advance her cat sanctuary - even go back to work in the publishing world. Where she was once a VP, she is now a personal assistant to an a**hole boss who has fired his last several PA’s. Mason (the a**hole) is no match for Cassidy. She turns him and his company around as they simultaneously fall for each other. Everyone wins, cats included! 🐈‍⬛

I really enjoy Sylvia Hart’s books and this is no exception. My only complaint is with regard to Cassidy. For such a strong woman, she has some deep-seated trauma that impacts her relationship with Mason. While this is understandable, it seems so drawn out. This annoying aspect has the effect of endearing the reader to Mason. In addition to putting an end to Cassidy’s doubts, Mason also becomes the ideal book boyfriend. ❤️

I loved the story 'The Billionaire's Assistant' by Sylvia Hart. It was about a woman who had been cruelly treated by a man she had loved and given all her business ideas and hard work into making him the head of the publishing business. She retreated to a small town in order to establish a cat sanctuary with her friend after she was confronted by her fiancé cheating on her the night before her wedding. After two years she went back to the city and applied for a job in another publishing firm so that she could raise money to build an addition for her cat sanctuary. Two brothers saw her potential when they read her resume and hired her to work with their brother as his personal assistant. They warned her that he was a rude grouch who had fired his previous assistants. Mason and Cassidy don't have the best introduction to each other when each of them mistakes the other for a thief. Cassidy was taking his clothes out of the office closet to be dry cleaned and he walked in and thought she was trying to steal his clothes. After he grabbed his clothes and started to walk off, Cassidy stopped what she thought was a thief and tackled him. It was only then that they discovered who each other was and one of the brothers appeared to tell Mason that a new PA had been hired for him. Cassidy knew she had a big challenge teaching this man to learn how to accept help and work with her, but she kept reminding herself that she need only work a few months in order to get the money for the cat sanctuary. She and Mason are honest with each other about this, and she convinces him to give it a trial basis and see if she can't help him. She assures him that she knows the publishing business very well by working for her former company. Almost immediately Mason and his brothers realize that Cassidy is much more than a personal assistant and Mason slowly learns to listen and accept her suggestions. His struggles to excel at the publishing company that his family owns and that he has recently joined after being estranged from his family and out of the country and it's suddenly made easier by this very knowledgeable woman. He has had to rely on himself to survive since he was eighteen and had made his own fortune, but unfortunately has not had anyone to rely on for support besides a friend he met overseas. He slowly learns to rely on Cassidy, and she is eager to help him obtain authors that her old publisher beau wants to claim for his own company. She taught her ex everything he knows, and he claimed her ideas as his own. Once Cassidy is rudely confronted by her insolent and insulting ex in front of Mason and Mason gallantly defends her and knocks the man out, Mason and Cassidy team up together to master the publishing market and acquire top authors before her former company can. Mason is falling in love with her, but he doesn't want Cassidy to think that he is like her ex and just using her to further his own career. Cassidy herself is learning to love Mason and assures him that he is nothing like her ex. This story is about their journey working together and learning to trust another person to not hurt them emotionally. It is a wonderful story with great characters and plot.

This Loughton Brothers novel was fantastic and had the best situations. The first meeting between the two MCs was definitely unexpected and one where you instinctively want to gasp and go “oh no!” in the funny, oh my gosh, uncontainable giggling way. That set the tone of the book and I knew it was going to be a good read. I was right. I was also pleasantly surprised by the male main character, Mason. He didn’t automatically dismiss Cassidy’s, female lead, abilities or knowledge as though she couldn’t possibly understand how to do his job. He wasn’t pleased at her uninvited input, nobody would, but he admitted that she knew what she was doing and when she proved it, he didn’t blow it off as being lucky or take credit or whatever, he immediately thanked her. Mason and Cassidy worked together very well and their chemistry wasn’t overwhelming or forced nor did it just pop up. Their relationship developed reasonably and they didn’t get go from 0 to 100 with no warning. Even their steamy moments were like that. Nothing was skipped. Yes it was on a time crunch but it felt natural instead of rushed.

It kept getting better and better. It had elements in the background that were great additions and added to the characters so they were well rounded. We understood their mindsets and reasonings more so we weren’t left wondering. It wasn’t so much that it was boring and unnecessary but worked into the book by way of conversations or internal monologues.
I felt that it blended so seamlessly that it aided in the forward progression of the book instead of having to backtrack or skim over. I loved the addition of the cats. Not only was the portrayal of the cat behavior on point, it was funny and something every cat owner has experienced.

Overall I thought this was a great book that was well written. Even though it is part of a series you won’t be lost if you haven’t read the previous ones. Just minor mentions of a few people but they are briefly explained.

Cassidy Carter gave up her position as VP of Marketing with a successful publishing house to run a cat sanctuary. Now two years on the sanctuary needs more space and money so her only recourse is to rejoin the rat race for at least three months to earn the money she needs.
Becoming the personal assistant to the co-owner of the top publisher Loughton House brings her into the orbit of Mason Loughton, a man who doesn’t suffer fool’s lightly.
But Cassidy is no fool and soon earns Mason’s respect with her intelligence and knowledge of the industry.
Both have past personal issues and hurts to circumvent but the attraction building between them soon becomes obvious.
I really enjoyed The Billionaire’s Assistant which is a very engaging contemporary romance, and if you are a reader who falls into this genre whole heartedly this one is a good one with it’s captivating writing, engaging characters and sweet heart of a romance sprinkled with a little spice.

It's been two years since Cassidy left her big city job as VP of marketing for a small town running a cat sanctuary with her friend. But the sanctuary needs more space and upgrades, so she decides to apply for a job as a PA for three monthsto help pay for it. After her ex cheated on her right before the wedding, Cassidy is determined never to get involved with someone she works with again. That definitely won't be a problem with her new boss who's dead set against having her work with him and ignored her for the most part. But when she proves her worth and earns his respect, and he wants her by his side, his new cinnamon roll attitude becomes harder to resist.
This is a fun lighthearted office romance with a smart and independent fmc and a sweet and heroic mmc under the gruff exterior. It was great to see them get over their initial impressions and learn each other's true characters.

Cassidy has a sanctuary called Paws and Claws, and she and her partner need to buy land to expand it. To make the money, she goes back to the industry that she escaped two years ago, when she caught her fiance cheating the day before the wedding. But this time, she just needs to last a few months as a PA to raise the money she needs.
Mason doesn't want a PA. He doesn't even want to be at the office. But his brothers want him there. He's spent too much time away from his brothers after his father disowned him. Now he just needs to figure out how to stop the competition from taking over, and his unwanted PA is just the person to help.

Sylvia did an excellent job bringing Cassidy and Mason to life. They both have past trauma that they are working through.

Delightful:
I adored this sweet, emotional and romantic book. I was instantly drawn into the story and felt an affection towards the main characters. Cassidy and Mason were perfect together and I fell in love with both of them. They were both broken and hurting in their own way and I really liked seeing how they supported and encouraged one another.
One thing that I really appreciated was that whilst there certainly were challenges for Cassidy and Mason to overcome, there wasn't any unnecessary angst and for a change there wasn't a big misunderstanding nor break up. This was the third book featuring the Loughton brothers, however it could nevertheless be enjoyed as a standalone.

I enjoying reading this book, I thought it was well thought out and the storyline was well written and flowed easily. The characters were great, Mason sure meet his match in Cassidy. I loved that Cassidy told it like it was and made sure Mason knew where he was doing things wrong. Only a typical bloke doesn't like help or even ask for it. Though his brothers were saying the business isn't doing great as you need to mix it up a bit, Mason never changed his tune until Cassidy came along. they got on so well and the chemistry was there from the beginning, only she didn't want people she only had the job because she was close with the boss. Great book, definitely worth a read.

this was cute

OK so this book was really cute and I got admit it was a good dream because it was different than other books. I have read, especially in this type of category and honestly I would definitely would recommend reading this book and I got to admit that to Drama was too perfect and I mean perfect for this type of work if it braided and it wasn’t too much I was just afraid them out but honestly I wish there was more spice. That’s why I gave it four stars other than that I will say this book was really good, and I just wish there was more chemistry in the beginning then holding off. I just felt like this relationship basically started too late but other then that everything was good

This was again an engaging love story in the Loughton family. Mason and Cassidy have had some bad experiences in the past and together they try to heal. I loved that cats play a central role in this story, I love cats. And I would love to work at Paws and Claws as well. I was so glad for Cassidy of how she dealt with Braden at the end. He deserved nothing at all. The only thing I missed in this story were more interactions between Mason, Philip and Andrew. Otherwise a very agreeable read!.

Last of the 'Loughton Publishing' trilogy. The books are all stand-alone, so you do not have to have read the others before this one. This, in my opinion, is that best of the three! Mason, the middle brother meets his match when his brothers hire PA Cassidy to organise him & his work! I enjoyed the ebb and flow of their relationship; throw in loads of cute cats and you have an enjoyable romance.
