When I got dumped by my stupid fiancé a week before the wedding, my plans involved nothing more than ice cream, a blanket fort, and a bonfire of his possessions.

But my friends convinced me that bitter tastes better drowned in Bordeaux, so I came to Paris for a single-moon.

Then I met him. He's shown me things I’ve never seen before, and I’m not talking about the Louvre.

Is it just the seduction of Paris? Or could this be the real thing?

4 Anything is Possible stars!

 photo 788824d0-c03b-457d-b16c-25e7145adad0_zps4bae9ed7.jpg

Frenched is one of those feel good, sweet and sexy books that are just fun to read. With two lovable characters, a beautiful location, and a story that made me laugh and kept a smile on my face, this was a great read for me.

Mia Devine plans weddings for a living. Planning her own has been her life for the last six months. That is, until her fiancé decides to call it off a week before the big event. Mia is distraught, but more that that, she’s pissed.
“FML. That’s what I need to monogram on all this shit.”

The Paris honeymoon she has been dreaming about all her life is once again just a dream. Or is it? Once Mia’s friends convince her to go, she heads off to Paris alone. Just because she’s not getting married doesn’t mean she can’t do everything she wanted to do in Paris, right? The problem with Paris is love is in the air. It’s freaking EVERYWHERE. And Mia is sick of looking at it.
“I don’t care what you call me, I just don’t want to hear any more about love tonight, or see it, or smell it in the goddamn air.”

Wanting to get away from all the love, Mia head into a bar. She meets the bartender, Lucas, who listens to her tale and decides to show her the real Paris.

 photo b4950ff8-a21e-4757-9a69-f270e9c3a002_zpsa0c86db3.jpg

I loved all of Mia and Lucas’s Paris adventures. Lucas is no where near Mia’s type. He’s got longer hair, a scruffy face, he’s not the usual guy she would go for. But he’s exactly what she needs. He’s fun, flirty, and the more time she spends with him, the more she likes him. See, even though Mia was getting married to the ‘perfect’ guy for her, she realizes he’s not so perfect. Not for her. Maybe someone like Lucas, who’s not really her type, is.

Lucas shows Mia a whole new world, new experiences. He makes her see Paris in an entirely different light.
“Oh my God, I love Paris!”

 photo 8106ea0f-4316-44d5-b527-45e398135c23_zpsa2d18720.jpg

Lucas and Mia were both fantastic characters. Lucas is a sweet, sexy and easy going guy. One of those people that is just fun to be around. And Mia has that sense of humor I love. Her lists… they were great. Some of them so hilarious! I even decided to make one of my own…
Christy’s List of things she LOVED about this book:
Lucas
Paris location
tied up
Lucas
Mia’s Lists
Kissing in the rain
The list Lucas wrote- SWOON
Just Lucas again. I loved that boy!

Compared to some of the heavier or more angsty reads I’ve read lately, this was light, fun and highly entertaining. Sometimes, you just need a book like that.

4.5--Fun, Flirty, and Freaking HOT--Stars!!!

I'm going to channel my inner Mia and make a list.

Things I Loved About This Book:

1. Lucas
2. The humor
3. Lucas
4. The overabundance of hot sex
5. Lucas

This book rocked! It really was the perfect book....it made me laugh, it was off the charts HOT, the MCs weren't annoying, and there wasn't any dumb drama. Yes, it was insta-saying-I love you but I am willing to over-look that for the above mentioned reasons and simply because of Lucas.

We start off with Mia getting dumped by Tucker the Fucker (her words, not mine) one week before her pending nuptials. Tucker had an aversion to bodily fluids, oral sex and anything outside of the missionary position.

Trust me, Mia...this break-up was the best thing that ever could have happened to you.

Mia's friends convince her to go to Paris and enjoy the would-be honeymoon. Mia reluctantly agrees.

Her first night there she's rather depressed and down on love when she wanders in to The Beaver Bar & Grill (best name ever) and meets the bartender Lucas.

"That's what I was doing when I came in, making sure there were no obvious couples in love in here. They're fucking everywhere in this city. You can't even walk down the street without seeing people hanging all over each other, kissing and hugging and being fucking happy together. It's like a crime to walk down the street alone."

Lucas convinces Mia to spend the day with him. He will be her tour guide. And if he can't convince her to stay, she can return home to Detroit.

Things are all very innocent the first day. They explore the city and get to know each other. But then the sexual attraction gets the best of them both and things explode.

In the shower, in the bedroom, in the kitchen, in the car, in the orchard, against the wall...

Bedroom Lucas...um, yeah. Where can I find ME a bedroom Lucas???

"Listen, I don't know what kind of assholes you've been with before, but I promise you, your orgasm will not only make an appearance tonight, it will be the star of the show."

The next few days are filled with sex before Lucas invites Mia to go with him to visit his family. Mia's starting to question her feelings for Lucas. While she wants it to be just sex, she can't deny the connection that she shares with Lucas.

Mia tries to live in the moment. But she knows the trip will eventually have to come to an end. And then what? She and Lucas don't even live in the same city. They don't even want the same things. And Mia was just dumped one week pre-wedding.

"I really wish I'd have met you under different circumstances, Mia Devine. But I'm not sorry about anything we've done. Only that this is hurting you."

Well, well, well...what do you know... Tucker the Fucker's back.

Now I'm silently praying that Mia doesn't do anything stupid. Please for the love of all things holy DO NOT take Tucker back.

Think Lucas. Lucas is perfect. Lucas is HOT. Lucas is a beast in the bedroom. Lucas. Lucas. Lucas. I didn't make that list for nothing....Lucas earned his spot on there.

What can I say?

You'll laugh and smile and have to change your panties a few times....but it'll be worth it.

And bonus....

That is all.

Frenched by Melanie Harlow (my first by this author) was an absolute treat!!
This is a light hearted, smart, funny, sexy, quirky and a deliciously romantic read.

Mia Devine, an event planner from Detroit, is dumped by her fiancée one week before the wedding. Her friends persuade her to use the honeymoon trip to Paris.

She meets sexy Lucas Fournier, music professor from NYC moonlighting at his brother’s bar in Paris and soon both are thrown together on the most fabulous adventure.

Some of the things I loved about this story:

The Paris setting – the author captures the essence of the city so beautifully. I felt as if I was back in the Paris I know and love, walking the streets, seeing the sites….tasting the wine!!!
 photo mig_zpse62pjg2l.jpg
Lucas Fournier – sexy, gorgeous…..i could continue gushing but hell, this is a man I would love to be mine!!!
 photo download_zpstdmm1sf6.jpg

The dialogue between Mia and Lucas

The story of Abelard and Heloise….just fitted in so well into the story of love!!!

The sexy scenes were pretty hot and well written.

A total “feel good” story!!!

Now, I just need to find out what happens next to these two lovable characters.

FOUR I LOVE PARIS STARS.

"I'm not ready to say goodbye to you."

description

Perfect to escape with, 'Frenched' will make you smile, swoon and drool. When I saw this book popping up all over goodreads I knew i wouldn't be able to resist this Paris themed love story for long and what better way to make sure your book is a winner than to write a book with great story telling, fabulous characters, adorable romance and plenty of wine. Melanie Harlow is an author to look out for she knows how to combine well written with sweet and sexy and I'm hoping she's got way more up her writing sleeve to share. Here's the rest of what I thought ...

What's it all about?
Having being ceremonially dumped a week before she's due to walk down the aisle, Mia Devine is feeling more than just 'under the weather'. Organised to epic proportions, Mia usually relies on her lists to keep her life on track but when everything has fallen apart around her she has nothing left to lose than to hop on that plane and take advantage of that honeymoon to Paris. On her first night in the city of love, Mia feels regret at her impulse decision to travel with her newly single status and finds herself planning to return home. But when a one chance encounter brings her to met the so-not-her-type bartender, Lucas Fournier this love lost American finds herself armed with a new tour guide and a hope that Paris will bring her happiness after all. After enjoying herself more than she has in years Mia might just learn that throwing away the lists may just bring her the romance she never knew she needed. Follow the story of Mia and Lucas and a chance encounter that might just be more than a short term attraction.

description

What did I love?
I think it's safe to say that I am unable to resist a book that is not only adorably written but also has a great balance of romance and schmexy. 'Frenched' was all of the above with the added charm of comedy value. Nothing was hard to read or depressing about this book in fact everything was unicorns, flowers and rainbows type of easy. It's the perfect book to spend a day curled up with and I'm sure there won't be many that can resist the charms of this book and it's delightful characters. This book had some sex-a-licious bed time action, when Mia and Lucas gave into their mutual attraction it was all systems go with plenty of steamy orgasms to take this from a sweet read to a gloriously yummy, romp filled novel. I was definitely sold by this authors sexy time writing skills it never felt pretentious or unrealistic in fact it was believably scrumptious. From start to finish my romance induced butterflies came into play, this book is filled with what I love most about reading romance stories, I adored this lovely story and read it in one happy sitting.

description

Why not five?
There's not much to find fault with here, this is the type of book that you can't help but smile about and if you've got a penchant for the easy romance genre that this will be your ticket, whatever the reason there was something holding me back from the full five star rating and that's not because I feel negatively about any part of the storyline it's simply because in comparison to other books I've read and rated this particular story didn't take me to that unforgettable I must re read this book straight away type feeling.

description

Final thoughts ...
'Frenched' was a novel that quite frankly is sweet personified. I laughed, smiled and most definitely understood the attraction between this couple. The author made her pages become alive and now I'm desperate to go and visit the city of paris and fall in love too. If you like your romance to be sweet and sexy then go grab this gorgeous novel, enjoy ... Kisses.

4.5 Making Lists, Letting Go, Kissing in the Rain Stars
* * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free-A 2014 Review
All of us have habits which give us comfort...some people like to make sure at the end of the day their desk is clear and all is in order. Others are ok with little piles of papers, looking to some disorganized; but to those who are the keepers of the said pile... they know exactly what is in each one. There are also those who by making lists of what to do; things to purchase and what experiences to have are necessary... Mia, our main character in Frenched, would fall into that group.

This is a tale of discovery, understanding, and taking the real risk.. to love freely.

We have Mia, an event planner, who after planning the wedding beyond any normal wedding would be in NYC, no less, gets dumped by her fiancee by TEXT.
Yes, Text... that in and of itself should give you an indication of what a jerk this guy is...and in reality.... how lucky she is not to be
marrying him. We are with her... in her head... feeling sorry for ourselves ... and her list-making is going full blast with all the reasons why or how she is handling this turn of events.

(These lists are hysterical... and they are the thread throughout the book where we get to feel everything Mia feels...they were perfect).

Luckily, Mia's friends help her see clearly to take her honeymoon trip to Paris; the place she has dreamed of going to all her life. They explain you can be miserable here in your bed... or go to Paris and see if you can just take in the sights, at least. The smart girl gets on the plane and goes.

There she is being the grown-up trying to overcome her sorrow...but everywhere she turns... love is in the air and couples are kissing or worse getting proposed to! She finds a "sports" bar, goes in, and takes a look around the place making sure there are no lovely-dovey couples plastered to each other.

The bartender, Lucas calls out to her. This one interaction sets off the entire book.

Lucas sees this woman...she seems lost and as she sits and has wine, she tells him her tale of woe. It is all about how this happened to her, how the wedding was supposed to be wonderful. All of her talking is about how miserable she is but nothing is about the loss of the love of her life or how she is so heartbroken.

Lucas finds this very interesting and offers her a chance to see Paris, really see it with him. He offers because she says she is leaving and going back home. He will be her tour guide for the day in hopes that she will stay.

Mia takes him up on the offer and by doing so...ends up getting much more than she bargained. She ends up learning about herself. What a real-life full of caring and love can feel like; and most importantly, she learns not everything needs to be on a list or follow a plan.

This book made my heart sing. The chemistry between Lucas and Mia... perfection. He was a man comfortable with himself. He didn't need to rush things or push. He heard what she had told him about her past relationship (it was nothing anyone with a brain in their head would want, IMO) and let things just happen between them. She talked to us, she was realizing her attraction to Lucas and we were there every glorious step of the way...

And glorious was what all of the connections were. From the first brush of their lips together to the steamy, overwhelming touching and tasting of each other. Mia's past history collided with Lucas's talented ability to make Mia feel all woman. It was as if she was Christopher Columbus discovering America for the first time and we got to experience it with her. All of us should have a Lucas in our lives at some point. But she was not the only one to discover something from their experience, Lucas did too and he was man enough to admit it.

There were secondary characters and they did their jobs well. Paris, of course, always knows how to set the mood and pace... and for someone who still has not had the pleasure to meet her personally... well... at least I got a little glimpse through Mia's and Lucas' journey.

Kissing is an art form...loving, as well. Frenched brings all of this to the forefront as to how we must be open to moments and let things happen. There are no guarantees, only the guarantees of not having things happen if we are too afraid to try.

I have never been afraid to try... if you read Frenched... maybe you will be brave, as well.

TO BEING IN PARIS,
A DREAM COME TRUE

This is the story of Mia and Lucas. Mia has been dumped by her fiancé and decides to take her honeymoon in Paris, alone. Paris is a place she has always dreamed of visiting.
In French no less. C’est mangi-fucking-fique

She meets Lucas in a bar on her first night there. She is feeling sorry for herself and she tells him she is going home the next day. He persuades her to stay and he says he will be her guide for a few days. He is an American, visiting Paris, working part-time in his brother’s bar.

I’m a cemetery person.
I think they’re beautiful and relaxing.
Peaceful.

I totally agree…. Love visiting graveyards.

Loved reading all the descriptions of Paris. I only live about 2 hours away from there but very rarely visit. Must rectify that soon. Alex, you can be my guide. Have never been to Père Lachaise or the Rodin museum and want to check out the Marco Polo restaurant…

… someone once told me Paris was magical. I guess she was right

What’s sadder than a train station farewell?

They both want different things in life. He wants to be a free spirit. She wants to settle down and have a family…. Can they compromise?

Very enjoyable read… and the sex scenes are HOT!

Stand-alone book 1. More of them in book 1.5. Series complete.

BLURB:
When Tucker Branch, playboy heir to Branch Bolt and Screw, screws and bolts a week before their wedding, Mia Devine wants nothing more than to crawl under her newly monogrammed sheets and plan a funeral for her dignity. But her friends convince her that bitter tastes better when it’s drowned in Bordeaux, so Mia grits her teeth and packs her bags, determined to make the best of her luxurious Paris honeymoon—alone.

She never planned on meeting Lucas Fournier.

The easygoing bartender’s scruffy good looks and less-than-sympathetic ear annoy her at first, but when she takes him up on his offer to show her around the city, she discovers that the romance of Paris isn’t just a myth.

Nor is the simultaneous O.

The last thing Mia needs is another doomed love affair, but since she only has a week, she figures she might as well enjoy la vie en O with Lucas while she can. But each day—and night—with Lucas is better than the last, and suddenly her heart is telling her this is more than a rebound fling.

Is it just the seduction of Paris…or could this be the real thing?

excuse me. I didn’t expect this to be that SPICCYYYY, hello? 🥵 the aesthetic of this book was superior and the entire plot is a dream come true. a lil bit too insta lovey since the entire thing is in the span of a week, but it was fun. I wish we would’ve seen more emotional connection. but the chemistry? it gave☝🏻

two very memorable quotes:
“oh my god I love paris” + “i’m not letting you walk out of my life without giving me a chance to make you happy”

3.5 stars!

That was a lot of sexy fun!

I really enjoyed Frenched, it's a nice dose of fantasy and fun and a break from reality. I want to go and visit Paris again after reading this, see it in a new light.

My main issue with Frenched was the instalove, I personally just couldn't get past it. I understand it was necessary to the plot/timeline, but 48 hours is a little bit inconceivable for me.

Onto the next!

And this, ladies and gentlemen is how you should write a smart, funny, sexy, stand-alone adult romance which features adults acting like adults.

Light
No drama, No angst, easy read
Lots of sex
Playful Banter
Lucas

Robert Sheehan as Lucas after Mia added hair product. I think Frenched is like an erotic version of Anna and the French kiss.

It's very difficult for me to find adult erotica that really appeals to the most romantic side of my perverted heart. I'm a picky reader. I hate cheating, I hate TSTLness, I hate slutshamming, I hate when the characters make stupid decisions, I hate when the emotional world doesn't make sense, I hate when lust and sex become more important for the couple than the feelings of their partners. I hate when the couple jumps directly to bed without connecting first. So I stick to YA romance, a few selected NA authors and Classic Romance authors. I usually hate insta-love/insta-lust unless the authors make a good job in convincing me that it's possible.

Well Frenched is a hidden gem that really took me by surprise. I only read it because a couple of goodread friends liked it and it was free. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did.

I won't lie. It starts rather slow, this is a book that gets better and better each chapter, but if I had downloaded the amazon sample I would have dropped it. Why? Because Mia, the main character opens the novel mopping. Her fiance cancels what was supposed to be a perfect wedding by sending her a text and she enters a state of depression. It was repetitive and I don't know, she seemed shallow to me. A marriage, a person, a human being should be more important than the "perfect wedding". She wasn't moping for the end of her relationship. She was moping because she's a listmaker, a planner (it's even what she does for a living, planning events) a woman who doesn't like spontaneity and she had been planning her perfect wedding and her perfect marriage since she was a little girl.

So her best friends, Erin and Coco, convince her to go to Paris, in what was supposed to be her honey moon trip. Mia hates flying on a plane In a bar called "The Beaver" she encounters Lucas MY OFFICIAL BOOK BOYFRIEND. He looks the opposite of her perfect alpha-male looking ex-boyfriend. She thinks Lucas might look attractive if he tamed his hair and shaved his scruff.

Lucas calls off her sh*tty act. Oh! So she's depressed because she didn't get the perfect wedding? And what about her ex-fiance? Not a word to say that she'll miss him? Mia and Lucas have a rocky start but she accepts to let Lucas become her tourist guide.

Then things escalate quickly. Cute Banter, playful flirting, chemistry off the charts. You get the picture. But I don't know, I thought I got to know both of them and understand their emotional state before anything sexual happened. I loved that. I thought their banter was cute, their flirting was compelling to read and i love it.

I have to warn you that if you hate insta-love you might hate this one. They fall in love and are having plans for a future and it's not even a week. I know my great-grandparents fell in love and married after only a month, so for me this wasn't at all far-fetched. I could sense the connection between Mia and Lucas, how she was surprised and marveled at the things that she discovered about herself because of HIM. He wasn't expecting to fall in love either, he doesn't want to ever get married so the way that Mia shakes his world takes him unawares.

Around the 35% mark the couple gets together in bed and it's explosive and passionate and I love the way that Melanie Harlow described the scene. It was like I was there. It was raw, sexy, and even so I learned more of those two by their love making. I didn't think the sex was gratuitous even though this is an erotica book. It was in my opinion very well done and romantic.

description

After a lot of sex scenes there comes the moment of truth. Mia thinks she has fallen in love, but she thinks she should search for a husband soon if she wants to become a mom before her 30th birthday. He has already broken up with a woman he dated for 3 years because she wanted to get married and he didn't.

What I liked about this book is that both ADULT characters were able to talk about their problems and CHANGE to be together. In the usual NA/Erotica you'd have one of the two, or both of them making a stupid decision to drag the story. Lucas and Mia didn't. They really talked and made adjustments and negotiated to BE TOGETHER, TO NOT LOSE THE INCREDIBLY CHANCE OF FINDING TRUE LOVE . I found that so refreshing, so romantic.

description

wARNING: Apparently the sequel ruins the couple. They didn't make stupid decisions on this one, but they make questionalbe decisions on the sequel. I won't read it because the ending for me was PERFECT. I have had enough series that start good and go down from there. This was originally a stand alone so read it as such and ignore the sequel.

List of readers who should read Frenched

1) Haters of angsty, dramatic, slow romance
2) Insta love fans
3) smut-reads lovers
4) HEA lovers
5) Stand alone novels fans

Give it a chance this is a free book, the first chapters are slow, but again this is free. The worst that can happen to you is that you stop reading it, but if you connect with the couple like I did, you might find a new favorite and a new book boyfriend.

**** FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED ****

Frenched was a fun, sexy romantic escape!! I read it in one sitting this afternoon and it was just a wonderful little getaway to a beautiful city with loveable characters, steamy hot sex and a whirlwind romance!!

The story is about Mia who is unceremoniously dumped by her fiance (by text!!!) a week before her meticulously planned wedding. Feeling miserable and utterly dejected, she holes up in her room which is where we join in the book. The opening line made me smile....

"Top Five Reasons (Out of 100) I Am NEVER Coming Out Of This Blanket Fort"

But her friends are determined not to let her mope around and convince her to go to Paris and use her pre-booked and paid for luxury honeymoon time as a way to just enjoy life and get back on her feet. So off she goes (somewhat reluctantly) to the city of love... alone.

"I tried to perk myself up with a stroll along the Seine, but my Independent Woman positivity had fizzled. Everywhere I looked I saw couples in love. Fucking EVERYWHERE."

Frustrated and literally about to give up and go home, she wanders into a sports bar to hide from all the love. But when the sexy bartender, Lucas, hears her miserable tale of woe, he convinces her to stay one more day in the city to try and salvalge her trip and offers to be her tour guide.

Aaaaaaaand one thing leads to another and a whirlwind romance begins ;)

"Listen. I don't know what kind of assholes you've been with before, but I promise you, your orgasm will not only make an appearance tonight, it will be the star of the show."

Since the whole story was told from Mia's perspective, I almost felt like I escaped away to Paris with her. We got to see her whole trip unfold and it was almost relaxing in a way -- like taking a mini vacation.

Overall, it really was a just a very sweet, fun read. It made me smile and laugh out loud, the sexy-times were hot (and frequent!!), and the general story was very low angst but still had me caring for the characters. I really liked both Mia and Lucas and genuinely enjoyed reading about them. Mia was loveable and Lucas was totally swoony and I was really rooting for them to make their chance encounter work long term.

My only complaint was that I found the ending to be abrupt. I would have really liked to have an epilogue that wrap things up more. However, it is not a cliffhanger and you are left in a happy place. But I would have liked just a little bit more .

But as I said, I really think of this as a fun and sexy romantic escape. The perfect afternoon read!

Lucas and his Wizardry of O's

We're off to see the Wizard
(Mia's off to see Lucas)
The wonderful Wizard of O's
(The wonderful Lucas and his wizardry of O's)
We hear he is a whiz of a wiz
(We didn't just hear, we saw his wiz)
If ever a wiz there was
(If Lucas is real he is magic)
If ever, oh ever a wiz there was
(maybe all the Lucas's are hiding in France)
The Wizard of O's is one because
(Lucas is a wizard of o's because he has a tongue...)
Because, because, because, because, because
(lips, fingers, dirty words, sweet words, magic words)
Because of the wonderful things he does
(Because of the wonderful things he does with them)
We're off to see the Wizard
(Mia's [getting] off seeing Lucas)
The wonderful Wizard of O's
(Lucas's wonderful Wizardry of O's)

I really enjoyed Frenched. It's sexy, sweet, funny and heartwarming. I was glad that Mia got her head straight and was able to move on from the douchewaffle she nearly married. I knew from the first few pages that it would have been a monumental mistake for her to have married the jerk. Mia and Lucas's "love" was a little quick for me but Lucas is a Wizard and his ability to make magic with his O's would have even me convinced it was love.

Melanie Harlow is definitely becoming one of my favourite authors. Her characters are lovable, far from perfect and real. I feel comfortable when I read her books. They are not OTT in angst or extremely kinky, just a great escape. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

3.5 stars!

Things I loved about Frenched:
1. Lucas
2. France
3. Kissing in the rain
4. The banter
5. The sex
6. The humor
7. Lucas' list
8. Lucas
9. Lucas
10. LUCAS

Mia Devine has been living her life one list at a time; spontaneity just doesn't run in her blood. It works just as well since she runs Devine Events, a successful events company. When her fiancé goes cold turkey on her and leaves her seven days before her most prized event––their wedding––she's stuck in their penthouse with their monogrammed pillows, alone, miserable, and drunk.

I'll die an old maid, cold and alone. I won't even have cats because I'm allergic to them."

Now what's she going to do with their Paris honeymoon trip? Her friends think she should still go. Why waste a first-class ticket, a perfectly planned itinerary, and a wonderful hotel over a first-class douchebag (read ex-fiancé)? It's always been her dream to go to Paris, and with everything that's happened, she had every right to fulfill that dream. So off to Paris she goes.

When she walks around the city on her first day in Paris, she sees couples all around; she even had front row seats to a marriage proposal. That's when she remembers that Paris is not just the city of lights; it's also the city of romance. By the end of the day, Mia was miserable and ready to fly back to the states.

As she wallows in self-pity and good wine in a bar in Paris, the bartender (slash music professor in NYC), Lucas Fournier, tries to convince Mia to give Paris a second chance. One day . He'll show her around Paris for one day, and if she still hates it, then she can fly back home.

Mia has her Paris to-do list, and Lucas isn't in it, but neither is going alone, husband-less. But a day with Lucas makes Mia realize Paris has much much much more (read orgasm, beautiful sights, and amazing food) to offer.

If there's anyone who can write amazing sex, it's Melanie Harlow. Seriously. I've only read a few of her books, but I am completely sold. Not only does she write great sex, she writes amazing banter and even more amazing male leads.

Lucas Fournier is a dream of a man, and everything he did make me smile. He's a gentleman, he's sweet, he's French, he's perfect. I love him gaah. I can see why Mia fell for him.

Nothing you ask of me is too much."

I'm not usually a fan of insta-love, and although it sometimes made me uncomfortable that Mia and Lucas fell in love with each other within the span of that Paris trip, it wasn't what made me give this book 3.5 stars.

The book is light, sexy, and fun, and I laughed and smiled throughout the quick read. If you're a fan of whirlwind romances and sexy lead males, then you should definitely read Frenched!

Sweet, Sexy, Funny with a side of Naughty and Set in Paris the city of romance, this book made me smile, blush and fall in love with a Frenchmen.
The story kicks off with Mia being jilted just one week before her dream wedding was set to take place. Angry, depressed and hurt she wants to stay under her blankets forever and never have to face the world again.
“I’ll die an old maid, cold and alone. I won’t even have cats because I’m allergic to them”

But her two best friends Coco and Erin convince her to go spend the week she planned for her honeymoon in Paris alone. There she meets Lucas at a bar, who later on becomes her Paris tour guide.
These two made me fall in love with Paris; I definitely want to go there now. The romance of the city is what made this book tenfold better.
Lucas was such a sweetheart and sexy to a fault, he was cute in a sort of nerdy way and very naughty between the sheets!
Talking about a French president who died while getting a blowjob (this is true)…
“You’re pretty good with all this history”
“I find it interesting”
“Especially the parts about the blowjob I bet” To my surprise he blushed and the word adorable popped into my head.

He’s half French half American with the hint of an accent, living between France and New York, and did I mention a sweetheart?

“Jesus Mia” and his voice cracked. Right on my name.

I really liked that this wasn’t love on first sight for either of them but it sort of grew with time. Even though the entire book spanned just a week it felt like a lifetime with how much stuff they did together.
It had some major sexy times, with ice cubes and ties *waggleseyebrows*.
It was fast paced, relatively short and it ended with a happy for now tone, I wish it had more of an epilogue but I found out that their story continues in a novella.
I enjoyed it very much for what it was light sweet and sexy and I would recommend it if you’re in the mood for a light smutty romantic read that’ll keep you smiling throughout the entire book.

Nope, today is not my lucky day... This is the 2nd book I am dropping after %30...

This is my first reason of DNF:
1. I cannot stand the heroine any more...

The heroine here, Mia, is dumped by her fiancé 2 weeks before their wedding and she is now devastated, feeling awful, not because she is deeply in love with him but because the wedding isn't going to take place and her plans and preparations have gone to waste.

She talks about her ex fiancé like that: He was selfish and bad in bed. He hated oral sex. He had only 2 approved positions and refused to try anything else. He was not keen on her satisfaction after he had his.... Oh, they also didn't have strong feelings towards each other but she was beautiful and he was handsome and they were perceived as the perfect couple.

Well, one asks, why the hell did you want to marry him?

Oh, here is her explanation: Because he was a playboy, people thought he would leave her, too. She wanted to marry him to prove them wrong!!!

Oh and because she likes planning and making lists (even what to wear on each day of the week), she also said that she had planned to get married before the age of 28 and she was already 27!!! She wanted everything to go according to her plans... What the hell, woman?!

OK, when she started to whine over the 1500 roses that were ordered for the wedding and complained that the expensive sheets and pillow covers all with their initials have now become a waste, I wanted to pull my hair.

The honeymoon trip to Paris

So, then she goes to Paris on her own with the encouragement of her friends and now she is in this romantic city alone. She was supposed to be here on her honeymoon... So she feels awful whenever she sees a couple, blah bla...

Then, she meets a half French half American guy and she literally jumps on him on day 1...

For all these reasons, I strongly disliked Mia.

My number 2 reason for dropping this book:
2. The writing is no good... The story telling is no good. Of course, in my opinion! It doesn't make me feel.

For example, she says "we talked about this and we talked about that" etc. But I would like to read those dialogues, not her summarizing about the titles of their conversation.

They go around the sights together and I don't know how but she starts to think how wet she is. All too quickly! But no sexual tension is built, no feelings have been developed, no strong attraction is described... I felt nothing! Nope, nada... But she is wet, oh she is so wet!

And even though he is slow and hesitant, she literally invites herself to his house on day 1 and at home, when he says they don't have to... you know... oh, she insists and etc...

And when I saw how I cannot feel anything at all (rather than annoyance and boredom), I quit trying there...

So, it could be the book, or it could be me... You may still give it a try if this woman will not get on your nerves... After so many marvelous books I have read this year, maybe my expectations are higher now...

Title: Frenched
Series: Standalone
Author: Melanie Harlow
Release Date: March, 2014
Rating: 3 stars
Cliffhanger:. No
HEA:

Honestly, Frenched was not as good as I hoped. After reading so many wonderful reviews, I was definitely expecting a lot more. Yes, it was very adorable story, which I did enjoy, but it was not a novel that could swept me of my feet. It took me some time to actually finish it and I found the ending as well as the big portion of the book just ‘meh’.

Thanks to light, enjoyable storytelling and amazing premise as well as seeing my friends giving it high ratings, I decided to finish it. Of course, there were parts that made me tingle, laugh and swoon - if not that I’m not sure if I would be able to give Frenched at least three stars, but I’m pretty disappointed I couldn’t love it more.

The story follows Mia, twenty-seven year old woman that was dumped one week before the wedding. Saying she’s having life crisis won’t be enough – she’s angry, she’s hurt and she’s definitely lonely. So when two of her best friends told her to pack her bags and be ready to go on her honeymoon trip to Paris by herself, she’s not very excited about the prospect. How could she? Being alone in the city of love isn’t the happiest thing that could to her.

When she finally sets feet in France, she knew she made a mistake. Everywhere she looks there are couples holding hands, making out or saying ‘I love you’. She wants to go back home immediately, but she meets Lucas – scruffy bartender that promises her one day in Paris that will change her mind.

I couldn’t say no to Paris themed story, could I? The idea of being in the city of love and finding a perfect man for yourself was too tempting for me not to crack this story open. And Harlow didn’t disappoint in creating bewitching and sensual city that was full of love and romance. She’s also a great storyteller and perfectly caught the dynamics between her characters.

What made me critical was insta love. Sigh. I was very disappointed when from scruffy bartender Lucas changed into sex god in only one day. That was so unrealistic and anticlimactic! I wanted a friends to lovers romance, a slow built of romance, and I got ‘we know each other one day, but let’s have sex, you are the best I ever had to love of my life’ in a matter of what two, three days? Eh.. It bored me. I’ve seen this happening to many times to count and to be able to enjoy it fully.

I listened to this audiobook in one sitting on a road trip and it was pretty boring. I feel like I've read this kind of story before and it was....boring. She gets dumped by her fiancé. She decides to go on their honeymoon to Paris alone. She meets a guy. They hook up. They fall in love. Even the conflict at the end was predictable and I just didn't care about their romance. This wasn't a bad book, I've just read a lot like this before and had a hard time rooting for the couple or wanting to see how they would be together by the end.

Mia gets dumped big time just a week before her dream wedding and while she's content to hide out in her apartment, her friends and family will have none of that. They convince her to go on her honeymoon to Paris - By. Herself., so she goes. She tries to put on a brave face but it's hard to do when they're are couples in love everywhere she turns. She ends up escaping into a bar and that's when she meets Lucas...and he changes everything.

5 Things I liked about Mia and Lucas

1. I LOVED Mia's list making!
2. I thought it was great that Mia opened herself up to new experiences.
3. I loved how Lucas took care of Mia.
4. Rodin's hand statue/Love letters of Abelard and Heloise book/kissing in the rain!
5. Their many steamy scenes!

description

5 Things that were a little weird

1. I thought the relationship was a little hard to believe with how fast everything happened.
2. Everything was just too easy and too good.
3. The "BDSM"....really?
4. Lucas' hang-up.
5. Tucker (at the end) and no real explanation.

Overall, it's a light, sweet read with PLENTY of steamy scenes. The 'drama' doesn't really happen until about the 75% mark so things seem to get resolved rather quickly. Thankfully, the author is writing another book, Yanked, that's supposed to come out in June.

Having being dumped a week before getting married, Mia goes on her honeymoon to Paris alone where she meets Lucas.

I liked Mia, I loved Lucas, their connection was great, the sex was hot and there was no over the top drama.

There was a few tiny problems. I thought Mia was constantly a bit too horny and Im afraid it was insta love.

But I was completely lost in this book I had a fat grin, it made my heart flutter, and it was set in Paris. Great book x

4.5 Take me to Paris Stars!

Maybe it was just the mood I was in, but I freaking LOVED this book. I wanted something a little sweet and a lot hot and this book definitely delivered it to me!

Mia has had a really crappy week. Her fiancé has called off their wedding a week before it was to take place. This was to be the event of the year. She had an $18,000 dress hanging in her closet that she would never get to wear!

Her friends think she needs to go ahead and go to Paris, which was supposed to be where they were going on their honeymoon. She decides to go as it is always been a dream of hers and she could use the time alone, right?

Unfortunately, being by yourself in one of the most romantic cities after a bad break up isn't a good idea. She is ready to call it quits on her first day and ago home.

Everywhere I looked I saw couples in love.
Fucking everywhere.
Holding hands on the bridges, sneaking a kiss on cozy street corners, whispering to one another in whatever languages they spoke, exchanging secret smiles, ducking into bars and restaurants, laughing at all the unattached losers in the city-at least tat's what it felt like to me.

She needs a drink and ducks into a Canadian sports bar where she meets Lucas who is a bartender there. He had a scruffy face and shaggy, curly dark hair. He was absolutely nothing like her ex-fiancé.

After hearing her sob story, Lucas convinces her to stay another day and let him be her tour guide. He will stay away from going to anyplace romantic and then after his day is up, she can decide if she wants to go home.

There can't be anything romantic about a cemetery, could there?

What starts out as a bit awkward, ends up being one of the most wonderful days Mia can remember. They have so much fun together and neither of them wants the day to end.

"...I'm not ready to stay goodbye to you."

What ensues is a whirlwind tour of Paris, very hot sex and maybe some romance. Before too long, Mia starts to get attached to Lucas, but she knows she is going home soon so nothing could ever work between them.....or can it?

Melanie Harlow's contemporary debut is funny, sexy and sweet. Fans of Alice Clayton will love it! More importantly, I loved it. I laughed, I swooned, I even got teary and I'm not a crier. I've read all of Melanie's books and each time I think she can't get better she does. I'm honored to be apart of her writing community and can't wait until everyone else discovers how brilliant she is.

4.5 - Finding Love in France - Stars

I started reading this one and all I could think is

chaching photo tumblr_inline_mpshv38Ypk1qz4rgp_zps15d09c49.gif

We have a winner! Even with the insta-love and some of the cheesy parts (Never say YOLO even spelled out) I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

 photo tumblr_mpn2y3d7qE1qdyeoco1_500_zpscede421d.gif

Mia Devine loves to plan things which works out great with her business at Devine Events as an event planner. She is very organized and also loves lists. She has been planning her wedding forever. A ton of people have been invited, everything is ordered and ready to go and she can't wait.

Only problem is Tucker the Fucker decides to dump her and run off to Vegas. She is depressed but it should be a good thing she didn't marry him since he only likes two sexual positions and has an aversion to bodily fluids.

 photo large_zpsd1df5e66.gif

She is busy wallowing in self pity at their townhouse.

"FML. That's what I need to monogram on all this shit."

Somehow her friends talk her into going on her honeymoon trip to Paris, alone. She gets there and decides to go visit the Eiffel tower. Everywhere she looked, she saw couples in love. A couple even got engaged right in front of her.

hell photo giphy_zpsc0bbae11.gif

After getting more depressed and then getting lost she decides to go in a bar and drown her sorrows. Mia loves her some wine.

alcohol photo tumblr_mej2aiTTWy1rxis0k_zps14247b14.gif

Here she meets a cute bartender named Lucas Fournier. They don't quite get off to a great start.

"I don't care what you call me, I just don't want to hear any more about love tonight, or see it, or smell it in the goddamn air."

After drowning her sorrows and drinking quite a bit of wine and talking to Lucas she states she will leave Paris tomorrow because she is miserable. Lucas is a say whatever is on your mind type so he basically just calls her out on it.

"You just don't want to be here alone because that wasn't the plan."

He talks her into staying one more day with him as her tour guide and if she doesn't like it she can head home. She finds out through them talking that he teaches at NYU and the bar belongs to his brother. He is just working there while visiting his mother. He's not Mia's usual type but while she is talking to him she starts thinking

So the next day Lucas starts showing her around and they have a great time viewing Paris. Lucas is great company and a wonderful tour guide. The lust starts building and Mia starts thinking some dirty thoughts about Lucas. Lucky for her Lucas is thinking them too.

Lucas invites her back to his apartment to listen to music and hang out and all Mia can think is

 photo ngg6-Copy_zpsb6a13874.gif

So Mia gets to experience lots and lots of sex in more than just the two approved positions that Tucker allowed.

 photo 6232820_zps0ec34171.gif

And let me tell you the sex was H-O-T!

"But Lucas. Jesus Christ, Lucas was a whole new world."

Then like all good things they must come to an end.....I mean her and Lucas live in different states and she has her business so it would never work out....Right?

"I really wish I'd have met you under different circumstances, Mia Devine. But I'm not sorry about anything we've done. Only that this is hurting you."

And then guess who shows up! Tucker the Fucker! Guess he got tired of banging hoes in Vegas.

 photo new-girl-smile_zps0e1ef6c2.gif

I started thinking if she takes him back I will punch her in the tit.

Anyways, I can't tell you the whole story so go read it for yourself!

**** 4 Amour à Paris Stars****

Frenched is a really cute, funny but a bit predictable story. Reading this book has made me desperate to plan a trip to Paris soon and fall in love with the city, and maybe a hot French/ American man who is willing to kiss me under the rain...

Mia is a planner, she's always one step a ahead of everything and extremely organized, qualities that come in handy for her job as owner of a wedding planning business. She has been so consumed with planning her own dream wedding that didn't stop to recognized the big flaws in the relationship with her fiancé and now she's heartbroken and devastated after he calls off the weeding via text message only a week prior to the event. After being hold up in her apartment crying for almost a week her best friends give her an intervention and practically force her to go to Paris and take advantage of the paid in full trip that was suppose to be her honeymoon.

On her second night in Paris Mia is feeling down after noticing all the love and romantic vibe that this city offers. Now her plan is to look for a neutral place without any couples in love around, and drink her sorrows with really good wine . She stumbles upon a Canadian Sports bar and that's where she meets Lucas; the sexy and rugged looking bartender who will become her very own Paris tour guide. These two very quickly find themselves enchanted by the city's romance and paired with their extreme sexual chemistry, Mia will find more than she ever imagine in her Paris adventure...

 photo imagejpg1_zps9f58cf4b.jpg

I really loved this book, it had a lot of romance and spice, a great combination, if you ask me... The characters were highly likable and their story took me on a delicious journey of love for all things Parisian. Now, on to the negative part of my experience, I've read a few books with a similar plot and more than once I found myself effortlessly and positively predicting what would happen next in the story, which was not good.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a cute romantic comedy set in one the most beautiful cities in the world. I will leave you with my Frenched playlist as I need to hurry up and call my travel agent to plan my next Paris getaway, because I've highlighted every place Mia and Lucas visited together. After reading this book I'm eager to experience some of the delicious wine, beautiful landmarks and why not? some of the romance. *wink

I adored this book! It's romantic, sweet and sexy. I thought it was really funny too, I really enjoyed this author's writing style.

When we meet Mia, she has just been dumped by her boyfriend one week before their wedding. She is devastated and humiliated and is just hiding out in her house wallowing in her misery. Her friends convince her to go on her already paid for honeymoon to Paris by herself. She takes their advice, and flies to Paris alone even though she's afraid to fly and is sad to be going by herself. She has a rough first day in Paris, but fate brings her into a bar where she meets charming, adorable Lucas.

It didn't take long for Lucas to make her forget all about her douche bag of an ex. Let me tell you this my smut loving friends, this author knows how to write an impressive love scene. The chemistry and emotion was off the charts. I love books that make me feel the butterflies.

I usually get annoyed and bored with books that have this much sex in them. In my opinion, not very many authors can pull it off without it becoming over the top or cheesy. I will admit there were times where I thought someone should throw Mia in a cold shower, but then again I couldn't really blame her! I loved every minute of this book.

I thought the ending of the book was perfection!!

This was a good story, even better for readers who’ve been to Paris as the travel through the city was very accurate and reminded me of my honeymoon. That being said, I may be slightly biased because I did love that city so much.
I liked that the hero in this book wasn’t flawlessly perfect, he was a bit short and kinda unkept. I’m a little sick of the perfect hero in most romances today. I also liked that he was sweet, this is a change for this author as she usually writes complete assholes (though perhaps it isn’t a change as this is her first contemporary romance so I guess she has evolved into the hero being an asshole with infantile emotional maturity).
The heroine was a bit annoying and controlling and very shallow but she did improve throughout the story so there was character growth.
Reading other reviews of this book I expected it to be hotter as everyone says this is a racy book. I guess that depends on the reader as I found the sex scenes steamy but not shocking or racy. Tying someone up just isn’t the taboo thing it used to be. It’s actually almost vanilla now, or maybe it just is to me 🤷🏼‍♀️.
But overall this was a nice love-in-Paris story with a HFN ending (though I’ve read other MH books where these characters have cameos so I know they do end up HEA).
I hope this author can maybe change course a bit with her new works and go back to writing a sweet, flawed but supportive and emotionally mature male protagonist like Lucas. I’m sick of the dickhead man babies.
Maybe I’m just a lucky person who has mostly only known strong, sweet, emotionally available men and can’t relate to loving an asshole. Kudos to my husband. ❤️

UPDATE: Don’t read the sequel, it will ruin this book for you. Wish I could unread that thing.

What an utterly delightful story!

(Thank you Jeanne for the recommendation!)

So if you were jilted via text message a week before your huge expensive wedding to a seemingly perfect guy (handsome, rich) and your friends talk you into going to Paris, where you were suppose to honeymoon, and where you've always wanted to go, what would make the hurt, the loneliness, and the embarrassment better?

How about running into a guy who was willing to be your tour guide because he wants you to love Paris and not let a douchebag ruin someplace she's always wanted to explore?

How about that same guy, though he doesn't sound, look, or feel like what you thought you wanted and doesn't check those neat little boxes on your list of perfect guy, is sweet, thoughtful, and fun?

Then how about meeting a guy that you are have such chemistry with, not only will give you the orgasm that you weren't getting but makes sure you have more than one? A guy that gives more than he takes. That fulfills you like you've never been fulfilled before.

"Listen, I don't know what kind of assholes you've been with before, but I promise you, your orgasms will not only make an appearance tonight, it will be the star of the show."

And finally how about falling for a guy who you didn't expect to fall in love with, who's totally different than what you thought you wanted all along, but turns out exactly what you've wanted and needed and craved?

Bravo to a none aggravating story. I say that because this is one of those books that when a situation or an event happens and you want it to go one way or you want them to say one thing and you just know they're going to say or do something opposite but in this story - she/he/it/they did exactly what I wanted them to and it was great!

What could have turned out as a lonely sad trip was instead a million times better than it could have ever been had she gone with her ex-fiance, who on paper looked right, but wasn't actually right for her at all. It's a wonderful story that - as much as you plan and organize and list, sometimes what isn't planned or organized or listed down turns out to be the so much better than you imagined.

The dialogue was easy, the interactions between Mia and Lucas were fun, the story was sweet, the setting was beautiful, and the sexing was hot.

"These last few days with you have my head spinning too...I don't know what to make of it. This has never happened to me before. I feel something real for you, Mia. Anything is possible for us."

Mia's fiance has just called off their wedding (which is only a week away) via text before he went straight to Vegas for a week long vacation full of sex and celebration on his near escape from the ball and chain, or at least that's what his Twitter post says!

Devastated, Mia decides (along with some convincing from her friends) to still go on her Paris honeymoon...solo. Once in Paris, she is sickened by all of the people in love who seem to be running around like idiots.

Over it, she enters what she feels in the least romantic place in Paris, a Canadian sports bar. She meets Lucas, a sympathetic French/American bartender with scraggly hair and facial scruff. He is so not her type.

"I thought he could be handsome if he'd invest in a razor and a good haircut."

But Lucas serves her the best wine she's ever tasted so she pours her heart out about the break up, how much she hates Paris and her plans to fly home the next day. Lucas convinces her to give Paris just one more day and offers to be her tour guide.

Surprisingly, she ends up having a very good time with Lucas and he actually seems to be getting cuter by the minute. Suddenly she's less focused on the sites and more on him.

"Stop it Mia. And don't even look at his crotch right now. Don't do it, don't do it, don't-
I did it. I couldn't help myself."

She realizes that one day isn't enough with him.

"My desire for him went from Butterflies in the Belly to Wet in the Panties."

Amen, sister! She acts on impulse and is surprised when he responds with equal enthusiasm. The more we learn about him, the more we (Mia and I) fall for him, especially after he brings up his "appetite." preferences.

"And he tied me to the bed. He fucking tied. Me. Up."

Was Mia cool with that? Especially only knowing him for a short time??

Frenched is the first installment in Melanie Harlow's new-adult romance series titled: Frenched. I'm not generally a fan of the new adult genre but goodreads has been relentless with including this title in my recommendations. Plus it was free at the time on Amazon so...why not? Aside from the instalustlove of epic proportions, Frenched was a likable light and sexy romance. Just to clarify, there was a lot of freakin' sex in this book. Just look at the quotes marked on goodreads and you can count on one hand the ones that are not associated with a sex scene. This is not erotica and it was too much for a contemporary romance in my opinion even if it is new-adult. Regardless, I liked the heroine and all her organized list-making and I liked the incorporation of French culture from an American's point of view. Based on my personal enjoyment, I'm not interested in continuing this series though but if you like a variety of different romances then check it out!

Ohhhh my heart, this sweet love story is the balm I needed to heal my battered heart after coming off a particularly brutal and horrible read. MH is a comfort author for me, and I loved this so much!!! It was such a cute and clever story, and I really loved the lists!

Frenched starts when Mia is dumped by her fiancé Tucker the Fucker via text one week before their lavish wedding. Her friends convince her to take their Paris honeymoon trip and decompress. Her first night she wanders into a bar and meets French/American Lucas, who offers to show her around Paris. Queue insta-attraction and steamy feels that evolve into full blown feelings.

But he lives full time in NYC, her in Detroit and uh…bombshell. He never wants to get married. These two find their way, and I just loved them both. She’s hilarious, cute and spunky. He’s earnest, smart and sweet. A really lovely read!
