The twentieth century has seen the mightiest moves of the Holy Spirit since the Day of Pentecost. Move after move of God has rolled across the earth. The twenty-first century is upon us, and Christians should know from where they’ve come. They should know about the “heroes of the faith,” so they can move forward with God and boldly carry the Gospel to the ends of the Earth. In this book, one of the great leaders of faith writes of his vast experience and knowledge of the men and women who began movements and churches that still exist today. Some of the men and women you will read about include Smith Wigglesworth, Howard Carter, Lillian Trasher, F.F. Bosworth, Finis Jennings Dake, Stanley Frodsham, Stephen and George Jeffreys, and Carrie Judd Montgomery.
Excellent book, very edifying, and inspiring. I learned a lot about the pioneers of faith. It is well written, easy, and enjoyable to read. This book definitely will increase your faith and hunger for things of God!
This is an excellent history of several ministers of the latter rain outpouring of the Holy Spirit shared by world renowned evangelist Dr. Lester Sumrall, who knew each of these ministers personally. For those interested in the history of the 'Pentacostal' movement, another excellent resource (which I'm reading currently), though very difficult to get ahold of is 'With Signs Following' by the late Stanley Frodsham - who happens to be one of the ministers whose biography is given in this book.
I expected this book to be more of a brief history of these men and women of God, instead it was more about the encounters that the author had with these people. This book did emphasize the importance of following the Spirit of God and that was inspirational.
This tells the story of people Lester met during his life that started the churches of the Pentecostal Movement. Read this book so you can learn how to follow Jesus to lead others to Him!
