This was Ok, but I thought both main characters sucked LARGE. The H, Drake, because he was such a wuss and honestly quite stupid when it came to the whiny OW and the safety of his kingdom, and the h ,Ember, was absolutely selfish in the choices she made that hurt an innocent because of her pride. I can’t really review and give zero spoilers, so I’ll tag the rest, but will try to be vague.

This is my second book by Ms. Rudraw, and the same complaints apply: the h has so much animosity toward the H, that the romance between them is unbelievable. And then she gives birth to his daughter, and refuses to tell him OR HER OWN PARENTS. That's unforgivable to me, especially since her reasoning is based on her own pride and personal hurts. The father isn't a bad guy, he just supposedly rejected her. That's not a reason for raising your daughter to believe she had no other family. It's bullshit. I couldn't finish this book.

DNF.

I am reminded of these old sayings with this one -

"Anyone can write, but not everyone can be a writer..."

“Good writing can be defined as having something to say and saying it well. When one has nothing to say, one should remain silent. Silence is always beautiful at such times.” by William Faulkner

“A good book isn’t written, it’s rewritten.” by Phyllis A. Whitney

"The world is a hellish place, and bad writing is destroying the quality of our suffering" by Tom Waits

"If people cannot write well, they cannot think well, and if they cannot think well, others will do their thinking for them," by George Orwell

All of the above apply to the person who wrote it. I am sorry, I am not bashing author but nothing ups my nerves then when someone puts something down in print and publishes for the world to see & read and doesn't ever bother to check their work.

Read reviews people. Everyone and their mother is complaining about the writing here and they are 100% correct to do so.

It's very simple really:
-If English is not your main language, write it in your own language.
-If you can't hire a proofreader, have family & friends do it for you.
-If your attention span has wondered and you are no longer feeling it, put it aside and come back or change the damn thing from beginning to end to make sense!
-If you finally finish it, take the damn time to read it yourself to see if it makes sense or puts you to sleep!
- And for Pete's sake, USE SPELL CHECK!!!! What is everyone writing on these days? Paper & pen? We are not in the middle ages people! We, the readers, don't need to know you flunked in school and can't spell simple words! We don't need to be embarrassed for you!

Obviously I don't recommend this and won't bother going into the plot because I don't think the writer even had an inkling idea what the plot was anyway, or romance, or anything else.

Honestly this was so terrible I don’t even want to write a review. I skipped like 30% of this book. Was this written by AI or possibly someone who does not fully comprehend emotions?

Weak weak weak H...

Rejected mate = H rejects his fated mate for the OW who is the sister of his "brother not by blood". H made a promise to the brother that he would care for and marry the OW when brother was dying. So why weak? H is a total dumbass and incredibly immature. H is the heir to the throne and his marrying/mating the h would stop a decades long war between their kingdoms. So if they marry/mate, they are preventing more war, saving thousands of lives and finally giving peace to two kingdoms. But, nah, let's be selfish, immature, and just plain stupid to reject the very thing two kings want and have agreed will happen all for a spoiled OW who is a terrible person. H knowingly rejects h because of his promise...the same one that his father, the king, gave him a direct decree to break/ignore and do his duty to the kingdom by being with the h. And what are the repercussions??? H loses his fated mate for years but is still made king. Really??!! He directly and blatantly disregards a decree from the king (two kings really) and he has no punishment? Irritating. I could never see the H having a backbone or being a good king if all he can see and all he cares for is himself and his own feelings.

OW drama = OW consistently carries on with crying fits, temper tantrums and such to get and pull H's attention away from the h. H caves every single time. OW wants to break the fated bond between H and h, so she resorts to a banned spell to break the bond. The spell ends up causing the H and h to finally consummate their "relationship" (but not complete mate bond). H figures out that he was drugged/spelled and the OW gets banished to the human realm (same place h ran to when escaping the H and his rejection). So, you try and tamper with a mating bond, everyone at the castle including the queen hates you, but you just get banished....cool, cool, cool. OW had also cast a tracking spell on h so she could make sure the h was no where near the H and if she was the OW could then swoop in and take away the H's attention. Well, h ended up having a child from her one night with H and that tracking spell bled over to the child. OW uses that spell to find and kidnap the child for the enemy of the H & h knowing the enemy would kill the child. Nice. Real nice. Comeuppance? h rips out the OW's throat.

Grovel = well gosh...H just HAD to keep his promise and golly gee he's sorry but he has to have integrity, right??? That was his grovel. Did he try and find h when she left, yeah, sure, but if he had not caught the OW drugging/spelling him, would he have put any effort in to locating the h? I don't think so. When he finds out he has a kid, he's angry with the h...not at himself for causing the situation nor taking any responsibility/ownership of the situation. When his kid is taken by OW, he keeps pulling back all while the h is racing forward to do everything she can to get to her child. If not for h pushing hard, H's lackadaisical attitude toward rescuing the kid would have resulted in the kid's death. No grovel for that. No grovel for really anything.

Overall, not a bad story but I did skim read hard as it was just not really my cup of tea. Others may enjoy it more.

The first person to third person (and back again) narration is really hard to follow. Also the author should remove the first person narration from the 5 yr old. It isn't believable from a 5 year old. It could have easily been written from the point of Rosalana and been as effective. No where else in the book are either of them the narrator, so just take the child out and have Rosalana have the whole chapter. This book needs a good proofread.

Separate from this, Ember and Drake are dumb AF. Their idiocy is a major driving force of this book. It is one of my least favorite troupes. The action was well written but the romantic parts were super cheesy. It was hard to get a feel for any of the characters other than the Summer King (the bad guy). Even Rosalana wasn't developed much and then she was killed. We never learned why she was so awful (greed, spoiled, just cause).

Also, whatever happened to Drake's siblings? They were introduced and then disappeared. What about Ember's 3 "best friends" from her first stay at the shadow castle? Where were they when she came back? His parents are nearby but somehow not made aware that Ember is back and they have a daughter? Did they ever notify Ember's parents that they found her or that she has a kid? They did nothing wrong in this whole story and get thrown away. Why didn't Drake ask her family or the fairy king, from the beginning, to help find his kid or with the impending war? Why did he go to war with a small amount of troops? He is king and has a large territory and other royals. There were so many false starts in characters and plots that just fell off. It's actually hard to write a review because everyone just disappeared from the story for no apparent reason and Drake and Ember were alone a lot, but it seemed by their own choosing.

DNF at 58%.

I was doing my best to ignore the numerous plot holes, typos, and grammar issues, but I'm just not a fan of the trope. I noped out at the scene involving the villain hitting a 5-year-old. Can't do it. Sorry.

This is a well written fated mate story with a twist. The author brings strong characters and weaves a story filled with miscommunication, twists and a smoking hot chemistry. She moves the story fluidly and delivers a fantastic read. Loved and recommend this book.

ugh *spoilers below*

It’s been a while since I wasted my time with a book like this. The story was hard to follow and had a ton of continuity mistakes. I can ignore the spelling/grammar mistakes, but the mistakes in the plot were annoying.

There were random new characters introduced every five seconds. Ember had a new best friend every other chapter and they were always servants.

Why tf did Ember have the right to keep the child away from Drake? Even if he rejected her, he should have at least known about the kid. And why didn’t she tell her kid the truth and be on the lookout for any mysterious powers. Why didn’t the kid have powers until she was abducted?

Even the spice was bad. Their mouths watered any time they looked at each other. Somehow, Ember was curvy but thin and her eyes changed from blue to amber so often that it just got boring. I hated how little control she had over herself.

She was honestly the worst fmc I’ve read in a while. She comes across as strong in the first few chapters, but quickly turns into a whiny teenager. She doesn’t lose the naivety even when she’s an adult caring for a child.

I had to stop reading when Ember decided to make out with the king while her child was missing and being tortured. Why didn’t Drake just tell Ember the truth ever? Why didn’t anyone think it was strange that a werewolf was in the midst of the shadowfae kingdom? Why did we only learn about the summerfae halfway through the first book?

And that leads me to my biggest complaint: wtf is up with randomly having a whole other book tacked onto the first one??

There was some good set up here. I love a rejected mates, hidden baby, unusual pairing book. But this was just… disappointing.

Beware of spoilers!!

This whole book felt like some SJM/Crescent City fanfic, but I didn’t hate it. In fact, the only thing I truly hated was the title. The MMC, Drake, is an idiot (dying friend: “protect my sister” Drake: “ok I’ll one up that and marry this person I don’t even like”). This promise would risk a war that would kill countless people because of his stupid interpretation of taking care of his dead friend’s little sister. What a terrible ruler to risk the lives of two nations for someone you don’t even want to be with. Like, okay buddy, you clearly shouldn’t be trusted with ruling your people. But alas his dumbness single-handedly carried the plot for the first half so there is that. There were some editing errors (mostly choosing the wrong word) and the world building was sparse and confusing but it didn’t pull me too far out of the story. The shifts in tenses were a little much, but I just tried to roll with it.
Examples:
-They took a carriage to the castle, but then later went to a club in modern club-wear with strobe lights and twerking.
-Ember wore a sparkly tube top and mini skirt to go to the market. The market.
-In the first part they accidentally use Amber (her alias in the second half) before she flees instead of Ember but she hasn’t become Amber yet.

Wolf shifters: check.
Fae with wings: check.
Elves: check.
Royalty: check.
Magic: check.
Fated mates: check.
Forced betrothal: check.
Accidental pregnancy: check.
Poor communication: check.
Second chance romance: check.
Confusing world that is modern and medieval and magical: check.
Enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers: check.

The book gets a little rushed feeling and the dialogue gets a little weird in the second half (around chapter 16-end) when Ember returns to the fae lands to find her daughter. It just seemed like the author wanted to wrap it up and it didn’t feel as fluid and kind of put a damper on how I was feeling about the story as a whole.

The cover for this book doesn’t make sense either. Her wolf wasn’t white and he had super long dark hair.

This rating and my feelings for this book are solely based on the vibes and not on how it ranks as a literary masterpiece. I just really enjoyed my time with this book (especially the first half) so I’ll give 3.5 stars.

Bentornate Fenici!

Very bad book, first of all the problems are very badly handled, they can solve them with their magic, but then they don't, they go around and around and then when everything is going to shit, they use the magical abilities. The other thing is the daughter they have in common, she is 4 years old and behaves like a 13-year-old girl for God's sake, this was the worst of all, I like the fuck do they really make a 5-year-old girl who goes to a normal school, behaves like that?

A GREAT READ!!!

This was a short, but great read. There are two additional books within this one. This and the second were both great! I’m heading to the third one now. If you love werewolf fantasies and fated mates with spice, you’ll love them.

DNF @ 3%

I don't usually leave reviews for books I don't finish and I usually don't give up this early in a book either. There were several editing errors including missing words and misspellings of simple words. The author seemed not to know if they were writing in the first person or the third. I stopped reading the second time the author used the third person for the FMC instead of the first which had been used until this point.

It seemed interesting but I can't get behind a book with so many errors in such a short amount of time.

Ember is the werewolf princess and Drake is the Shadow Fae Prince. The two factions had been at war for centuries over land. They are attempting to bring peace and resolution through a peaceful meeting oversaw by the king of the elves. So far, things are not going well. When Ember meets Drake’s eyes…they are mates! They meet in the garden, but both agree they cannot be together. Drake because he promised himself to a blood brother’s sister as he lay dying. Ember because of the feud.

Life has other plans! The parents agree to the mating, so Ember heads to Fae lands. Drake’s intended discovers what occurred and makes plans of her own to break their bond. It is months after Ember has arrived, and the two are forging a strong friendship. Ember loves him deeply! When she hears his true intentions, she goes out for an evening. When the two run into one another, more than the mate bond is at work to help them become intimate. The next day, Ember leaves for the human realm. Unbeknownst to her, she carries their future with her.

Five years later…Ember discovers her child has been taken! She will have to make the trek back to where it all began…to HIM…to FAE! What will he do once he discovers the truth? What will become of her and their child? Read for the conclusion of the story!

Prepare to be spellbound by this masterfully crafted fated mate tale with a delightful twist. The author introduces us to robust characters who navigate a landscape fraught with miscommunication, unexpected turns, and scorching chemistry. From the endearing presence of a charming child to the myriad plot twists that pepper the narrative, this story is an absolute delight from beginning to end. It's no wonder I found myself glued to its pages far longer than intended—it's simply irresistible. With seamless prose, the author skillfully guides us through a journey filled with emotion and intrigue, leaving a lasting impression. The characters' blend of strength, vulnerability, and charisma is nothing short of captivating, evoking a range of emotions from happiness to frustration and sorrow. This imaginative and emotionally charged tale is not just a great read; it's one to cherish and revisit. Not the best

There were so many things that didn't make sense, decisions that were so bizarre and downright stupid and honestly went on far too long
For a start, you have the power to appear wherever you want but you don't use it to check on your kidnapped daughter? Also, why wouldn't you tell the wolf kingdom that one, their daughter is back and oh yeah, your granddaughter has been kidnapped? Also, you've taken the child back (soooo many better ways that could of been done) and you aren't prepared for war? Like, another kingdom stole your child and nothing? At the very least you would prepare for an invasion, have scouts checking on the enemy? Have your wife and daughter moved to the wolf kingdom just in case and a hundred other things. Don't write these things if you have no idea how to actually strategies or plan it out properly where it makes sense. I had to stop half way, I just couldn't with how badly the world was written, nothing made sense and too many plots and storylines that I just did not enjoy this book

Crossing Fate . . .

Attending a peace summit in the elf kingdom—a neutral zone between the shadow Fae and werewolf territories, Ember and her parents watch a Shadow Fae female glare at them. Her wolf mother Queen Lunatha had to calm Ember down as she growled back at the hostile woman. Ember is a werewolf and Drake is the Shadow Fae Prince being used to bring peace in a long drawn-out war. But the two are actually fated mates. Ember becomes pregnant, but when she overhears the heartbreaking news that Drake had promised to marry someone else, she returns to the human realm without telling him of the pregnancy.

When Ember’s child is kidnapped, she will have to return to the Fae kingdom to rescue their daughter, Melodina. Will she now have to tell him the truth? Will he join her in the search for their child? Is it too late for them to have a future together?

This was super cute

This is book one and a super meet cute (a little sarcasm here) for a princess (wolf) and a prince (fae). In this world, the wolves and fae are not friendly rather enemies with a long history. When the peace summit was about to begin the princess and prince meet eyes and feel the pull of being mates. Each shouts no inside their heads . . . Like they can fight it . . . LoL. Neither side is happy however when the Prince tells his dad, the dad says this is the best way to help these non-moving peace talks. This union will facilitate peace because the fae and wolves will be joined. A cute read and happy ending. Read On!

Prince Drake's best friend died in his arms on the battlefield. Friend asked Drake to look out for his sister. Drake says he'll marry her instead. No one asked him to marry her. What was he planning to do when he met his mate?

Fortunately, his mate ends up being Princess Ember the werewolf. Her first reaction upon learning they're mates is "No." So really, they reject each other, since they are enemies.

Their parents think them being mates will form an alliance, and order them to marry.

All the drama really stems from Drake making a promise to marry the OW, a promise no one asked for. I didn't really enjoy this at all.

They're mate's from opposite sides, one wolf, one shadow Fae. Both sides fighting a war for year's.
Their mate bond is used as an alliance to bring peace, but all it brings is heartache when confusion reigns as miscommunication happens.
Because of that they separate.
Time passes and they are brought together again to rescue the result of their union.
This time they work together and together they may finally figure out what fate already knows.
And yes, I loved this!.

It needs more detail. The writing is purely lazy.

Why do the fae and the werewolves not get along? Why are they at a peace summit? Why are the children brought to a peace summit when only one child is the heir?

What are the powers of the individuals? We see them using them, but nothing is explained. Like, how come one fae can cast a truth spell but not another? Why can one teleport but not another?

How does the couple fall in love? We're told they spent time together, but we don't experience those moments, so the love story is just lacking.

This was ok.

This book was ok, for me. Wasn't anything like I thought it would be. Not that that's a bad thing. The characters b seemed a little immature, so the book kind of had that YA feel.

The prince of the fae, Even, and the princess of the werewolves, Ember, end up meeting and fate handled the rest . Lots of back and forth with these two. The fight scenes were great. There was some confusion in the wording , but that didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the story. All in alk , I thought it was a good read !!

Cute Read

This book is a rejected 2nd chance romance and was pretty good. She does give the story line a twist by pairing werewolf and fae. I would say the angst is light for a rejection book. It did have me turning the pages, ignoring my family invested for a second, lol. I am going to check the others in this series. I gave 4 stars bc the ending was a bit cheesy and comes upon you abruptly, but I still enjoyed it.

only gets 2 ⭐️s for the plot

The plot is great. But the bad grammar, misspellings, use of the wrong words in places, and use of extra words that make no sense in the context of the sentences make the continuity of the book very difficult to read.
I’m literally halfway through the book and seriously considering just giving up because of how much of a chore it is to keep re-reading sentences to try to make sense of them.

felt like a good start

I liked the general premise but the writing felt young. Gave 3 stars but kind of felt more like two. Some of the errors definitely pulled me out and I’m usually able to let them go. It felt choppy but like I said good start. I was also surprised it was only half the book and there are apparently more in it? I didn’t read the rest. I’m ready for my next shift.
