The world opens up a bit more... after Joe and Alice, with Barton Street, managed to defeat the rampaging Tyrannosaurus of the last book, a whole new landscape (literally!) is opening up as the super-connection to Chicago is laid. Chicago's Boss AI (a big nasty rattlesnake) has its own human backers and controls a desert landscape filled with canyons, flash floods, sandstorms, and caves. This time, Joe and Alice aren't alone, because at least two different groups of government agents have infiltrated the dimension in order to investigating growing reports of weird phenomena that happen in dimensional space.

Furthers the concepts that were explored in the last book and gives us a feel for some of the possibilities of a world where you can travel through large numbers of dimensions and interact with other intelligences besides other people. A fascinating story and I'll keep my eye open for more releases in this series.
