A Buddhist for 40 years, as well as being closely involved with the Quaker movement, Pym aims this book at those who don't realize that embracing Christian values can be complementary to being a Buddhist. He offers a refreshing, look at an ancient philosophy, in terms of contemporary life.
The author puts across a beautiful message of how simple, open ended, and how similar it is to Christianity, Buddhism is. It's a great way to reassure someone who is new to the religion that you don't have to change your beliefs completely around if you're thinking about Buddhism. However, I was looking for literature with more structure in it to build my conclusions of the religion. This book didn't have it, nor did it leave me feel like I learned something new that I didn't already know about it (I have some understanding of the basics), inspired or for that matter, interested in reading on in the book. I wanted to. I wanted to give this book a fair chance from front to back, but I had a hard time keeping my eyes glued to the pages. That's a shame though, especially when I was at the very least endeared by his message of good will.
