Journey To The Future: A Roadmap for Success for Youth

Rate this book
This is the book I wish someone had handed me when I was 16 so I could have gotten a head start on my success in life. It describes the core values that we must have to live a happy, healthy, and successful life. It explains how our life is built around choices we make and how those choices determine our success or failure in life. This book encourages you to sift through all the messages you get about being a boy or girl, and becoming a man or woman, to throw out what you believe is not you, find the real you, and-most importantly-be happy with who you are. Through a collage of stories, personal experiences, facts, inspiration and humor, this book will help you discover and appreciate your own uniqueness.

I had the pleasure in meeting the author Consuelo Kickbusch at a Latino Summit in Omaha, NE. She is one of the most influential person I've met; her speech was incredibly inspirational. She is a phenomenal lady who has gone through a lot in her life.

After serving many years as an U.S. Army, Consuelo retired to make her mother's dying wish a reality-to become a true leader in our country. She is now a motivational speaker across the U.S. and Mexico. Her book is written mainly for teens; her goal-to motivate them in reaching their fullest potential.

A motivating book that will inspire this generation.

Although there were some good points made in this book I felt as if it was severely conservative and outdated, i felt as if it shamed teen mothers and sometimes it even made insensitive jokes/references. Would not recommend it to anyone honestly.

We heard this woman speak at work and while she was entertaining- she didn't reach me as she did others. My boss however, loved her, bought her book, and asked that I read it. I did, but didn't enjoy it. It is written for teens to improve their lives and outlook. I found it unimaginative as well as unremarkable. Her stories were a bit self-congratulatory and the quotes she used did not connect with me either. I was happy to pass the book along after I finished it to someone who found the author an inspiration and wanted a copy of the book for herself.

I met Consuelo Kickbush at a conference and was touched by her sincerity and by her love for people. Speaking with her after her presentation, I was struck by her compassion, her honesty, her openness, and her genuine love for others. She is an amazing human being. I enjoyed her book--I think it is a good basic step for a teen--or anyone--to improve and do more to improve their self worth and put them on a good path. I am thankful to have met Consuelo and felt of her spirit.

This book to me is about self reflection and finding your true self worth. Consuelo Castillo goes on about her life story but also tells story's of young students that she has visited being a guest speaker and their stories as well will touch your heart just as hers. This novel really makes you think of the person you are and what you can do to change it.
