Stop Autism Now! A Parent's Guide to Preventing and Reversing Autism Spectrum Disorders

Rate this book
Over 1 million people have autism. This number is rapidly growing. Over the past several years autism has increased to epidemic proportions. Thirty years ago it affected only 1 in 2,500; today 1 out of every 88 children in the United States and 1 out of 64 in the UK are affected. Autism has quickly become a worldwide problem.
Over the past 12 years there has been a 17 percent increase in childhood developmental disabilities of all types including autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), epilepsy, mental retardation, and others. Currently in the United States, 4 million children have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, the most common learning disability, and an incredible one in six children are classified as learning disabled.
Why the sudden astronomical rise in developmental disabilities? Most doctors have no clue what causes autism, nor any idea how to prevent or even treat it. The only medically recognized form of treatment is an attempt to teach affected children how to manage the disorder and live with it. Antidepressants, antipsychotics, and stimulants are often prescribed to help them cope with their symptoms. No possibility of a cure is offered, as the condition is considered permanent—in other words, hopeless.
Autism, however, is not a hopeless condition. It can be prevented and successfully treated without the use of drugs. This book describes an innovative new dietary and lifestyle approach involving coconut ketone therapy that has proven very successful in reversing even some of the most severe developmental disorders, allowing once disabled children to enter regular school and lead normal, happy, productive lives. There is a solution. You can stop autism now!

Written by "Dr" Bruce Fife huh? Tell me doctor, how do you "stop" and "reverse" Down's syndrome or bipolar disorder? You cannot cure autism! You can try treatments, but there has never been an empirical study that concluded a successful treatment for autism. The only effective treatment is behavior based therapies that can help the child manage symptoms and teach parents how to navigate their child's difficulties in a successful way. BUT YOU CANNOT CURE IT! Though looking at "Dr" Bruce's books, he would probably say that coconut water could sure MS or diabetes too.

Oh, one last thing, "Dr" Bruce. Provide me one (just one) peer reviewed study that said autism is an epidemic. Then I might buy your theory. But unfortunately for your book, most real doctors acknowledge that the rise in autism spectrum disorders, ADD, ADHD, and syndromes like it is mostly due to better screening and increased awareness of how to diagnose these syndromes in the larger medical community. Just one study, peer reviewed, then I'll believe this epidemic bullshit. Until then, I'll just refer you back to the vaccination debacle...remember that one?

I am autistic and you can’t “cure” autism. This author is describing people with autism as mentally crippled, and that we’ll “never have a happy life” unless we “reverse” it. Seriously?? Yeah, I have my fair share of mental health issues and it is difficult doing a lot of things. But I also excel at so many other things that non-autistics don’t. Like someone else said – we’re just wired differently. Don’t imply autistic people can never be happy.

I can not get over how much I am offended!! I have mild autism spectrum disorder. I am proud of it and I know I can’t cure it. Nothing causes autism and nothing can cure it! Autism means your brain is wired differently but that’s not a bad thing! YOU STUPID AUTHOR!!! There’s no way the author of this book is a real doctor!! I think he stole a doctor’s identity. SOMEBODY ARREST HIM!!! Is this book even legal? OMG ITS SOOO SCARY HOW PARENTS ARE RESLLY BUYING THIS FOR THEIR KIDS!!! Somebody has got to sue this guy and put all the autistic people who read and believed it into therapy!! We also need to arrest all the dumb parents who bought this for their kids!! I cannot believe this!!! EVERYONE MUST RISE UP AGAINST THIS “DOCTOR”!!! WHO IS WITH ME?!

The rise of autism spectrum disorders worldwide in the last 30 years is rapidly reaching the level of an epidemic. The book presents an easy way reverse its symptoms (legitimately).

The medical profession has no idea as to what causes autism or how to cure it. The best they can do is to prescribe anti-psychotic drugs to ease the symptoms, and tell the family to deal with it.

There is a strong connection between autism and bowel or digestive problems. Cure your child's Crohn's Disease or Irritable Bowel Syndrome (or whatever the ailment) and the autism may be reduced, or disappear. The author has a lot to say about childhood vaccines. Does the average child really need 48 doses of 14 different vaccines before they are six years old? Among the ingredients in vaccines, aside from the virus, are: formaldehyde, mercury, aluminum, ethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, MSG and mycobacteria. That is going right into your child's bloodstream, where it has easy access to the brain, liver and other organs.

What causes autism? Microglia are the brain's equivalent to white blood cells, protecting it from assault by toxins and other infections. When the brain senses danger, the microglia become very active. They return to normal when the danger is over. If assaults on the brain become more frequent, the microglia can stay activated. In the long run, they can do a lot of damage, including disrupting the regular glucose metabolism. If those cells have problems turning glucose into energy, brain function declines. Older children lose some of their social and cognitive skills. Children under 2 years old never learned these skills, so they may seem to have been born autistic.

What can a parent do? The book goes into lots of detail, but start feeding your child coconut oil each day, adopt a low-carb diet, make sure they get some fish oil each week (the best method is by eating fresh fish) and raise their level of Vitamin D, either through supplements or sending them outside.

Can reversing autism really be this easy? This book is very highly recommended for all parents, whether or not an autistic child is in the family.

This is a deeply offensive hate book. Firstly, autism cannot be cured. There are no cures. There are no treatments. It is a lifelong condition. No diet will prevent, improve or reverse autism. What does reversing autism even mean? Going back to a time before I was autistic? That's like saying you can reverse the fact I have green eyes or reverse the fact I have small feet. It's just not possible. My eyes were always going to be green. My feet were always going to be small. I was always going to be autistic.

Now here's the rub for the neurotypical parents who are presumably the target audiences for this hate filled book. I'm autistic. I don't want to be cured. My mental health, ability to cope and everything important to me improved when I stopped tying to be neurotypical and accepted that my brain works differently.

I don't make eye contact. Social situations are alien to me. I rock, spin, hand flap and stim. I have intense special interests. I am very obviously autistic and I'm happier than I've ever been because I'm not pretending to be something I'm just not. I will never be neurotypical. I don't even know what I would be like if I was. I don't think that other person, the me without autism, could be me at all.

If you, as a parent of an autistic child, truly love your child and want what's best for them you will stop seeking a cure. You will stop reading books like this. You will start learning about how to accept your autistic child and love them for who they are, not who you wish they might be. You'll let them just be themselves. Maybe think that it's not autistics who need to change, it's the neurotypical expectation that everyone is like them.

Which one of us really can't accept change or difference?

Lots of good info; easy read. His recipes would be much healthier if he adhered to the principles of the Weston A. Price Foundation diet. Good summary on why we should be eating coconut oil.

It's genetic. People are born that way. Meaning you can neither stop nor reverse it.

I'm autistic and I find this book very offensive. Autism cannot be cured. Preventing and trying to cure autism will only make things worse.
