I should have looked at the date when published before buying. I thought it would be based on all the books and films in the series. I skipped a whole lot as some things I felt shouldn't have been in there and in some articles the author got information wrong that fans of the books will instantly recognise. Money not well spent.

Some of the information wasn’t accurate. Other times, it was a little repetitive or things I’ve heard before. There were definitely sections that were thinly linked to the Hunger Games :(
Still, an entertaining read if you want something to satiate your hunger games fix.

It was fine! Some good and entertaining information and fun facts, but otherwise was just another quick read and money maker for the author. I enjoyed it, nevertheless.

Dit boek is een informatief boek over de film The Hunger Games en is opgebouwd als een soort woordenboek. Elke letter heeft bepaalde woorden die in verband staan met dit boek. Er is informatie te vinden over de acteurs, regisseurs, personages en de boeken zelf.

Zelf heb ik dit boek gekocht op het Boekenfestijn in Utrecht, en aangezien ik al een boel extra boeken naast The Hunger Games heb en de films bezit wilde ik uiteraard dit boek niet missen. Ik ging met enthousiasme dit boek in en hoopte veel informatie te kunnen vinden over de film.

Dit was deels ook zo. Elke acteur/actrice en personage werd beschreven. Van de acteurs kreeg je een uitgebreid levensverhaal te horen en dat is best leuk om te lezen. Daarnaast staan er nog dingen in het boek over de boeken zelf en worden ook de personages uit de boeken wat uitgewerkt. Dit vond ik wel een leuke toevoeging aan The Hunger Games. Ook staan er genoeg dingen in over de productie van de film en de promotie ervan, en ook de afbeeldingen in het midden van het boek zijn zeker de moeite waard om te zien.

Maar waarom dan die 5? Dat is als volgt. Waarschijnlijk had de schrijver weinig inspiratie om het boek te vullen, en daarom zitten er ook genoeg onbenullige dingen in het boek die totaal geen toegevoegde waarde hebben aan het verhaal. Miley Cyrus wordt bijvoorbeeld helemaal beschreven, alleen maar omdat ze in die tijd de vriendin van Liam Hemsworth (Gale) was. Haar hele leven wordt verteld, terwijl dat niks met de film te maken heeft! Ook de films waarin de acteurs eerder in hebben gespeeld worden ook beschreven, van de verhaallijn tot aan de mening van de acteurs. Deze dingen hadden totaal geen verband met The Hunger Games zelf en daar kon ik me best aan ergeren, waardoor ik dit boek een stuk minder leuk vond dan gedacht. Voor een spotgoedkoop prijsje op het Boekenfestijn is het dus best te doen, maar anders kan je dit boek wel laten liggen!

This Hunger Games companion includes a variety of facts about everything to do with the movie. Readers learn about the cast and crew, their favorite things, foods, anything really! It was a quick and entertaining read.
