All Haisley Herrington’s ever wanted is to own the inn she grew up visiting every summer, but now there’s something else—someone—she wants more.
The owners of the Swallowtail Inn are retiring and want a young married couple to take over. Haisley’s been too busy running the inn to date, making her ineligible for their silly, hopelessly romantic newlywed competition. Then, while tending to a handsome, persnickety guest, she receives an offer she can’t a marriage of convenience.
The problem? If she were a character in a Rom-Com, having a gorgeous doctor propose marriage would be a dream come true. But the last time she checked, this was the real world, she was a plain Jane inn manager, and Dr. Perfect ironed his underwear.
Okay, Dr. Asa Neven isn’t so perfect. After a traumatic experience, the heart surgeon is filling a prescription for R&R at the inn. He’ll do anything to be reinstated, even enter a fake marriage. Haisley does need a husband, so maybe they can help each other. As the competition progresses, the lines blur between their arrangement and a real love straight from the pages of a fairy tale.

I really enjoyed the storyline for this. I can totally see this being a Hallmark or Lifetime movie. This book was fun and had me laugh out loud a few times. The underwear comment had me laughing so hard. I love how we get to see the main characters grow as a couple yet also individually. There were times when I really felt for the characters and other times they made me a little frustrated. I got to experience the ups and downs with them. The little twists and curveballs thrown in that I did not expect made the story more entertaining. I would love to see how the story plays out for these two if there was a sequel.
Thank you to the author for my copy in exchange for a review.
Since I got to 68% before I simply could not take it anymore. I forced myself to get that far & be interested in this whole inn competition thing but it's a little too farfetch & boring to me. The MMC is a stereotype of someone with OCD. The FMC is... one note? Fake marriage isn't really a problem but I'm also not feeling it here. The random uncle conflict is forced, it would have been better if it was one of the other contests. I don't think the writing is really that great but I'm sure someone will find it a cute story. I just don't care about these characters getting a HEA or if she gets the Inn or not to torture myself to continue.
I liked the book. I thought it went a little too long, but I liked how well the characters worked through their problems together. I love happily ever after.
This was the PERFECT beach read. Sweet, romantic, with plenty of twists and turns to keep you from wanting to set it down! Jayna is a FABULOUS writer!!!! Her stories make you feel a part of them. ❤️❤️
