Most non-native English speakers struggle to write a decent volume of words in response to essay topics. In fact, many do not know how to start their work, let alone get to the key points. I have been teaching English to non-native speakers for a long time. Tired of books that assume the students "gets it", I decided to write my own! Let's Get Serious! takes students from the initial stages of a writing topic and shows them how to build up their work, paragraph by paragraph. The book also covers brainstorming as well as useful phrasal verbs and techniques such as cohesive devices and rhetorical questions which can be added into essays. For this doing the Cambridge exams such as Key, Preliminary, First and Advanced, there is a useful checklist to follow. If students simply followed the checklist, their writing would instantly improve. The book ends with a list of potential essay writing topics for practice as well as some useful templates.
