College? Dating? Fun? Not for this girl. I have a one-way ticket to the werewolf academy.
Which is strange since I’m not fully convinced I’m a werewolf. Anyway, I thought the politically correct term was shifter. I haven’t sprouted fur, and my pink nails haven’t lengthened into claws. No cravings to run into the night and hunt for harmless animals.
I have been feeling off. Fevers. Insatiable hunger. Enhanced senses. There’s also the little spontaneous fire issue.
My mom thinks I will find myself here.
I think it’s a flipping waste of time but I can’t exactly move onto a regular life.
This place will have to do.
I expected something like a convent —although we weren’t Catholic —or maybe just a military school for girls. And I thought it would be out in the middle of nowhere, like it one of those gothic novels I was into at thirteen or fourteen.
But the car they sent to pick me up had prep school all over it. My parents were not prep-school wealthy, and since they were at work when the uniformed driver loaded my beat up duffels into the trunk, they weren’t home to ask.
When I arrive, I find this is nothing like a convent at all. It’s a college under the guise of the name academy and the classes all revolve around being a shifter. I don’t know how this will translate to real life for me, but I’m here for it. Maybe I can figure out what exactly I am.
The males outnumber the females by a mile. And a lot of them have their eyes on me–another different experience.
Maybe this werewolf thing isn’t so bad after all.
Minx is Book 1 in the super sweet with building heat Werewolf Academy series. Minx features a female who is struggling to come to terms with who she is in a new school environment and meeting her fated mates. And of course, Mazzy promises a happy ever after. If you like true mates, Fate taking a hand, and a whole school of shifters one-click Minx today.
Mazzy J. March is a fan of all things paranormal--shifters, vampires, witches...dragons and all the many creatures that inhabit the world beyond the ordinary. She has been plotting her Academy stories for a long time and is thrilled to finally have them releasing and ever grateful to the readers who are offering such support and helping her dreams come true.
I knew due to the length that the novella would likely be shallow in plot and world building but it had far more issues than just that. There were multiple instances of inconsistency as well as confusion. The plot would just jump. I’d have to reread the past paragraphs to try to understand how we got from point A to point C. The FMC would state she’s never been kissed then later that she had kissed a few guys in high school. FMC would act like she didn’t know something that was said to her multiple times. Initially the story is presented as she didn’t know she was a shifter or that her parents were also shifters. But then it quickly changes to she knew her whole life and her parents never told her about the shifter world or what to expect as one! With no reason to why they didn’t when she confronted them. Just so many errors. I only completed it because it was so short. Had it been a full length novel that was written so poorly there’s no way I would have finished it.
The writing is horrible. There is no continuity in the story from paragraph to paragraph let alone chapter to chapter. Many sentences are awkwardly written. The idea for the book sounds interesting, but this book is all over the place. It needs to be reworked, edited, and it could be a lot better.
The first little bit in the book Minx seems to be completely in the dark about supernatural world, then her parents take her to a diner and tell her about werewolves which in the authors words was like in a fantasy book. Now very shortly after that it's like none of that even happened. Suddenly she always knew her "parents (got a feeling she's adopted)" were weres and they had tried to get her to shift and she just didn't have any knowledge of the supernatural world.
WTF is up with that 360?
Later on despite knowing she has a wolf that she should be connecting with, when she hears a voice she has a mental breakdown because she's hearing things, and defective, and should be in an asylum.
These books are quicks reads and generally a decent read, but this is so far below that id recommend skipping this one.
Dear lord is each chapter and even sentence is a different book
34% that's as far as I got. I let the big inconsistencies go from chapter 3 to chapter 4. She doesn't know her parents are wolves., then she does. She's barely a C student to she was a good student and people were sent to her for tutoring. Her roommate was taken to the school office to she was back doing a tour with them in the next 2 sentences. Going to the pickle ball court one sentence and heading to only the gym ans library cause she's tired and the roommate that was in the office...no on the tour...no in their room cause she was tired...wait no in the library. I just couldn't.
DNF 28% So I made it till chapter 6 . That's right, 28% of the book is barely chapter 6. Let me also clarify, this is a high school book with high school like mentality.
The writing in the book is God awful. It's completely inconsistent and very hard to follow. She talks about how her mom is telling her she's a wolf shifter, stuff she's only ever read about in fiction novels, then five minutes later she's 'scenting' a person and saying 'gods!' .
It's just, terrible. I love fated RH type books but this one is just a fail.
This book was super disappointing. The whole story was rushed, characters weren’t fleshed out at all! There was zero 🔥, and after all that fast forwarding she did, it was left with pretty much every question unanswered. The whole thing just fell flat. It was more like a 3rd grader wrote the story, and Mazzy just put her name on it
I…don’t like to be negative in reviews. But the story wasn’t cohesive. It read as though the author wrote a bunch of scenes out of order, strung them together and then didn’t read their finished product. The writing is somewhat elementary, though not terrible. There are plenty of grammatical errors and a few awkward word choices, but most are easily ignored. However, the characters are not fleshed out, the descriptions are at times contradictory, and the plot is basically missing.
Minor spoilers ahead!
For example, the FMC describes herself as not caring about school and struggling to maintain C’s in her classes. But a bit later, she’s mentioned to be tutoring athletes at the behest of their coaches…no instructor would recruit a C student to be a tutor.
The three guys were described with the stereotypical big teddy, boy next door, and dark one personality tropes when they were introduced but their personalities never really deviated from each other and it was incredibly difficult to remember who was supposed to be which.
Then there were story inconsistencies: the biggest being the relationship between the FMC and her parents. The parents raised her as human, to where she thought shifters were only in fantasy books. But throughout the rest of the story, it’s described as though her parents were endlessly hopeful for her shift and constantly being disappointed. That disappointment led to the FMC hiding whatever minor signs did show up and then the FMC spends most of her teenage years believing that she doesn’t have an animal. There are even several instances of the mom reassuring the FMC that she DOES have a wolf, but just needs to wait for the right time. But then after the FMC shifts, suddenly she’s angry at her parents for not supporting her and not believing she would ever shift.
Then there was the ending. As in…there wasn’t one. It’s kinda left on this attempted-cliffhanger ending except…this is -presumably- the only book specifically for Minx. The next books seem to be about other people in the story. But the biggest mysteries about Minx that are introduced in the story aren’t resolved. So why should we care about Minx?
Ultimately it was a confusing and unsatisfying read. There could be potential for the story itself…but it needs to go through another 3 rounds of drafting.
This read like a book outline instead of a completed novel. It was honestly similar to what you would see a teenager write in a forum. Whenever I read a review for a random book where the reviewer says the girls acts like she is 12 or 13 years old instead of an adult I always roll my eyes. They generally seem like exaggerations once I’ve read the book. Due to this I never include those kind of comments in my reviews but let me tell you that the time has finally come. This FMC was 18 and acted like she was a preteen. The author was going for innocent but it felt gross how young she seemed. The guys also seemed really young but then a couple of times implied like “dom” type comments that completely missed the mark as they seemed so unsure of themselves. This book was a scattered mess, had crazy time jumps without any clarity on how much time had passed and had no world building or character development. The inconsistencies were startling and really threw me off every time they happened as well.
I am honestly shocked the author published this book as is and would highly suggest getting new beta readers if others approved of this.
Mind was in a human school where fires kept happening so she was sent to a Wolf academy.
Ok well here is the first problem - Minx states that she only thought that wolf shifters existed in books. But supposedly her parent have talked to her about being a latent shifter. So which is it either she new or she didn't know?
Dnf 60% This book was just not there. It was so simplistic with little to no character building or ... Plot ... I thought I would quickly enjoy just a mindless book, but it just wasn't good. If I was a teenage girl and just wanted a quick read with a familiar trope, this might have worked? Who knows.
Love that this is a non bully academy shifter mates story and the characters are really endearing. Writing is a little simplistic but it’s an easy read so great as an in between. Recommend. 3.5 stars.
DNF 31% because clearly no one actually read and edited this book. So many details and information provided out of nowhere as it was not discussed previously.
How does the main female character (FMC) know that her roomate cannot shift because she is a half human half shifter. This information was not provided on page to the MFC at all. Also, didn't Stevie (the half human half shifter roomate) get called to see the headmistress from the cafeteria? But in the next chapter, literally not even another 250 words of text was she monologing in her head that Stevie decided to study instead of join her and the three dudes (main male characters) to walk around the school and get a tour.
That's barely all of the inconsistencies, I literally tried so hard to ignore the whole set up and premise issues from the beginning of the book. Like did she or did she not know she was a latent shifter? Because the book starts with her parents breaking the news to her that she is actually a wolf shifter but just latent and needs to go to the werewolf academy. But when FML gets there she's talking (or thinking/narrating) as if she has always known due to her many fevers and symptoms and she felt bad for letting her mom down or her moms disappointment in her never shifting.
WAAAAAAY too many inconsistencies in the story and what the author believes the audience who is reading should know but don't because maybe she forgot those details during the many different written drafts of the book.
You know what would have helped with this issue, editors or beta readers. It's just sloppy work honestly and it was super hard to get through and this book is only 113 pages total on kindle. Felt like such a waste of time and I really tried to give it a chance but too many plot issues and writing inconsistencies. I couldn't even bring up the spelling and grammar issues because there were other glaringly more serious issues with the writing.
That's my rant over now. If i could rate this a 0 stars I would.
This book was so rushed and so inconsistent that I, as a very avid werewolf, shifter series reader, almost deeded it by page 2. Do not believe the five star reviews of this book. I don’t know what five star book they are reading, but it is certainly not this one.
I feel like this author didn’t fully think out this book. There’s the potential in each chapter to be great, but whoever read this authors book as a beta read it and an alpha reader, and whoever helped her publish this book did the offer author such an injustice because, this book simply is rushed, inconsistent, and is not true to a chapter book of any kind. The length of this book is more like a novella, and kind of reads like a novella, and the ending/cliffhanger, is not how you end a standalone book in a series.
I could go on and on and on, basically read this book, not worth it. Don’t even read the series because I started book 2 and D by page 10.
Spoiler
The FMC is a sea average student, but by the middle of the book she is tutoring people? Also, the FMC has never kissed anyone in her life and was not interested in any boys, but all of a sudden she used to kiss some boys at school functions and because of that, she now has the confidence to strut around in the nude in front of her three mates and get busy with them but five minutes it seems after her first shift. Also, I don’t even want to talk about what the “substance” is that apparently coats their skin after their first shift. Another inconsistency in this book is that you start off with the FMC not knowing anything about the shifter world whatsoever and then, all of a sudden, she’s upset with her, never believing in her that she was going to shift, never supporting her in her her shift, but then she goes back and is upset that her parents never told her stories growing up about shifting never talk to her about shifting, and then she gets upset with her parents again for not supporting her shifting.
"Minx," the first book in the Werewolf Academy series, delivers a fresh and engaging take on the shifter genre. The story introduces us to a young woman reluctantly thrust into a world she's not entirely sure she belongs to. Despite her doubts about being a werewolf—no fur, claws, or wild hunting urges—she's experiencing strange symptoms: fevers, insatiable hunger, heightened senses, and spontaneous fire incidents. Her mom believes the Werewolf Academy will help her find herself, but our protagonist is skeptical.
Expecting a convent-like atmosphere or a military school, she's surprised when a prep-school-esque car picks her up, leading her to a campus that feels more like a college. Here, the curriculum revolves around the shifter lifestyle, providing a unique backdrop for her journey of self-discovery.
The school dynamic is intriguing, especially with the significant gender imbalance favoring males, many of whom are quite interested in her. This attention adds a new layer to her experience, making her reconsider her initial reluctance about the academy.
Author Mazzy skillfully blends the protagonist's personal struggles with an engaging plot full of potential romance and discovery. The story's promise of true mates and fated connections adds an irresistible allure, while the protagonist's quest to uncover her true identity keeps readers hooked.
"Minx" offers a compelling start to the series, with a relatable heroine navigating a new and mysterious world. The blend of humor, drama, and romance ensures a satisfying read, and the promise of a happily ever after will leave readers eager for more. If you enjoy tales of destiny, shifter dynamics, and finding oneself amidst chaos, "Minx" is a must-read. One-click it today for a super sweet, slowly heating adventure into the Werewolf Academy.

This book was horrible. It's honestly the nicest thing I could say. It gets one star at least because, it had dated mates but let's explore, shall we?
It opens with a girl who had no idea that of the shifter world. She is also, unknowingly setting small fires.
She gets the blame for the fires, and her parents show up, and take her out of the the school with the intention of sending her to another.
Sounds good so far.
They take her to their favourite diner to explain the school that they will be sending her too, and why, and to confess to being shifters, while introducing her to their past packmates. The story at this time, was that they had to leave their pack for reasons unknown...
She handles the news like a champ.
Fast forward...
She arrives at the school and accidentally meets her mates, though she doesn't know what they are because she never grew up in the shifter wold, so, how would she know about mates...
How this is where things begin to go haywire... Confusing.
From here on in, the author has us thinking that she knew she was a non shifting shifter all her life, but, that contradicts everything we JUST read!
The rest and f the book bounces between she didn't know about shifters, to she did know but never studied them... Confusing info from her parents... Still no update, at the epilogue, in why her parents were excommunicated..
Things are extremely messy and contradictory, and honestly, boring.
But hey, score one for the author, there weren't many grammar issues...
The next book is about someone else, so, how do we find out the Other info?
Who called the mother asking questions about her? Did she live HEA with her mates.
Sigh... What is going on?
So, would I recommend this book to friends? No. Sorry. I would not.

This book is one big contradiction. In the beginning of the book when Minx parents pick her up from school and take her to the diner and tell her that they're pulling her out of school to put her into a different School they then explain to her that they are shifters. She says that she thought that was only in books and that she discovered to her parents were wolves. Fast forward a little bit and the story changes to she's always known that her parents were shifters and that she herself had never shifted so she thought she didn't have a wolf. Then fast forward to what was supposed to be her quote unquote first kiss on the roof of the school. Then fast forward after the group date. She was thinking to herself about the fact that she had kissed a couple boys in school but that was it. So how did she kiss boys in school if the kiss on the roof was supposed to be her first kiss. If that's not bad enough none of the characters really had any development behind them. The book seemed extremely rushed and amateurish. Which is shocking because I read quite a few books by this author and enjoyed them. Then the book ends leaving you with so many unanswered questions.

This was definitely a cute book. As explained in the blurb, the FMC is setting fires accidentally and is sent to a werewolf academy because her parents are shifters. There’s an insta-connection between her and Theron, Bohdi, & Grim. It’s a insta-love, fated mates romance. There are some kiss scenes and the scene where they do eventually become intimate is not described in great detail, it’s a YA book, I believe, so that’s to be expected.
There are quite a but of typos in the e-book/kindle version of the story. There are also some weird plot holes that don’t really make sense. The first few chapters for example, it seems as if she has no idea about shifters… then it seems as if she’s known her whole life. This doesn’t make sense, she’s either known or hasn’t known. Initially it seemed as if she had no idea… then she explains that they used to try to get her to shift but she never did. Even though in previous chapters, it was made to seem like this was a revelation to her and not something she had always known.
The premise of the book looks great, girl has a secret gift and she’s sent to a place where she can learn to find her wolf. This is a short read and the main focus is on Minx coming to terms with finding her mates, mostly.
Throughout the story I was confused and had to do a lot of backtracking because the information was inconsistent. There are times where Mix muses about things being relevant to shifters, then say she was raised human and not taught anything shifter related. At one point she vaguely references that what she knows about shifters is from romance novels. Time is also not clear during this book, it all seems to take place within two weeks from start to finish. There are no clear distinction of days at all.
This book ends with some loose ends which hopefully will be dealt with in the other books in the series.
Our heroine knows she is different, but doesn't exactly know in what way. So she is sent to an academy for werewolves, which might help, but she is not convinced. Either way, she is going to have to give it a shot.
This is book one of the series, so all good there.
The story is well written and easy to read, yet with a rather complex and twisted plot involving both a paranormal academy and a reverse harem. The characters are well developed and help to bring the story to life. I like our heroine as she is bit snarky which could come in handy. Overall, a great start to the series and I look forward to seeing what comes next.
Highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Minx, it was another fabulous story about a young woman who is a latent wolf shifter who after burning her locker without knowing she had done so. She is sent to the Werewolf Academy, where she finally meets a girl who becomes her best friend and three male wolf shifters, Theron, Bodhi and Grim, who become her mates. As she struggles without her wolf, their relationship develops and finally they become their own family. But at the end of the book there is a bit of a cliffhanger. Something tells me this is going to be great.

I liked the story. Short but cute. What was hard was the author had a lot of trouble keeping her facts straight. At the beginning she had never heard of paranormals except in books, but then all of a sudden she was raised knowing about them. She had never kissed anybody before her mate, but then she had been kissed a couple of times in high school. There were a few others also. I’ve read other books by this author but it almost seems like several different people wrote this story. Please get a new editor! I enjoy the author’s writing but this one I’m on the fence about.
This just feels unfinished. Part 2 is supposedly her sisters book. This is something I’d approve as a “kiddie book” no real 🔥🌶️ at all even tho she meets her 3 mates as soon as she gets there. On the plus side there’s no bully 💩…so sick of that. But what I like usually needs to be more of an adult read, more 🔥 and more substance to the storyline. I’ll probably check out book 2 when it comes out(if it’s on KU) but won’t be preordered as I had with this book. Also only single pov.
In Mazzy J March's Minx, she knows her parents are wolf shifters, but she never has and has accepted she may never shift. Everything is going fine until one day her locker catches on fire and she is blamed for it. Her parents send her to a shift school where she meets new friends. Three male students set out to welcome her and show her around school. I enjoyed this book. It is a story about teenagers, reverse harems and fitting in.

This book was pretty okay, it was really short and straight to the point, which I really appreciated. We didn’t get to really know the characters but for such a short book it’s okay, and it’s understood. I do feel like there were a lot of plot points that were kind of glossed over, and not really gone into.
The ending was really cool, but I saw it coming because I read the blurb for Ava. It doesn’t come out until the 25th, but I don’t really see myself reading it. Anyway the book was exactly as advertised :)
Use the money you earn to learn how to make the story more cohesive. Take some classes. You are good with storytelling, and it is very fun. But the character says she has never been kissed, but in chapter 21, she got kissed at dances? Too much of things like that. Make notes! Read your notes. Make a storyboard. And your lead only talks to a few people? She is surrounded by students but only talks to one or two. I'd love to read you in the future. Home you put in the work to be truly great.
Minx is book one of the Werewolf Academy series. Minx is struggling to find out who and what she is. She found that her parents were wolf shifters. Her parents sent her to a college for the Paranormal. This is a fast page creative storyline. I love Mazzy's writing style and her unique characters. It's a great read!.

It was an ok read. Light on everything. I felt that the author had a lot of ideas and couldn't make a decision on which way the story should go. Also, there were many unanswered questions. For instance: why or how she could manifest fire. It touches on it a little bit, but even that didn't make sense. Who were the people inquiring about her back at home? Why would they? The story has promise but needs to be cleared up.

Our main gal is clueless as the the flames sprouting around her and has been left in the dark about her heritage due her being latent and never shifting. Until every recently she start showing signs. She is whisk away to a new school and and is instantly attracted to 3 guys and it just gets steamier from there as she learns and grows. Can’t wait for the next book after that cliffy bomb.
