I just want to say before I get too into this—I really do love Raiya. She had so much compassion, and she kept her kind heart even through her horrible marriage. Her kindness toward Azreth, despite her justifiable fear, showcased her character.
With that being said, for every good decision she made, she made three bad ones. Time and time again, she was making horrible calls that didn’t just hurt her, but put Azreth in horrible positions. She was far too trusting, even knowing better, and it started to become frustrating, especially at the end.
Azreth was an interesting character. We didn’t have his point of view, but it was easy to see how he wanted so badly to trust Raiya’s kindness. This poor demon had been through so much hardship, and it was a treat to see his feelings for Raiya develop even against his own will.
The story’s pacing was pretty good. It’s one of those books where the pages just fly through and before you know it, you’re 3/4 of the way done. I thought the setting felt a bit claustrophobic, as we really didn’t venture far from the castle, but it worked here.
Overall, this was a great spicy story with some tender moments to boot. I’m interested in this world and will be exploring more.

Listen, if there's one thing that's gonna get me to read a book it's a love interest with a tragic backstory, magic powers, blue skin, and horns. Not necessarily in that order!!!
Things to love:
- Well-written, well-paced, never boring, funny, sweet, spicy, and laced with action! The dialogue, the romance, the stakes, the plot — it's all well thought-out and crafted with purpose.
- Raiya is smart (she literally knows ancient runic languages), clever (she saves Azreth as many times as he saves her!), and importantly, she knows that when someone says "you're not like other girls" it's not a compliment
- Sort-of-enemies --> reluctant allies --> friends --> lovers = exquisite vibes. We get funny conversations and moments, but also trust-building and vulnerability and sweetness.
- Loved that Azreth was so strong with the capacity for such violence, but he wanted so much to be gentle 🥺 soft boi 🥺🥺🥺🥺
- ONE BED AT THE INN ONE BED AT THE INN ONE BED AT THE INN
- I really liked that characters aren't just Perfect Person A falls in love with Perfect Person B. They make mistakes, and they acknowledge darker parts of themselves, but they still do their best to show up for one another.
- Jai and Madira's grumpy/sunshine dynamic was so fun
- Azreth loves animals 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Things not to love:
- I mean... now that we know about spicy scenes with magic extra hands.. how can we go back to scenes with just regular hands....
Final thought: This book has adventure, romance, and humor in spades, and it's thoughtful and well-written. Highly recommend for fantasy romance fans, especially if you're a little picky / good writing is important to you.

For a demon romance, this was shockingly not that dark😂 or maybe I’m just broken? Who knows. But what I do know is, is that Azreth is a giant teddy bear and I’m convinced that this man has a freak side that we did not get to see in the book.
This was a fairly quick and simple read. The world building wasn’t too complicated to understand as most books like this are. This is definitely on the simpler side of this kind of romantasy. This was definitely funny at times and it did have dark themes to it as well. But overall I really did like this book. I definitely have to read the Novella because I know my man Az was completely befuddled with Raiya😂 I know he was thinking “She is either a freak to want to be with me or I really am that hot.”

This book did something to me that I haven’t been able to do in a long time, like four years ago. I was able to read third person pov with no problem, lol I know that was so dramatic, but it’s TRUE. I have such a hard time reading it, besides the Harry Potter books I read in 2021, but since then I can only consume it, if I listen to it as an audiobook, like I did with the throne of glass series and the bridge kingdom and the traitor queen. But for this book, it was so freaking easy, like I ate it up as if it was in first person. I know it’s not a remarkable revelation for everyone else, but it is to me.
Onto the review, I really enjoyed the plot. Like miss girl decides to get back at her abusive and piece of shit husband by messing with his evil plan of binding a demon to himself to control by releasing the demon. Yup, loved that. Especially when her and the demon made an alliance, a spicy alliance 🤭. I also liked how even though they had a spicy alliance, it was still a slow burn because they didn’t acknowledge, understand or speak about their true feelings until later. I loved how she taught him things about the mortal realm, like about art, honor, and love. And I loved how she was always there for him, never feared him, and just cared for him since that was all he ever wanted.

This book grew on me as I read it. I wasn’t as into it as I’d wanted to be at first. I ended up really loving the connection between our two MCs and loved the growth in humanity. It was definitely an adventure for our characters and they met so many interesting “friends” along the way. I loved the brother and sister night elf duo. All in all it was a good story that kept me engaged throughout and I wanted more.

Demon Bound is a stand alone fantasy romance, and my first with a monster romance and I loved it!
It was so hard to put down and Ninas writing was flawless and flowed perfectly from page to page.
I quickly became invested in the MC's Azreth and Raiya and loved how their relationship developed throughout the book. I loved all the side characters too who are all different types of fantasy characters, and I like to read more about them.
The magic system in the book is unique and uses runes which Raiya crafts into objects and weapons but she doesn't have the magic to activate. We also see magic used in the spicy parts of the story which were very hot and enjoyable.
A great read for fans of fantasy and romance genres and I would love to read more from Nina in the future.

This was fine? It was a bit slow and Azreth came across less hot and more awkward 😅. I didn't feel really invested and the stakes just didn't feel high. I am interested in reading Hell Bent as it's through Azreth's eyes and I feel getting a better perspective on him will help my feelings.

4 ⭐️ CUTE
I’m not sure if labeling a story about a Demon on the run, joining forces with a human woman, as cute is the right thing to do but here we are. I rather enjoyed it tbh and will happily read the next book when it comes out - which is the same story but from Azreth’s POV.

Best way to get out of an abusive relationship? Easy, help the demon your husband just summoned escape and run away with him. Fun, relatively short read. My only complaint was how flat the characters felt at times. In this book we only get the FMC Raiya's POV but I feel like the biggest character development is done by the MMC Azreth and we are missing his inner monologue and thoughts.

This was a spicy and surprisingly cute read with a decent fantasy plot to back it up. Azreth and Raiya start off adorably awkward like, spicy creeper vibes with a dash of mutual confusion. He's all brooding demon energy with the whole "has to feed" thing while she's got that unsure of herself but kinda wants to be super strong willed vibe that makes their early interactions both funny and filled with tension.
Their chemistry builds in a way that feels natural, even as they fumble through their feelings or in Azreth's case, trying to come to terms with his feelings being very unapproved in the Hells.
The world building isn't complex or overwhelming, but it helps keep things moving along quickly. Jai and Madira were these super cute siblings that brought a good balance to the story as well.
It gives a bit of Duskwalker Brides vibes at times, but it stands on its own and I'm looking forward to the next book!

ATTENTION LOVERS OF DUSKWALKER BRIDES/ORPHEUS AND MONSTER ROMANCES: READ THIS BOOK. LIKE NOW!
Okay so I know that was a bit dramatic but I stand by it 🤪 I received this ARC from the author for my genuine (and that’s what this is) review! This is my first Nina K Westra book and I’m so glad I got into her writing! She truly captivated me right away and was able to hold my interest for the whole ride, which for some reason has been hard for me lately. I absolutely LOVE that you’re thrown into the story immediately and don’t have to read 100 pages of world building alone. This is a bit of a cozy ✨fantasy✨ (to me at least) with some spice🌶️ and action 🗡️. This is a sweet, possessive, touch her and 💀, unlikely lovers, monster romance and I’m here for all of it! Solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Bit of the story for context (no spoilers):
There’s Raiya, who was treated like absolute dog 💩 by so many people around her, especially her husband (TW spousal mental and physical abuse). And there’s Azreth, a giant blue horned demon that was summoned by Raiya’s asshole of a husband, in means to bind said demon to himself (for power, ego, status, all the a-hole BS). As I mentioned Raiyas husband, who does not deserve to be named, was an asshole and decided (cuz he was mad 😡🙄) to throw his wife into the magical cage to let this newly summoned demon feed off of her. I guess you could call this a forced meet cute 🤭 The demon feeds off of emotion, fear, anger and copulation (🌶️🌶️). This was Raiyas last straw with her 🐩 of a husband, so she sets a plan to both free herself and take revenge. Except she needs the demons help to do so 😬
As stated there is some spice but I didn’t feel overwhelmed by it. I enjoy all levels of spice but prefer it to not be thrown around constantly with no plot. I think the spice was balanced well with the romance and plot of the story.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I am struggling with this one. I feel like there should be a huge TW for the fact that though the MMC has the body of an adult, he was only “created” 10 years ago. So…I couldn’t get it out of my head that I’d been reading about basically a 10 year old the whole time.
That combined with the fact that most of the book is just 🌶️ (that’s pretty much the plot) makes it feel very icky. I could be wrong but I also feel like it was NOT advertised to be a purely smut book (no judgment if it’s your thing but I was expecting more of a story) and so the lack of plot was incredibly disappointing. I hate leaving a review like this, but the ick factor of a technically only 10-yo MMC just was too much for me.

I wasn't invested in a Demon MMC who reminded me of a stumbling child in the human world. Nothing wrong with that, but something was missing for my enjoyment. He could be clueless, but he could still be some sort of nasty, right?
Wrong. Despite being a demon, I wasn't intrigued by Azreth - unfortunately. I guess I'm too used to the typical hot, ruthless and sadistically cruel villains.
11 chapters in, there was still plenty of awkwardness between the MCs - warranted - but it felt too stilted and stiff. Heroine was also frigid. Perhaps I would have found the book to be average had I finished, but I'm a little pressed for time, so this one didn't quite meet my personal expectations.

Perhaps I would have found the book to be average had I finished, but I'm a little pressed for time, so this one didn't quite meet my personal expectations.

Raiya, a woman trapped in an unhappy marriage with a cruel husband, seizes an unexpected opportunity to change her fate after her husband summons a demon and decides to change her fate.
Raiya and Azreth are both great characters that are richly developed. They both have really compelling arcs and satisfying growth - something that a lot of standalones struggle with. Az's character arc, in particular, is handled with finesse, as he transitions from a being of pure instinct - due to his past - to someone capable of genuine affection and loyalty. And he loves animals, omg. This growth is mirrored by Raiya, who finds her strength and sense of self-worth. The chemistry between Raiya and Azreth is amazing, and their evolving relationship is the true highlight of the book. What starts as a purely transactional arrangement slowly transforms into something much deeper and more complex, providing a satisfying blend of sensuality and emotional growth. The spice was unique and it hit just right. These moments are not just about spice but they are deeply entwined with the characters' journeys.
The pacing of Demon Bound is well-managed. The story flows smoothly, with enough twists and turns to maintain suspense and excitement. This is such a fun read and I really enjoyed it. Thanks to the author for the copy. This review is based on a complimentary pre-released copy and it is voluntary.

We meet the FMC Rayia, who has been in a horrible, lonely marriage. Her husband has just imprisoned a demon from the hells. Rayia uses this opportunity to use her rune magic, and hopes to break the bond for the demon. With the hopes that he will save and protect her. One thing leads to another and Rayia and the a demon have developed feelings for each other.
I enjoyed the forced proximity, enemies to lovers and the magic and spice. I feel in love with the female main character and just wanted her to get free from her toxic husband.

I really liked both Raiya and Azreth. Raiya is equally fierce and intelligent, both traits that play a big part in her role throughout the story. She is used to being underestimated and belittled by her husband, and not only do we see this continue to be the case throughout the story but we also see how this continually falls in Raiya’s favour.
Azreth is our demon love interest with a tragic backstory. I found Azreth to be a lot more awkward throughout the book as opposed to how non-human love interests are usually written, but I actually quite enjoyed this because it made a lot more sense. He’s a demon from another realm! To side note, this made me excited to get onto book 1.5, Hell Sent, which I believe is essentially Demon Bound but in Azreth’s perspective.
I really enjoyed the plot of Demon Bound. After a shocking series of events that see her escape the castle that she had essentially been trapped in by her evil husband with a demon in tow, we have an epic quest of sorts to free said demon of the bindings keeping him connected to said evil husband. There is plenty of action I just love a good adventure in a story, especially one well written and with plenty of action where needed too!
Of course, I have to mention Azreth and the animals???? I want a novella solely with Azreth interacting and caring for the animals, and I need it yesterday 😭

Thank you to The Nerd Fam for the gifted eARC. I enjoyed this book and the relationship and world building! This book immediately jumped into action and spice quickly followed 🔥
The author does a wonderful job of making us fall in love with a monster and hate the “gentleman”. The other friendships made along the way seem to be just as important as the MCs. Magic and runes are used throughout the book and it ties our main characters together even more, just perfect! I cannot wait to read the next book!

Arc is in and I'm interested to see where this ride goes. The premise is premising and the spice was spicing. Sign me up for book two anyways.
As we know already, a love a story with sx as a power play and a bit of hells bells is typically right where I'm happiest so I was thrilled to soak in relationship here. Throw in a few compare contrasts with consent and bodily autonomy and I'm sold.

I was so consumed by the story that it felt so much shorter than it actually was, leaving me wanting more! I'm so glad this is just the beginning of a new series. It contained so many tropes I find fun when put together - enemies to lovers, forced proximity, protector/bodyguard - and there's even some nurse back to health scenes that made me a little giddy. Combine that with the hero being a 7-foot tall demon who has never known mutual pleasure with another being, and there it is - a novel I can binge read in a single day. Which is exactly what I did.
Raiya's husband is an abuser and a tyrant, making her regret ever marrying him. So if DV is a trigger for you, step away and assess whether or not you can handle it. He hits her, there is mention of unpleasant intercourse, and he throws her to the demon as a sacrifice and punishment. Thankfully, our demon Azreth is only interested in feeding off her fear, not her body. But when she sets him free, she makes a bargain that means he can feed off her whenever he needs to, including pleasure if need be. Azreth is naturally very wary of Raiya at first, not having had pleasant experiences with humans thus far. Raiya just needs to get away from her husband and sees Azreth as her ticket to doing so. They are unlikely bedfellows, even when they start to warm to each other, as what kind of relationship can a demon and human truly have in the world? I loved how Azreth softened towards Raiya over time, and she let him closer to her the most attracted she felt towards him. Azreth definitely became attached faster, with his protective instincts flaring to life early and often. The intimacy scenes were particularly...steamy. Did I mention Azreth can manifest additional hands? As many as needed...mhmmm. Whatever you're picturing, yes. And it makes for a whole lot of pleasure and interesting moments between the two of them. It actually became really cute later on when he used those hands to be near to Raiya even when far away, so he could hold her hand, for example.
Definitely a unique demon romance and a series I look forward to following! Eager to see what is in store for us next.

I've really enjoyed the writing style in this book. The beginning sets the stage quickly and there's world building, but not in an overwhelming way.
Raiya marries Nirlan, Lord of Frosthaven. He's charming and says all the right things.
Unfortunately, he's not the man he seems to be, and he summons a GD demon.
He proves to be obsessed with creatures from hëll and dark magic, and as icing on the hëll cake, he's also an äbusive ahole.
Raiya takes her chance in the demon, freeing him and herself from the clutches of Nirlan and running away.
What they didn't count on was an incomplete binding ritual between Nirlan and the demon, and now they're being chased across the country.
This book was fun and spicy. It truly was a demon romance and it included a nice serving of adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

This was such a demon romance story! You really get to bond with Azreth and how he tries to figure out his feelings when it comes to love and trust.
The first chapter really does pull you in as well, straight into knowing the a-hole husband treats Raiya badly and is slowly getting extremely power hungry.
I also loved the night elf siblings! I have a slight feeling we are yet to hear more about their stories.
Spoiler - Absolutely loved Raiya's revenge moment, I'm so glad she became strong enough to be able to do it :))

A little slow going, and a little anticlimactic, but I enjoyed the relationship development between Azreth and Raiya.
I think mostly why I found it a little slow is that I much prefer dual POV. I get that she’s putting out a companion book from Azreth’s POV but I’m just not interested in reading the same story twice. 🤷🏻♀️

What a surprising story. I'm glad I decided to read it.

The world-building was interesting. I liked all the religions in the book and the way devotees acted in order to honor their deities.
The magic system was interesting and complex, but it made sense. I enjoyed it.
Raiya was intelligent and practical.
Azreth was such a stoic cinammonroll. This guy's more complex than I first thought.
Their relationship was interesting, and I loved how Azreth's concept of marriage and love differed from what we consider typical.
They played twister a couple of times towards the beginning because they had to. At times, it felt more like dubcon, so BEWARE of that. I mean, it's a book about demons, I'm not expecting flowers and candles.
Romance was progressive, so I considered it more of a "slow burn."
The story reminded me a little when I used to play Baldur's Gate. A dungeons and dragons based game.
There are other things. Small details or beliefs from 'hell', but I won't go into detail because I think it should be read instead.
There's some repetitiveness, and the story dragged a little, but everything else kept me immersed in the story.
Will definitely read the sequel. The world itself has a lot of potential.
