Love and Other Champagne Problems

Rate this book
She meets the only man who's ever been able to make her melt...but it's not her prince charming.

As the ice queen heiress to a multi-million-dollar luxury hotel chain, Margot always knew her parents would choose who she was to marry—whichever candidate had the deepest pockets and the most business assets. So when the time comes to either enter an engagement with a man she’s never met or lose her sparkling fortune, Margot knows there is only one answer.

To keep her impulsivity in check, and to avoid ruining the business deal of a lifetime, Margot’s parents enlist Sumner Pennington, a new hire at the hotel, to play her secretary and to keep the leash on her tight.

Sumner, part-time cater-waiter and now apparent part-time babysitter, is a breath of fresh air from the elegant and cutthroat world around Margot. Optimistic, cheery, warm-hearted—everything she isn’t. But as the two grow closer, and Margot finds herself falling for his cinnamon roll exterior, it becomes clear that there’s more to Sumner than meets the eye—and she begins to wonder if she even knows him at all.

With her first meeting with her fiancé drawing nearer, and her parents’ grip on her becoming tighter, Margot’s faced with the realization that romance isn’t always a guarantee for someone in her position, and that falling in love may be just another champagne problem.

When I say I want a no spice, swoony New Adult romance novel, this is what I mean. It was like listening to a Taylor Swift song, and I mean that as a sincere compliment.

I have read and loved many of Sarah Sutton’s books but listen to me when I tell you THIS IS THE BEST ONE YET!

Definitely one of my favorite books I’ve ever read!!! I read through this book SO fast because once I started I just could not put it down!
Each and every character had depth and were so well written whether that meant you would hate them or love them. Not to mention the amazing FMC; she was tough and sassy and I just loved her especially for her love of fashion as a fashion girly too.
And then don’t get me started on the romance! It was so beautifully executed, not feeling rushed, with delicious banter (that definitely had me kicking my feet more than once).
The plot twists were excellent and kept me flipping the pages. Each time I thought I had it figured out something new popped up! Even though it was an easy read, which was perfect for getting out of a reading slump, Sutton still covered many heavy topics that brought me to tears on more than one occasion which to me marks the sign of a great read.
Overall I’d give this 6⭐️/5 if I could! I definitely recommend!!

This is my seventh Sarah Sutton book and this is my favorite story that she’s written. In her New Adult debut she’s elevated her writing to a whole new level. This story includes the strong FMC, Margot Massey as she’s preparing for her arranged marriage to Aaron Astor. But was she doesn’t expect is the secretary that her parents hired to watch over her to melt her stone-cold heart.
The entire time that I was reading this book I was expecting one thing to happen just for it to be revealed something completely different and unexpected. And the way that Sarah is able to write likable and memorable characters is so impressive. I was able to sit down and read this book in a matter of hours despite being her longest book thus far.
I cannot sing enough praise for Sarah Sutton’s New Adult debut and I cannot wait to read the next book that she writes! This book was a five out of five stars!
Thank you Sarah for the early copy! 🤭

dnf’d at 6%— sarah’s books are hit or miss for me. i went into this really hoping to love it, i mean, it’s sarah’s NA debut, but unfortunately it ended up being my first dnf of hers 😭😭

the writing style wasn’t my fav thing right off the bat—i don’t know how to explain it other than the paragraphs felt stuffy. the flow wasn’t flowing if that makes sense. i’m aware it might be the character’s voice but i still think it could’ve done with an extra round of edits to smooth it out.

now...to the main reason why i dnf’d this: the so-called meet-cute wasn’t cute AT ALL. consent is important—and kissing someone when they tell you not to do it, is not cute. and when you add into the equation the power imbalance, in which the love interest is a simple waiter while the main character is a very wealthy girl with power to ruin his life if he doesn’t comply, it turns downright icky.

i’m usually a bit more benevolent with non-consensual kissing scenes, and don’t dnf on the spot, but this is the SECOND TIME sarah sutton pulls a stunt like this. this past july i read can’t catch my breath and there was a *not on page* non-consensual kiss with vesta at a NYE party, and it was never addressed in the book how problematic that was. it just tells me it’s something sarah doesn’t view as wrong.

i still have another complain, and it’s about how far-fetched the main plot is. so, you are telling me the main character’s parents expect her to marry a guy she never met, and to keep the bratty main character out of trouble the parents hire a personal assistant—a very attractive male personal assistant that happens to be in the same age range as the main character???? i’m sorry what?? this kind of thing only happens in romance books bc lets be honest: if this was real life the assistant would be a middle-aged woman with a bob and PR degree under her belt.

i gaslighted myself into believing the assistant and the guy she was supposed to marry were the same person. i mean, it would explain why her parents made such a weird choice—plus, it would be cute if he was doing it so she would fall for his personality instead of his fortune. but no. i skipped ahead hoping the spoiler would make me want to keep reading, and turns out the guys are not the same person 💀💀

i genuinely hope there’s some secret reason on why the parents chose the love interest as the assistant bc otherwise it’s bizarre......

I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

I've read almost all of Sarah's books and she is a very talented writer. Her books are well-paced and full of cute, popular tropes. I'm a huge huge fan of her Most-Likely-To series (probably my favourite series of hers).

This book is her first in the New Adult genre. I tend to prefer New Adult books because I enjoy the older age group and more complex themes associated with them. However, I think this book reads like a YA book only with a MC that aged out to NA. I think it could've been a lot stronger with some exploration of more complex themes. There is the whole issue about parental love, or lack thereof, and how it impacts self esteem and personality - this was such a huge part of Margot's character but the MC didn't have moments of self reflection that could've been impactful and resonate with a moment of moving into adulthood and recognizing those types of connections. Instead, she just acts like an immature teen

Speaking about Margot, let's jump into it..
The MC To me, Margot lacked so much depth that I have come to associate with Sutton's characters. Margot was mean spirited for no reason. Yes, she had mean parents but she seemed to fall into the stereotype of Mean Rich Girl. Maybe if I had seen her try to fit in with other rich kids at the country club, only to be rebuffed and ridiculed, or if there was some childhood event that made her adopt this as a self defense mechanism, I would have believed it more. I understand the push people away before they can hurt you, but is this all based on the fact her parents were mean? Is it based on the fact that she doesn't wear dressed? Because it seems that everyone is nasty to Margot because she is also a nasty person. I guess I would've liked a bit more of a character exploration and some more depth to her. I didn't really get a sense of her passions besides fashion and she didn't really do anything besides talk about avocado toast. I imagine that rich people typically go to charities and networking events (and I think a couple were mentioned), but the majority of the book is spent with the Margot and Sumner hanging out without a sense of purpose. I think it would've been nice to have some more structure there. What I liked about her YA books was that the events were structured around school and events. Those things made the world more real and provided depth. I was missing those things here. I needed a reason to like her and care about her. I think Nancy was meant to be that, but it wasn't enough. I almost wish she had some passion that she was working on during the novel like starting a fashion charity or anything to add some more depth to her character.

The love story Sutton is great at writing swoon-worthy romance. Sumner is a sweet guy whose sunshine begins to melt the heart of self-proclaimed ice queen Margot. I liked their scenes together and I like how her trust in him unfolded with time. I do think it odd that Margot didn't seem to want to know anything about him, but perhaps that's to underscore the selfish/self-involved part of her personality. Overall I think the love story was cute and very on brand with Sutton's other works. I liked how it was a bit friendship to lovers (even though it was forced friendship since he worked for her).

I thought I had guessed the twist and I was happy to find out I didn't.

Overall, this was a fun, quick read. I wish it was told in dual POV though.

“Falling in love, contrary to what everyone had tried to tell me, wasn’t a fairytale. It wasn’t nonsense. It wasn’t a problem. It truly was just champagne.”

————

This is her first new adult book and this is what she was made for. Oh my goodness, Love and Other Champagne Problems was raw, gritty, and drew out so much emotion from the characters that you were emotionally spent by the last page (in the best way possible). And the plot twist was AN ACTUAL PLOT TWIST YOU DIDNT SEE COMING!

I loved how Sutton toyed with the reader, always keeping me guessing, and the ending was so satisfying that it should be in a masterclass for HEAs. We need more clean yet tension filled new adult romances like this. Margot, the FMC, AND Sumner, the MMC, both had to grow up in this book and their growth was perfectly paced!

This is DEFINITELY a book you need to check out.

Sarah Sutton Does not Disappoint

This was such a cute book! I love all of Sarah's writings, though. The book was easy to get into without being too fast-paced. I loved the chemistry between the main characters. It was lighthearted but also touched on some serious topics as well (grief, superficiality of the money and power hungry). I'd read it all over again and can't wait to see what she comes out with next!

I also love that her books are clean reads - nothing beyond passionate kissing. I am particular with what I read and don't like lots of foul language. There were a few swear words but it was the exception not the rule and was used for effect rather than just common language.

I love her YA books but enjoyed this new adult book as well. Can't wait to read what she writes next!

Reader’s Notes:

– this is told from Margot’s point of view

– Margot’s best friend – Destelle – has her own story that occurs during their high school years (Two Kinds of Us) & we meet Margot in it, but we don’t need to read it to enjoy this one

– there are about 8 curse words (only 2 terms, but about 8 uses total)

– it is mentioned that Margot’s parents are distant & only care about what she could gain them

– Margot grew up in a society where the adults demean each other to their faces & behind their backs, but still pretend to like one another when it could benefit them

– there is a scene where a parent is drunker than normal & purposely throws a glass to the ground by their (adult) child and shatters it

Review:

I haven’t gotten to Two Kinds of Us yet, but I’m even more intrigued & want to start reading it sooner because of this book! I loved getting to know Margot & how she was formed by the society she grew up around. I loved seeing just how deeply everything affected who she became and that Sumner wanted Margot to see the good in herself despite what she was made into. I loved that Sumner was in awe of the person Margot was and wanted her to cultivate who she wanted to be over the person her parents tried to mold her into. I also really enjoyed the dynamic between these two characters outside of their growing relationship. It was fun to see them toe the line between Sumner keeping Margot in check for her parents & the two of them becoming genuine friends.

Summary:

Margot knew that as the heiress to a multi-million-dollar luxury hotel chain, she’d be her parents’ pawn when it came to finally finding someone to spend her life with. Whoever would be able to expand their empire with their connections and money would be the most likely candidate to win her hand. And that’s exactly what happened. Though, based on the way her mother tells it, the guy that will likely propose to Margot, also fell in love with her at first sight. Not that Margot’s actually met the guy yet, nor does she even know what he looks like.

But with such a perfect match close to being a done deal, Margot’s parents aren’t willing to take any chances of it falling through. Which is how Margot ended up with a personal secretary that will be with her everywhere and keep her impulsive nature in check. Though with Sumner’s happy go lucky personality, Margot wonders if he could truly be able to do her parents’ bidding.

What Margot didn’t expect was to begin falling for Sumner during their forced time together. Had she never gotten to know him, she would have definitely gone through with the business related engagement & marriage her parents hoped for. But now, Margot isn’t sure which route will be the option she’ll decide to choose…

Oh my goodness! This book was soo good. I loved reading Sutton’s debut NA novel because while the characters were slightly older, the romance was still closed door.
Margot was such an interesting character. I loved how Sutton showed the different parts of her personality. She played the part of the Ice Queen well, but she also was struggling in her life. All of her life had been planned out for her, but with Sumner in her life, she was starting to want something better. Since the book was entirely from her POV, I feel like you got to know her really well. It was nice because she had a lot of conflicting emotions, so you got to see what was really going on inside of her. While she’s a complicated heroine, I was totally rooting for her HEA.
Sumner was such an adorable cinnamon roll! He really cared for Margot, and he was baffled by the world of the rich. I loved how he balanced out some of her harshness while still loving her wholeheartedly. He was also learning how to take risks himself.
There are definitely some twists in this book! I was on the edge of my seat as I tried to figure out what was going to happen. While this book is still a closed door romance with no spice, Margot’s parents are emotionally and verbally manipulative. Additionally, they essentially ignore their daughter and physically intimidate her. Margot has to learn how to overcome all of this and figure out what she wants. Luckily, she has Sumner on her side and some other fun side characters. We get a couple of camoes too which is fun if you’ve read Sutton’s YA novels.
I would definitely recommend this NA romance! It still has no spice, and Margot is such an interesting FMC.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

I found Sarah Sutton's first new adult book has more serious events but found it overall enjoyable if you have a more dry sense of humor. Throughout the story we navigate the rich and toxic world Margot grew up in. At first I struggled to connect with Margot but I grew to understand her and loved that Sumner was there to help her recognize her value. I love that Margot enjoys fashion and her level of attention to clothing was an interesting viewpoint.

I was able to easily immerse into the story. Although, I honestly kept getting all the country club ladies confused but they weren't really super important. lol I was surprised there weren't more people Margot's age at the club. Also, didn't see any security or paparazzi at all when I'd imagine all these wealthy people would need the security. I let this go since we spend most of the time at the hotel or country club.

I really loved that Sumner was able to see Margot's true self. His eagerness was refreshing and adorable but I really loved that he would help defend her when necessary. Nancy was quite a character. At first I wondered what her purpose would be and I kind of got a kick out of her antics and I loved her at the end.

Throughout the story there were some swoon-worthy moments and moments where I teared up. I didn't fully expect the ending, but I did think it might happen, and I'm happy and satisfied with how it ended. I probably wouldn't have done what Margot did but I completely understand her choice. Overall, I think it's a nice stimulating start for the author's first new adult book and always look forward to Sarah's newest book.

SUMMARY
Nothing screams match made in heaven more than never seeing your affianced and your parents’ threats of destitution.

So when famed wild child Margot Massey is set to marry the all-elusive Aaron Astor, her parents enlist Sumner Pennington to keep her out of trouble. With the two spending so much time together, breaking down each other’s defences, it’s not surprising when the lines begin to blur.

Closed door: Beyond the occasional makeout/kiss scenes, this book does not contain mature scenes!

Genre: romance
Tropes: rich girl/secretary, arranged marriage, champagne problems

REVIEW
“I’m not a little kid who needs to be comforted because they’re disappointed. Life is full of disappointments. I don’t need someone to pat my back and tell me it’ll be okay.” “Just because you don’t need it doesn’t mean you can’t have it. It doesn’t mean it’s wrong to want it.”

First and foremost, I am glad that I read this AFTER the second book because had I read this first, I would have hated Aaron vehemently.

Secondly, this book was cute - Sumner was adorable; I did quite like him. He had puppy dog energy about him (but they mention that a good few times in the book). Margot was at times a bit irritating but that is in keeping with her ‘bratty’ persona.

I will say, it’s not the best written romance book in the world and I struggled to get into it at first but it was still fairly cute.

OVERALL
It was a sweet book in the end. I wouldn’t strongly recommend it but I wouldn’t discourage reading it either.

🍾 Love And Other Champagne Problems by Sarah Sutton

As the ice queen heiress to a multi-million-dollar luxury hotel chain, Margot always knew her parents would choose who she was to marry. To keep her impulsivity in check, and to avoid ruining the business deal of a lifetime, Margot’s parents enlist Sumner Pennington, a new hire at the hotel, to play her secretary and to keep the leash on her tight. As the two grow closer, and Margot finds herself falling for his cinnamon roll exterior, it becomes clear that there’s more to Sumner than meets the eye.

I loved Sumner from the beginning when it was revealed that he'd be her shadow for the foreseeable. He seemed to thaw her icy insides the more they spent time together.

When it became difficult for Margot to meet Aaron Astor, her betrothed, the question arose that maybe Sumner was actually Aaron. The mystery of that was intriguing as I tried to catch him in the act right alongside Margot.

Things came to a head towards the end. Margot went through a heartbreaking loss but Sumner was right there with her. Her parents couldn't care less about her wellbeing except for what they could get out of her but Sumner never wavered in his support of her.

I loved the twists towards the end (didn't see some of them coming 😂). This was such an enjoyable read!

I want to preface this review by saying I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Big thank you to Sarah! 🫶
This book was DIVINE. I devoured the majority of it in one sitting and stayed up much later than I should’ve, and I have no regrets. The plot was amazing. It was fast-paced and easy to read. It’s so hard to put down. I kept wanting to know more about the characters and what was going to happen. I enjoyed all the plot twists and learning about the characters. Sarah writes deep and relatable backstories for all her characters, and Margot is no different. She is the most mature character with the heaviest backstory. I enjoyed seeing Margot develop and find herself throughout the story. She was unlikeable, grumpy, and bitter, but we see her open up more, and we see her softer side, especially with Sumner. I enjoyed seeing her work through her experiences with her parents and her insecurities. I loved her fierceness and thoughtfulness about everything. Her relationship with Nancy was so sweet. I did shed some tears. The two’s attitudes were hilarious. Plus, I think Margot is just a really cool character. Her suits were such a fun touch. Sumner was the cutest cinnamon roll ever. He was so swoon-worthy!! I loved Sumner and how caring he was toward Margot. He complemented her and made her see herself for who she really was without her parents or anyone else. He’s special and definitely one of my favorite MMCs Sarah has written. His love confession was the sweetest thing I’ve ever read. Sumner is too good for this world. I don’t cry too often, but I cried reading this book. It was heartfelt and hopeful while still being realistic. I thoroughly enjoyed this NA by Sarah, and I’m excited to read her future books.
This is an NA book, but it is closed-door. There was a bit of swearing and drinking. Characters have affairs, and there is on-page physical abuse. There are a few brief mentions of intimacy. Characters literally sleep together, and there are a few passionate kisses and touches.

Allow me to gush for a few sentences. I have been a Sutton fan since I read "If the Broom Fits," a few years ago. Her books are always sweet without giving you a cavity (I had to don't hate me). When I heard she was releasing her first New Adult Sweet Romance, I was hyped. And ma'am did not disappoint!

Margot is not like many female leads I read in romance novels and that was incredibly refreshing. She is flawed, but she owns it. She definitely reminded me of a toned-down version of Fallon from Dynasty. And her wardrobe read like a dream. Sumner had me scratching my head - I could not figure out his motives, but I also knew he had Margot's best interests in mind. While I was confused at one detail in the ending (fate of someone's home), the conclusion came together expertly. Even the side characters were entertaining to get to know! You had the selfish, rich parents, villains and their clueless minions, and, of course, the sassy voice above them all.

There is no spice, but you still fall in love with this couple. And I really appreciate that their relationship had the foundation to flourish and that they have the opportunity to continue to grow, not just as individuals, but as a couple, as well.

Romance is not my normal genre, but Sarah Sutton novels will always be one of the exceptions.

This book...

THIS BOOK...

Wow. It's rare that I fall in love with a book that I don't already have some sort of preconceived idea that I'll like it. In all honesty and transparency, I came across an add for the second book in this series ( not yet released ) and followed the author and took a look at her books.

The cover for the next book, was cute and pink and well - I'm a sucker for both.

Figured I'd take a look at the first book, as it was in KU.

The premise was interesting enough... Margot Massey, a rebellious yet still dutiful hotel heiress is set to enter an business deal of a marriage with Aaron Astor but finally feels like love is a possibility when she falls for the man hired to keep her on track, Sumner Pennington.

I was like, cool seems interesting enough.

Immediately I found it well written and funny, but not over the top. I was interested and kept reading but somewhere mid-book everything starts to come together but not at all how you thought it would, and then not only are you shocked (in great ways), you can't put it down!

I absolutely adored this story, the main characters and it made me squeal and tear up and it was such a pleasant surprise. Sarah, you've got a fan!

Plot: When Margot return from college to her wealthy hometown, she is reminded why she wanted to leave in the first place. She can’t stand the stuck up attitudes, snarky quips, and two faced people running around in everyone’s business. Her parents aren’t much better. They attempt to marry her off to someone she hasn’t ever met before, all so their business will flourish. After hiring a secretary to follow Margot around, she fines herself actually enjoying his company. What will happen with the soon to be finance? Will she get married? Will she make her parents happy? Will she ever escape the stuck up town?

What I liked: I liked just about everything in this book. The story was written well and easy to follow. I was rooting for Sumner the whole time. I loved how he accepted her and understood what she was going through

What I didn’t like: I didn’t like Margot, honestly. She was such a brat 99% of the time. Sumner brought out the best in her, but everyone else brought out the worst. It was a hard read sometimes, due to her attitude.

Swearing: very minimal uses of minor swear words

Physical intimacy level: closed door, swoony kisses

Star rating: 4 stars

Trope: wealthy, boss/employee (kinda), workplace romance (kinda), arranged marriage, grumpy/sunshine

I’d like to start by thanking Sarah Sutton for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book is Sarah Sutton’s first New Adult book and it doesn’t disappoint!
Firstly I loved the main character, Margot. You may remember her as Destelle’s best friend in Two Kinds Us. This was the crossover I didn’t know I needed.

I was drawn in by the vivid description, the fancy world and all the characters. Margot was bold, sassy, and impulsive. Everything she did and said was so entertaining; I was hooked. Sumner was so cute and sweet and then we can’t forget about Mrs. Nancy, my new spirit animal. I loved her spunky personality and her relationship with Margot. This book definitely lives up to the sunshine/grumpy trope. If you’re into that, you’ll definitely love this book. The plot was engaging and captivating and I liked the twists.

This book was clean which I appreciate because I feel like most new adult books are spicy. There was alcohol, an arranged marriage and kissing but nothing more.

I already preordered the book because I know I’m going to be reading it again in the future.

I just finished reading Love and Other Champagne Problems, and honestly, I cried a lot throughout. I could really relate to Margot's feelings of helplessness and being invisible in her own life. I loved her calculated chaos and her sassiness. I loved Sumner's puppy dog eyes, and his relentless positivity. I love his friendship with Margot, and his determination to fight against the lies her family, and the other people in her life are constantly spewing about her.

I had two options for what I thought the twist would be, and I switched between the two throughout, but I ultimately found the twist so satisfying despite having a rough idea of what I thought it would be. I was also so, so glad that there wasn't a third act break up based on a miscommunication (I hate those!).

Margot was such an internally vulnerable character, even though she was constantly pushing people away before they could hurt her. She has adopted the identity as an Ice Queen even though she hates who she is. It was such a satisfying journey seeing her finally choosing happiness.

Sutton's transition into writing YA has been seamless, and I'm so excited to see where she goes next.

(I received an arc copy of the book)

This was a little different from the usual style she writes in but still has all the swoon factors.

Things I absolutely loved
1) Women in suits. The entire wardrobe of Margot is my dream to have (I'm not that rich but a girl can dream)
2) Grumpy×Sunshine trope where the guy is a ball of literal sunshine and the girl is bossy- i think it might be my favourite
3) loneliness of the protagonist I could relate to on a very personal level
4) Beautiful imagery related to the upper class society and class discrimination explained really well
5) Cute, fluffy, made me cry and healed my trauma kind of romance.
6) Sassy replies from our boss lady Margot. I hope I learn her sarcasm and use it in real life more.
7) no smut, I'm glad because nowadays all romance books are just full of them.

Overall an amazing experience. I'm grateful I was able to read the work, although it did take me longer than I anticipated because I was sick for a while and couldn't gather energy to read. All romance book lovers give this one a try, it's totally worth it. Keep writing Sarah!!!

I've been following Sarah's YouTube channel for a while but never read any of her work before. I don't usually read romance or YA but as I saw this was more NA/adult romance, I thought I'd give it a go on Kindle Unlimited.
It was a great breath of fresh air against the sci-fi/fantasy reads I usually go for. I was immediately hooked into the narrative and loved the story.
Margot was a tricky one to get under the skin of. On one hand, I really felt for her, under the full control of her parents, but on the other, I was frustrated with her for allowing their manipulation and gaslighting to continue.
The interactions between Margot and Sumner were super cute and had me rooting for them all the way through, against all the odds and pressures that Margot was under to marry for money.
I also adored the relationship between Margot and the prickly Nancy. Their relationship ultimately brought tears to my eyes. Old people are so stubborn!
The attention to detail in Sarah's writing, especially around Margot's love of fashion, was a joy to read.
Overall, I really enjoyed this sweet romance and would read more of Sarah's adult fiction.

I honestly tried with this. I wanted to like it because I like Sarah (check out her YouTube channel) and it has such great reviews (almost all arcs…) but unfortunately the book was pretty bad.

I would’ve quit sooner but the mystery of Margot’s betrothal kept me going, but that was all.

The romance was very light and innocent (it’s a clean book after all but I had no idea of the characters’ experiences) and Sumner, while being kind and likeable was very simple and barely there.

I don’t know why he liked Margot. She was a brat, and I very nearly rage quit when she purposely destroyed a one of kind vintage designer dress that was worth a fortune, after going on about how much she loved it. She wasn’t happy with her lifestyle but refused to change it, because going against her parents’ wishes (including marrying someone she’s never met) would mean no more designer clothes. Totally infuriating.

There were also a staggering amount of typos. If I hadn’t seen editing mentioned on YouTube I’d have assumed no editor.

This wasn’t the worst book ever, but I found it slow and boring, and I got frustrated by Margot and the bad editing. Wish I could have my time back.

Love and Other Champagne Problems is the New Adult novel I've been looking for! 💜 It is so cute and made me smile, laugh, and tear up, all while trying to figure out what exactly was going to happen (no spoilers, but let me just say, I thought I had figured everything out and didn't 😅). Margot and Sumner are so adorable together, and I loved seeing how their love story unfolded! 🥹 I can promise that by the end of book you'll love them too 🥰

Every description and detail is so well written that you can easily picture it in your mind, and I think Sarah did a wonderful job with all of the characters and their arcs throughout the book ☺️ LAOCP is a sweet romance with no spice, which I liked since that is normally hard for me to find in New Adult books. I already loved Sarah Sutton's YA books, and I'm so happy she branched out into the NA genre - I cannot wait to read any NA books she comes out with in the future! ☺️ If you're looking for a new sweet & cute book to read, Love and Other Champagne Problems is perfect for you! 💜✨

I would like a Sumner Pennington please.

Sarah really nailed this one. I wish I had the ability to reread this book again for the first time because it was so lovely. I found myself reading some lines out loud to myself. It was seriously that good.

-I felt so much for Margot. Everyone around her is just so awful. She doesn't always make the greatest choices, but knowing what she had going on around made me cheer on the chaos she unleashed upon them.
-Sumner. He was so full of sunshine. I feel like there aren't as many men like him as there should be. I loved how he never wanted to change Margot, only to understand her and make her happy. I love him.
-This book surprised me in the best ways. I felt like I knew where it was going for sure, but I love way everything played out. It felt really satisfying to see Margot and Sumner get to their happily ever after.

I hope Sarah writes more in New Adult. This was a smashing success!

Love And Other Champagne Problems is Sarah Sutton’s new sweet New Adult romance.
It tells the story of Margot, a heiress who’s parents own a luxury hotel.
Since Margot has a tendency to get in trouble, her parents decide that hiring her a secretary could be a good idea and keep her in line.

The thing is that Margot is supposed to get engaged to a man she’s never met. Someone her parents chose for her.

When the new secretary turns out to be a very handsome twenty five year old guy named Somner, things take an unexpected turn.

Margot isn’t supposed to be attracted by her newest assistant and yet, sparks fly and they both can’t resist their chemistry.

Tropes :
Arrange marriage
Millionaires
Work place
Strangers to lovers
New adult
Sweet romance

Even though I loved the characters I felt like the story was dragging a bit and there were repetitive parts/dialogue. I can’t wait to read more books by Sarah Sutton because I’m a big fan of her Most Likely To series.

⭐️⭐️⭐️
GENRE
- NA contemporary romance

CONTENT
-🤬: infrequent language (5 a, 3 b, 1 d, 3 h)
-❤️: make outs
-⚠️: toxic parents (grabbing daughter’s chin forcefully, being manipulative, throwing a champagne glass at the ground near daughter, roughly grabbing shoulders)

I absolutely love the cover of this book and was hopefully I’d also love the inside. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

I liked the storyline, but it felt longer than necessary. I would have rated it higher, but there were so many errors! This needed a proofread SO badly. There were frequent instances when a word was missing from a sentence. There were three times that a sentence didn’t start with a capital letter (which Google Docs or Microsoft Word should’ve caught), and the spelling of the last name Du Pont(e) was inconsistent. Sometimes it had the “e” and sometimes it didn’t.

I’m still curious about the next book, but I really hope it had a proofread done.

One of my favourite books by Sarah Sutton, and I've nearly read all of them. I think. I've loved all the YA Romances I've read so far so was so excited to read her NA Romance debut.

I got through this so quickly and really didn't want it to end. I loved the reverse grumpy x sunshine trope in this.

Both the FMC and the MMC were so likeable and I loved the romance between the two of them. The romance didn't feel rushed but felt sweet - they went from strangers to friends to lovers.

There were also some amazing plot twists. I was convinced I had it furred out in the first few chapters but I did not. There was always a new thing that kept popping up.

My favourite character had to be Ms Nancy - she was absolutely hilarious and I loved the scenes she was in. I'm glad Margot had someone in her corner after having the most terrible parents ever.

If you know me, you know that I LOVE Sarah's books. This one was no exception! LAOCP is Sarah's debut New Adult Romance (still sweet with no spice!!), and it did not disappoint!

Sumner and Margot kept me entertained and excited to continue reading, and there was never a dull moment with them! Margot was such a different main lead than what Sarah usually writes, but she did an amazing job of really putting us in Margot’s head. I wouldn't usually love a character like Margot, but I was immediately drawn to her and her character growth, and she might just be one of my favorite Sarah Sutton female leads! Sumner was soo fun, and definitely had the golden retriever vibes that Sarah promised!

The tropes and story were so unique, and with the banter between the two of them, I couldn't put LAOCP down! I definitely recommend that you pick up a copy!💜
