An adult vampire love story set in Britain Ex Catholic priest, Beckett, is out for blood. Vampire blood.
History is repeating itself and Beckett enlists the help of Dr Lane Dearing, herself a powerful vampire, in an effort to save the beautiful Katerini from a sadistic and viscious Undead. Their struggle leads them from the mysterious mountains of the Brecon Beacons in Wales to an isolated monastery in rural Greece where they encounter one of the Ancient Ones who has his own reasons for wanting Katerini.
Midnight Wine is a vampire tale of love, revenge and sacrifice. Vampires are real. They exist.
And they are out there...
Praise for Jan McDonald This is, without a doubt, the best Paranormal / Occult book I have read in a long time. This book has mystery, paranormal, occult, and a bit of romance all rolled into one book. The book is well written, easy to read, all parts of the book fit together nicely. The characters are well written, believable, and as far as the story will allow, well detailed. Review from The Crowsmoor Curse
About Jan McDonald Jan lives close to the Welsh borders which have their own mystical quality and provide endless resources in the way of legends and folklore surrounding paranormal experiences. She loves all things paranormal and has read the best: Dennis Wheatley, Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker and all those authors that excel in the creepy or downright scary world of paranormal events. When she embarked on the Mike Travis series (The Crowsmoor Curse, Long Shadows and The Sacred Ark) she realised that the field of paranormal investigation is more than we see on the popular TV programmes. So in order to provide compelling ghost hunting tales but with the greatest accuracy, Jan trained as a Paranormal Investigator and has studied parapsychology.
I’m Jan McDonald, the author of the Mike Travis Paranormal Investigations. I live close to the Welsh borders which have their own mystical quality and provide endless resources in the way of legends and folklore surrounding the paranormal. I love all things paranormal and have loved reading the best, Dennis Wheatley, Stephen King (his early work) Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker, H.P. Lovecraft and all those authors that excel in the creepy or down-right scary.
When I embarked on the Mike Travis series I realised that the field of paranormal investigation is more than we see on the popular TV programmes and above all else I wanted to be accurate and so I trained as a Paranormal Investigator and studied parapsychology. I love researching my books, so this was no chore. I’m also the author of the Father Beckett Vampire Trilogy (Part One: Midnight Wine and Part Two: Lycan ). The research for this series was fun and entailed a journey to Transylvania with The London Vampire group! Going to revisit next year.

I got this one as a freebie and after reading a couple of the reviews on Amazon, though why not? It's a pretty good yarn, with a few nice little twists to keep the reader interested. Beckett is a former priest who lost his faith when his sister Grace was turned into a vampire and he had to kill her. In his subsequent life as a psychiatrist one of his patients Kat reveals that she has been experiencing disturbing dreams and impulses. Beckett, recognising the symptoms calls on Lane, a more experienced psychiatrist at dealing with patients like Kat. Thrown into the mix are Kat's son given up for adoption, a Greek monastery that houses an ancient Saint in a silver shrine and a mysterious vampire in a mask, a few nuns, assorted vampires and mortals and a bit of vampire politics. It's fast paced, has a couple of new slants on vampires and unlike a lot of other vampire stories, the plot is original.
I enjoyed this book, although for myself, more information on the background characters would be nice, still well written and executed. I am on to the next in this series. Mike Travis paranormal by Jan McDonald is also a fun series.
