The Cursed Town . . .

Yvette Townsend-Burton is enjoying life in Keating Hollow with her husband Jacob, her daughters and a successful bookstore. At their regular Thursday children’s book read-a-long, her niece Poppy chooses a book to read that Yvette didn’t recognize titled “The Witch of Redwood Grove” by Maeve Woods. The book is about a spell that backfires because of the witch’s impure heart and curses the town with multiple struggles to overcome until the witch who had cast it let go of her bitterness and learned to love again. Yvette and Poppy read the book to the group. As Yvette afterward closed the bookstore, she counted up her daily sales report and couldn’t believe the results! The number was lower than their worst day ever!

The following day business was unexpectedly slow. And when Jacob drove to the Brewery in town for lunch, the usually full parking lot was empty! Rhys and Hanna told him it had been this way all morning. Jacob called Sheriff Drew Baker, his brother-in-law, to see if there was road work on the highway or an accident holding up traffic since Main Street was a ghost town right now. But there had been no reports. Odd. As Jacob ate his burger, Rhys called for help when a tap started gushing beer everywhere. As Jacob held the tap, another one started gushing and Rhys ran to the back room to shut off the keg. As Rhys returned, ALL of the taps exploded! Jacob had to pick up the kids at school, so he toweled himself sort of dry and left, only to hear sirens behind him as he was pulled over. Apparently he had gone through a new stop sign put up yesterday. Told to get out of the car, the officer handcuffed him based only on his beer smell! He didn’t even administer a breathalyzer test. At least Jacob knew his brother-in-law would straighten this out. Drew asked Noel to pick up the kids so he could hear Jacob’s story.

Yvette told him later that Noel had a wedding party cancel last minute, and she had to call all the vendors to let them know. It was a nightmare. Not only won’t she be paid the balance of the wedding fee, but her inn is empty for the weekend, too. What’s going on with all the bad luck? All the businesses are losing money! Burst pipes, the brewery closing down for a week, the music store robbed, and a custom home under construction collapses … People will be ruined if this continues! Can the Townsend family come together to put an end to this curse on their beloved town? Meeting to discuss the issue, they see an object on the mantel start to glow with magic. When Lincoln reached for it, the object became a book in his hand -- the children’s book from Yvette’s bookstore! Will tracking down the author of the book, who may be the only one able to reverse this curse, save their town? Or is there something more behind this disaster?

I wish I could give this a higher rating because it deserves 1 million stars. The only problem is I wish it was longer. I LOVE Keating Hollow and would love to live there if it was a real town.

I absolutely loved visting with the Keating Hollow characters. It's like coming home when I read one of the characters stories. This time Yvette is our prime character. I would love to work in her bookstore.

The author has a way of pulling you into the book and you don't want it to end. Strong storyline and strong characters. This time the book is about a curse and how it effects the town. I was on the edge of my seat while reading because I didn't want anything happen to the Townsend's or Keating Hollow. Will Yvette and Jacob save the town and Yvette's family? One way to find out is to get the book.

I highly recommend the authors books! I have read the whole series and the novellas. They may be paranormal in nature but there are always life lessons in the stories. HIGHLY recommend but I guess I already said that!

Run don't walk to your nearest bookstore, library or computer and get the Witches of Keating Hollow series and then get the Keating Hollow Happily Ever Afters series. You won't be disappointed. Also check out her other books. Love them all!

Magic, Mystery, and a Must-Read Novella!

Light of the Witch is a delightful new novella in one of my favorite series, The Witches of Keating Hollow. Deanna Chase does what she does best—building heartfelt community, crafting lovable (and flawed) characters, and blending magic with meaning.

This time, the stakes are unexpectedly high—who knew reading a children’s book aloud could trigger chaos in Keating Hollow? As a strange curse takes hold, Yvette and Jacob must uncover the source and protect the town they love. From charming town scenes to eerie countryside twists, the story delivers both warmth and suspense.

Even after the villain is revealed, the tension and heart keep building. Fans of the series will savor this one—and newcomers just might get hooked.

This latest novella has us getting another glimpse into the Townsend sisters’ lives, and where they are now. Yvette is having a book reading party where she reads a book and accidentally cures the town. She, her sisters, and all their family work together to end the curse. I just love getting a glimpse of where all the family is now, and how they all work together as a cohesive unit, having each other’s backs, like all families should be. Fun, entertaining, and well-written, this is sure to please the fans of any of the Townsend sisters. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

This is a fun novella about Yvette Townsend-Burton and her husband Jacob. Everything is going well for them and their friends and family in Keating Hollow - until she accidentally reads a cursed book in her bookstore's storytime and then everything starts to go wring for the extended Townsend family, and Yvette and Jacob must figure out how to break the curse before all magic leaves Keating Hollow for good.

I loved reading more in depth about how Yvette and her family were doing now, as well as that I could easily finish this in one go. It was a wonderful bedtime story for me, and look forward to reading the future Keating Hollow books about this magical family and town.

I absolutely love seeing the Townsend sisters all together again. Yvette and Burke have built a great life but a curse threatens to ruin all of Keating Hollow. Yvette and Burke to the rescue! They set off on an adventure to track down the origin of the curse which involves treacherous roads, dilapidated houses and pink fuzzy handcuffs. Yes I said pink fuzzy handcuffs! There is a happy ending (of course) and all is right in the end. But the story has some great twists and turns and revisiting the golf cart races is always worth a read.

LIGHT OF THE WITCH by Deanna Chase Pub 5/20/25 review 7/3/25
Everyone

Everything is going great for the entire Townsend clan--until it wasn't. Suddenly, not only were all of their business were in trouble, but the entire town was suffering. Why? The sisters tried to figure out if it was a curse and how to undo it. No luck. Next, the entire family got together to solve the problem.

Magic in all forms is used. Will they be able to return the town to its former magical state?

The romance is there from all the happily married couples.

Another wonderful read, the only complaint - too short, but lately that's what I can find time for!

The author has a way of pulling you into the book and you don't want it to end. Great storyline and wonderful characters return. Ever wonder how a curse would effect the town. This time magic is more prominent in the story line, usually only a short appearance, but this time it's the centre of attraction! Want to find out what the effects of more magic are? Pick this up and find out!

As always a great read

I do not give away anything that I've read. What I will tell others who are thinking of reading this book, this series, is if you have not read any of Deanna Chase's book before you are in for a treat. If you have read other series by Deanna Chase then you will really enjoy this one too. It has a great story line lovable characters, and its a can't put down kind of book. I for one can't wait for book 4 in this series, I've already preordered.

I love the chance to go back into the world of Keating Hollow. As always, the world building is fantastic. Deanna Chase is able to keep the continuity with the series even though there have been a lot of previous books in this world. While this is a novella, it is a complete story. You won't be disappointed if you buy this book!!

The Townsend's to the rescue again! I love circling back and reading about my favorite characters. Jealousy and siblings turn what should be an ordinary storybook into something else and it's up to Yvette and Jacob to save the day!

A curse on the town, as well as the Townsends, has Yvette and Jacob racing to undo it. This is a peak of their lives after their HEA. Love these little vignettes, even though they come with bad things happening.
