Vale Reed is doing the best she can.

After a one-night stand gone wrong, she's pregnant and completely on her own. Cam shows and working full-time serving drinks helps stash away money for when she gives birth, but they also put her in the line of sight of a creep who wants her for his own. When he takes things too far, Vale has no choice but to run.

Luckily, she ends up with the one person she really trusts.

Bishop and his packmates, Holt and Mercer, run Assurance Private Security. They're up for the task of keeping the very pregnant omega safe. She's even able to repay their kindness when Mercer needs a fake wife to claim his inheritance.

But Vale’s stalker isn't giving up without a fight, and it turns out he's more connected than any of them could have guessed.

Will they be able to keep Vale safe? Is there really a chance for love to bloom under such dire circumstances? This is part one of a duet and will end on a cliffhanger. You'll find no cheating, no choosing, and a pack of morally gray men who fall first. The focus is on the FMC. Full content info will be listed in the Author's Note.

Single omega, Vale (22), ends up pregnant after a one night stand. She has been struggling to pay rent working as a server in a strip club, and as cam girl in the evenings. She has a really creepy stalker, but isn’t aware of how obsessed he is with her.

She is still doing cam shows while pregnant, but it’s only talked about vaguely, and she is soon whisked off with her hero.

I ended up losing a lot of clients when I got pregnant. Only then, an entirely different clientele tuned in, wanting to watch the pregnant chick get herself off.

Alpha Bishop (30s) and his friends and business partners, Holt and Mercer, run Assurance Private Security.

Bishop did start out watching my live streams, but over the last two years, he became a VIP member. He gets to watch me do random shit in my apartment.

There is a reason Bishop first started watching her shows, but you find that out later.

Omegaverse (no shifting)
Age gap
Alpha/omega dynamics
Tender/fierce alpha behavior
Marriage of convenience
RH, but slowly introduced
Knotting/biting/scenting
Mystery aspect
Pregnancy
Cliffhanger ending

The author did a really wonderful job at setting up this world. It’s not overly confusing, and the politics makes sense. Really enjoyed the dynamics of these four characters and can’t wait to read their HEA!

Not a standalone, but book two already out!

This pulled at my heartstrings, was dramatic when needed and despite including a (kind of) insta-love, I don't think I would have liked the book as much if it wasn't there. In this trope, it just worked. That is a bold statement coming from me, as Insta-love and I aren't friends, and frankly, I usually hate it.

I'm still pretty new to omegaverse books, so maybe fast-burn relationships are the norm in this trope... No idea. I will say it was extremely helpful having the ‘world information’ at the start of the book, I definitely needed some background 🙏👏 Thank you!

——

This book follows Vale, a single soon-to-be mum. She was extremely hard-working, juggling multiple jobs, but ultimately she struggled financially. She had support from work friends and ‘others’, but no family support. I personally love the single mum trope because it produces these powerful and resilient characters, who deserve the story to go in their favour.

I'm not going to give away the plot, but sh1t happens and the FMC ends up with the MMCs. Now the insta-love in question was not a ‘look across the room and fall in love’ situation. Both characters were familiar with each other for a longggggg time prior to physically seeing each other. However, their first meeting was pretty intense and the feelings were everywhere. I did really like this relationship though, as she desperately needed that love and comfort. I don't think it would have made sense for her to wait for it.

The remaining relationships were probably a medium-burn situation, but I equally loved these characters. We had :
✨Bishop - Lovable Giant
✨Holt - Playful Bad Boy
✨Mercer - Stoic (British) Leader

Mercer was British, which was not a character flaw but can sometimes be a character flaw. I hate it when they make the one Brit a massive stereotype, it's nails on a chalkboard for me. However, I think this character was written so well and was obviously upper-class British, but in no way a cliche. The references were very subtle.

Alongside all the care and tenderness that was featured in this book, there was also that added suspense. The ‘stalker’ plotline gave it a kick of drama, but it wasn't overdone. When I initially read the blurb I thought there might be too much plot, but I'm happy to report that all the elements fit really well together.

Now...if you have any preconceived notions (like me) that there is going to be no spice in this book because the FMC is pregnant throughout.… you would be wrong. God how wrong we were. In my defence, I read a pregnancy RH the other day and nothing happened for 2 books. This is definitely not the case in this one 😅

I will say I did guess the plot twist at the end. I feel like a lot of hints were dropped. That doesn't mean I wasn't super excited for the cliffhanger and what was to come after it. It was definitely explosive 💥🤯🧨💣

Excited for book 2!!!!!!!!

I think this may possibly be Jillan’s best work to date. I LOVED it. Not only were all the characters phenomenal, but the plot was absolutely amazing and that cliffhanger BROKE ME. I cant wait for book 2! Thankfully it’s coming soon.

I think Bishop was my fave guy at first, but Mercer quickly became probably one of my all time fave characters out of all of Jillian’s books. Maybe I have a thing for British dudes.. i dunno.. but there was something about how buttoned up he was.. somethign abotu how he was so transactional about some things and was almost SURPRISED at the way he felt for our heroine… it was just so damn sweet and I think i honestly fell in love with the grumpy Brit.

Holt? Holt took me a minute to warm up to, but there was some great character development there and I genuinely am super excited to see where his relationship with Vale goes.

And VALE? Ugh she was phenomenal! Shes a single omega who’s pregnant thanks to a one night stand.. she works her butt off to try and provide for her and her soon-to-be daughter… working as a waitress and on a website called Omega Slick. She met Bishop on that website when he signed up to follow up on a job he does for the security company he works for that Mercer owns. The guys are kinda.. mercenaries..? I suppose that would be the right word. I didnt know right away how I would feel about Vale and Bishop meeting on a cam sight.. i mean who’s to say Bishop wasnt talking to other girls on there? But when I found out that he was only on there as a way to make sure omegas werent being taken advantage of as part of a job, AND THAT HE HADNT HAD SEGGS WITH ANYONE THE ENTIRE TWO YEARS HE WAS TALKING TO VALE?!?!? EVEN THOUGH SHE DID AND GOT PREGNANT?!? Freaking SWOOON. Ugh. Immediately fell for him.

Vale has a stalker so she reached out to Bishop… and Bishop, Mercer and Holt immediately take her in. The rest you’ll have to read on your own but trust me when I say this book was SO GOOD.

Read if you love:
🌸Hurt/Comfort
🌸VERY Pregnant Omega
🌸”Who did this to you?”
🌸Super Overprotective Alphas
🌸Fake engagement/married turns to more.
🌸Touch Starved heroine who needs Alpha pheromones.
🌸British Hero
🌸Golden Retriever/Surfer looking guy who doesnt know how to feel about the heroine at first
🌸Big, buff mercenary who IMMEDIATELY falls for the heroine and professes his love like.. RIGHT NOW.

Spoilers ahead

The h and one of the guys from a connection through the cam site that she works for and he subscribed too. Months with him watching her and they grow close without knowing any personal details about each other. Lonely for an in person connection she gets together with a guy who frequented the club she works at but he disappears. Finding herself pregnant and at the mercy of a stalker she turns to her subscriber for help

I read this a couple days ago and can't remember the MCs names 😭🙄😒
But I enjoyed it for the most part
I was resentful that she'd slept with someone else while feeling a connection with the first Alpha but thankfully there's a plot twist that sorts that out kinda
I was so sick and tired of everything being blamed on their impulses and generally hearing the term my impulses 🙄
I didn't like that they bonded during sex when she begged for the bite. We know the omegas are not lucid enough for that kinda bond in those situations even though she wasn't "quite" in actual heat there were other factors involved
Nothing much to quibble about tbh

* that first Alpha was all the damn things except Why'd he wait to claim her for so damn long! He was interested wayyyyy before the pregnancy

tropes: 𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞, 𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐩, 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫, 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐲, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭/𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫
This book is MFMM.

Not Ready is a light omegaverse romance with lots of caretaking, sweet moments, and steam. Vale is an omega and 8 months pregnant. She had a one night stand, unexpectedly got pregnant and basically was ghosted. She is struggling to make ends meet and works two jobs - waitressing and a cam girl. I loved Vale - she is strong, sweet, but also has a little attitude, too.

She “met” Bishop online and he becomes her sole patron after her pregnancy. They’ve known each other for two years and have formed an attachment to each other.

𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 works in security and is a big ol’ teddy bear for Vale. When he finds out she is being stalked, he immediately gives her his contact info. Bishop is so sweet and loves to care for Vale. He has no problem accepting Vale’s pregnancy and baby as his own.
Vale seeks out Bishop and ends up meeting his boss, Mercer, and other coworker, Holt, before he arrives to the house.

𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐫 is British, type A personality, and needs a wife to receive his full inheritance. He owns the security business and plans to use his inheritance to help trafficked omegas. He needs a wife first though. Vale dropping into their lives is a perfect opportunity. Mercer is very blunt, a little cold at first, but warms up quickly to Vale. He loves to spoil her.

𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐭 did not grow up in a pack and is hesitant about Vale. He has heard about her from Bishop and thinks she is just a gold digger. Vale and Holt are the ones that kinda have a rocky start to their relationship.

This book has a touch more darkness to it with the stalker and Vale’s situation. I am not typically a fan of pregnant-with-another-man’s-baby trope but this is so well done. This is a duet and she is pregnant the entirety of book one. It does end on a cliffhanger (which I did not see coming!) and I’m so anxious to see how everything resolves.

I can always count on Jillian West to deliver a great omegaverse, and this was her best yet! I instantly feel in love with all of the guys and how sweet and protective they are of Vale and her unborn daughter. This does end on a cliffhanger, and I seriously can’t wait to get my hands on part two!!

Before starting my review, I have a question that won't stop running through my mind. Can someone please tell me how to get my own Bishop? He's my absolute dream-book-boyfriend, with the perfect amount of red flags that only work for virtual boyfriends to fantasize about! I'm not saying I didn't like Mercer or Holt, they are great as they are, but nothing can overthrow my love for Bishop... His possessive caveman attitude is everything I long for in a book boyfriend.

"Not Ready" is the start of the "Assurance Security Duet", and even though it ends in a cliffhanger the second book is already on its way, so nothing too brutal for those who don't like to wait for the next part. I really enjoyed this first book. It's heavy on the pregnancy trope, so maybe not for everyone, but I especially liked how these men decide they don't care the baby isn't theirs. They are right in feeling a father is the person who's there for mother and child, and Bishop and Mercer are born to be this child's fathers. This book has some darkness lingering in the background, but for me it's mostly focussed on some sweet and possessive older men deciding they're all in to become the family they didn't know they were looking for. Mercer and Holt may pretend it's all fake and that they can step back after a few months, but they aren't fooling anyone but themselves.

So yeah, I'm hooked and I can't wait to watch the rest of this story unfold! There's a lot to look forward to, and I'm already counting they days until book two comes out.

I love Jillian West books and this one was no different!!
Vale is an Omega working every hour sent to her to try and keep herself and her unborn baby afloat.
I love how obsessed Bishop is. That man can do no wrong.
Mercy and Holt are amazing too both falling for Vale just at slower pace than Bishop.
That ending though! I didn't see that going i totally thought it was going to end another way but wow!
I can't wait for book two!

Comfort fest

I've read angst fest and kink fest before, but I honestly had never read comfort fest before. The book has the heroine alone just long enough to establish she's poor, vulnerable, pregnant, alone and in danger.

The rest?

I inhaled this like Vale and Holt’s armpit. I couldn’t get enough, so I stayed up way too late to finish KNOWING there would be a cliffhanger. Worth it.

Vale, Bishop, Holt, and Mercy were all so easy to love individually. I felt instantly and fiercely protective of all them (maybe I should work for Assurance Security). But I also really loved them together. The pack dynamic in an omegaverse story is always my favorite part and Jillian West is so good at creating a group that works well together while giving everyone their own distinct personalities.

Not Ready managed to be super sweet and comforting and a little smutty while also being fairly stressful. I really enjoyed the balance and pacing of it all!

I cannot wait to spend more time with these characters, meet the baby, and find out what a happy ending looks like for this pack. I will be ready to jump right back into the story when part two is released!

Audio: 4 stars for both Vanessa Moyen and Michael Gallagher

Book: 3 stars (for the full duet)

It was the first book/two books that I finished in awhile.

The beginning was good but I feel like the ending of the duet was anticlimactic especially for it being a stalker for Vale and her 3/4 Alpha’s were part of a security team.

I will say Ranger peaked my interest so I might check out his story soon!

This is a sweet omegaverse RH book. There are some dark elements, but they are kept off page - implications that SA may have happened to the FMC when she was deeply asleep/drugged, and references to sex trafficking (doesn't happen to any of our characters, but the MMCs are part of an organization trying to stop omega sex trafficking so reference is made to it).

It is a sweet, fast-burn story with a pregnant FMC who doesn't have a lot of self-worth, but the guys are determined to build her up.

The book is pretty mellow, which considering the plot you think it would be a little more intense. I do like that you get to know all the characters and they are all not drop dead gorgeous, but their personalities make them so much more. This Omega book is a better as far as the men being likable and not being cruel to the omega. It ends on a cliffhanger, and I pretty sure I know where it’s heading.

I looooved this. Pregnant and struggling cam girl omega who is in danger + 3 MMCs who own a security company = so much spoiling and caregiving. 😍😅 I also liked how distinct the MMCs were (each endearing in their own ways), and how the relationships with Vale (the FMC) developed at different speeds. As usual, Jillian West’s omegaverse hit the spot.

And that ending! I immediately went to book 2.

“You know I love you, right? I’ve been in love with you since long before I laid eyes on you in person. You’re mine, gorgeous.”

The queen of single-mother, hurt/comfort OV has done it again! I absolutely loved this first book in the Assurance Security Duet. The MMCs are sweet and protective, and the FMC, Vale, is strong, even if she is a little broken.

This book is a bit grittier than others written by Jillian, but the relationship between Vale and her alphas is light. I fell in love with them immediately, especially Bishop, the alpha who has loved her from afar.

Pregnancy, the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly, plays a significant role in the overall plot of this book. As a mother, I shared in Vale’s pains - the physical pains and coming to terms with the changes wrought on her body. The men do an excellent job reminding her how beautiful they find her, even if her inner voice says she doesn’t deserve them.

Not Ready is a medium/fast-burn and spicy why-choose romance. It has the goodness of OVs – scenting, nesting, slick and knotting, and bonding (no heats as Vale is already pregnant). The men love her baby belly, which feeds into their breeding/claiming kinks.

Part One of a duet, Not Ready, ends in a cliffhanger. I cannot wait for the conclusion to Vale’s story.

I highly recommend this OV (and anything else written by Jillian).

Genre: Contemporary Omegaverse Romance
Tropes/Features: Fake fiancée to marriage of convenience, hurt/comfort, scent matches/fated mates, protective vigilante alphas, single mother, touch starved omega, pregnancy trope, bonding, age gaps, OV elements, cam girl, ex drama, stalker, one-night stand, suspense
POV: Multiple 1st Person POV
Relationship Type: Why Choose MFMM, medium burn, spicy
Book Type/Ending: Part one of Assurance Security Duet, cliffhanger ending

I gotta be honest and say this wasn’t my absolute favorite by this author. And I generally love her books.
I didn’t especially like the fmc. I loved she was pregnant and all that entails in that situation. But not her.
She started out ok but just devolved into a pretty dumb character to me.
But I did like the men.
The way the story ended was sort of off to me too.

She all of a sudden sees the guy who ghosted her and knocked her up but then automatically blames her men for that without any explanation and decides to run away? Because they all know each other? Wtf?

The dude, Cooper, who got her pregnant during their ONS, isn’t a bad guy, was never made to be beyond ghosting her. There was ZERO reason for her to get freaked out beyond seeing the baby daddy after being left. She never got bad feelings about him. And even when they were making it sound like *maybe* Andrew had used Cooper as his way in, that never made sense and felt like a red herring. A badly placed red herring.

Idk. It felt forced.
She is literally bonded to one.
And could feel his emotions.
Why force a miscommunication trope for a cliffy?

Why not allow the story to stop right when Cooper walks in and they both realize they know each other?

Plus. The lip biting -lip chewing and such was a star loser for me. It’s one of my personal pet peeves.
Sure a person might do that out of habit but it becomes laborious to read over and over again. We get it.

Anyhoo. She is a loon.

Well, well, well. I was totally going to give this book a 4 star maybe 4.5 star review but with that cliffhanger this book knocked itself right up to five stars.

If you love the sweet coziness of Jillian West books and you're okay with a little bit more angst than usual, then you'll love this book. I adore Bishops loyalty to Vale, he's such a sweetie and I love how much he's all in. Mercer and Holt make great additions to round out the pack.

I would highly recommend you read this one, you'll get knotting, group scenes, devoted alphas, a sweet omega who isn't used to being taken care of and is desperately touch starved, and lots of other fun things too.

This is an ARC review but totally voluntary, I can't wait for book two!

I seriously just want to walk up to Jillian West and scream like I'm front row at a Backstreet Boys concert.

She👏🏻can👏🏻do👏🏻no👏🏻wrong👏🏻

Here's the thing, though: I always hesitate before I dive into a Jillian West book. Why? I have no friggin clue because she's never let me down. I make it rain 5⭐️ for her books. But, I did hesitate and put off reading this book and its duo because I saw the 'baby-daddy-drama' and was like..."ugh do I care?". YES, I care...I always care.

Anyways, the most scrumdidilyumpshish Alphas save a sweet, down-on-her-luck Omega, and there are a ton of cute lil tropes along the way: fake dating/marriage, and a third act breakup/plot twist/cliffhanger 👀

If you don't wanna read about pregnant ladies, please just move on b/c ISTG; if I see hate in these reviews, I will throw my hands...

Jillian has done it again! Not Ready is a story that we haven’t seen much of in the Omegaverse, which is a single pregnant omega. The men in this book are some of the best I’ve read in a while (I need a Bishop of my own). I also have to say that I fully appreciate Jillian’s ability to marry plot and spice in a way that gives me just what I’m looking for. Vale’s story is captivating and a page turner, and the last chapter had my mouth hanging wide open. I’m so glad I don’t have to wait that long for the second one!

This book was perfect. And I'll be impatiently waiting for the second one to come out!

I absolutely loved everything about it.
I'm such a sucker for a sweet, yet, suspenseful romance with super protective alphas. And this one was spot on! Vale was such a sweet omega! ❤️ and all the alphas were so protective of her and the baby!

•Plot:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
•Humor: 🙃🙃
•Spice:🌶🌶
•Pace: Fast! I was hooked from the second I picked up the book!

This was a fabulous find. Like truly fabulous. It was warm and sweet and funny and lighthearted with a kick. I have real issues with Holt being absolutely non-verbal on where he stands with the FL- that’s just such a dick thing to do but he still gets to reap the rewards anyways. 💀 ugh. 🔥 other than that lil bit? All of these guys are cinnamon rolls. All of them are really stinking sweet and totally lovable (I’m still miffed at Holt but I swear I don’t hate him or anything, he’s just being a punk and that annoys me greatly. Own up to your feelings bro. Fcking coward, too-cool-for-school, wannabe douche. 🥱🖕🏻 (I swear I don’t hate him for real tho, I just dislike anything that is stupidly uncommunicative. But he’s also pretty much a sweetie-JUST GIVE IIIIIIINNNN DDDD@@@MMMNNNN IIIIIITTTT!!!!!!!!))

The FL is also awesome, amazing, wonderful, a treat. She’s just so easy to vibe with and utterly adorable in her heavily pregnant state of being. I honestly think she’s a delight.

Excellent read overall tho. For real. I’ve had some seriously rough luck with my last three Omegaverse’s being junk so this one was such a relief and joy ohmygosh. 💗💗🙄💗💗
