Vale Reed finally found a pack of trustworthy men to build a life with, but chaos threatens to upend the safety she thought she'd found.

Time is ticking away on her pregnancy, and everything feels out of control with Andrew still on the loose. Not to mention Mercer’s family is in town, and with his inheritance hanging in the balance, they can't stay hidden on the compound forever.

Vale’s pack rallies around her, dead set on keeping her and the baby safe, but bad guys are more dangerous than good men.

After all, they don't have lines they won't cross.

This is part two of a duet and ends with a happy ending.

This book is 𝐌𝐅𝐌𝐌𝐌.

After that twist in Not Ready, I was so READY for this second book. Ready or Not dives straight into it and this book has some satisfying grovel from a certain alpha.

Vale is pregnant the majority of this book and still threatened by her stalker from book 1. There is a lot of sweet alpha/omega moments but also a good bit of action! This is a bit different from Jillian’s other omegaverse books and I really enjoyed it. The spice was super hot as always, too.

At the end, we get to experience Vale’s labor and delivery too. The postpartum care, breastfeeding struggles, appointments were all so accurate. As a mom myself, I really felt for Vale! Luckily for her though, she had extra help from her adoring alphas 🥹

I also NEED a book for Ranger. He was a delight and unlike any character Jillian has written. Psychotic, dry humor, calculating, cold… I need to meet the omega that breaks through to his heart!!

Overall, a fantastic conclusion to this duet. Vale adds one more alpha to her pack after some light angst and grovel but they are finally complete as a family pack. 💜

I just plain loved this - it's cute, it's sweet, it's swoony, it's sexy. I wouldn't have guessed what it was that kept Cooper from Vale. He proved himself and earned her forgiveness. Loved the dynamics between Vale and her Alphas and between all the Alphas. I absolutely believe in their love and am sure they'll make it. Generally good vibes all around.

Absolutely do not read this duet if you don't like pregnancy in romance books. The pregnancy portrayal seemed more accurate versus other books I've read.

I cannot wait to get Kate's and Sparrow's stories!

Be still my heart
We pick up right where as left off and get a glimpse into things from another characters POV. I liked that Vale admitted she let her fear take over and panicked. I really liked that things weren't dragged on just for dramas sake.

This was more suspenseful than part one. You know the stalker is watching but he won't make his move. I wish we had more time with the pack as a whole. I know books end when the action is over but I wouldn't have complained at all for more squishy family scenes.

I really liked that Cooper had valid reasons for not coming back. I read through some of the reviews and I agree he did more than enough. There were outside forces (the stalker) that kept them apart. I don't even view that as miscommunication. It's manipulation.

No MM
No birth control used but history discussed
No OW drama
Warnings for stalking
Pregnancy and birth
Murder and kidnapping

Cooper was the only character that kept me going

This. was. boring.

Really, reallyyyyy boring.

The heroine went from cute, 'wants a home' Cinderella-ish character to

I had been eagerly waiting for this book after finishing the first! I can't tell you how excited I was when I got an email saying I could download it! I pushed the book I was reading immediately to the side and downloaded it! Jillian did an incredible job not making us wait too long between releases!

I absolutely loved this duet! Everything about it. I love the pace that Jillian keeps her books at! And this one was no different than her others! It progressed quickly without leaving you hanging or questioning anything.

"She tastes like strawberries and the future."

Vale was such a strong FMC. Even after everything that she went through in the first book. I was so happy to see her get her HEA and all the alphas caring for her and Aurora!

I also LOVED the honest trusts that Vale dealt with through motherhood! And how encouraging everyone was around her, making sure she knew she was doing the right thing. She had a wonderful support system. Not just her alphas but also family/friends.

And as always, Jillian's epilogues were perfect! The best ending to an incredible duet!

•Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
•Plot:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
•Humor: 🙃🙃🙃
•Spice:🌶🌶
•Pace: Fast!
•Ending: HEA with sweet little Aurora!

This is a shortened review to avoid potential spoilers! 🤣 I'll release the other review after the release day!

Audio: 4 stars for both Vanessa Moyen and Michael Gallagher

Book: 3 stars (for the full duet)

It was the first book/two books that I finished in awhile.

The beginning was good but I feel like the ending of the duet was anticlimactic especially for it being a stalker for Vale and her 3/4 Alpha’s were part of a security team.

I will say Ranger peaked my interest so I might check out his story soon!

She’s sinfully gorgeous and too damn sweet for her own good, but that just means I get to be her monster.

I love everything about this duet! Ready or Not is such a great conclusion to Vale and her pack’s story. We get the same sweet and protective Alphas from book one, plus second chances and redemption, action and suspense, and one cute baby girl.

After the surprise revelations that closed out Not Ready, I was chomping at the bit for this second part. It was well worth the wait. I fell even more in love with Holt, Bishop, and Mercer, and even came to love [name redacted] . Give me all the cinnamon roll characters for my own harem!

Vale spends most of this book pregnant (including all the good and bad bits) with on-page depictions of childbirth and its “lovely” aftermath. Like before, the Alphas do an excellent job reminding her how beautiful they find her, how much she is cherished, and how excited they are to meet their daughter. It has all the good vibes!

This is a fast-burn and very spicy why-choose romance with the goodness of OVs – scenting, nesting, slick and knotting, and bonding (no heats, as Vale is already pregnant). The men love everything about her, baby belly and all.

Ready or Not is part two of the Assurance Security Duet and must be read in order.

I highly recommend this OV duet (and anything else written by Jillian).

Genre: Contemporary Omegaverse Romance
Tropes/Features: Marriage of convenience, second chance/redemption, hurt/comfort, scent matches/fated mates, protective vigilante alphas, single mother, touch starved omega, pregnancy trope, on-page delivery, bonding, age gaps, OV elements, stalker, one-night stand, suspense & danger
POV: Multiple 1st Person POV

Great conclusion to this duet! Plenty of action and suspense that kept me wondering what was going to happen next! I loved how things played out with the entire pack, Cooper included! It was tender and sweet and steamy in all the right ways!

So excited for Ranger's sisters book (and Ranger/Kate/the others!)

Highly recommend if you're looking for a sweet omegaverse with a dash of romantic suspense!

I couldn’t wait for this book!! Jillian west is one of my favorites and the 2nd part of this duet brought everything together. This book was sweet, lovey, a little suspenseful and the spice was 🥵🥵! Bishop is still my favorite in this group but I loved Cooper too! I loved the pregnancy trope bc it just isn’t done in the OV world. Val was a wonderful FMC and I hate that her story is done but also can’t wait for what’s next!🖤

Such a great conclusion to this duet. Jillian West knocked it out of the park with this one. After the twist ending from part one, I’ve been waiting desperately for part two and I couldn’t put it down! I’m so sad that’s it’s over. I loved this pack and the family they made.

A heartwarming conclusion to the Assurance Security duet, Jillian West's best duology yet!

Not only do we pick up right where we left off from part one, but we get to experience it from the other packmates POV.
Our newest arrival, Cooper, is a surprising twist that adds just enough low-angste and cautiousness to keep readers enthralled while wholeheartedly optimistic. And boy do we love Cooper!

Part two is full of dangers that are resolved quickly while keeping the plot progressing forward at a pace that makes readers comfortable and feeling cozy.

(But real talk... Jillian... Are we going to be rewarded with Ranger's story? 🤞🤞)

I immediately read this after book 1 (of the duet), and overall I liked it, but the first book was definitely stronger.

I really liked the beginning of book 2, but the pacing felt uneven in the middle. Very spoilery thoughts as a reminder to my future self:

I did like the ending though, I’m glad the stalker storyline didn’t wrap up the way I originally expected.

Ahhhhhhhhmazing! I absolutely loved part 2 of this series.

The guys are absolutely amazing and supportive. It really shows the bonds they have with each other and with Vale. I loved how this book showed the parts of pregnancy that are often overlooked and made more realistic. And how the guys absolutely adore her and Aurora.

The story was so great, it was a nice read. It has the darker elements but it’s not as draining and has all the good stuff to balance it out. Loved the book and love Jillian’s stories!

I really grew on Ranger and actually found him hysterical especially because Vale genuinely couldn’t tell if he was kidding or not, but truly was not bothered by his personality.

The epilogues were great, loved the little bonus ones in the future. I can’t wait to see what will happen next. There are so many characters stories I want to know about; Kate and her guys, Rangers sister, and Merrick/Steele.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5

Troupes/features: OV, MFMMM, female omega and 4 male alphas, private security MMCs, knotting, scenting, pregnant omega FMC, stalker, mild violence, MMCs fall hard, comfort/caring.

3.5. The reason for my score is because they have have too much going on with side characters. Also it feels like I jumped in middle of a series, it just felt like the background characters had already had their story and needed to read their books to get the whole picture.Again th guys are awesome and someone really did their homework on pregnancy or had first hand experience. I hope Ranger gets his own book. This book is a little more smutty for those of you who enjoy that.

I’m always a little bit sad when I come to the end of a Jillian West book. Because it means I need to wait for the next one to come out ready or not is a continuation of the first part of the assurance security series. And book one we were left on a cliffhanger we found out who the person she had a one night stand with was. And now we’re starting to see the aftermath. We also also see the continuation of what is happening with her stalker. There are a few other surprises thrown in here and there and more things happening with side characters that I’m sure we’ll see become main characters sooner or later in another book down the line. Overall I really did like this series. This is a little bit more suspenseful than action-packed than Jillian usually does but I would say that she did it very well. I don’t think this series is going to be for everyone as the whole entire time. She is usually pregnant from the very beginning of book one until now, but it did not bother me one bit as it is not a surprise pregnancy as it happens before the the first book even starts! If you love Jillian, you’ll love this!!

While it was clear there needed to be a second book, I felt this installment missed some opportunities to deepen the relationships—both individually and as a pack. There was so much potential to explore more meaningful connections, but it didn’t quite deliver. For instance, Mercy’s parents were talked about extensively in the first book, but they barely made an appearance here. Similarly, I didn’t get the backstory I was hoping for with Holt or Bishop. At some point, it would have been lovely to see their families interact with Vale and the baby—it could have added so much depth and heart to the story.

Going into this book, I already suspected I wouldn’t like Cooper, and unfortunately, I was right. While his explanation for past actions was solid, it still felt insufficient. It made him come across as lacking, especially considering what he’d done. I was here for the groveling (who doesn’t love a good redemption arc?), but his smug swagger often undercut the sincerity of his efforts. At times, it felt like he was more focused on proving to everyone that he was a better man than his actions suggested—but for his own benefit, not theirs. By the end, I barely came around to liking him, but it was a hard-won battle.

As for the stalker subplot, once again, it fell flat. Even during the supposed confrontation, I didn’t feel any real danger—he still felt like a non-threatening dud. On the other hand, Ranger was a standout. His brand of chaos and unpredictable energy was such a refreshing addition, and I would have loved to see more of him. He seems like the kind of character who could bring a lot of fun and excitement to the story.

What I really missed in this book was the suspense, drama, and the thrill of watching the group find their way together. While Vale’s pregnancy understandably played a central role, it would’ve been nice to see her develop other interests or get involved in something outside of preparing for the baby. That balance of drama, humor, and unpredictability that made the first book so engaging felt absent here.

That said, I’ll always read anything this author writes. Jillian has a gift for creating characters and worlds that pull you in, and I’m hopeful for more twists, surprises, and depth in future books.

Amazing end to a duet!! It's still got the reverse harem aspect (though if you're hoping for some group sex sessions, you'll be disappointed), a damsel in distress kind of vibe, Omega tendencies for sex all the time, and we're still dealing with Vale's stalker, who has definitely gotten more intense. It also has a HEA!

In the Amazon summary it states, "Vale Reed finally found a pack of trustworthy men to build a life with." FINALLY? Vale wasn't ever really looking for a pack and has actually actively avoided them most of her life and really only "tried" with one person, Cooper, who ends up coming back into her life anyway. Doesn't seem like there's been much trying to begin with and she honestly fell into the situation she's in as it is.

We get to meet Vale's baby daddy and find out that he's NOT a total piece of shit and chose to leave her on purpose. Turns out, he's already close to the pack that she's chosen to build. And while it's a little confusing as to how he came to be in her life, they ultimately talk things out and Cooper spends the rest of the book making it up to her. Which I think is kind of shitty, because he did try and leave her a message but her stalker came in and took the information. His feelings were also low key hurt because he was under the impression that she had his number and was CHOOSING not to reach out to him. He was respecting her space and choice and not bug her at her place of work; I'm really not sure why Vale and the whole pack hold that against him for so long. Everyone gets to be mad at him and give him shit about it, but no one sees things from his perspective. That kind of sucks for him. What I do like about the whole Cooper as baby daddy scenario is how quickly his family jumps on board and is excited for their new family member! They had all met her before but their relationship changes after they find out, and it's nice that Vale has a mother figure who she can really confide in if needed.

A good portion of the summary that you can find on Amazon states, "Mercer’s family is in town, and with his inheritance hanging in the balance." While the reader definitely gets to meet Mercy's family, it's not as big a part of the storyline as I assumed it would be. Vale has very little interaction with his family and what interactions they do have together don't necessarily go very smoothly. Mercy put this whole scenario together because his inheritance was "vital" to the growth of their company, but as soon as Vale is in the picture it doesn't matter all that much? Seems like they would put a little more effort into making sure his family was going to accept their relationship and nurturing that to get the money they need to save more people. Ya know, for the greater good and all that jazz. But some woman's feelings trump his relationship with his family and his life long goals? Oookaaaaay ... *insert an eye roll here* And the fact that Mercy's family ends up giving him his inheritance, despite them disagreeing with what he wants to do with the money and not liking Vale? Seems like that wouldn't actually happen and we were just using that to feed into the HEA trope to wrap things up.

Holt doing a total 180 seems out of the blue. He was kind of wishy washy on the whole "for life" bit and all of a sudden is obsessed and on board with having a baby and Vale in his life forever? I mean, I get that they're all affected by the Omega and their scent matches, but that just seems to be random after all the standoffish-ness we got from him in the first book.

I am still a fan of how possessive Bishop is of Vale and how he was protecting her as much as possible while she was still a cam girl and respecting that he couldn't just come in and take over her life. And beating the crap out of her baby daddy when we initially thought he was a piece of shit? Swoon. He's a giant pile of mushy feelings and I am here for it.

Andrew is still a piece of garbage and continues to do some weird ass shit through this book too. They skimmed over the fact that he might have sexually assaulted Vale while she was sleeping. Confirmed that Cooper is in fact the biological dad because they were so concerned about it and wanted to question Andrew to determine what all had happened while he was stalking Vale. Then he just gets straight up murdered at the end and they get to verify none of that. Seems like a larger plot hole to me, given that these guys work in private security and are hugely protective of Vale. Seems like that would be information that they would want, regardless of the fact if Vale wanted to know or not. I appreciate her stance of not needing to know all the details, especially the information that would cause her a ton of stress. I do the same shit in my house and I can totally relate to this.

Even though her pregnancy is one happening in a fictional story and a lot of what goes down would never in real life, I like that this pregnancy isn't painted in rainbows/butterflies and seems to paint a realistic picture of pregnancy symptoms. Even being stupid horny is a side effect for regular women, though I'm fairly certain a human wouldn't want to lick the sweat off of anyone. Being pregnant can really suck for a lot of people, and it's nice to see that it wasn't a short or misery free experience for Vale. Her labor wasn't an easy one push and done either and having the dude's experience her pain while she's in labor? Chef's kiss! Wish we could make that happen for our significant others in real life. Reading about the guys all falling to pieces over themselves and their new addition is fantastic though. And makes me insanely jealous at the same time. Having 4 guys who are over the moon excited to help with a newborn? Who the hell wouldn't want that? The only aspect that I'm not on board with is that they start fooling around within several weeks of Vale having that baby. Like blow jobs in the shower and finger banging? That wouldn't happen ... and I'm not really even sure it seems realistic for an Omega.

The break in at the end of the book and all of the stalking coming to a head at the end was very confusing. Especially with the addition of the information with Kate not being who she said she was initially and her connection to everything and how Ranger is connected as well. I read that stuff a couple of times over and maybe I'm just slow, but I didn't really understand a lot of it. Seems like it would be important to figure out since it felt like lead up for another book too. And while we're on the subject of Kate ... what a bitch. I know that Vale feels a lot of guilt over everything that happened to her and that she's a good friend, but Kate is really just mean to Vale and doesn't seem like a good friend, or even a good person. Vale is glad that Kate is okay after going missing and gives her a hug and Kate's reaction is to tell her to get off? And Vale gets her protection after her stalker ends up in their apartment and she just gets pissed about it and questions when Vale is getting her shit out? I don't really feel like Vale owes her any kind of loyalty and am not even sure that I would continue to call her a friend after her shit attitude.

I really enjoyed this duet and this second book as well. Even though I feel like the entire book is lacking in group sex scenes, the smut that is there is on point. I mean, why have a reverse harem situation if you're not going to capitalize on the group sex they could be having? Vale has to be the horniest person alive and has a ton of Omega instincts that lead to sex or some kind of something in almost every chapter.
Came for the storyline and stayed for the smut. You should too.

A really cute series, I loved how caring Vale's mates were throughout the pregnancy (and then afterwards). Aurora is one lucky girl.

I have to say I just did not give a shit about Kate, though. She mostly came across as selfish and a bad friend to me, and I'm gonna pass on her book(s).

3.5ish. This one hits every spot for those who love pregnancy storylines. Both it, and part one, have a TON. Her alphas are devoted to her, and the overall story is very sweet, despite the stalker and other stuff. I do think she caved and listed to the one alpha way earlier than I ever would, but that's why I'm not the main character ig. This did have healthy relationships, and this author is always great at creating characters who will never make you question their loyalty. I also really loved one side character and would definitely read his book (does he have one? I need to find out) solely for him alone. My biggest reason for the rating is that it seemed to drag on a little, but I also recognize that the main point of this duet was the pregnancy itself.

I never picked up the last book of a series so fast. I needed to know what was going on with Cooper, Bishop, Mercy, Vale and Holt. The cliffhanger had me reeling. What are the odds!! Andrew is still after Vale. Secrets are spilled. Lines are crossed. Vale is close other due date and needing her men close. Checking on the baby is one of the most important things I love about this book. When Andrew makes his move, all hell breaks loose. When he finally is not a threat everything goes back to normal and sweet and spicy again. Definitely a great read.

I didn’t really vibe with this half of the book. Took me forever to finish because it wasn’t holding my attention like book one. It wasn’t awful but I feel like things were so stretched out that once we got to the end I was like “huh”. Kate was annoying and a horrible friend, the guys seemed to have lost a lot of their personality, Vale was super repetitive in her thoughts. Idk.

I loved the ending of this duet! It has more angst than her usual style, and I loved the new, darker style for her. Yet, it's not as dark in comparison with other books out there. I’ve not read an omegaverse with the FMC pregnant from the start and was worried it would take away the spice with no heat scenes. The pregnancy made the spice SO much better; it was ongoing vs. for a crazy few days.

Jillian West can do no wrong when it comes to OmegaVerse, pregnancy trope, breeding kink, the most delectable Alphas, and relatable Omegas.

This is such a *chef's kiss* closure for a duet. I just wanna squeeze it! My favorite of all favorites from Jillian West is that she always gives us the best epilogues.

This book is perfection, just like the first one, and if you don't want to read a pregnancy trope...don't. There is legit a pregnant chick on the cover...shoo.

The cliffhanger at the end of the first book in the Assurance Security Duet was in line of my expectations, and so was the development of the plot lines in this second and final part. As a result, "Ready or Not" became kind of a comfort read for me, leaving plenty of room and time to reminiscence about my own pregnancies and the birth of my children. Somehow I believe that isn't entirely what the author intented to do, but it was still very enjoyable for me as a reader.

I believe there are a lot of different ways to enjoy this duet: for some there are multiple unexpected twists and turns in the storyline, for others it becomes more of a comfort read focussed on relationship building and for a few the duet is filled with more action than they might have anticipated at first. For me, that's beautiful: a book that manages to create a whole bunch of different reading experiences depending on the reader itself, is a form of art I greatly admire. And the result of that shows in the bunch of five star reviews, all highlighting very different things.

So I definitely enjoyed this duet, and I'm really hoping we'll see more of some of these side characters in the future. There are lots of possibilities presented, and I can't wait to see what comes next.

“Ready or Not” is the second part of the Assurance Security duet.

I will admit, the cliffhanger in book one left me so curious as to how this book would start! Needless to say, the opening of the book was a good indicator of how the book in its entirety would flow: fast.

Vale does spend the majority of this book pregnant, and I was very surprised to see how quickly her pack grew. What I thought was established as a pack of convenience, quickly (and quite suddenly) turned into a legitimate pack. I felt like I blinked and the other men, save Bishop, were calling her their wife and ensuring they were in a position to bond her ASAP. Compared to book one, where you have certain characters (read: Mercer) stressing that the pack is simply formality, this sudden change in tone left me feeling like I suffered whiplash.

In this book, we’re able to get more of Cooper and Vale’s backstory, while simultaneously getting to know the remaining members of the pack.

It was an overall enjoyable book, but not my favorite from this author. It was slightly too fast paced for me, and in the end I would have enjoyed seeing more of Vale and her pack post baby. Unfortunately, that was saved for the final quarter of the book and the epilogues.

This was sooooooo good!!! I couldn’t wait for the second book to come out and it did not disappoint!! I wouldn’t change a single thing.

Mercy is my favorite- ughhhh I wish we could just go to the store and pick a man like that up! Haha such a cute story and all of the characters were so likeable!
