I thought I’d hate this book and that it would be chauvinistic or at worst misogynistic . It wasn’t, thankfully, although there was chauvinism there - and in the end I didn’t hate the book. I just didn’t like it very much. I really don’t recognise this category of men as still existing in my life and thought it was actually quite insulting to men in general. I am thankful that the simple, uncomplicated blokes as described in this book - those who just want some ‘peace & quiet’, to be free from the responsibility of making decisions (other than ‘Cobra or Negroni’) and therefore avoid any accountability on their part for anything are rarer now then when I was a child. So - 1 star for giving me food for thought and making me proud of the men in my life for being thoughtful individuals. Zero stars for sweeping generalisations.
A pretty funny book you can dive in and out of - and probably a good one for Father's Day.
I found some of the chapters amusing and can easily call to mind certain people that fall into the categories given. I liked the little facts and statements at the start of some chapters. Plus the sunscreen explanation was great.
Other chapters I felt were a little close to the mark of being excuses hidden as a joke. Maybe I'm a little too jaded from being mansplained to or having arguments about housework - but I'm still not going to give out medals...
Overall, it's good for a snigger and I bet the delivery is hilarious by audiobook - as it's narrated by Geoff himself, and he's a very funny bloke.
*I received a complementary copy of the book from RandomThingsTours and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
What do you think of when you think of men? When I think of men, I think of Sport, Beer, Food, Cars and Women, I think most of us do. Geoff tells us about his own personal life experiences. Any man reading this will be able to relate to what Geoff is talking about in this book. Having five grown up lads, and I found this really funny as I could see certain things in my lads, what they say and do. This would be a great gift for a birthday present, Christmas present or even Father's Day (which is coming up). The book was a easy read that you can pick up and put down, as well as having you laughing out loud.
