I adore this series and now I’m all caught up and ready for Pros Don’t in April!

Rose and Anton were fantastic characters. Anton is a NFL quarterback who also happens to be a prince. Rose is a security operative who was assigned to an unknowing Anton five years ago. They fell in love but then Rose was pulled from assignment and she had to break up with him, essentially pulverizing both of their hearts. Now, Rose finds herself once again assigned to protect Anton.

I loved seeing the progression of the relationship in this one, through both the flashbacks and the present day timeline.

It was definitely intense in the last little bit of the book; I couldn’t put it down! Now I can’t wait for Holland’s story!

Favorite Quotes:
😍 “I want you. I want to love you. I think you want that too. So would you just let me?"

❤️ "Don't ever make yourself scarce around me. I want all of you, all the time. The good. The bad. The snarky. I want your best days and your worst ones, and if you'll have mine, I'll share them all with you too."

Adored every second

Hello Mr Darcy *cough* I mean Anton 😍

The minute I read the epilogue in Enemies Don't I knew I was going to love Rose and Anton's story and it did not disappoint.

The swooniness, the flashbacks, the heartfelt moments are just ahhh so good.

I loved Rose's growth and confidence and how she stood up for herself.

Anton is the sweetest and his bromance with his football brothers was awesome. I love his love of Rose. Just ugh it was so swoony.

THE MR DARCY LINE

Y'all.

I can't even with the swoony moments in this book

100/10 totally recommend!

💋Kisses only
⚠️Anton's mom is a pill. So is Rose's dad. Rose lost her mom at a young age.

Had to stay up late to finish it. Maybe Leah’s best book to date!? I’m bias because I enjoy them all but the combo of the football, the undercover security specialist, the books, the sister relationships, the way certain characters forgive each other, and the climax of the book, stole the show for me!

“…When I’m with you I feel like I’m who I want to be.”

Can’t wait for book 4!

Savory trope soup

Never have I ever read such a perfect blend of so many fun plot devices. Rose, who works at a bookstore, totally owns the tropiness of her own story and rocks it. I love the scrappy and supportive Kasper sisters. Though I figured out the bad guy, I didn't quite get the why, and it all came together nicely along with the grandest grand gesture. Adorable. This will become a favorite reread.

Amazing story! Full of heart and humor. I loved all the banter, genuine relationships, and journey of self discovery. Each of the characters had to grow and change in order to get together, and I love that we get to see that as part of the story. A perfect sweet winter romance!

**I received an ARC of Exes Don’t and this is my review now that I’ve finished**

This book does contain split timelines, where I normally do not love them, It didn’t happen throughout the entire book, and it was so crucial in helping you fall in love with both Rose and Anton. Which I absolutely did!

Exes don’t is part of the Fall in Love series, but can absolutely be read as a stand alone. (Although I highly recommend you read Poppy and Noli’s story as well) I can easily say this was my favorite of the 3 so far.

Rose was hired years ago to protect Anton but instead she fell in love. When she was forced to break it off with him. Even though she still kept an eye on him when she moved to Cashmere Cove she wasn’t expecting to be asked to protect him again. More so, she definitely did not expect Anton to forgive her for leaving him all those years ago. You will not be disappointed in this second chance romance.

Sports, royalty & spies, I can honestly say I have not read a book like this! This is a spice free book, but Anton will still have you swooning.

The tattoo? The list? The book club? Come on 😅

It kept me on my toes waiting for the ball to drop on when Anton would find out who Rose really was.

**Thank you Leah for choosing me to read an ARC of Exes Don’t. This is my honest review after finishing the book! I hope you give Duke a story 🫣**

**I received an ARC of Exes Don't and this is my post-reading review.**

I've read just about all of Leah Dobrinska's books and absolutely devoured the first two Fall in Love series books, so I was thrilled to be selected as an ARC reader for Exes Don't.

Rose and Anton have quite the backstory. She is essentially living a double life and he is a royal AND a professional football player. Dobrinska, a master of multiple genres, effortlessly combined so many elements into a book that I couldn't stop reading or even get enough of. Don't worry, the reader favorites, such as pop culture references, The Downer, Mood Reader, and text threads between the Kasper sisters are still very much a part of this third book of the series!

One might expect professional athletes to be unapproachable or cocky, instead Anton and his teammates have such a camaraderie that truly resembles a loving and supportive community, one where they're looking out for each other and not afraid to be honest. In each scene with the teammates, the reader could feel like they're right there as Anton's friends do their best to support, intervene, and fail to be discreet about listening in or watching the couple. This is what I always thought being one of the guys might be like. Operation Beauty and the Beast was so clever and perfect, (which also reminded me of a specific "Operation" in Dobrinska's Together with You 😉).

Once again the value of family was prevalent, but it also emphasized that family isn't always just by blood. I thoroughly enjoyed how Mack, Collin, and even Holland are still included, so readers can still get a better idea of these guys who have intertwined their lives with the Kasper sisters.

As a fellow Wisconsinite, I love all the "Wisconsin-isms" in the book. Native Cheeseheads will also appreciate aspects such as the Polar Plunge, team pride and football games, and small town charms.

I've said it once, but I'll say it again that Dobrinska's books need to be turned into Hallmark movies. While so many original Hallmark movies seem to have recycled story lines and elements, I truly think that Exes Don't could hands down be incredible as a movie because it's so unique and unlike anything else I've ever read or seen on the screen.

Go River Foxes!

I adored this book, it was so fun and I love the characters. Exes Don’t is the third book in Leah Dobrinksa’s Fall in Love series. Rose and Anton’s story was so engaging and I loved reading about them.
I adored Rose! She was so relatable and I really felt for her as she tried to navigate life. She was trying to make sense of the world that she was experiencing as she found herself facing her ex, Anton, again. Rose was so strong but there were also times when she felt so alone. Rose had to learn how to let Anton and her family in. It was sweet to read about her reconnecting with Anton.
Anton was such a sweet guy. I loved him too. He definitely felt the weight of his decisions and the weight of his position, the crown. He had fallen hard for Rose, and didn’t know how to interact with her again when she showed up in his life. Anton was also trying to figure out life. It was fun to read about him interacting with his team and seeing the connection that he had with them.
The romance was perfect, I loved the connection that Rose and Anton had together. Their history made things complicated especially since they ended on a bad note. It was kind of a slow burn because they weren’t necessarily looking to reconnect. Ross and Anton helped ground each other. They understood each other as they tried to overcome the obstacles that stood before them.
The side characters were wonderful! I loved the relationships that both Anton and Ross had. Ross’s sisters were so fun and it was cool to see them again. The guys on the team were hilarious, and they definitely became Anton’s family.
I loved Exes Don’t! I would totally recommend it. It had the perfect blend of romance, excitement, and humor. The characters drew me in and I didn’t want to put the book down. Exes Don’t is a closed door romantic comedy.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

Exes Don't: A Second Chance Romantic Comedy (Fall In Love Series Book 3)
By: Leah Dobrinska
Pub Date October 8th, 2024

If you enjoy...

◇Rom Coms
◇Small Town
◇Sports Romance
◇Hallmark Vibes
◇ Fast Paced Stories
◇Second Chance Romances

Then, I recommend checking this one out in October. It felt like a Hallmark movie in a book 📖.

Thank you to the author for sending an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Book Synopsis:
"A fast-paced and fun sports and spy romantic comedy…let the games begin!

Rose Kasper has a secret. A big one. She’s a spy. Okay…not exactly. She works as an undercover security specialist. For a decade, she’s used dry humor, deflection, and self-deprecation to keep herself distanced from her sisters and friends in order to hide her double life. But when a man she dated for the job years ago—the same man she foolishly let herself get close to—is in danger, she must place herself in his playing field yet again. Whether he likes it or not.

Anton Bates has a full life juggling his roles as star quarterback of the Green Bay River Foxes and Prince of Penwick, a small island nation off the coast of Norway. He’s slow to trust, having been used for his position—both of them—on more than one occasion. So when Rose Kasper, a woman whom he loved and lost, sweeps back into his life, he wants nothing to do with her. Or does he?

Anton audibles and decides to use his unexpected reunion with Rose as an opportunity to prove to her that the two of them together are a touchdown. Rose knows she doesn’t deserve Anton—not with all the lies and deceit. But his game plan is working, and she starts to believe that if she's honest with him, maybe things between them can be different this time. But when the truth comes out and Anton’s life is at risk, their second chance looks like it’ll end in a loss.

Because exes don’t fall in love…do they?"

Y'all, this book. If I could rate it higher than 5 stars, I would. With each book I read, Leah Dobrinska, solidifies her spot in my favorite authors list. This is the third book in the Fall in Love series and I cannot shout my praises enough, it's just so very good.

Rose and Anton are the perfect second chance couple. Rose is fierce and loyal and protective, and getting to read through her growth and emotional development was awesome. Her struggle with keeping secrets and figuring out her own identity was so real, and the way she constantly gave of herself to help those around her, I just love her. And boy, don't even get me started on Anton. He is the swooniest, sweetest, and most lovable. I already had a crush on Joe Burrow, I didn't need a fictional man to make it even worse. He is so dedicated and caring, and he and Rose push each other in all the best ways.

Then, we have the side characters. Of course, the Kasper sisters are wonderful, and I have loved getting to spend more time with them with each book that comes out. They love each other so completely, and are always in each others' corners (often with a snarky quip). And goodness, how much I adore Anton's teammates is unreal. I was always so eager for scenes with the team that I'm so very hopeful that there will be a River Fox team spinoff series. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for Holland and Mallory, but I need a story for Poe, TJ, and Del at least.

There are also so many good, deep life lessons about self-worth and forgiveness that may or may not have made me tear up.

Second chance isn’t usually one of my favorite tropes, but this book is easily one of my favorite reads this year. I cannot recommend this book enough. Thank you so very much, Leah, for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. Count me in for any book you ever decide to write. All opinions are my own.

What’s worse than running into the ex you never forgot?  Falling into a snowbank and tripping over a trashcan when you see them again for the first time in five years, whoops!  I think there is something so comical about those first unexpected reunion glances!

Anton Bates, Penwick prince, pro football QB, all around great guy, but still bitterly hung up on Rose Kasper!  When they first met, it was clear he was smitten and would do anything to impress her, but as time went on when she severed ties he became emotionally detached!  Fast forward 5 years, he’s still attracted to her but harbors a range of emotions towards his ex, that and she must write a feature article on him!  Good luck sir… you’re gonna need it!

Rose Kasper is not all she appears to be!  At the tail end of the previous book, we see her cross paths with a blast from the past, who wants/needs her to meet up with Anton Bates, the man she never really forgot!  Last time she saw him, she was a dancer/cheerleader and now she’s a freelance reporter, sounds confusing but really it isn’t.  While the protags’ paths cross, a few things are obvious, while there is tension because of their pasts, there is still an undeniable chemistry!

I love the unpredictability of how these two will behave around each other!  I also appreciate Leah’s subtle use of flashbacks to help lend to the present-day situations that the leads find themselves in!  The incorporation of side characters, her family members and his River Fox teammates make the story well-rounded!  This story was most enjoyable and knowing this series is ending with the next book is something I don’t even want to think about right now!  Leah Dobrinska has a way of capturing your heart for the story from beginning to end and we are all the better for it!  Great job!

Exes Don't is the third book in the Fall in Love series. While I think you'll have a better understanding of the family dynamic in Rose's family if you have read the previous books, this could probably still be enjoyed as a standalone as well. That said, this series is a favorite of mine and one I'd definitely recommend as a whole.

Simply put... I'm completely obsessed with this book. Just when I think this series cannot possibly get any better--- it goes and does just that! A secret spy and a pro football playing prince!? Yeah, there was a whole lot going on in this story and on paper, it doesn't seem like it SHOULD all work together... but Leah Dobrinska absolutely pulled it all together in a story that I absolutely could not put down! The chemistry between Rose and Anton was absolutely flying off the pages--- I loved them together. The glimpses back at their history had me fully invested in seeing them get their second chance at a happily ever after. Anton's teammates added a great sense of found family to the story as well, and I really loved their relationship too. (Seriously, I would love to see these guys get stories in the future as well!) The hint of danger kept the story exciting... and while I can't give anything away, I'll just say I loved the unexpected turns that their story took! It was just SO well done, and I enjoyed every moment. I cannot wait to see what happens next in the series!

Exes Don't is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.

"The trope gang is all here: enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, mutual pining, co-workers. The list goes on and on."

I don't think I can even describe in enough words how much I loved this story. I love and appreciate the complete irony at the beginning of the story as Rose contemplates what kind of romance she definitely will NOT write:
1) No sports
2) No royalty
3) No spies
4) No miscommunication

Guess what kind of story this is...

It could be so silly, but it is not. It's fabulous. It's a little 'á la First Daughter,' if you remember that awesome early 2000s movie with Katie Holmes, but this is a version for grown-ups. The royal part really isn't the focus, but it is really important to the story.

And oh, and the mutual pining... 🥰🥰🥰 This is where a dual POV story is done so well. Rose and Anton are stormy in all the best ways. I wanted them to overcome all the obstacles, and I love that it wasn't an easy, or even a pretty, wrap-up. There was a lot of great emotional tension for a romcom, and I had to fight not skipping ahead to the end by the time I was two-thirds of the way through to alleviate it. Man, self-control is HARD.

I REALLY needed an extended epilogue. Rose and Anton could have an entire series to themselves. Just sayin'.

Run, don't walk, to snag this read!

Mini Review:

Exes Don’t by Leah Dobrinska is book three of the (Fall in Love) series but it can be read as a stand alone. I honestly haven’t had the chance to read the first two in the series yet. The first books I had read by Leah Dobrinska was her Cozy Mystery series but I loved them so much. When I saw this one coming out I decided it looked like a lot of fun. And it has definitely been that you have got Anton, a famous football player who’s also a real life prince. And then you have Rose, she broke his heart and now she’s back in his orbit. At first he wants her gone and I love the tension between these two. Then you have the fact she’s his secret bodyguard which adds a whole other layer of complexity into the story. Rose’s cover story puts her in Anton’s proximity so she can protect him. and then we have his teammates with their interactions. I caught myself laughing out loud, absolutely afraid I might wake my husband. One thing I love about a sports romance besides the romance is the found family within the team you will crave those moments in the story they just make me bubble up inside. I also love the past and present scenes where we get to go back in time and see little snippets of their past which helps you understand Rose and Anton’s story even more. I definitely want to grab a copy of this one in paperback.

Rose and Anton were so good together! I loved their meet cute and the instant strong chemistry between them. I loved that Rose and Anton were similar in just wanting to be seen for themselves. I loved that how they brought out the best in each other. I love the Kasper sisters’ bond and this book showed how deeply they all love each other.

Favorite Quotes
I hop off the plane at LAX with neither a dream nor a cardigan. Nope. I’ve got a sketchy-at-best plan to get near Anton and a rolled-up formal dress in my carry-on bag. So far, my party in the USA is not nearly as glamorous as Miley makes it sound.

The seed of hope in my chest has grown into a full-blown tree. There are lush leaves and sturdy branches, and look, there’s a hammock where Rose and I can cuddle up together. What I want out of my life hits me with the force of a linebacker barreling into me for a sack. I want Rose by my side. I want to make her smile. I want my last name to be hers. I want her wearing my jersey, or my shirt, or my sweatshirt, or whatever. I want her.

Romance novels do something for people’s spirits. Romance is an outlet of hope. Believing in love is nothing to be ashamed of.

I loved getting to know the first two Kasper sisters and since I knew less about Rose, I wasn't sure what to expect especially because of all the tropes that were told to be in it. Second chance, sports, prince, spy--like seriously I was like this is headed all over the place, but once I started reading, none of it felt too outlandish and I definitely now have a soft spot for Rose Kasper, too. Anton is a sweetie and his little (big) heart just kept persevering-bless his heart.

I was not expecting the spy/body guard mystery side of the story and I found that delightful and kept me engaged in the story in between the lovey dovey parts. :)

Here's one of my favorite highlighted lines: "He lifts his hand, and I think he's going to wave at me, but he swirls one finger around in a circle. He's asking me to twirl. [...] I do a slow spin so he can see the jacket from all angles."

All in all I'm so happy I received an ARC so I was able to zip through this story and feel at home again in Cashmere Cove. Four and a half stars rounded to five. :)

Rose and Anton brought their A-game in this sweet rom-com sports romance!

Exes Don’t focuses on Rose, the middle Kasper sister in the Fall in Love series. Rose works at Mood Reader, a local bookshop in Cashmere Cove, Wisconsin. Rose has another job though, one that she’s had for years and no one knows about. When she gets the chance to work with Anton Bates star football player and her ex, she knows she has to keep her feelings for him in check. She can do that, she’s a professional. She’s strong, she’s sweet, she's a security specialist!

Rose and her sisters are hilarious. Add in Anton and his teammates, and it’s a laugh out loud good time. There are also some pretty emotional moments as well. Everything is balanced out.

When it comes to sweet romances, I can count on this author. She brings the heat, but only to a certain point. Lots of kissing and romantic gestures in this swoony romance.
Thank you to the author for the digital review copy, and for letting me share my early thoughts on Exes Don’t.

This book legitimately had some of the swooniest, sweetest, cutest, most adorable (etc) moments! Anton was absolutely gone for Rose and it was so stinkin’ cute! I loved the flash back chapters the most (and I literally never say that.)

“I want you. I want to love you. I think you want that too. So would you just let me?”

I mean…. is this guy for real? Haha obviously not.

However, I definitely felt like the plot was kind of all over the place. There was just too much going on. A second chance romance between a football MMC and his (secret) bodyguard ex girlfriend would have been enough, but he’s also a prince and she’s also posing as a writer for a newspaper and pretending to write an article about him and there’s someone trying to hurt him and his mom is the queen and she works for her dad and they’ve had a past relationship where she was also secretly guarding him, but posing as his girlfriend… and, and, and…

I found myself thinking, “Why?” a lot because nothing was super flushed out. It was just a lot of tidbits that didn’t really come together to make a full picture.

Plot: Rose has always worked odd jobs. It appears she can’t keep a job. Little does everyone else know, she is living a double life. As a secret agent, rose has been trained to protect people of interests, royals and celebrities alike. After a threat gets made to Anton, the European prince playing NFL and living in the states, Rose gets assigned to protect him. The only problem? He hates extra security and doesn’t know she is there as that. The other problem? This isn’t the first time she has been assigned to protect him. Only, the last time ended worse than she could have imagined. With two broken hearts. What will happen as they spend time together again? Have their hearts moved on? Can they be civil?

What I liked: I liked that Anton didn’t hold the past against her at first. I liked that he tried to involve her because he knew he was still loving her. I also loved his friends watching out for him. I loved that roses sisters were supportive of her and cared for her, despite her holding the truth in for so long.

What I didn’t like: I didn’t like Anton’s mom, Charles, or Rose’s dad. They all sucked and are not fit to be parents or rulers

Swearing: none

Physical intimacy level: closed door, swoony kisses

Star rating: 4 stars

Trope: workplace romance, second chance romance, double life, forced proximity, sports romance

This was fun with getting to know the last Kasper sister Rose and her spy 😉 ways. I liked that the MMC (Anton) is a Prince from a small country that comes to the US to play football and he stays.

So Rose is hired as his security detail because of a threat, though they don't let him know that... But this is actually the second time she is doing this and the last time ended in disaster..... With them falling for each other but circumstances pulled them from each other.. So to say neither of them is totally happy is an understatement.

I do love how these two just can't help but soften toward each other for the second time. I like the "wear my jersey/number and no one else's" attitude, so swoony 😍

The ending was full of some surprises and a certain scene that just felt like justice was finally complete for these sisters. I'm going to miss hanging out in Cashmere Cove but am TOTALLY excited for whose book is to come next..

Let me start by saying I'm not a fan of split timeline or second-chance romances, but I AM a fan of Leah Dobrinska, so I decided to risk it and try this book.

I'm SO glad I did!

Book 3 in the Cashmere Cove/Kasper Sisters trilogy, this book gives us our first real look at Rose, the middle child. We don't know much about her from the previous books, and there's a reason why--her job requires her to keep relationships distant. But this book throws her back into a professional relationship with Anton, a cinnamon roll prince who's willing to try again.

This book has all of the humor of the first two books and plenty of swoony scenes. But it might give you a neck ache from staying up too late in bed reading at weird angles...or that could just be me.

Rated PG.

This book was downright adorable!

When I think of Rose, the word ballbuster comes to mind. She is a take no s*** type of girl, which I think is perfect for the down-to-earth royal, Anton. I was skeptical about Anton before reading the book. When you hear of someone being a royal, you think of them being contentious, but he was anything but! He was actually really sweet.

I loved how we got to see both perspectives of their dating lives, because you could see the growth in each character. I loved how Leah made it feel like you were at a Packers game (just take out the Packers and add the Green Bay River Foxes)!

This book was super cozy and the ending was just wow.

*Exes Don’t* by Leah Dobrinska is a delightful second-chance romcom filled with humor, heart, and a dash of danger! Rose, a witty undercover security specialist, crosses paths with Anton, her ex and a charming quarterback-prince. Their chemistry is electric, with Anton determined to win her back and Rose grappling with secrets she can’t hide forever. Set against a backdrop of football and espionage, their story is a touchdown of swoony moments, banter, and emotional growth. With lovable characters, a cozy small-town vibe, and just the right amount of suspense, this closed-door romance is a winning read for fans of heartfelt comedies!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5

When the middle sister’s story is the most exciting!

Rose is more than just a bookstore employee, she’s an undercover security agent who just happens to fall in love with her assignment.
Anton Bates is more than just a professional football player, he’s a prince. He is also Rose’s assignment as well as her ex that she is definitely still in love with. Seeing them navigate their relationship, with so many secrets but still getting their HEA.

I love a good second chance romance and this one was the perfect read for Fall.

You will giggle and smile so many times throughout this sweet book!
Rose and Anton are exes that push and pull at each other the whole time, and it makes for some really sweet and humorous scenes! And Rose’s journey of discovering what decisions are best for what she truly wants in life is so touching :)
And let’s talk side characters! Love them! The Kasper sisters and their antics, of course! And Anton’s teammates are the best! So funny and supportive of their struggling teammate!
An awesome must-read to cozy up with!

I admit, it’s a little corny at times (certainly cornier than the first 2), but I really enjoyed this book. It’s sweet, funny, and has a swift pace. I especially loved the interactions between Anton and his teammates, just hilarious!

Highly recommended for anyone who loves a secret agent, sports, forbidden-love, rom-com 🤓

Content:
There’s no foul language, sex, or violence. The are a couple heated kissing scenes, but they are limited to kissing and holding. There are a few references to going to church, but I wouldn’t call the book Christian.

This book was so good! It follows the last Kasper sister as she gets a second chance of love with her royal-football player ex! Anton and Rose are such great characters. Once I started this story, I couldnt put it down!

I was given an ARC for my honest review! But really, go read this ASAP!
