Hat wieder viel Spaß gemacht. Dieser Band war wohl mein liebster, weil er einerseits lustiger, andererseites auch tiefgängiger und ernster war als die ersten beiden Bände. Freue mich auf Band 4 :)

Delightful, as always. Thank you to NetGalley and Webtoon Unscrolled for the free eARC!! I love this series so much and this volume as delightful. The art style is colorful and bright and makes for such a happy tune. The story itself is very light, but the characters still have depth and growth. In this volume in particular, I love the way we really get to see these boys' relationship deepen and see how far they've grown since they first began dating.

I really love this series with my whole chest! There's some really important, amazing discussions that happen throughout this series especially when it pertains to polyamorous relationships. This is probably my favorite volume in the whole series because we get to see a little more backstory of Goth and Prep, and we really get to see all four guys. I feel like we really get to see the characters grow a lot in their relationship in this volume, too. Overall, I don't want to say too much about this volume because it is the third volume. However, you can read the whole series on Webtoons if you're eager to what happens next!
All thoughts, feelings, experiences, and opinions are honest and my own.

Mmmmm yes, serotonin, precisely what I need in my ridiculously persistent reading slump. These comics never fail to make me smile and giggle while I kick my little feet and I love them for it. They're really starting to delve into each of the characters and their lives, I especially loved the exploration into Goth and Prep in this volume, and I love how their relationship is developing. I'm excited to see where their futures together go.

I received this book from Edelweiss/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.
The third volume of the Boyfriends series and this one collects episodes 101-150! Around the time two of them will graduate and when it is time to think about what is next now that they cannot always be together.
I just love how the author is able to blend serious stuff with some silly stuff. How we go from discussing mental health to just have fun sexy times. And I was so happy to see all my boys again (and also the girls from the girlfriend group). I love how we don’t just follow one boy but see them all. We get to see Nerd’s house and his family (and I just had such a laugh how his parents reacted when he told them those weren’t his friends.. they were all his boyfriends), we see stuff from Jock’s POV including him trying to work as a barista and doing his best (just like how his button is trying to do his best to stay alive XD), we see Prep and how tries to figure out what is next for him plus try to be a sugardaddy for his boys (which I loved and I am glad that the author also shows why he is so eager to make them happy this way), and we see Goth trying to figure out things and sleeping a lot. And of course, we see them all together, because our boys are just so happy to be together. I loved that sometimes we would just all see them do stuff together as a group (for instance Nerd making dinner for them after very happy news), but at times they would do things in couples. For instance Nerd and Prep are having a study session, Goth picks up Jock for a date (and instead gets carried away). I love that. I loved that in the previous ones, and I am happy with the boys and how healthy their relationship is. There is zero jealousy between them.
Plus, when one of them needs help the bat signal, sorry, a phone message will go off and all of them gather in one place to be there for that person. Which just made me so emotional and happy.
I also love how good they are at communicating. Too many romance books and graphic novels go for miscommunication and I HATE that. But in this book? They talk things out. They take the time to talk to someone. No matter the time. Like when Prep wasn’t too happy and Goth was streaming? Well, the chat got muted (oh how they wish they had muted the stream, haha) and they went to have a talk. I love that. So much support.
I also love that this comic goes further than just fun college days. Sometimes you have comics in which time just doesn’t seem to go. But in this one you see two of our boys go for graduating, think of what is next, Nerd is also making plans for the next year, we see all the boys figure out how to be together in this next phase and start planning things.
Oh, and I love that we also got to see the girls and how they are doing! I still seriously need a comic featuring our girls! They are also so sweet and wonderful.
I cannot forget the fun backstory of both Preps. I loved that and I guess the rivalry still is strong. XD
Oh, and the art. OMG the art! I just love the style and it always makes me happy. Nerd especially is my favourite, he has some moments that he goes from cute to sexy and the artist does such a good job at those. And I just LOVED those Halloween outfits, eeeeeep! And I cannot wait for the next cover as it is Jock’s turn to be big and hold chibis of his boyfriends~
All in all, I will end it here because I could probably talk more about this book for a while, haha. I would HIGHLY recommend this new volume and also the whole series. Go on read it! You won’t be disappointed.

I love Boyfriends. so, so, so much. It is one of the most wholesome comics if not the most wholesome comic that I have read. The representation is amazing and optimistic and is refreshingly queer. I hope this comic gets more popular because I want more people to feel the joy I got from reading this. Thank you to Netgalley for providing an eARC, it did not affect my rating.

This series is really cute and wholesome with pretty artwork and a host of different LGBT representations that are done mostly well. A little fetishised and over the top at times but it's a gay adult author writing about gay/bi/pan adults so I don't really care?
Only thing is that this does get quite stale at times with how repetitive and samey it is. I wasn't expecting a huge plot or masterpiece but it does feel a little tired. I'm maybe hoping for some more development and depth in future volumes

Okay, I know the review is a little late, buuuuut, I don't know I guess I just really needed time to gather my thoughts and write what I actually thought of it. First of I think my rating would be 3.5, yes, way lower to what I used to give to the books (5 & 4 stars previously) but there was something in this one that just didn't make it for me, and it probably was the fact of how nerd is portrayed, and don't get me wrong, I don't despise him but I feel like he was overly sexualized in this volume, which kinda stressed me out and that's not something very usual (I mean I've read all the twisted series and the first 3 of king of sins). My point is that there was something in this one that the fact that nerd was sexualized that way just, I don't even know how to describe it but I'll put it as, it gave me a bit of the ick and just felt kinda bland, but I mean it was okay overall.

Once more with even -more- feeling!
I really love this series. The art is so cute and colorful and makes me so happy to look at! It really has brightened up all of these rainy days lately. The character designs are so fun. I know I have already gushed about the art of this series, but I will always gush and gush about good art.
One of my favorite things about this series beyond the art is the relationship dynamics. There is nothing that irritates me more than a lack of communication or miscommunication in love/relationship stories, and this series seems to strive to have their characters practice good and healthy communication. They actually talk things out with one another. It might take a bit, but there is never that sense of frustration that comes with the whole trope of "this entire conflict could have been resolved by a two minute conversation." There was also a bit of hurt/comfort which always warms my heart in the best way.
I did accidentally skip a volume because I was so excited to request this one from Netgalley, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this story. I am definitely going to pick up the second volume as soon as I can. There were some characters new to me in this volume that I really liked, who brought extra depth to the story. While I do love the main four and their relationship, it is nice to see them having friends and lives outside of their romantic relationship.
All in all, this is another great edition to the Boyfriends series, and I can't wait for more from this author! Thanks so much to Netgalley and Webtoon Unscrolled for a digital ARC!

While the boys are still silly and sweet and meme-worthy, refrainbow is beginning to add more serious notes to this episodic story as well, from not-so-sunny backstories for Prep and Goth to questions about the future. After all, they can't stay at the pastel bubble of university forever--what's next for this beloved comedic polycule?
While this series is mainly meant for light entertainment and cozy, positive queer vibes, it does also make a point to discuss more serious topics too, such as healthy relationship boundaries, and facing unknowns together. This volume also gets a little risque, showing that the boys are becoming more and more comfortable with each other. The girls, too, continue to outshine the boys with their accomplishments, but remain close friends through everything.
At this point, Boyfriends. is a solid comfort series for me, and I will continue to enjoy every new volume that comes out. Refrainbow has previously stated that he has also done works in other genres, so I will likely add these to my TBR to experience the genre contrast. In the meantime, I'll look forward to Boyfriends., Volume 4!

As the story continues in Volume 3, the boys continue their relationship and consider taking things to the next level: living together. Alongside the developments in their relationship, we get looks into their experiences of the past and plans (or lack thereof) for the future.
Just like the volumes before it, this one continues to be cute, fun, sweet, and of course a little cringe at times (which I say with complete affection for it). That said, this volume does expand on the formula, giving the characters more moments of insecurity and other small conflicts to work through together. It's still very much a low-stakes story, but the increase in depth, small as it is, adds a nice flavor that contrasts and deepens the otherwise sweet and silly focus of the story.
I very much enjoyed the development of the characters in this volume. I think it was a great direction for the story. I definitely recommend this volume for anyone that enjoyed the previous two volumes and anyone who liked them but wanted just a little more than the silly fun they were focused on.
5 stars because it not only continues to be exactly what it's trying to be, but expands upon itself in a way that I enjoy. And all the while the art is still very cute!

As the story continues in Volume 3, the boys continue their relationship and consider taking things to the next level: living together. Alongside the developments in their relationship, we get looks into their experiences of the past and plans (or lack thereof) for the future.
Just like the volumes before it, this one continues to be cute, fun, sweet, and of course a little cringe at times (which I say with complete affection for it). That said, this volume does expand on the formula, giving the characters more moments of insecurity and other small conflicts to work through together. It's still very much a low-stakes story, but the increase in depth, small as it is, adds a nice flavor that contrasts and deepens the otherwise sweet and silly focus of the story.

The most wholesome foursome is back with all new domestic adventures full of complicated feelings they'll have to confront if they wish to succeed in their relationship. This time, their struggles centered around the theme of "what do I bring into this relationship?" and "am I enough?" These anxious feelings crop up in each of them in very different ways--like not wanting to be a burden to the others, feeling like they're taking advantage if they don't do just as much as the others, relying too much on others, and so on. At the core, their insecurities are about self-esteem/self-worth, and I love the gentle way each one learns that a) those intrusive dark thoughts are not reality, and b) that they can rely on each other to remind themselves of this. Supportive boyfriend for the win! Not a page goes by that doesn't make you root for them. Once they figure out something is bothering one of their boyfriends, the jump into action and become excellent listeners and communicators. Which is great since there's a huge step in their relationship--a level up, as Nerd would probably say--towards the end of the volume, that just made me excited for what's to come next.

Overall thoughts
I love the series, but my favorite aspect of it has to be the art. It’s an adorable and expressive chibi art style tinted in vibrant, pastel hues, making it very easy on the eyes. The cast is endearing and the story witfully balances humor, serious moments, character development while also seamlessly integrating meme and popular culture.
Boyfriends has a lot of wit and charm and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a fun, light read with an endearing cast. It’s a wholesome and healthy relationship that I enjoyed reading from cover to cover!

Okay so it should be established that I am always here for another volume of Boyfriends! It’s a little silly but a lot of fun and also just such a joy to read a book that is so undeniably queer. It’s a polyamorous relationship between 4 queer guys (at least one of whom is trans), and the side characters are 4 women in a polyamorous relationship, also with at least one trans character. I also loved how this volume was purely exploring the relationship between all the boyfriends, from seemingly silly stuff like figuring out a four-way kiss, to moving in with each other. I had such a fun time reading and it’s always so easy to re-immerse myself in their world and enjoy it! I’m also super excited to see what happens in the next volume when all the boyfriends are living together and moving past college!
Also, if it wasn’t already clear, I highly recommend checking out the series and catching up to some great stories!

This is like my favourite manga/web comic - I guess other than Lore Olympus and the DC Webtoons.
But this one has a special place in my heart because of all the pastels and the just absolutely adorable boys!
What I love about Boyfriends and Webtoons is that there isn't any BS or filler, or if there is filler there is so little of it.
I'm reading Spy x Family and like NOTHING IS HAPPENING in regards to the main storyline.
But Boyfriends is CONSTANTLY progressing - obviously that puts pressure on the artist/writer but it's just so good! So consistent!
With Goth and Prep graduating the boys need to figure out their futures in order to continue being together and I just ABSOLUTELY JUST LOVE IT! (Don't care if books are unrealistic - reality is realistic enough for me and sometimes you just want something absolutely adorable and lovely that just gives you warm fuzzies and happy feels).
Can't wait for Book 4 in 2025~

The boys are all grown up! With prep and goth graduating college, the four boyfriends decide to move in together! This book focuses on their transition to being a polycule outside of college in a way that is incredibly cute, fun and a little sexy too!
I love when books talk about the uncertainty of growing up. Goth’s struggle with wondering what to do after college felt incredibly real and the support the others’ gave him was beautiful. The trans representation was incredible, as always and the author also did a great job showing effective communication in a relationship! It’s so nice to have a book that is so unabashedly queer!
