This is a review of the anime TV adaptation.
Satoru has the ability to go back in time, moments before a life-threatening incident occurs. Mostly, this happens outside his control, and he is only taken back a few minutes into the past. But when his mother is murdered, he is transported eighteen entire years back into his elementary school years. He concludes that the kidnappings and murders of three of his childhood friends are somehow related to his mother's murder in the future, and that in order to prevent her murder, he must also save his friends.
This turned out more murder-mystery than sci-fi/time-travel, and I loved that. Yeah, so the identity of the child abductor/murderer was obvious from pretty much the exact moment the character was introduced, but that didn't take away any of the fun. The story was always about how Satoru would discover the identity of the kidnapper, and how he would prevent the kidnappings/murders from occurring at all.
He fails several times, waking up again in the future, only to see that things haven't changed, and managing to control his ability enough to take him back again to the past. With each return, he remembers new things, he learns new things, and he's another step closer to his goal.
I know I said the identity of the kidnapper was obvious, but let me tell you, the conclusion and their "face-off" at the end was far from predictable. I guess the only reason why I'm dropping a star from an otherwise 5-star series is because I've got mixed feelings about the final climax, which occurs years in the future . . . and I've got mixed feelings about what happened to Satoru in the space between; although yes--he already foreshadowed in the very beginning, that whenever he "revives" and saves a life, something always turns out bad for him in return.

This manga was excellent. To be honest, it was the most thrilling thing I've read in a long while outside my own work. I'm glad my sister picked it up for me. She knew I was having a dry spell. Definitely recommend!

Review of the TV anime series
Erased: The Town Without Me / Boku dake ga Inai Machi
Whenever something is about to go horrendously wrong, Satoru--whether the likes to or not--will be transported in time in order to prevent it. It all largely goes well, until one day his mother discovers the key to a series of child murders that occurred back during Satoru's childhood, and she is ultimately killed by the child-abductor.
Satoru, pinned for his mother's brutal murder, manages to control his abilities enough to transport him all the way back to his primary school years. Not only does he now have the chance to save his mother, he also has the chance to save three kids from being abducted and killed.
Spoiler: He fails a lot of times. The villain is quite predictable from the beginning, but it did not make me enjoy the anime any less. Don't let the age of the characters fool you into thinking this will be light-hearted, fluffy fun. They may be primary-school-aged kids, but the tone and theme of this series is far more mature than you'd expected of pre-teens.
Artwork is lovely, the music hits the spot and really digs into your emotions. This was one heck of a series; definitely something for you if you like your books/films focused on aspects of mystery and slice-of-life, with only the slightest dash of fantasy.

OMG!!!!! I literally don't even know where to start with this manga!!!!
I was SO invested in this towards the end of Volume one!! I am so happy there are 6 more to go!!
This is AMAZING and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good manga series.
The artwork is gorgeous.
The characters take a bit of getting used to
The plot starts slow but builds and by the end of the first volume comes together fantastically

Seré muy claro, el dibujo esta feito pero el argumento me dejo super enganchado.
Este manga fue una sorpresa, ya lo había intentado leer varias veces y no pasaba del capítulo 02 porque la neta el dibujo no me inspiraba a seguir, y aparte, como que no entendía ese poder del "revival" del protagonista. A partir del capítulo 03 las cosas cambian, el argumento se hace muy interesante y en cada capítulo hay giros que aportan a la trama y atrapan. Otra cosa que me gustó es que en tan solo un tomo los personajes crecen y al final se convierten en algo muy distinto de lo que eran al principio. Muy buen principio de la historia.

Muy bueno! Empecé a ver el anime la semana pasada y me gustó mucho y quedé tan intrigada que tuve que empezar a leer el manga jaja. Hasta ahora el anime se parece a lo que he leído en este primer tomo :). Me gustaaaa!

The story looked bland at the beginning and I wasn't sold on the art, but then everything picked up. I enjoyed the fact the story involved some scifi and mystery elements and I'm curious to discover more about the current and past events.

Boku Dake ga Inai Mach, Erased or The Town Where Only I am Missing written and illustrated by Kei Sanbe, is a currently publishing manga series that had begun in 2012, serialized by the magazine Young Ace. Young Ace is known for other popular mangas such as Summer Wars and Blood Lad. Erased currently has an animated show, produced by Aniplex (which is famous for many popular shows, like Fullmetal Alchemist and Natsume’s Book of Friends) and made under A1-Pictures, a studio that has worked on very well known animated shows, like Black Butler and Fairy Tail. The animated adaptation is still airing and is the highest rated anime of the season. The comic, which is what I will be reviewing, NOT the animated show, has an incredible average rating of 8.78 on MyAnimeList.net, the biggest Japanese animation and comic online database, and a spectacular rating of 4.36 on GoodReads.
The protagonist of Erased, Satoru Fujinuma, is a seemingly normal 29-year old who works a part time job at a delivery service while making comics on the side and trying to reach his dreams of becoming a famous comic author. However, Satoru has a supernatural ability. He has the ability to turn back time and prevent catastrophes from happening. However, he is not able to use it by choice. He is forced back in time, at random moments, to do “re-runs”, often a few minutes before the event, where he must find the cause of the disaster before it happens.
One day, Satoru finds himself tangled up in a terrible ‘accident’, and is framed for murder. Suddenly, he is sent all the way back in time to February 1988, 18 years ago, when he was in elementary, a month before the disappearance of his classmate, Kayo Hinadzuki, who, in the present, had gone missing in the March of 1988, and was found murdered in the woods after the winter snow had melted. Her case was never solved.
Satoru soon learns that preventing Kayo’s murder from happening may change his sticky situation in the present and does everything in his power to help, but he also learns that in this world, you can’t trust anyone.
When it comes to reading comics, I’m often times very picky about art, and I most likely would not have picked this book up if the storyline did not seem interesting. The art, though it may seem average when you first see it, gains charm the more the reader looks at it, adding to the personality of the characters. All of the characters are very charming, unique and mysterious.
When I first read Erased, I instantly fell in love with the bravery and courage of Satoru Fujinuma, the calmness of the levelheaded Kayo Hinadzuki, the dedication and determination of Sachiko Fujinuma, and the mysterious air and cleverness of Kenya Kobayashi. The suspense of Erased keeps readers at the edge of their seat and the charming characters can make anyone smile or cry.
Erased is a beautifully executed and suspenseful must-read for all that love mystery, murder, and time travel.

Es mas profundo que el anime, por alguna razón no lo pensé pero suele ser como con las novelas: para hacer una película compactan todo lo que es posible y en ocasiones le quitan complejidad a la historia.
Una pequeña comparativa entre el anime y el manga es que en este último se aprecia de mejor manera la relación entre Satoru y Airi además que se muestra un poco más de sus "Revival". En varios comentarios esta la teoría de que cada vez que usa esa habilidad tiene que perder algo o tener alguna consecuencia y me parece acertado el poner como recordatorio de sus valores a su superhéroe favorito de la infancia (se me olvido como les llaman, son como los Power Rangers).

Es el primer manga que leo, y en la primera mitad de este me confundía todo el tiempo y leía todo al revés JAJAJAJA. Aún así, es fácil de entenderlo. Me gusto bastante, me atrapó, y te deja con ganas de más. Lo recomiendo, aunque, repito, es el primero que leo. Me lo leí en menos de una hora, es suuuuper ligero.

Hice realmente bien en no ver el anime antes de leer el manga.
La trama es demasiado interesante, y está llena de giros inesperados si es que no conocen la historia.

El primer capitulo fue algo lento, pero los demás me dejaron completamente viciada. Seguiré con los demás, lamentablemente sólo hay 20 capítulos publicados de este manga.
Me he enterado también que la versión anime se estrena (o estrenó, no estoy segura) para esta temporada.

AAA por ahora sigue bastante parecido al anime. Las cosas que cambiaron estan buenaspero no eran muy relevantes como para quejarme de que no aparecieron en el anime. En fin es una historia que me encanta y atrapa mucho y estoy feliz de volverla a ver (๑•ᴗ•๑)♡

La historia parte de menos a más, los recuerdos van volviendo como consecuencia de un accidente y la visita de su mamá. Al final, ocurre una grab tragedia que obliga a que todo parta desde el principio.

Bought this manga on july 2014 and I finally read it ! I can't wait to watch the anime now.
I'm not a huge fan of this author's other series so I'm actually pleasantly surprised by this !

Tras haber leído el manga completo hace ya unos años, esperaba retomarlo con miedo. Lo que me gustaba en 2017/2018 puede que ahora perdiese su punto. En cierto modo, así ha sido, pero en menor medida de lo que pensaba.
La primera sorpresa que me he llevado, esta vez con conocimiento previo, es el autor que hay detrás de esta serie. Sanbe es un mangaka que tiende al fanservice. No hablo solo de sus obras como Keisuke Kawara (tipo Nanako), sino directamente de Kamiyadori o Hôzuki Island: aun sin ser de género ecchi, presentan una sexualización de los personajes femeninos que aportan poco o nada a la trama. En mi opinión, ese es el mayor problema de muchas obras provenientes del manganime y, para mi sorpresa, Desaparecido no tiene ni una sola de estas escenas. Es más, la trama gira en torno a secuestros de niñas, de modo que la sexualidad juega un papel importante en la narrativa de manera condenable.
Por supuesto, nada de esto es un punto extra para la obra en cuestión; tan solo un (triste) avance del medio. Así que, más allá de esta nota al pie, el primer tomo de Desaparecido es un inicio muy arriesgado. Durante los primeros cuatro capítulos, no hay un objetivo ni trama concretos. A pesar de ello, Sanbe logra que la lectura resulte entretenida, fresca y, sobre todo, compleja en su tratamiento de los personajes. Quizá Satoru no sea especialmente interesante de seguir en sus diatribas modo "odio el mundo", pero sí está perfectamente caracterizado y presenta un genial contraste entre su forma de pensar y sus acciones relativamente heroicas. Es un personaje que, gracias a su inusual poder, puede mostrar una faceta más de su personalidad mientras se odia por ello.
La historia también se cuece a fuego lento perfilando a sus personajes. Hasta el ultimísimo capítulo, no hay un avance real en el argumento porque Sanbe parece más preocupado en que comprendamos las relaciones entre todo el elenco para que los puntos esenciales de la trama tengan un colofón importante. En ese sentido, lo logra. El capítulo final no es realmente emocional, pero sí justifica las reacciones de sus personajes. Incluso ese mind-hopping un poco extraño entre Satoru y su madre tiene un propósito narrativo real y muestra mayor profundidad en la segunda. Sanbe domina las bases del thriller y, la verdad, he acabado muy interesado en saber cómo continúa a pesar de saberlo de antemano.
También me ha sorprendido el trazo de Sanbe. No todo el mundo puede ser Asano, Miura o Inoue, pero el autor suple esa diferencia con un dominio del paneling espectacular. Escenas como Satoru reaccionando al incidente de su madre o el uso de las páginas dobles son de aplaudir, y es bastante interesante ver cómo Sanbe mezcla narración en imágenes y bastante texto sin que ninguna de las dos partes se resienta. Todo fluye con bastante naturalidad.
Un buen comienzo. Quizá no uno espectacular, pero sí uno que sienta las bases de su argumento sin olvidarse ni de sus personajes ni de la emoción de cada escena.

"Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi" atau "Erased" adalah salah satu manga suspense thriller yg bikin saya hangover sebulan lebih. Baca sekitar taun 2014 kalau ga salah, atas rekomendasi teman.
Saya bersyukur sekali akhirnya diterbitkan Level Comics dari @elexmedia.
Seperti yg saya sering bilang, kalo suka banget sama komiknya saya selalu beli cetakan fisiknya karena sering baca ulang.
Fyi saking sukanya sama Erased ini, saya udah re-read manga scanlationnya 2x, nonton serial anime 2016, live action movie 2016, dan serial @netflix 2017 nya!! Gila kan?! Sesuka itu saya sama manga karya Kei Sanbe ini. Dan semua endingnya beda-beda dong! Tapi keren semua! Tetap di jalur utama cerita! 😤😤😤🔥🔥🔥 .

Satoru Fujinuma adalah seorang lelaki yang berusaha menjadi mangaka tapi belum juga mendapatkan kesempatan untuk menerbitkan karyanya. Sembari kerja sambilan menjadi pengantar pizza, sesungguhnya Satoru memiliki kemampuan "Revival" yang dapat mengembalikannya ke beberapa saat sebelum terjadinya suatu musibah, sehingga dia mendapatkan kesempatan untuk mencegahnya.

Un premier tome plutôt pas mal mais qui tarde à démarrer. Mais c'est aussi normal vu que l'intrigue se met en place.
Satoru est un personnage intriguant. Il peut revenir quelques instants dans le passé afin d'éviter qu'une catastrophe arrive. Mais il ne contrôle pas ce don. Il ne peut pas choisir à quel point il peut revenir dans le passé. De plus, il ne sait pas non plus quelle catastrophe est sur le point de se produire. Donc il revient souvent en arrière afin d'analyser la situation.
On découvre aussi qu'il a oublié une partie de ses souvenirs d'enfance, et qu'il essaie de comprendre pourquoi il ne s'en souvient pas. Finalement, on comprend qu'il a été touché d'assez près par une affaire d'enlèvement et de meurtre de certains de ses camarades.
J'ai beaucoup aimé l'ambiance. C'est assez lourd et j'avais envie de comprendre ce qu'il se passait dans la tête de Satoru. J'ai vraiment trouvé son passé intéressant et vu ce qu'il en dit, cette affaire de meurtres est loin d'être classée.
J'ai aussi apprécié les personnages de la mère de Satoru et d'Airi. La mère de Satoru (je sais plus si son prénom apparaît) semble en savoir plus que ce qu'elle veut bien montrer. Quant à Airi, elle semble attachée à Satoru, malgré leur différence d'âge, elle le respecte beaucoup et je pense qu'elle peut devenir une bonne amie pour lui.
C'est un premier tome vraiment intéressant. L'ambiance est assez lourde car le passé de Satoru, qui n'est pas doux. Je pense que la suite va me plaire et j'ai hâte de savoir ce qu'il s'est réellement passé.
