Kitchen Living: Contemporary Ideas for the Heart of the Home

Rate this book
As society has evolved, so has the kitchen, and today, it is very much the center of the home. In the true sense of the term, it has become the home’s “living room”—the place where we eat and drink, talk, work, read, gossip on the phone, and entertain friends. Kitchen Living takes a fresh look at the heart of the home, infusing it with innovative ideas for storage, decoration, furniture, table settings, and more. Whether your style is Tuscan Farmhouse or Laboratory Chic, Elizabeth Hilliard provides you with a wealth of practical and aesthetic choices for color, lighting, and flooring. With more than 150 stylish color photos, this is an outstanding guide to enhancing the way we live—in the kitchen. Elizabeth Hilliard is an award-winning design writer; among her many books are Country Style, Finishing Touches, Brilliant Color at Home, The Big Book of Natural Color, The Tile Book, Perfect Order, Decorating with Tribal Rugs, and Chandeliers.

2 stars. The kitchen as the heart of the home is a much more sensible basis for design than the old fashioned separate dining and living spaces. I already thought so, and that's about all I got out of the book.
