THE LADY Born into privilege, Maude Romney's life should have been a carefree one. But as the time to claim her inheritance neared, the high-spirited heiress found herself at the mercy of her scheming aunt and rapacious cousin. And when Maude realized her relations would stop at nothing to secure her fortune, she knew she would have to flee to save her life!
THE LORD When Edward, Earl of Radford, met the winsome tomboy in a midnight encounter, his only thought was to see the intriguing vagabond to safety. But under Maude's dirt-smudged face was an enchanting sprite who ignited his passion like no other woman ever had. Yet once he learned of her impoverished nobility and tainted past, unsettling doubts plagued him. Was Maude truly in danger -- or had she cleverly used her innocence to force him into marriage?
Corey McFadden devoutly wishes she had been born in England in the 18th century. Stuck here in the 21st, however, she makes the best of it by spending as much time as she can writing about the manners and morals of pre-Regency, Georgian England. Corey lives in Northern Virginia with her husband, two children and a very demanding cat.
This book was okay. Don’t have much to say about it the story line could have developed some more it had the opportunity to be amusing but I think the author was trying to rush the ending.
