The Precious Trilogy #1

The Precious Ruby

Rate this book
I’ve experienced more pain and torment than most do in a lifetime. My scars run deep, and even though my wounds are healed, the agony remains.

Courage doesn’t come cheap, but I can no longer live a life in chains, filled with nothing but abuse and heartache.

So…I run and manage to start a new life—a new beginning. That’s when I meet Alex, a rich playboy and notorious womanizer.

The way his eyes burn with desire when he stares at me is disarming. Whenever he’s around me I feel it, the electric pulse of attraction that draws us closer, not caring about consequences.

But I see the way he looks at me, like he knows me. He doesn’t.

No one does. Not even me.

DNF The sample was enough. The tense is all over the place making this near impossible to read.

Basic grammar errors, for example. Then, instead of than.

"His height isn't as tall as Rover's but he is shorter then Matt..."

If you're using celebrity names at least spell them correctly. Elves Presley? Marylyn Monroe?
No excuse.

This debut novel was a great start to a career in writing. The passion that's poured out through the words and pages in this book clearly shows how passionate the Author is. With every debut it's a risky start because the readers have never heard of you so you are basically terrified to put your words out there but I am so glad C Renee did and can't wait to watch the story as well her, the author, grow in the future.

The Precious Ruby is sorta like your typical rich boy meets average girl romance but this has a little of a twist to it and that's what captured me in the end with this book. The plot was done creatively and definitely held my attention through out the book. I fell in love with Louise's character because she is a strong willed woman who shows strength in numbers throughout this story. Her past has brought nothing but heartache to her life and now that she has found a happy future it comes back with a vengeance only to try to ruin what she has built. Alex and Louise both are tested throughout and the strength Louise has with the protectiveness Alex portrays will have your heart stopping at this love story with a twist.

Alex has a love for helping others so he works as a paramedic on the side with his best friend and it's not until an accident involving Louise that Alex notices her for the first time and simply can't stay away. The pull they have right from the start has Alex's heart stopping in his chest every time he is around her. They find themselves meeting once again on later and Alex decides right then he wants something with her. He just never knew how much her past could haunt their new lives they work so hard to build with each other. But this doesn't stop neither one of them but it's only the beginning of the trials and tests they both will face.

I can't wait to read part two "The Precious Topaz." The Precious Ruby is highly recommended to all readers who love a steamy romance with a suspense twist. Will definitely keep you asking "What's next?? " But there are a few surprises that C Renee writes that you definitely don't see coming.

**arc received for honest review**

** Reviewed by Mel from Bloggers From Down Under**

This review is really hard to write as it is the authors 1st book and we hate writing bad reviews but we will always remain true to our blog and give our honest opinion and it is just that our opinion.

Lou is from an abusive relationship or has been in one for the past 3 years her boyfriend Matt is the president of a biker club after he was forced to kill his father and take over.

Lou escapes after she was ran off the road and had a server car accident.

After phoning a friend when she was released she tried a fresh start and met Alex and was intently attracted to each other. And we will leave it at that for you to read to know the rest.

We found a few things difficult with this book which would have been a good book.

The story line shows promise but lack emotion. We couldn't feel the emotion with Lou we couldn't feel what she was going through and there wasn't much description of her emotions either, and coming from an abusive relationship she would have a shit load of emotion but it just didn't take us there i think the author may need to be more descriptive with that part of her writing.

The timeline of the book is a bit out of wack and a bit far stretched, example she had been with her friend for a few days and her curves were practically back and she was a lot better.... After an abusive relationship you wouldn't be feeling great after a few days.

The last point we will make is some of the sentences were spoken in past tense and then present all in the same paragraph which was really distracting through the whole book.

Well done to the author for putting her book out there this book just wasn't for us!

Let me start by saying this is a debut novel. The Precious Ruby has a great storyline but was really slow in some parts of the book. But very much worth reading.

Louise has been through a lot putting up with her abusive cheating MC boyfriend Matt. She finally finds the courage to escape him. Her first call is to her parents but their numbers are not in service. Her best friend that she lost contact with because of Matt is her saving grace. With Steph’s help she manages to get her life back. But can Matt leave her to live her life without her always having to look over her shoulder?
Will Louise get her HEA?

This book will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions.

This story will make you think about life!

Being this authors first novel, i thought it was an awesome job! The story is of a girl that has to fight for everything, for survival. I didn't think the story would end the way it did. I highly recommend this book!

I went in blind with this book and it's the first book by C Renee and for a debut it was a really great story and I was very surprised how hooked into the book I got from the start.

What a great start to a trilogy it really set the tone, and really built up the characters storylines and got in to the heart of the story.

I really liked Louise, for what she was going through and went through she was one tough cookie and did things that she thought was best for everyone else and not herself which really put her in danger. I loved how she was so strong and just didn't take anything for granted.

Alex took a while to like I am not sure if I liked him in this book but I don't mind that because there is nothing better than a character redeeming himself and I really liked seeing this. To find out Alex's past was really emotional and loved learning about that.

What a great story full of suspense, wonderful characters, great story line. If you like these kinds of books then you have to give this trilogy a go. I usually don't go straight into the next book but with this series I had to.

I received this book FREE from C. Renee in a giveaway. It was really tough me me to get into this book. I picked it up and put it down maybe 10 times within the first 4 chapters. During the last attempt I sat down in a quite area and told myself that if I could not get to chapter 6 without putting it back down then I wasn't likely to finish it. Then I got hooked. Maybe due to personal reasons I felt overwhelmed by the book or maybe I was just not into that portion since some areas of the book are graphic and hard to read in an unsettling way. Once I got past that though and saw the story line I couldn't put it down. I finished this book that day and went on to the second. Give this book a chance and give yourself time to read. It should not be rushed.

A friend recommended me to this author and series and going off of her recommendation I was happy to read. BUT I find myself torn. On the one hand I really can see the potential, the plot is a good one, there are all the elements for a fantastic story, however, things to me read hiddledy piggledy and I found myself tiring at the same time. On the other hand I find myself wanting to read more to find out where the story is leading.

I can see, literally see, where the author is going with this story but there was just something I couldn't grasp. I don't know what it was but I find myself uncomfortable, I know the story is supposed to be a gripping one but I just couldn't connect. I needed to feel involved in the story and I didn't BUT I didn't hate it either.

The main female character, I just could not take to and I really wanted to connect with her, I mean she's the main stay of the story well her and Alex, I just found myself wanting more of that oomph factor.

I'm definitely going to stick to the story and read the next one. I have this need to find out whats going to happen and goddamn it I want to fall in love with the characters.

This book will take you on an emotional journey. Louise has had a tough life. Her relationship with Matt is extremely toxic. Matt is an abusive cheater and also in an MC. One day she finally has enough courage to run. She tries to reach out to her parents and sadly the number is no longer in service. She reaches out to Steph who is her best friend prior to her relationship with Matt. Louise starts to get her life back on track but she always has that constant worry that Matt is going to come back into her life and not her back down again.

This story we have Louise and Alex with some Matt mixed in. I really enjoyed reading this book and found that it hooked me in right at the beginning. I feel like Louise is a character I could totally relate to. I feel like her character did a really good job of portraying what an average woman in her situation window film in a transformation that she made. The only reason I gave this book a four-star is because I felt like some of the parts were a bit drawn out and I'm not a huge fan of cliffhanger endings. I can say the Cliffhanger ending has definitely left me wanting more.

Holy heck.

This was one heck of a roller coaster ride, and I'm not even sure where to begin!

I went into THE PRECIOUS RUBY only knowing what the synopsis says, and knowing that this was C. Renee's debut novel. The low down of this novel is that main character, Louise, is the girlfriend of an MC Lord. She's had a rough life from his physical attacks, and loveless relationship to bossing her about with his buddies around. When Louise gets the chance to escape from Matt, she takes it, and runs with it. Contacting an old friend - one that Matt did not allow her to speak to - leads Louise to the perfect escape route, and so much more. Life is finally to the point that Louise doesn't have to always look over her shoulder, or will she for the rest of her life?

A highly suspenseful novel, THE PRECIOUS RUBY will leave you wanting more of what happens. The things stopping me from giving it a full five stars was the fact that the emotions seemed to be lacking. While Louise expressed a lot of trauma in her life in a short amount of time, I felt that she definitely could have been a little more hmmm emotional with things? I just felt that she brushed off a lot of stuff, instead of really being more emotional over it. Other than that, the story line was interesting, the characters were developed, and while the ending will have you staring at your Kindle with eyes wide, and mouth open, it was a suspenseful read, and will keep readers interested throughout the novel.

Great Reading

I really liked this book. This does end with a cliffhanger, but it is so good you will want to know what happens next. Louise (Lou) met Matt while out one night with the girls. It was a whirlwind romance. Matt changed when he inherited the presidency of the Bloody Eagles MC club when his dad died. After things got really bad Lou escapes. There are so many twists and turns it keeps you on the edge of your seat.

This was the first motorcycle club book that I've read and let me say that at first I was worried about how I was going to like it. I've never been into violence in books and I've never been one to want to read about MC gangs. To be 100% honest. But once I started reading The Precious Ruby it became very hard for me to put down. From all the twists and turns that were happening in Louise's life, I loved how things were evolving. This is the author's debut novel and for a debut I have to say that it was surprisingly good. There were tidbits of things that need to be worked on, such as typos (but that was due to her previous editor, which whom she is not working with anymore) and some of it seemed to move too fast. I loved how Lou happened to try and get over her abusive ex-boyfriend Matt, but I personally felt as though she got her life together too quickly... After three years of abuse I thought it would take longer than about a week for her to get back on her feet. More nightmares more fear, that kind of stuff.

Louise, I adored her character she was different and spunky and you could tell that she had a lot to offer. How a woman like her ended up with a bastard like Matt I have no idea, although I read the backstory of their love and what not, I still can't believe it. She is way too good for him. Although I have to say that she can be a little dense sometimes, I love that she wanted a new life, I love that she worked hard and got herself up on her feet and I was proud of that. But what I mean by dense is that she made the choice to go back, she made the wrong choice. There were lots of things that I was unsure of why she was doing such things, why she was going out - why she felt the need to go back when she could've ran with Jax. There were a lot of things that I wondered throughout the book. But Louise is a kind character and although I have never been in those types of situations she was easy to connect with - which is a huge thing for me when it comes to reading a book. I need to find a character that I can connect with. I felt for her - I wanted to cry when she was in pain, she was one of the characters that you could build a relationship with - in some aspect because I have had friends in similar situations.

Matt - now onto the bastard that I cannot stand. I feel as though his character was written well - he was the president of a biker gang and obviously he has to be a hardass but sometimes he just pushed it too far, which I'm sure that men in those situations can. He just seemed ever so bi-polar and that she wasn't sure what he wanted. If he didn't want Lou anymore then why keep her around? If he wanted other women why was it the end of the world that she was talking to someone else? I just don't understand him, and you do get the backstory on why Matt turned from sweet caring guy to an asshole but it's like, "did a switch just flip?" because personally I want to know more. I want to know how his brain was thinking what he thought he was doing, how he possibly thought that it was okay to do those things? Regardless of his status with the MC (Bloody Eagles) if he truly ever loved Lou, why not just let her go?

Alex, the handsome and sweet mystery man with the green eyes. He sounds delicious, he is caring and he's just such a wonderful person. I don't have much to say about Alex, although I got to read his point of view throughout the book I just think that he's the right choice for Louise. I think that Alex is a kind heart - and although he's a manwhore, you can tell once he admits his feelings for Lou that he's going to try his best to change that. Especially, knowing that she doesn't deserve everything after what she had been through.

This was one of those books that makes you so thankful that the main characters of Louise and Alex have best friends like Steph and Reece. I feel as though both of them complete the other, Steph is the best friend that Louise needs. She is confident and a little cocky in the best possible way which is exactly what Louise needs to help her especially after leaving Matt in the beginning of the book. As for Reece and Alex, they are wonderful together as best friends just because you can tell they have one of those friendships that is totally a bromance, and it's adorable how much they can depend on each other and count on each other.

Overall this book was fabulous a four star rating from me. It had it's moments that I wondered what C was doing, and why she was taking the book in the direction that she was taking it - but everything happened for a reason and now I sit here and anxiously away for the second book to release hopefully soon...

Wow! What a journey C Renee has put me on reading her debut novel ‘The Precious Ruby’.
This is my first book in this MC genre and certainly won’t be the last. The story had a very creative plot with lots of twists and turns. An emotional rollercoaster that will shock and pull at the heart strings all in one!

This was a good book and full of action. Louise has been in an abusive relationship for years with a Bike Gang leader. She escapes and starts to try to lead a normal life again, gets a good job and meets Alex. She isn't sure she's ready to date again, but then things go bad for Louise.
I felt it was a little unbelievable the connection that Alex and Louise talk about with each other after only spending half a date together. But other than that I enjoyed the action and drama in the book and will read the next one to see what happens!

Badass biker that starts as sweet as hell! Time changes him & his relationship with Lou. Not the typical book where the hottie biker is all seduction & love towards his leading lady. You'll learn her past that's ugly and awful with her MC hottie & you'll wish he were 6 feet under. Great debut novel & can't wait for the next part!
Minor issues with grammar etc, but not enough to really cause as issue with the storyline.

This debut novel for Ms. Renee was gifted to me and I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is not your typical romance novel which I'm fine with; I enjoy stories that have twists, drama, and real life issues. At first this was hard for me to read since I myself was once in an abusive relationship. I could relate with Louse.

There were errors but not many and it didn't take away from the story. This read will take you on an emotional rollercoaster as Louise moves from her abusive relationship with her pos MC boyfriend. It's well-written, tense and worth reading. I can't wait to read the second book and find out if Louise gets her HEA.

Debut Novel status! I am giving The Precious Ruby a solid 4 stars. Overall I love this story. It’s unique and different that a lot that I have read. The main character has made certain choices in her life that may not have been the wisest and that has left her in a serious situation. Her life is a major cross road on what she should do because of these choices. I thoroughly enjoyed going along with her for the ride. At times I felt that the story seemed to take a while to get to a certain point, however after finishing it I realized how important it was for this author to take her time in explaining certain plot points and I appreciate that she did not rush it along. After reading as many books as I have it become easy for me to pick out a potential ending, which I thought I had pegged for this book. However Chole Renee truly surprised me with her twists and turns. A pleasant surprise for sure!
I knocked this story down one star mainly there were a few parts of the story and how the characters responded that wasn’t my favorite, this however did not deter me from liking the book as a whole and I also acknowledge that these issues are most likely personal preferences. I was not fond of how The main character Louise was so ready to date and slightly boy crazy after all she had been though, though I can see this was a way for the character to continue on with her life. Again personal preferences.
I am very excited to see what Chloe Renee will bring with the rest of this series and for what she has planned for future novels. This is an author I will be keeping an eye on and I seriously recommend that you as well give her a chance. I don’t think you will regret it!

I normally don't read this type of book, because I'm not a fan of abuse, but once I realized that she was trying to get out of the relationship, I started rooting for Louise. Seemed like nothing she did was right, in her boyfriend's (Matt) eyes. So, when she had the chance, she left.

Thinking that she was safely getting away, she tried to catch her breath, and she's in a very serious accident. She comes to, finally, and is told what happened. After being released from the hospital, she reconnects with her best friend; that her abusive boyfriend wouldn't allow her to see.

Lou tries to get back on her feet, because she doesn't want to have to rely on others. Her best friend helps her get a job, which lands a chance meeting with a very sexy man, where he wins a date with Louise. Upon said date, Lou realizes she's not ready for dating yet, so she tries to step away.

Alex won a date with Lou, and is puzzled when she abruptly ends it, but he's drawn to her anyway. He thinks about Lou all the time. When Lou's best friend tells Alex that Lou's missing, and that she thinks Lou went back to Matt, the adventure begins.

What happens with Lou? Does Matt pay for what he's done to Lou? Do Alex and Lou ever get together? So many questions to be answered. Can't wait for the next book, of the trilogy.

Debut novel from C Renee and I loved every moment of it.

Matt wasn’t always a jerk, but he slowly changed. Louise, tired of being in the abusive relationship makes her escape one night and Matt runs her off the road. Moments before she goes unconscious, she sees a pair of eyes that she won't forget. Louise wakes disoriented in the hospital with no where to go. She calls Stephanie, her best friend who she hasn't seen or spoken to in quite some time. Stephanie takes her in to help her heal and get her life back on track.
Alex, not lacking for female companion, sees Louise and can't get her off his mind. He is not the type to ask for more than one night, but can't seem to get her off his mind. What happens when they meet? Will Alex pursue a relationship with Louise or will she shut him down? Will Matt and his crew find Louise?

I really enjoyed watching the characters and the story develop. C Renee did a beautiful job of keeping me on my toes. My interest was captured from the very beginning and I could not wait to see where this book would go. This book is told from dual POV. I can't wait to read the second book in this series.

I hated the ending. Absolutely hated it because now I'm going to have to buy the second book and its probably going to end with a cliffhanger ending too damn it. Excluding the ending, it was a great book and I truly can't wait to read more of this series and the author.

25 year old Louise has had a rough life. She decides it's time to leave her cheating abusive boyfriend. After escaping she ends up in a car accident then calls a friend from her past for help. That's when she meets Alex and was instantly attracted to him. This was a good book full of suspense, action heartbreak and love. This is C. Renee's debut novel and it was pretty good. There were twists and turns that left me wanting to read more and it didn't help that this book ends in a cliffhanger. I'm ready to read the next book in this series, The Precious Topaz. I voluntarily reviewed a complementary copy of this book through Quill and Ink.

The Precious Ruby by C. Renee I found to be quick and enjoyable read. This book is part one of trilogy and ends in a huge cliff hanger. The book has violence and BDSM content. I would have enjoyed this book more if it had been a complete story and not a cliffhanger. I would have read the next book without the cliffhanger. I really enjoyed the main characters Alex and Lou. The book centers on Lou leaving a bad relationship and it was enjoyable to watch her grow and find herself.
