Wild magic. Forbidden love. Secret identities. A character with a secret so big that it changes everything.
Anxiety. That's what's holding Nalania back from learning enough about magic to save her little sister from the king. That, and she doesn't know what the hell she's doing.
She wants to be a witch—with her whole being—but then the new king interferes. He hates witches and warlocks but hates the lowborn of his kingdom even more. So, he finds the perfect solution to his dirty little lowborn problem: he decrees a curfew for them. He wants them to stay at the very bottom of the social ladder.
And as for the witches and warlocks? He punishes them with every inch of the law.
Nalania's first reaction to the decree is to scream.
Her second reaction is to defy it.
Of course.
By defying the king, she'd not only be sticking it to him, but she could secure a valuable pearl so her family could stop living in squalor. And then she can focus on becoming a proper witch.
So she ventures into the heart of Cloverbottom, dragging her little sister along with her.
They have a split second to make a life-altering decision: die, or murder half of the king’s coven in self-defense while trying to get away—by using their family's own brand of wild, ancestral magic.
But do they really have a choice? They have to go on the offensive.
Now Nalania is living with unbearable guilt for putting her sister in this position. She's sure of it: the king will find out.
Can she learn enough magic to save her little sister before it's too late?
*Prismatic: The Nonesuch*, is a captivating young adult fantasy that has clearly been a labor of love for over a decade. This richly woven tale immerses readers in a historical fantasy world brimming with romance, magic, and the complexities of discrimination.
At the heart of the story is Nalania, a strong character who navigates the treacherous waters of societal prejudice as her family is branded as lowborn drifters and worse. The stigma against witches and warlocks mirrors the struggles of her kind, adding depth to the narrative. Nalania’s determination to fight against this discrimination drives the plot forward and offers a powerful message about standing up for oneself and one’s community.
The character dynamics, particularly the bond between Nalania and her sister Aurora, who is a gifted healer, are beautifully portrayed. Their relationship, filled with love and loyalty despite not being related by blood, adds an emotional layer to the story.
Clarke's writing is detailed and immersive, allowing readers to fully engage with the magical elements of spellcasting, potion-making, and ritualistic magic. The twists and turns in the storyline keep the reader on their toes, ensuring a thrilling experience from start to finish.
Overall, *Prismatic: The Nonesuch* is a highly recommended read for fans of fantasy and young adult fiction alike. With its blend of magic, emotional depth, and social commentary, it’s a book that deserves a place on your shelf.
The author did a fantastic job with this book. I could clearly picture the characters, feel their pain. Thus is a YA fantasy that has Witches, warlocks, a corrupt king, magic and a dragon at the end. The storyline had me hooked and i needed to know if Nalania and Ferrah would be able to free her sister Aurora who was the Nonesuch meaning she had great healing power. Nalania and her family were considered low-born drifters and were dispised by the king and high-born. If you lenjoy YA fantasy with magic I 10 out of 10 recommend reading Prismatic The Nonesuch.
This book genre is not my usual book type, but I must say I 100% fell in love with it. The author did an incredible job captivating me with the story line. The characters were easily relatable, and I genuinely fell in love with them. This book is low on spice content which was perfect because many nights I sat up reading this book to my 8-year-old until he would fall asleep. There is a little bit of kissing detailed in the book, but it is very brief, and appropriate for younger kiddos. If you enjoy YA fantasy with magic, I 100% recommend reading this book.
This was a fantastic read! I love the protagonist Nalania and her journey of personal discovery. All of the characters are amazingly well put together while having the readers feel as though they are part of the Rupin family. Clarke has done an amazing job balancing and creating a narrative that is intriguing, exciting and meaningful. I can't wait to read more of nalania's adventures in the future. If you love fantasy and witchy vibes this is a definitely good read for you. I highly recommend it!!

Absolutely loved the vibes in this book! Its witchy, its medieval, its whimsical.... it has some dark mystery vibes and a little slow burn romance in there. The little twists towards the middle and through the end of this book were so good and kept me intrigued the whole time! And the ending has me itching to read whatever may come next because that was SO GOOD!!!! Definitely recommend if you love YA fantasy with witchy vibes!!
This book was a little hard for me to get into at first. However I was invested towards the end. The story follows the Rupin sisters and involves magic, forbidden love and fantasy creatures. The characters all seem to grow and Nalania seems to finally realize some of her faults and take accountability for always putting herself and her sister in danger. If you like fantasy with no smut and lots of action at the end then this book is for you.
Thank you for such a nice read to binge on and get lost within. I don't like leaving spoilers in reviews. However, if you love YA fantasy, forbidden love, drama, and magical world to get lost in, this book is for you! This author did a fantastic job on her first published book and I do plan to follow this author in hopes for more content! Lots of witchy, magic, high vs lowborn, family choices, mild romance.
Ok lets start this off with I HATE 3rd person POV. But let me tell you this book got me going I didn't want to stop. When ya meet the vision lady in the shop (iykyk) is to die for. I feel like this character definitely add to this story, even though she wasn't exactly a main character I think I would count her at this point. It would definitely be a good YA option as there is no spice.
I loved this wonderful story of two sisters, the bond and love they have for one another is amazing. The fantasy world of witches and warlocks pulls you in with the magic they possess. You will fall in love with these characters especially the mentor I loved her so much. Can’t wait to see what Amber comes up with next.
What an amazing author. She did such a great job putting her heart into the characters that she made come alive. I was lucky enough to be gifted this book and I am truly blessed to have been able to read this. I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us!
This book has such amazing detail that I felt like I was watching a movie. I had a hard time putting it down. Nalania grew throughout the story with learning her magical abilities inorder to protect her family.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The strength and perseverance of the FMC was both relatable and inspiring. It has a bit of romance, suspense and magic to it. I will be recommended to friends.
For starters, I very rarely rate a YA novel 5 stars. It is very difficult for me to get into YA novels as they are typically written to "simple" for me, and I get bored.
That being said, this book is phenomenal. The story line is solid, the characters are loveable, and the scene is set perfectly for each different aspect of the book.
This is 100% clean. There is kissing, but it is very brief, and appropriate for younger kiddos. I would say ages 10+ could read this, depending on their vocabulary and/or reading ability. I considered reading it to my 5 year old.
This follows the Rupin family, primarily Nalania and her sister Aurora. There are many fantasy themes in the book. This includes, fairytale creatures, witches, and warlocks. There is plenty of action near the end of the book as well.
I highly recommend to EVERYONE. I will be letting my sister borrow this, and have recommended that my mom read it on KU or purchase the paperback book as well. I will be actively recommending to anyone who will listen.
