Just not believable

I was hoping for more, but after the first few chapters I just sort of stuck it out. And a note for writers: make sure you get an editor who knows what they are doing. Either 'Kimberly Thomas' had one of the worst or none at all.

This light series takes place in two small towns on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It follows the lives of the Wilson family - a large clan of relatives who live in Provincetown and nearby Falmouth.
There is a problem with this series in that it seems to be the 2nd series following this family, so there feels like there is a missing backstory for many of the characters (there are a lot of them.)
The plot in this opening episode circles around Lily, whose mother, Kelly, was a Wilson and was killed in a car accident forty years earlier. Lily has never known her mother's family until she defies her father and comes to Provincetown in search of relatives.

After 44 years of marriage, Lily's marriage implodes and she's left to pick up the pieces. She had been a stay-at-home mom to three children and spent her life trying to make her family happy. She was a socialite who threw lavish parties but now she wasn't sure what the future held for her. She decided to take a step that worried her children -- she sold the family home and moved to Cape Cod to get to know some relatives of her mother, who she never even knew existed since her father had kept them a secret from her after her mother's death when she was very young. So off she goes from a settled life to the adventure of meeting new family.

When she arrives at her grandparent's home, she is greeted with tears and open arms. They always wanted to know her better but Lily's father kept them apart. He didn't want Lily to know that all of the negative things he'd said about her mother over the years were lies. When she meets her mother's sisters, the same thing happens. The family is thrilled to meet her and to tell her about her mom. She had been raised to believe that her mom had abandoned her but was that really the truth or was it a lie told to her by her father? As she meets more of her mother's family -- and there are a lot of people to meet - she begins to feel that she belongs in Cape Cod. Can she start her life over and find happiness or is there too much baggage to keep her from starting anew?

This is a beautiful story about an older woman starting her life over the way she wants to after years living the life that her father and then her husband control. It’s a story of healing from past lies and the excitement of falling love with a different life than she had lived for years.

Provincetown Whispers is the fist book in A Cape Cod Series focusing on Lily, a newly divorced mother of three grown children, who sets upon a journey of self-discovery and a search for the truth about her mother, Kelly, and the family she had never known. This book is a heartwarming and emotional tale about finding the courage and strength you never knew you possessed and starting a new life with the family you never knew you had. Lily learns of the deception and abuse which had existed against her mother and her maternal family members and realizes she truly did not know the family of which she was raised and lived within for over four decades. This is the first book I have read by Kimberly Thomas and I definitely recommend it.

After many years of marriage, Lily is starting over. She reaches out and finds her mother's family - whom she had been told never wanted anything to do with her for years. She finds nothing could be further from the truth and is welcomed to Provincetown with open arms. This is about finding her place and forgiving her mother (and her father) for so many things over the years. There are a lot of family members - which can be hard to keep straight - but the main characters are all easy to follow. I really enjoyed this book and love the idea of a cape cod romance series. Where does Ben fit in and will her kids join her as she starts her life over - future questions!

Kimberly is back with a new series!!

Lily is the main character in this new book. Following a divorce (after a long marriage), Lily decides she wants to meet her mother's side of the family. Her father and stepmother had convinced her that they didn't want to be a part of her life. After traveling to Provincetown, she is welcomed by so much loving family!

Grappling with the lies her father told her, she presses on to meet and get to know more family and even more about her mother.

Will Lily leave her old life and begin anew with family? Is starting over better than she could have imagined??

Thanks to Kimberly for an ARC!

Other readers have provided great outlines of the plot and profiles of the characters. For myself, I was disappointed in the writer's lack of research regarding the locale of the story. Being a Cape Cod lover, I expected the story to be punctuated with the flavor of the dunes, the architecture, the seafood, the locals and the tourists. None rang true. I could point out all the discrepancies, but for anyone familiar with the Cape, you already know. As for the story, it was formulaic, too many characters by name, much of it repetitive. I learned one lesson, never download a series of books until you have read the first installment.

Provincetown Whispers is book 1 in the Cape Cod series by Kimberly Thomas 4.5 stars

Lily is looking for answers when she learns that her life as she knew it was based on lies, deceit, domineering father, abusive husband, half truths and more, so she heads to Provincetown to meet her mother’s family and finds some answers but still lingering questions that need answers. Meeting the Wilsons and Ben Vasquez shows Lily a different way of life, family and love…

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lily's marriage has ended, and she then receives letters from her mother's sister telling her a different story than what her father has been telling her about her mother her whole life. She decides to go meet her mother's family, and she finds out she has a lot of family that have always wanted to meet her but her father kept her from. She decides to move to Provincetown and start over. This is such an amazing start to this series, and I can't wait for the next book.

family with a heart!

I loved reading this book it reminded me of the beautiful ocean cliff walk and drive in Newport Rhode island 58 years ago as a young newly wed just moved from the N.W. It reminded me to go to the beaches here and walk and enjoy the ocean and sunsets. Good read . But You need a family tree map for us reading this story. I had to make one so I knew who was related to who and how! The plot was predictable but a easy read if you want a fun read.

Not what I expected

I am disappointed because I love stories that take place anywhere in New England. However, it wasn't authentic to the area. The overall story was just ok. The writing style was not my jam, as it was kind of corny. There were a few annoyingly repetitive terms and lines. I was left with too many questions.

I hate abandoning books and hoped for something relatively exciting to happen but it did not. Unfortunately I had to give this a low rating.

Lily starts life over after going through a divorce in NYC. Her mother left her early in life and she's about to meet all of the Wilson side of her family. Get out your spreadsheet so you can keep track of the "new" family. The characters are enjoyable but have quick interactions to keep up with. This is the first book, it is complete but you'll want to read the next one

Lily finds out just how controlling her father can be as he kept her away from her mother’s family for years. Recently divorced from her husband Lance, Lily is ready to make some changes. While married, Lily played the loving wife always playing the perfect hostess despite Lance constantly belittling her. travels to Falmouth and then Provincetown to meet her grandparents and other members of her family. Lots of family names are revealed and it is hard to keep them all straight.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.

Lily is now divorced from a man who had changed from the man she had married. Now she is heading off to meet the family she has never met. Her mother's family. Her father has lied to Lily almost her entire life. Will she find what she wants in Provincetown? A complete change of pace compared to New York and being a socialite. At Provincetown, she meets the very handsome Ben who runs her aunt's inn. A big move. A huge family gathering. Lots of memories and laughter. What a terrific story and I loved it.

It was the Worst of Times and the Best of Times

The epitome of evil that men can do is clearly shown as is the courage of women. Ugliness and happiness are shown to extremes as well as the blessing of families that love and support one another. I am eagerly waiting to see if redemption is possible in one who has done such abhorrent deeds.

Provincetown Whispers

This book was so interesting with the way Kimberly explained how Kelly ended up coming to town and Lily's background as a child. Meeting all of her relatives on her moms side. Meeting Ben after her failed marriage. I am anxious to see how everything turns out.

Great story

It is sad how controlling and lying people can ruin your life. Things like this rob you of a lot of love and happiness. So happy the way this long separated family finally reunited

Beach Walks

Could not put it down. The characters were great. Just the right fleshing out. The walls on beach were just right to air the problems out. Kept you in your toes with relationships. Good book for intriguing drama readers.
