Realllllllly short & sweet. I appreciated the topics covered, but felt a little taken aback when some language was “do this” with no explanation/backing/discussion (a function of a very small book). Overall liked the message and approach.

Some useful tips in this book.

However I couldn’t help but feel like this just views birth with rose tinted glasses on. I appreciate the author is reflecting on her own personal experiences and how she made them positive. But I was hoping for some advice on how to tackle hurdles - for example what if there is complications?? The author also seemed to, in my opinion anyway, have a negative view on medicated births, some women don’t have much choice if complications occur- so this felt unfair.

The exercise examples are useful and overall it was nice to read someone speak so positivity about their birth stories. However, personally I would’ve appreciated acknowledgment for any women who experience complications/ set backs e.g babies not latching (yes yes we know breastfeeding is good- but not everyone is able to!!)

4.5⭐ I appreciated that this book is short, to the point, and filled with very easily doable, practical things to prepare your mind and body for birth, from a Christian perspective. Not a full 5 stars as I'm not sure I agree with all of the advice (blanket advice to do kegals, for example).

Uplifting and Informative

Great read! I picked this up in the third trimester of my second pregnancy and found it to be uplifting and still informative. I’m doing a natural birth this time around, and this book has plenty of helpful tools and information but also is full of things to keep you positive about your journey. I would highly recommend this to a first time momma. But I would also absolutely recommend it to even an experienced momma.

As a doula, I give this book to all of my moms. It's foundational to help break the cycle of fear and pain. And it's such a quick read, it's really an essential handbook.

Short and easy read! Great to reference back to. Definitely helped me realize the fear isn’t pregnancy or birth, but rather pain, and when we eliminate the pain, there’s nothing to fear😊

This book is definitely meant for a specific type of “mama”, that is not me. I was told this was a good resource to help prepare moms that are interested in natural birth. Instead it was a poorly-written Christianity focused pep talk that said things like “ask your husband to help if he can control himself” re. perineal massage. Consistently sentences started with And. Many body parts were referred to immaturely. It just was not for me and I’m not sure how/why this got recommended to me or written/published by an obvious non-author.
