This book is basically one giant opinion piece. In essence, nothing wrong with that, but I needed a little more than just personal experiences lined with random quotes by experts. You can find some wisdom in this book, but it's buried deep beneath the muck.

A lot of name dropping. A lot of 'I approached this eminent person and they warmly agreed with all my ideas'. Some ideas I would like to try and implement. However, generally this was a very lightweight look at adding 5:2 to other areas of your life.

Rather tedious and mostly common sense - certainly nothing a sensible well educated person couldn't surmise for themselves. If I had ever been on a train with nothing else to read I doubt I'd have finished it. I'm also glad it is the library's book and I didn't waste money on it.

Well, although the contents is not revolutionary, it makes you think about some habits and about making some progress to change them, without throwing your whole life upside down

Michael Mosleyn vuonna 2012 lanseeraama 5:2 – dieetti on tämän hetken trendidieetti. Itse en ole sitä kokeillut, mutta idehan on se, että kahtena päivänä viikossa syödään vain 500 kaloria (miehet 600) eikä paastopäiviä ei pidetä peräkkäin. Muuten eletään normaalisti. Guardian-lehden toimittaja ja freelancer-journalisti Emma Cook kokeili dieettiä ja ihastui. Hän päätti kokeilla 5:2 – metodia muuhunkin toimintaansa ja ”viiskakkosti” perheensä elämän. Muutoksia tehtiin kahdeksalla eri elämänalueella. Niihin kuuluivat: kuntoilu, talous, juominen, aikaansaaminen, ruutuaika, parisuhde, huolet ja ympäristö. Kun dieettipäiviä on näin paljon, ne menevät tietenkin päällekkäin. Viikossa oli yksi täysin vapaa päivä, jolloin ei ollut metodin aiheuttamia rajoituksia. Emma Cook koki tämän hyväksi tavaksi muuttaa elämäänsä. Sarja pieniä muutoksia, mutta mistään ei tarvinnut luopua kokonaan.

Kirja antaa jokaiseen kohtaan selkeät seitsenaskeliset ohjeet. Mukana on vinkkejä, tutkimustietoa ja kirjoittajan ja muiden metodia kokeilleiden henkilökohtaisia kokemuksia. Cook on myös haastatellut monia eri asiantuntijoita, joiden ohjeita hän on käyttänyt harjoitusten muodostamiseen. Kirjan ohjeita voi kukin räätälöidä itselleen sopiviksi, mutta opas on kirjoitettu vahvasti Cookin näkökulmasta. Ainakin omat elämäntapani eroavat huomattavasti tämän melkoisen varakkaan lontoolaisen kolmen lapsen äidin arjesta.

Elämä kuntoon 5:2 – metodilla on ihan hyvä opas elämänhallintaan, mutta tuskin lähtisin itse seuraamaan sen ohjeita, vaikka monet niistä ovat ihan järkeviä ja myös ennestään tuttuja.

The basic idea is that if you make changes 2 days out of 5 you will be able to change plenty of things in your life and stick with the changes - sounds reasonable.
That’s it really, it could have been an article rather than a book
Planning to start with exercise and see where it goes
The book has sections on exercise, relationships, worry, environment, productivity, screen time etc

I really liked this book. Yes I’ll agree with other reviewers that there wasn’t anything revolutionary in it, but it was easy to read and gave me a few ideas to investigate further. So I’d recommend it if you’re looking for inspiration to make some changes to your life.

Very basic approach to common problems in life with a lot of quotes from other books to lay the foundation of the method. Don’t get me wrong the method is great and it will help a lot of people who are in the beginner stage. But a bit on the very quick read straight forward side.

I am quite enjoying reading this book, although it's not my usual type of book. It's easy to read, as it's in small and easy to read sections, and there are good tips along the way.

Simple but practical tips for each area of your life...surprisingly I enjoyed the environmental section most...which I wasn't expecting! I'll definitely be putting some of the tips from that chapter into practice!
