Awake at Dawn

When Gemma Briggs moves in with her brother’s friend, the only thing harder than keeping the arrangement a secret is resisting the explosive chemistry she has with her new roommate—hot NFL player, Noah London.
After a workplace one-night stand leaves her high and dry with a baby on the way, Gemma Briggs is forced to leave her job as a college figure skating coach. While it isn't challenging for her to land a new gig at a nearby Boston skating club, it comes with a a significant pay cut that means she'll have to move out of her well-loved apartment. And that's not all, either. Working at the new club results in a surprise visit from Noah London, the wildly popular NFL player who is also her brother's former college teammate... and the uncle of one of her skating students. Noah may have a solidified playboy reputation, but he also has a new puppy at home and a single-mom for a sister who relies on him to babysit when she's busy saving lives as a doctor. The problem? Football season is quickly approaching, and Noah's worried who will fill his shoes when he's out of town winning games. The solution? Asking Gemma Briggs to move in with him. But what happens when the temporary arrangement becomes something they both want to make permanent?

Troupes:
- Sports romance
- Brother's best friend
- Secret roommates
- Pregnancy (he's not the dad, just the DADDY)
- Reformed playboy
- Protective MMC
- Dual POV

Noah is a bigshot NFL quarterback that needs a dog/niece sitter for away games. Gemma is desperately needing a new place to live after finding out she is pregnant (by her a-hole ex boss). Noah runs into Gemma for the first time in years, and immediately offers her his spare bedroom for a mutually beneficial arrangement. I can't forget to mention Gemma just happens to be Noah's best friend's off limits sister and Gemma wants to keep her pregnancy and new living arrangement a secret. The more time they spend together, the harder it is for them to resist each other.

I loved every minute of this book. I absolutely adore Noah and Gemma and their journey together. I'm not always a fan of the pregnancy troupe, but Amelie more than made it work. I loved seeing their individual growth of working through their fears and insecurities and their beautiful growth a couple and eventually parents. They are truly the perfect match for each other. Noah is protective and possessive of Gemma (so hot), but also incredibly caring and supportive of her (even hotter).

Special shoutout to Noah's brothers for all their pranks and helping Noah realize his feelings for Gemma. You can tell Noah loves his family, he is 100% a momma's boy. I loved how welcoming and supportive they were of Noah and Gemma.

This book is everything. It is truly wonderful. Amelie did an phenomenal job of sharing Gemma and Noah's story. This was my first book by Amelie and I'm officially a fan for life. I will be going back and reading Julian and Juniper's story. I can't wait to see who meets their match next. Maybe one of Noah's brothers??

✧˚ Tropes:

🥞 sunshine/sunshine (with a lil grump too)
✈️ pregnancy from another man, MMC steps in
🧡 friends to lovers (Noah will fight me on this, he hates being called her friend tehe :P)
🥞 brother's best friend
✈️ protective/possessive MMC
🧡 acts of service

🧡 found familyyyyy

So, Awake at Dawn by Amelie Rhys. Let me explain the setup first: Gemma has basically hit rock bottom. She moved out of her apartment and quit her job because her previous boss manipulated her into sleeping with him, she got pregnant, and then the OM wanted absolutely nothing to do with the baby. So she cut ties, left her job, and now she's broke. She finds a new job, but money is tight. Enter Noah, who overhears her conversation with someone and offers her a place to stay in exchange for helping with his dog Winnie (cutest name btw, after the town where his parents met) and his niece Chloe.

From the start, Noah is protective and lovely. He's not the grumpy "I'll soften later" kind of MMC, he's sweet right away, and it only gets better. Gemma, meanwhile, is sunshiney and sweet but definitely doesn't let people step all over her. Watching them together just felt right, like duh, of course it's them.

Little things that made me melt- Noah made her pancakes and bought her tiger lilies just because he thought he was mean to her (he wasn't, hehe). He insisted on going to all her doctor's appointments from the very start, promising he'd always look out for her since no one else even knew about her pregnancy. He was there every single time she puked, held her hair back. And then the airport scene… ugh. He dropped everything to be there for her, cancelled their original seats, rebooked them in first class, and stayed right by her side, calmly helping her through her fear of flying. It was everything.

"C'mon," he repeated, a murmured hush. He grabbed my hand, squeezing tight, and only then did I realize I was shaking. "I knew I wouldn't be able to get a seat next to you, so I booked new ones for us."
"You booked —"
"Chloe, can you grab your stuff?"

LIKE?? 😭 Boy was gone for her. He read pregnancy books, researched the best cribs, and hours after they officially started dating, he was already talking about buying a house for "us." The possessive softness was chef's kiss.

I opened my mouth to say something, but Noah looked straight at the amused sonographer and said, "She flies around an ice rink on tiny blades for a living, and I'm just supposed to be okay with that?"
"You get tackled by linebackers for a living, and I'm just supposed to be okay with that?" I shot back. "That's far more terrifying to have to watch once a week."
Noah turned back to face me, and his voice softened. "I'm not carrying our child, angel."

Moving on to things I didn't love: it was insta-lust for both of them, and normally I hate that, but this time I overlooked it. I really didn't like the past chapters though. They added nothing, and every time one popped up, I rolled my eyes. The structure of all the chapters bugged me too, since they almost always started with the MCs being together in a scene. Felt a little repetitive.

And listen, I hate brother's best friend trope so much. Why the unnecessary drama??? It makes me mad. Same here: JULIAN STFU AND GO BACK TO YOUR WIFE. YOUR SISTER AND WHO SHE SLEEPS WITH IS NONEOFYOURBUSINESSSSSS. And also if the brother knows his best friend is actually a good and kind person, why not let his sister date him? And if he's such a bad person, then why are you friends with him?? Yknow? But to be fair, this book didn't drag that trope out. (At least, after the EIGHT YEARS that Noah and Gemma knew each other but didn't date because of what??? Fear of her brother? Pfft.) Julian was mad when he found out, but he and Gemma communicated right away, no drawn-out nonsense. Sorted. Pheeew.

OW/OM: Literally none (thank God). Noah used to be a playboy, and when he and Gemma became roommates, he promised he wouldn't bring women home. He did mention that he'll keep doing it outside—

"I'm not going to bring girls over while you are here," I said gruffly.
"Oh, you're practicing abstinence now?" she asked, looking wholly surprised.
I gritted my teeth together, her shock making the next words fall from my mouth for no reason other than the need to lash out. "No, I'll just use my away games for that."

—and even told her she could have hookups at the apartment if she wanted. However, neither of them actually did, and they communicated about that, too. Besides that, just some minor OW and Noah is not interested. 🙂

Final thoughts: This book was swoony, sweet, and full of little acts of love that made my heart squeeze. Noah is the blueprint. 🥹🤍

I haven't picked up a contemporary romance in months; somehow, I only seem to reach for them when someone else chooses one for me. This time, it was Sumi’s pick of the month. And there's an accidental pregnancy. I'm intrigued already! :)

Gemma and Noah were absolutely adorable right from the beginning and I loved seeing their relationship progress. Noah was a DILF and lawdddd the spicy scenes? I was fanning myself no lie😏 Also, seeing those lil Juniper cameos while reading Nemma's story made my heart happy y'all🥹 Overall, this is a great read if you're looking for a roommates/fwb to lovers romance with a reformed player, an accidental pregnancy (where he's not the bio dad but he's the DADDY) with a dose of brother's friend, a smitten hero, some spicy moments and ALL the feels then Awake at Dawn is the book for you!❤️

*Thank you to Amelie Rhys for providing me with an ARC!

- ARC Review -

IM OBSESSED WITH THIS BOOK!!

Okay, let me start this review by saying I LOVED reading this book. It’s my first time reading a book with the pregnancy trope and I have to admit, I was skeptical of the it when i first heard of it being in this book but I was pleasantly surprised when i finished this book!

There are SOO many good tropes in this book that I didn’t get the chance to list them all so here’s an extension of the tropes. This is the perfect amalgamation of forbidden romance meets secret roomates because she’s pregnant BUT he isn’t the dad, just the daddy.

Noah London, the hot, NFL football player is our mmc. Everyone knows him to be this playboy who goes through girls like he goes through his clothes. But, little do they know, he has a soft spot for his bestfriend’s sister, Gemma, who’s clearly off-limits.

Gemma Briggs, our fmc, is a Figure Skating Coach at a local rink. Coincidentally, Noah’s niece skates at the same rink. After he finds out about her one-night-stand with her boss which ended up in her getting pregnant and evicted, he offers her to stay with him. In exchange, she takes care of his dog and sometimes his niece while he’s away at his games. Before they know it, they slowly start falling for each other. But what do you think will happen when something they meant to be temporary soon turns into something they both want to be permanent?

I have no complaints for this book at all! Noah had me squealing and giggling with some of his lines I can’t wait for everyone to fully experience this book! The smut was literal perfection. Before I conclude, I would like to thank Amelie and Team for picking me to read this ARC. I’m beyond grateful for getting this opportunity to read Gemma and Noah’s story!

noah london i love you 🥹🥹
i loved this one soo much better than the first tbh 🤭🤭

SPOILERS

🏈 nfl qb x figure skating coach
💖 brothers best friend
🏈 accidental pregnancy (not his)
💖 reformed playboy
🏈 roommates

“I think when I get married,” he said softly, “I want to get married at dawn.”
“But no one’s awake at dawn,”
“You are. You always are.”

Noah London is known for being a big playboy, nfl player. never with a woman more than once and gives his all to his career. he is also Gemma Briggs older brother’s best friend. Gemma is a college figure skating coach that just left her high paying job for one with kids because she got pregnant by her boss 🥴
low on funds, needing to find a new place to live and another job Gemma is going through it. Noah overhears her talking about this and offers her a place to stay and a job taking care of his new puppy and niece (sometimes) while he’s away for football this season.

i love Noah so much 😭🥹 he is such a sweetheart. he has such a big heart and will do anything in his power to help the people in his life. most of his family lives in Minnesota but his sister and niece live near him. with his sister going through a divorce and being a surgeon, Noah ends up watching his niece at least 3 days a week. when Gemma needs help he immediately offers a solution. the guy is just a fixer 😭

Noah has had a crush on Gemma for 8 years 🤭🤭 he’s stayed away out of respect to his best friend but he is struggling with her being so close. wether he knew it or not he was all in as soon as she told him she was pregnant she moved in 😭 he went to her appointments with her, looked up pregnancy facts, was so protective of her and her unborn baby even before they got together.

Gemma was great. loved her. she knew how Noah lives his life (at least with women) unattached and didn’t plan on asking him to change for her. not when it’s not just her i did get kinda irritated that she couldn’t tell that he felt more for her but tbh she could just chalk it up to him being her brothers friend (& hers), not wanting to hurt her..

no third act (kinda) they separate for a few a weeks but still live together. they come to a point where she can’t ask him for more and he’s too in his head about being good enough. he took their separation to read so many baby books on how to be a good parent and researching baby items so he can be what they both deserve 😭😭

i wish we got to actually read their labor experience, not just texts. and more during the newborn stage. i would have loved to see Noah moving into dad role when the baby was earthside 🥹

for a reformed playboy trope this was SAFE
not much is mentioned about his past other than he was never interested in a woman more than once. he says with her staying with him he will use away games for his *needs* but never actually planned on it
she obviously had a ons with her boss not long ago but wether she consented is questionable as he got her very drunk before taking her home. it’s also mentioned she slept with other men too so it wasn’t once bad experience for her before Noah 🙌🏼

This book was such a letdown from the first one …

I legit LOVED Alive at night. The connection, the growth, the understanding of each others feelings in a natural progression and then the relationship itself demonstrated to the reader. These are all aspects that were lacking in this book

Gemma came off as a horny teenager that simply wanted to seduce Noah all the time while having no idea how to properly communicate anything going on through her brain. She at no point understood his feelings or even tried to because she put it in her head that he was a playboy and only wanted sex even though he offered his apartment for free to a pregnant girl. I’m not sure what there screams playboy but it’s obviously not something from planet earth.

The relationship never grew naturally but instead it was 100 pages too much of inner monologue that was absolutely NOT NECESSARY. Those thoughts needed to be acted on or said out loud but the author apparently wanted to drag on every description and every thought. That’s also why you know that neither of these two characters were mature enough to deal with budding feelings.

Some of the things were also non sensical. Who opens their door to their house in just a long shirt to a neighbor after having sex with their room mate ? Especially when they wore the same thing the night before to tempt their roommate to show them their ass in said shirt.
I don’t understand why Noah was even made a football player when the way it was portrayed was so absurd. He only went to practice and had two games. He was even home a whole week which never happens unless it’s the off season.

I’m all for the sex scenes but it was a bit too much. Especially when there was nothing else going for this couple, it seems like all they were good for for each other was to tease each other on sex and to walk away. I also thought alive at night was too sexually based but at least they were together and going toward a future unlike these two clowns.

All in all, I’m disappointed in this book. I wanted it to end so badly and I had to skip a lot of pages. I almost wish I didn’t read it. I also wish it was a shorter novel with less focus on trivial things.

This book was one of my most anticipated reads of this year, I was so incredibly excited to receive this arc and it did NOT disappoint. I had the pleasure of reading this books first draft which was about 4 months ago, I didn't think I could love it anymore than I did but now?? Even better. I LOVE this book so so much and the story and the characters??
Oh my god Noah London has made it into one of my top book boyfriends list. I loved Noah's brothers, god I hope there's a book about them, they were hilarious especially Sully! @amelierhys.author has outdone herself, definitely my favorite read this month and it'll definitely end up being a comfort read, I loved it so much and I know you will too aà
« I've never read a
book when the FMC was pregnant and it wasn't by the mmc and to say I was so incredibly touched but the things Noah said and did for Gemma was an understatement. And we also got to see some of Juni and Jules which were the main characters of the first book (alive at night) and I loved seeing my babies again ∞ Winnie and little Lo were so adorable and Gemma's Mug collection

ugh I loved it all. GO READ AWAKE

After a disastrous night out with her boss Gemma finds herself pregnant, he wants nothing to do with her or her child so she packs up, quite her job and relocated back to her hometown. She's determined to hisde her pregnancy from her family, she's a skating coach and at her job she runs into her brother's friend Noah who over heard she looking for a place to live. He proposes an arrangement, she dog sits for him and occasionally babysits his niece and she can stay with him. Out of options Gemma accepts. But Noah turns out to be so much more than she'd ever expected.

*******
I go absolutely gaga for anything children related in my books even when h is pregnant by OM.
I loved Noah with Gemma! He was so awesome with her, j/p and caring and supportive, I loved him with her
I had a couple issues with this book however

1)Gemma trying to refuse his help at every turn🙄 girl you're broke and he's a NFL quarterback stfu and accept all the help you can get please
2) Her constantly talking about she didn't want to be a burden to him. She quickly became a tad annoying with the " oh Noah no you don't have to...." 🙄
3) We're giving flashbacks sprinkled throughout about the first time they meet 8 years previously. Noah was instantly captivated and wanted her but a "look" by her brother lets him know not to go there. Um what? We're told over and over that he's wanted her for years, from the very first meeting as a matter of fact but he's spent years manwhoring about yet tries to convince this reader that he's asked for her number multiple times🙄 boy if you don't stfu.
4) Reformed manwhores done right can make the best book boyfriend's. Done right means don't tell me shit about their past!!! Why do I need to know his reputation as a manwhore when you're also trying to convince me he wants the h? So he asked her brother for her number he said no, he put his tail between his legs but his cock in ow??? Wtf like why TF is that necessary!!!!!!!!!!! Stopppppppp it!!!!
5)
“Of course I like her. But just as friends.” He grinned as he thought about Juniper, and my stomach churned again. Ugh. “It was easy talking to her, and I was happy to help. But we never really had that spark.”
“She said you almost kissed her once,” I argued—for some goddamn reason.
“It wasn’t like that.” He shook his head. “I wanted her to know that she deserved to be kissed. I know how girls overthink things if they don’t get a kiss at the end of a date.”

For context Juniper is the best friend of the h, now I didn't read book 1 but from what I understand he fake dated that h. His excuse for trying to kiss Juniper is that he wanted her to know that she deserved to be kissed. Now this is a man the author is trying to convince me has wanted the h for years......but yet he not only had time to fake date her bestie but tried to kiss her???????????????

In all fairness Noah truly was fantastic with Gemma, he really tried hard for her and baby and the ending was so sweet but his history with women pissed me off. Especially rubbing it in my face.

Idk why any type of friends to lovers or brother's best friend always has to have a manwhore H ughhhhhhhh
Anyways the conflict was predictable considering the were keeping everything a secret from her brother and her family. This would've been a fantastic read without the H's past smacking me in my face.

******
No cheating
Brother's friend
Manwhore H, no OW on page
No one else after meeting the h again
But it also came with a boss who manipulated his way into my bed after taking me out for drinks—way too many drinks. And that drunken one-night stand resulted in the cutest little sweet pea. 👈🏿this is how the h became pregnant

The OM wasn't around but the h and the guys do confront the shit stain eventually. He doesn't want anything to do with his child thankfully

Original thoughts

I blame myself for not paying better attention....I saw pregnant h and dove in because gimme everything baby in my romance books and I'm happy as a clam.....but friends to lovers(brothers friend) man le sigh

AMELIE RHYS, YOU HAVE OUTDONE YOURSELF.

My Rating: 4.75 / 5 🌟

Tropes Included:
🌼 brother's friend & former teammate
🌼 sports romance (football player & figure skating coach)
🌼 pregnancy (but he's not the dad, just the daddy)
🌼 secret roommates dog daddy + dog nanny
🌼 obsessed & protective MMC
🌼 spiccyyy

I have read 3 different versions of Awake at Dawn. I read it on Wattpad, then I beta read it, and lastly I helped Amelie do a final read through before the books got sent out to ARCs readers.

The Wattpad version was already great, the beta read version had its small changes and after tightening and smoothening some details during my final read through, I’m confident that Awake at Dawn is at its BEST FORM.

To be honest, I wouldn’t have picked up this book knowing it had two tropes I wasn’t a fan of: accidental pregnancy and reformed playboy. But I was an Amelie Rhys fan and I trusted her enough to deliver a story that will do these two tropes justice.

And unsurprisingly, SHE ABSOLUTELY CAME THROUGH.

Amelie does not joke around when it comes to the tropes she includes in her books, and as always, she delivers each trope PERFECTLY. The way Amelie ELEVATED the accidental pregnancy and reformed playboy trope has me ON MY KNEES. Noah was so well written and so multidimensional. I was obsessed with him from the start and I continuously rooted for him and his character development throughout the book. AND MY GOSH, the love and care he shown Gemma was one of my favourite aspects of the book. Speaking of Gemma, her dilemma with her situation and her feelings for Noah was absolutely heartfelt. I love them individually and I love them together.

While Alive at Night felt more Rom-Com-ish, Awake at Dawn is more angst heavy, ESPECIALLY with the last quarter. I genuinely kept crying while I was reading and I still think of these two even after days have passed since I last read this book. Honestly, the different feel of these two books just show THE RANGE Amelie has.

And of course, this wouldn’t be an Amelie book if it wasn’t spicy. 🤭 Spice level is 🌶️🌶️🌶️.

There’s a few authors that I truly feel had a secure grasp on the romance genre; Amelie Rhys was one of them. And Awake at Dawn is Amelie showing her capability as a romance author and her skill as a storyteller.

I love Noah & Gemma (aka Nemma), I love this book and I absolutely adore Amelie Rhys.

AND I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR YOU TO PICK THIS BOOK UP.

You guys I absolutely adored this book!!! This was the slowest of slow burns but was so so worth it! The ending?! I was a sobbing mess {in the best way}. And the progression of Noah & Gemma’s relationship was simply *chefs kiss*!

Noah was the sweetest mmc I’ve ever read about!!! He fell first & SO hard for Gemma & this man would do absolutely anything for her. Anything. 👏🏻

Gemma was such a strong fmc & I love getting to watch her grow throughout her pregnancy & finally trust that Noah was going to be there for her and her baby. 🥺

3.75-4⭐️ Such a cute and lighthearted surprise pregnancy romance! I had such a great time reading this one. It wasn’t one of those books that completely consumed me, but I enjoyed it a lot at a nice, relaxed pace.

Tropes you’ll find:
• Surprise pregnancy (not the MMC’s baby)
• Brother’s best friend
• College crush that never went anywhere (thanks to the brother)
• MMC - football player
• FMC - ice skating teacher
• Found family
• Protective and possessive MMC
• Kind and caring FMC
• Forced proximity

This book wasn’t super deep or complicated, it was just a sweet, fluffy romance with a touch of forbidden slow burn that turns into the cutest love story. The MMC was kind, caring, and protective from the start (but still manly), and the FMC was so warm and genuine, the perfect match for him. They suited each other sooo well! And that epilogue? Ugh, adorable! 🥹💖

One thing I really loved was that both characters came from happy, supportive families. I’m honestly so over every romance having traumatized MCs from broken homes. I get that it’s realistic for some, but it’s also nice to see healthy, loving families represented for a change. It felt refreshing and sweet.

Also…I’m so curious about Blake’s story next, especially since it’s a marriage of convenience.

this was actually so cute 😭

i love when a playboy isn’t a playboy at heart but no one thinks more of him so he thinks less of himself and that’s Noah 😭

there isn’t any ow drama, just a jealous neighbor he rejected that was there for like a second and then disappeared. noah said that he hasn’t wanted to hook up with anyone since the beginning of summer when his friend needed a wingman and he didn’t have any interest in anyone at all the second he saw Gemma again. some om drama with the father of Gemma’s baby but that was resolved pretty quick in the end and the way Gemma believed Noah was more than who he saw himself as and how Noah stepped up for Gemma in every single way was just the best thing to read about.

“I want him to hear you. Let him hear how f*cking off-limits you are.”🥵

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but the second book?? OMG MY FAVORITE.

Gemma moves in with her brother’s bestfriend, who happens to be a smoking hot NFL player. And guess what? Gemma’s got a bun in the oven, but not from Mr. NFL…

Noah steals the show with his swoon-worthy personality. He’s not just a hotshot athlete; he’s the ultimate sweetheart, standing by Gemma’s side through thick and thin. Gemma goes to her doctor’s appointments? Well, he is there too. I wish I can clone him.

And Gemma? She’s a total badass despite the curveballs life throws her way. Her journey through pregnancy was a rollercoaster of emotions , but seeing her bond Noah grow stronger was heartwarming.

Their chemistry is off the charts, and every moment they share, from steamy scenes to heart-melting gestures, had me cheering for them🥺

I also loved the flashback scenes, giving us glimpses into their shared history and making their connection feel all the more real. Plus, the mutual pining? Absolute perfection.

4 1/2 stars, they were just absolutely too cute. Noahs love for Gemma and little Delilah literally tore my heart to pieces. They were such a great couple and even with many bumps in the road they finally got their happy family. 🫶🫶 I can’t wait until this book becomes published so I can re read their amazing story through a paperback, it’s definitely a new fav. Thankyou so much Amelie for creating this beautiful story.

a bit to much smut for my liking in the second half, had to skip a lot of pages because it got to much for me. really liked the plot but i didnt really feel the connection between noah & gemma. it felt more like a i want to know your body connection instead of a i want to know your soul.

Quotes

“I hate that you didn’t feel like you could ask me for more and I’d give it to you. All I want is to give you the world. I want to be that man. I’ve been learning how to be that man. Especially over the last couple of weeks, Em. Because not being with you has been destroying me.”

“I don’t know why you think I could walk away from you,”

4.5 stars!

Accidental pregnancy is such a IYKYK romance trope. When it's done well, it is such a tender, achy way to watch two people fall in love. Full of all the slow, domestic, everyday sort of moments that are not unique at all but are literally magic to the people experiencing them. Awake at Dawn did it so well. Full disclosure, I did read this book in one day while I was hormonal and crampy and it did make me wish I was pregnant and it did give me a daddy kink and I will be blaming Amelie Rhys for these new developments. daddy kinks are ok if it's, "you're my baby's daddy", not, "you're my daddy", right? right?????

Anyway.

Noah and Gemma have been on the outskirts of each other's lives since college, when Noah was roommates with her brother, Julian. Even though they've always been attracted to each other, they've only really interacted a handful of times at events that centered around Julian, so it's never had a chance to go anywhere. After a highly questionable drunken one night stand with her boss leads to a pregnancy the father wants nothing to do with, Gemma leaves her job to get away from him. The only job she can find, teaching figure skating to kids, pays so little she can't afford to stay in her apartment. It just so happens that Noah's niece is in her class, and when he comes to pick her up one afternoon, he overhears Gemma discussing her housing issues with a coworker. He's an NFL quarterback, and with the season about to start, he's been looking for someone to take care of his new puppy and help his sister with childcare while he's away at games. So he asks her to move in with him so they can help each other out. The only problem is that they have to hide it because she doesn't want her brother to know she's struggling. And the chemistry between them is torturing them both. Oh yeah, and she's pregnant with another man's baby. So things are primed to go really well.

Noah London, the man that you are. Raised in a home full of brilliant, nationally renowned surgeons, Noah's never quite shaken the feeling of being a dumb jock despite all his success. He doesn't feel like he's ever been someone people rely on or turn to for help - he's the "good time" friend: the one night stand but never the boyfriend, one of the groomsmen but never the best man. But when he realizes no one (except the deadbeat father) knows Gemma's pregnant, he tries his hardest to step up for her. He takes her to her appointments, holds her hair back when she's dealing with morning sickness, makes sure she's getting enough folic acid in her diet. And falls in love with her a little more every time she walks in the room.

I loved the way this book explored his insecurities - every time Gemma tells him she doesn't expect anything from him, he hears that she doesn't think he's good enough or reliable enough to lean on. And of course, when Noah tells Gemma he wants her, she hears that he wants her body, because he can't possibly mean he wants all of her, broke and about to be a single mom to an infant, right? I wasn't frustrated at all by the conflict in this book, because these issues are so true to these characters and so real in a situation like theirs.

I also was really impressed by the conversations around consent that came up in this book. It's not a super major theme, and I wouldn't consider this book triggering, but Gemma's feelings about the circumstances of her pregnancy are really well written. She never outright considers it rape, she thinks she consented but knows that she was too drunk for it to be okay. She feels a little ashamed and a lot yucky about it all, especially that she can't remember it well, but she knows that her boss holds much more if not all of the blame, and that he used his power over her to buy her way more drinks than she was comfortable drinking in a work setting, brought her back to his place, and then abandoned her when she got pregnant. And Noah expressing all his anger and protectiveness while letting Gemma control the narrative and feel empowered was perfect.

Amelie Rhys truly knocked it out of the park again with this one. She is wildly underrated in the steamy, tender contemporary romance world and I will never stop singing her praises! So so grateful to have been chosen for her arc team, and I can't wait for Blake and Delaney's story next.

STOP Amelie Rhys is writing a brother's best friend, roommate, accidental pregnancy and he's not the father sports romance and I NEED SMELLING SALTS

SO excited to be an arc reader for this one!!! Alive at Night was one of the best debuts I read last year and remains my favorite contemporary enemies-to-lovers romance. Go read it before book 2 drops on May 1st!

Amelie Rhys has completely and utterly outdone herself! I have never been more excited about receiving an ARC in my entire time on booksta. It’s all I could talk about to anyone who would listen. This book is everything. I was 91% through and sitting thinking about how I wasn’t ready to part ways with Gemma & Noah’s story.

Read if you think you’ll like:
✿ Brother’s friend & Former teammate
✿ Sports Romance ( Professional football player + Figure skating coach)
✿ Secret roommates
✿ She hides her pregnancy from everyone but him
✿ Reformed playboy
✿ Only one bed
✿ Obsessed & protective MMC
✿ Dog dad + dog nanny
✿ Duel POV

The story within this book aswell as the characters are all top-tier. Every last detail is executed to perfection (especially Noah😏). Gemma is a single mom-to-be & finds herself struggling to make ends meet and afford her apartment, Noah is a professional football player who has just adopted a puppy, he’s worried about Winnie being left alone whilst he’s at away games up and down the country. Noah proposes a deal that could benefit both himself and Gemma. Gemma moves into his apartment to become his dog nanny. But they have to keep it a secret as Gemma has quite the protective older brother who doesn’t know she’s pregnant or that she has a “friendship” with Noah. What could possibly go wrong?

Gemma & Noah had a sloooooww burn, but it didn’t feel like a slow burn. They were constantly flirting and their chemistry was hard to miss! Noah proved himself time and time again with how much he cared for and admired Gemma throughout her pregnancy. She never had to ask for a thing because he provided it before she had too, he held her hand, held back her hair and held her together like Julian would’ve wanted him too. Gemma was trying to navigate this new life she was soon to have and it felt so raw and real too read, but it was so comforting knowing Gemma had someone like Noah in her corner. I love how much both characters overcame their insecurities together and became more confident in themselves and their relationships with one another as well. Their story is my favourite.

When Gemma’s brother & Noahs friend finally find out about their relationship, his reaction was realistic and it didn’t feel harsh or like *eyeroll* which is yet another thing I loved about this book.

I need a moment to touch on Sully, Noah’s brother. He is an icon and I hope that we do get to know him more in a book one day?¿

Overall, if it wasn’t obvious I absolutely adored this book and I believe it will be loved so dearly by everyone who reads it. I loved Juniper & Julian’s book by the end, I’m sometimes someone who struggles with super slow burn and juniper and Julian took what felt like a lifetime to realise they were in love. Whereas Gemma and Noah knew from the beginning, we just got to witness them try and navigate through it.

I want to thank Amelie so much for this amazing opportunity I have adored every minute of reading about Gemma & Noah and I can’t wait for everyone else to love this as much as me✨💕🪐💌🦢

* ARC * Pregnant roommate/brother's friend
This is probably my favorite series of all time. These characters are just my favorite people. There is so much love and joy, and the end of these books.
Gemma is an ice skating coach who had to change her life after she accidentally got pregnant. Noah is a professional football player who is also close friends with her overprotective brother. They both have to navigate through this new journey together while helping each other.
There was also a connection between these two from the start. I enjoyed having the little flashbacks throughout the book. Their character growth was just absolutely amazing. Both coming from big families, they didn't realize how much support they would really have. So beautiful!

ARC - Review

4,5/5 stars.

I'm so happy i got to read this book and write an ARC review. This was really a feel good book. Both characters were mature and there was no unnecessary breakup. Ohhhhh daddy Noah was not what i expected, he was mucccchhhh better. I was shocked in a positive way when I got to follow Noah's development and thoughts. I really liked how he didn't hesitate to take care of Gemma and love the child even though it wasn't biologically his child. NOAH IS THE MAN. The dog daddy part was adorable. This was a really well written book. Almost every part that I want in a book was included. What I missed was a little more how the family and friends reacted to the news of the pregnancy.

The spice in this book did not disappoint at all. Who doesn't love a possessive MMC?

Tropes: brothers best friend, pregnancy, sports-romance, roommates.

Quotes:
- I thought she was the best, too. Always had, but there was only one problem. Gemma Briggs was Julian's sister

- It hurt so bad to watch her suffer like this

- "Why?" Noah murmured as his eyes lowered to my lips, entranced by the way his thumb moved over my mouth. "Why is it so impossible to resist you"

- The thought of having Gemma felt so right. The thought of having that baby felt so right

✨ arc review ✨ thank you amelie for continuously blessing me with ARCs to the wildflower series. i am forever at your service 🫡🫶🏽

super short synopsis: noah needs a dog/niece sitter. gemma needs a new place to move into after getting pregnant, (by no one important). she secretly moves into noah’s place, who also happens to be her brothers best friend, and amazing, delicious, beautiful things happen. fin.

this book, man 😮‍💨☺️🫣🥹 i don’t even know where to start

if i though alive at night was good, awake at dawn just came in and took the lead.

"I want him to hear you. Let him hear how f***ing off-limits you are." 😮‍💨

the tension between noah and gemma was unbearable, i couldn’t stand it. from the moment gemma moves in, you could set the room on fire with how hot it was in there. and let’s not talk about when the match was finally lit because… 🥵😮‍💨 lord have mercy.

"We are yours, Noah." 🥹

the way their relationship progressed was painfully beautiful. they both had very valid fears and inner struggles that kept them apart, and i’m so happy they were able to overcome them.

i loved meeting noah’s family and getting back to juni and jules 🫶🏽🌸🌻🪷💐 this book was everything and i can’t wait to read the next one 🥹

i suspect the next book will be on blake or theo 👀

AWAKE AT DAWN, out 5-1-24 ✨

With her sophomore book, Amelie cements herself as an auto-buy author. This is another swoon-worthy romance, with plenty of spicy and heart warming moments. Noah is soooo daddy (he’s not the dad but gosh I’ll have his child any day!) with the way he treats Gemma and goes out of his way to support her when he doesn’t have any obligation to. If you love So High School by Taylor, this book is it!

While this is second in the series, it can be read as a standalone. If you’ve read Alive At Night, I loved how Amelie weaved in the cameos - and even set up the next book perfectly!

This is the perfect read for those who love:
- Sports Romance
- Brother’s Friend
- Pregnancy Trope/Single mom-ish (he’s not the dad)
- He Falls First
- Mutual Pining
- Roommates
- Dual POV

Thank you Amelie for sending me an ARC.
