Authentic: Cultivating Authentic Relationship with God

Rate this book
How do we develop a deep lasting intimacy with God?

One of the problems with being a Christ follower is that we can substitute religious expressions and religious behaviors for authentic experiences and encounters without even know we are doing it. The longer we go to church the more we know the right words to say and the right things to do, but we can easily say those words and do those things without transformational intimacy with Jesus? We can start with significant, transformational encounters with God, and end up with dusty old religion.

In Authentic, we will explore the is religion and how do we avoid falling into its traps and snares? How does intimacy with God and people work? How do we develop depth with God and sustain it over a lifetime? What are the practices and attitudes that we can develop to help us draw near to God so we can learn to live an authentic spiritual life in Christ? We don’t want to settle for the counterfeit, when Jesus offers us abundant life.

I love all of Dr. Rob Reimer’s books, but this one just climbed the charts as a favorite. This book really helps you to discern and go after an honest deep relationship with the Lord, and recognizing religious behaviors, beliefs, and habits…if you are willing to do some self examination. I truly appreciate this book because it’s pushing me to become more self aware and honest before the Lord and others. I’m grateful for Rob’s ministry and teaching as he leads others in deep authentic intimacy with God.

My 3rd Dr Reimer book and his work is just amazing. “When my routine becomes a rut, I become religious” . This book is a great read post soul care, just like soul care it can become a lifestyle. I feel like this book showed me how monitoring our hearts so we don’t become religious or numb to what God is doing is something we have to constantly do and how we need to constantly empty ourselves of what we think we know to approach the one who knows it all. Thank you Dr Reimer for another great book

Authentic truly touched my heart. It reminded me of the power and beauty of walking closely with God in a real, honest way. I felt seen, encouraged, and challenged to go deeper in my relationship with Him. I'm so grateful for the wisdom and truth shared in these pages. What a gift!

Clearly his main point is correct there is a strong need to have an authentic relationship with God. There are many true and insightful and convicting things that the author brings to light. I wish he could have used more spiritual backing to his claims. I could list many different questions that came to mind as I read and counters but that would not be fruitful as he points out in his book. Good intentions in his writing would read other books by him as of now
