I had heard tales about this "doctor" and was always curious if the stories were more than just folk lore. I happened to find this book in a local boutique and was excited to learn more. The book is a collection of accounts from his patients and the local people who knew him. Living above Placerville, Dr. Andre healed thousands of people throughout the 1940's and 1950's who had no other hope. Account after account described his kind ways, how he looked like Jesus, and how he would accept no money. Some interesting facts: He was not a doctor, he truly lived off the land, he slept with the goats claiming that they gave him energy, he never cut his hair, he believed in the healing properties of fresh foods and herbs, and he didn't need patients to tell him their symptoms. By touching people, he knew what was wrong with them and whether or not he could heal them. Most of his work seemed to be in the chiropractic area and occasionally, he would retreat into another room to pray. Eventually word got out and people from all over the world came to visit him. I won't ruin the ending of this biography, but interesting things happened - even after his death. I rated this book five stars purely based on its "fascination factor". I'm just dying for someone else to read it and let me know what they thought. What a fascinating man!
A very interesting read about an interesting man. The book is written by testimonials for the most part. I enjoyed reading about places and people I have heard of.
