From Parent to Prisoner: Memoirs of a modern day slave is a pure non-fiction literary work which presents a carefully detailed, documented and graphic view from the perspective of a first time misdemeanor offender for "delinquent" child support payments, from behind the walls from one of the most notorious and corrupt places for incarceration in Mississippi, The Raymond Detention Center. This book fully imerses the reader into the unseen and unspoken corrupt system and foundational racist practices of the new "modern" Mississippi one sided legal system with complete, pinpoint accuracy of detailed and documented eye witnessed corruption and the violations of basic God given human rights. Not only does the author provide ample evidence via an actual documented paper trail, but with supporting testimonies of other interviewed inmates / sworn Deputies attesting to the outlandish corruption of which this book clearly makes transparent and exposes it in plain view.
The author's command of English is interesting, to say the least. The book contains an incredible amount of quotations marks, though I'm not sure why. The author is thrown in jail for not making child support payments. Sadly he doesn't understand that he is being punished and blames the economy among other things for his failure. At some point the payments are court ordered and the children's mother gets payments through deductions from unemployment insurance and after a lapse, he's sent to jail. Foolishly not having an editor or proofreader his arguments are suspect.
