Jeg er så glad for å ha denne i hylla mi. En ekstremt vakker bok om hvordan årstider skifter rundt om i verden, med masse interessante fakta om dyr og planter. Fiiiin!
Wow! This is a lovely and innovative way to portray the seasons. Six different places on the earth are spotlighted in its pages as they decrease in size. Thus, a European oak wakens from its slumber to put forth new sprouts in spring, spreads its leafy branches to provide a home for various animals in the summer, finds its leaves turning bright colors in the autumn, and then lies bare under winter's snow, four distinct seasonal changes that are described alongside information about the flora and fauna found during those periods. Other terrain such as the Arctic and the Kenyan Maasai Mara don't necessarily experience the same seasons in the same way, but may go from cold to colder and dry to wet, respectively. The other areas that are depicted here include Alaska, the Yellow Dragon Valley of China, and Australia's mangrove forests whose inhabitants are very different depending on the seasons. The images are irresistible and enable readers to appreciate the natural wonders of the world in a unique way. This informational picture book demands attention and will please anyone who appreciates the distinct changes of each season no matter where they are or how those seasons appear. This book would be an excellent addition to science classroom libraries.
This is a very clever way of presenting the changing of seasons in a variety of locations to children. The use of flaps that allow for seasonal changes will really capture a child's attention. Fun concept and nice content!

Seasons by Hannah Pang and illustrated by Clover Robin is a wonderfully interactive picturebook that immerses readers in six different landscapes around the world, showing how they are transformed throughout the changing seasons. There is a lot of great information on different animals and plants within the different landscapes, which span from the Arctic tundra to the Australian wetlands. I love how the pages are so unique and really appreciated the interactive element of this book. I learned more about the beauty and necessity of seasons and would love to share this treasure with others.
A picture book tour of seasons in different climates all over the world from England to the Arctic to Alaska to Australia's northern mangrove forests to China's mountains and Kenya's grasslands.
FINALLY! A book on seasons for kids that includes non-temperate climates that have less than 4 seasons! Our school is in Bangkok, and we have 3 seasons here: rainy season, dry/cooler season, and hot season. Our students never see even rainy and dry seasons represented in seasons books. But now they finally have one that does! The Australian setting and the African setting in this are both rainy/dry seasons. The Arctic one is just winter & summer. The book is cleverly designed with flaps of growing sizes for each location spread, so that you see the area in all the seasons in one go, and as you peel back the flaps you can read about the season directly to the right and the local animals' activities in that season. The artwork is charming. This is hands down my new favorite seasons book.
SEASONS is a gorgeous and creative look at seasons around the world. The cover drew me in immediately and its warm, vibrant beauty is carried throughout the book's illustrations. What I love most about this book, however, is that it introduces kids to how seasons vary in different places. It goes beyond the typical spring, summer, fall, winter that we typically see in picture books. Each area is separated by multi-layered spreads that creatively use page turns and page size to show how seasons change. Some of these are the more traditional, North American seasons, but they also show places with only two seasons or seasons that are entirely different - like the wet and dry seasons in Kenyan Maasai Mara. This book gorgeously captures not only the vibrant changes of the seasons in a diverse collection of places, but also shares information about the animals that are effected by these changes. A unique and lovely nonfiction book for kids.
Unparalleled. The pages are cut similar to The Very Hungry Catepillar in that there are sections of the page to show the progression and/or changes based on the season in the six areas like in a mangrove, the Arctic, in the Alaskan wilderness, on the African savannah, in China's lush valley.
It's an homage to the seasons, but also the diversity of landscape and animals. It's reads like Stewart's definition of expository nonfiction, a brand of literary nonfiction. It's got a structure that includes some narrative text, a description of the flora and fauna in those environments, and the visual explosion of beauty to feast on. Breathtaking combination of elements.
This is one of these books that I judged by the cover. It is simply beautiful! Inside the book are flaps that vary in sizes depicting different seasons in various parts of the world. First we see the seasonal changes on a European Oak. Each flap describes a season and about the animals, flowers, insects, birds, and hibernation. The next is the Artic followed by Alaska, each showing their seasons and facts. Then we are off to northern Australia and their mangrove trees, followed by the Yellow Dragon Valley in China. Last is the Maasai Mara in Kenya and its many creatures, trees, flowers, and insects.
"From the Artic tundra to the African plains, the changing of the seasons keeps every creature and plant working together in perfect balance. The seasons drive the everlasting cycle that powers all life on earth."
Wow - this is a unique and lovely way to depict the seasons in a nonfiction format for children, aimed at ages 3-6. The style of this book is intriguing -- you visit six different locations on Earth and see how that location changes through the seasons. The book uses pages differing in size which makes for a fun page-turning discovery. The first location -- a Might Oak, for example first depicts four different rectangles of that one oak tree in each season, but you learn those cutouts actually are pages to turn and you read more about the specific seasonal changes as you go.
This is a great book for a seasons study or for any nature-loving family.

Author: Hannah Pang Summary: Seasons is a book that guides the readers through the four seasons and the changes in nature throughout the year. Review: The poetic text and the use of bright images allow not only to convey the essence of the change of seasons, but also to explain to children the existence of a cycle in nature. Seasons by Hannah Pang is a book that is already included in our class library. We first had a lesson about different seasons and allowed the children to draw pictures of the season, and how we can tell when that season has arrived . After we completed the lesson the book was added to the library and the children love to go back in the book to try to reread what was taught.
See how the seasons change for a European oak, the Arctic, an Australian mangrove, China's Yellow Dragon Valley, and the Kenyan Maasai Mara. The illustrations are beautiful with flaps for each season of each region, enabling you to see the land change from one season to the next with the turn of each flap. What is unique about this seasons book is that it does not only name the four seasons (fall, winter, spring, summer), but how the Australian mangrove and the Maasai Mara have two seasons: wet and dry.
There is so much detail to the illustrations and lots of animals mentioned for each habitat and season
Gorgeous illustrations, and the presentation and information is equally on par. The back cover describes this book as "the perfect gift for nature lovers young and old," and I can't help but agree. Even in my twenties, I was captivated by this book and learned new things. My favorite spread is of the mangroves in northern Australia and that polished fiddler crab with one wickedly huge claw! I love how this book goes beyond the typical four season cycle and truly captures the diversity of life and global climate patterns. Brilliantly executed.
-Nature theme picture book I really enjoyed this book! It takes you through all four seasons and shows how nature changes during the year. The illustrations are beautiful and full of colour. My favourite part was seeing how animals and plants look different in each season. This book might make children want to go outside and explore! It’s a lovely story for anyone who enjoys nature and learning about the world around us.
This book introduces the different seasons, and how they look around the world. This book talks about plants and animals. The illustrations provide scenery of these locations during different times of the year. I can use this book in my future classroom as an introduction to seasons, and similarities and differences globally. The illustrations are colorful.
A gorgeously illustrated, uniquely crafted look at the seasons featuring six landscapes from around the world as they transform with simple facts about the creatures and plants that are found in each location during the different seasons..
4/5/24: This is a good book with lots of information about the seasons in six different places in the world. I could see this being used by a first or second grade class for information about seasons or places. Read for picture this readathon for change, nature on the cover, and night.
Unique book. Not only is it informative with interactive elements, it’s beautifully illustrated too. I recommend this for educational content to parents who homeschool and other educators.
This book is about showing different seasons in different environments, and how it affects the animals in those environments. In my future classroom, I could teach my students about how seasons affect different environments. I liked how this book shows different environments from different countries. I also liked how they illustrated the different seasons using different sized pages.

SEASONS is an intriguing book that takes the reader to different parts of the world and examines how they change with the differing seasons. For instance, the book begins with a scene around a Mighty Oak and all the animals who live there. As readers turn each smaller page flap, they see what it looks like during the other seasons, as well as facts about the environment and animals who inhabit it during each season. The book explores a variety of locations, including the arctic and mangrove trees in Northern Australia.
What I loved: This interactive book is a view of different climates, locations, and the amazing plants and animals that live there. The changes through seasons as well as how those seasons are defined are really interesting. I loved the facts on the back of each partial page flap that give more information and cool facts about some of the animals and trees. This makes it all the more entertaining and educational. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous, and I love the inclusion of so many animals along with their habitats that add some interest and details to keep young attention spans.
The poems at the beginning of each section, as well as those at the beginning and end of the book add some lovely melody to the reading. Although the facts are limited in scope, there is still a lot to learn and think about when we talk about seasons, and I appreciated the way the book introduces the topic of the way plants and animals adapt with the seasons.
Final verdict: Lovely, educational, and interactive, SEASONS is a fun picture book to explore with plenty of locations, changes, and cool facts to learn. Recommend for elementary school aged picture book readers to spark interest in the many topics within.
Please note that I received a review copy. All opinions are my own.
Such a lovely book with beautiful illustrations and very clever use of flaps to show the different seasons. The layout of this book makes it accessible to children of all ages in primary school due to the illustrations that accompany the text. Even without being able to read much or at all, children will be able to understand the changes from season to season through the pictures. The text is also broken down into small points, again making it more accessible. This is a beautiful book which would be a fantastic addition to teaching about seasons in any year group in primary school.
