It’s a let down from book 1.
The fmc is one dimensional and there isn’t any growth on her. Also hated that she was “too special” and by that I mean think of any power or ability and she has it. Air element? Yep - earth element? Yep - fire element? Yep - water element? Obviously yes. Does she turn into a dragon? Yep. Does she have visions of the future? Also yes. Can she read minds ? Yep.
It became ridiculous to be honest.

The relationships got fixed way too quickly after the guys pushing her away. The transition between not being sure to love her was too instant which tells me it was lazy writing.

I was honestly just bored.

1.5 stars bc I’m feeling generous.

She develops even more abilities/powers/gifts etc. She is turning into a Mary Sue.

The author has created the sci-fi equivalent of the quantum flux. Some made up thing that allows the characters to do absolutely impossible things-I mean things that don't even seem realistic or logical. The author has created several 'quantum fluxes' that allow the characters to abracadabra their way out of anything. The h has the sight so anytime something is happening the author can just create a vision to give the h directions on what to do. If that isn't enough the h has her memoria necklace that gives her knowledge or memories from her past- which of course is exactly what she needs exactly when she needs it. But wait there's even more, if the previous 2 things don't work, she can just learn a spell to make something happen.

Which leads to...the amount of abuse that we the readers learn about in book 1 and 2. The abuse is so extreme...I mean so extreme that it boggles the mind that someone could have survived it. By survived, I really mean didn't die, let alone have any sort of sanity. Yet she did and not only did she survive but came out the other side with a high EQ, she's sweet, understanding, intuitive. I don't buy it, rather I don't find that believable. Well, the author figured out the work around to this problem. The h was taught a spell that basically stops a panic attack/flashbacks from happening. Badda Bing. So, the author can keep piling on the truly atrocious heinous violent things the h will go/have gone through because it doesn't need to affect the h since she has the spell. She doesn't have to work through her trauma she can 'spell' it away.

Okay every author needs some plot devices, but there are too many.

A lot of growling… but not the sexy kind. Lots of learning? 2 action scenes in the entire book. But one being the giant cliffhanger that had me instantly picking up book 3.

🔮₊˚ෆ💜ෆ˚₊✨ ♡ THOUGHTS ♡ ✨₊˚ෆ💜ෆ˚₊🔮

“I have five gifts, I was stabbed and almost died, Draken almost died, Tillman could've died, I'm supposed to save this realm, and I just feel fucking lost and confused.”

Willow could not catch a break 😭 MY POOR GIRL. She was absolutely going through it, but her reactions were getting better, and she is slowly adapting and getting used to being a badass and trusting her judgment. Yes, she still cries a lot (and that's okay). She has the Sight, she has mind transference, can sense emotions, etc. IT'S A LOT FOR A GIRL!!! She just wanted to live her best life with her Nexus and instead has to save the realm…. the pressure she's under 😵‍💫 It's not okay!!! Her Nexus teach her their elements, and she's getting the hang of them, so I'm proud of her. It's a lot of burden to carry, especially with Elementra herself talking to her, and she's essentially fulfilling some prophecy. The fact that she has the Sight is so 😵‍💫🥲 I didn't want her to carry that additional burden, but she's so powerful she's collecting all the elements!! Plus, the fact that she continues to be really selfless and sacrifice herself. She never hesitates to put others first. She's always the last person of concern on her mind. My sweetest FMC ever 🥲🥹. How could you not like her!!!

[Draken]

“Draken's so passionate, intensely so. He's a ball of energy that's so freeing, so contagious, you can't help but feed off it. He makes me want to live every day to the fullest any chance I get. Our bond is red.”

He thought he was dying alongside her and was happy doing it because it meant he would be with her, but when he started saying goodbye to his brothers… OH I WAS SICK. Since then, he became clingier than ever and wanted to be attached to her and craved her attention badly because he felt the impact of almost losing her and dying 🥲🥹 Draken is such a precious MMC. When I tell you he is openly and fiercely lovable!!! He will never change. I know and trust that his character and sunshine persona will remain consistent throughout the series (as long as he gets his little wanderer back). I'm genuinely disheartened and worried to see how his dragon will even function without her because he needs her presence to feel sane and calm. He freaks out when she's worried, and he is on guard and in tune with her emotions… not being able to know if she's safe or not 😭 OH THAT WILL RUIN HIM!!! I'm sending a little protection manifestation for Willow, girl, for the sake of my favorite dragon!

My favorite thing to come from this book is that he is so proud of her, and they can be dragons together. He doesn't have to be alone ever again!!🥹💞✨ I love that she is a shifter. The fact that his dragon instincts make him far more possessive than he was before, and he wants to be with her even when the other guys are with her. Forgive him for being Mr. Clingy 🙂‍↔️🥹 This dragon boy needs EXTRA attention and affirmation. He loves to be by her side, carefree, causing chaos, and he is her person. Draken is and brings the drama, but the fun kind. He is overdramatic when it comes to how he shows love, but that's why he's the purest MMC, despite everyone fearing his dragon and him being super powerful. He just has a heart of gold 💛.

When you read this book, you will fall for the others, but Draken is someone who will constantly make you smile with his silly little antics. I don't think he ever made me mad ONCE. He's just someone you can't be upset at because he's so carefree and a bundle of joy. He's a lover boy to his core and cares about his brothers and Willow so much. He loves hugs and physical touch… tell him you love him, and he will BEAM. 🩷💓💗💞💖 He just needs affirmation and reassurance that he's loved and appreciated. If he ever got mad or raised his voice, it was because he was sick out of his mind that he didn't know what was going on with Willow or his brothers… he just wants everyone in a happy little bubble. 🫧 I'm nervous for the third book now because of the cliffhanger 😐.

[Caspian]

“I'll darken this realm. I'll block out the sun until the end of time. Flood every territory until there's no one left but us. You are my light, my only light, Primary. I'll protect you from the darkness, even your own.”

HELLO!!! The way he pours his heart out. He's climbing up the ranks because he tries to be so gentle with his shadows and initiates small physical touches 🥹💖 Okay Cas! He genuinely made an effort to watch over her and be less of a grump, and let his guard down, which is NOT easy for him to do. She set the pace, and he followed it, but once she started wanting more and initiated more contact, it became something he yearned for, and his bond hated being apart from her. He's becoming a worried, clingy MMC too. I was anti Cas in the first book because he was creating drama and being unnecessarily rude, but now the others are noticing how much he's changing and becoming a softer version of himself for Willow!!

“I fucking hate leaving her. It's a bane to my soul.”

Caspian and Willow still have so much to learn from each other, and they need more time. I just know that when he gets her back, he's never going to let her go anywhere alone. But first we need to get her back 🙃 I love how protective he is and how he uses his shadows to reel her in when she needs privacy or a moment to calm down. He settles her with his darkness, and they both have so much going on mentally that they are patient with each other and don't rush their relationship. They are special to me because they are more of a quiet, background love, but it doesn't take away from how much he loves her, and I can't wait for them to fully bond. He loves calling her his Primary because he's proud of her and her abilities and wants her to embrace them. He also would not care about the realm and would protect her above all else. She is his number one priority, forget anyone else. I hope he doesn't lose himself without her, but he also has his brothers alongside him, so he won't be suffering entirely alone. They will all be going through it momentarily.

[Corentin]

“She pushes me out of my comfort zone almost daily, but I wouldn't change it. She's pushing you out of yours now, and I know it's hard, but it's worth it. It's so fucking worth giving in to her,” I tell him honestly.

CORE. He is in need of control and feels better when he knows everyone in his orbit is near him, especially Willow. He loses control, and he gets overwhelmed when he can't keep his people safe, but he is a protector, and Willow will always be his priority. He constantly feels the pressure to keep her safe, and he has to socialize and keep up his image as Headmaster, but above all else, he would give it all up for Willow's safety. She always tests his limits, but she makes him a better person because of it, and he can learn to be less guarded and live in the moment. This time around, without Willow and not being able to control when or how he's going to get her back… he's going to need the help of his brothers to be able to stay sane.

[Tillman]

“Tillman, in my opinion, is the definition of balance. He may have extreme emotions sometimes, but he's levelheaded ninety percent of the time. He makes me feel like I've grown since coming here. He pushes me to be more, to progress. Our bond is green.”

She was willing to DIE to protect him from the fate she saw in her vision. OH THIS IS FAMILY. 👏🥹He would rather die to save her, but she is fiercely loyal, and nothing was stopping her from her endgame!! Willow does not play about her men! The way he was sad because she learned to block him out of her mind so he wouldn't see her visions and change the outcomes… TILL. He went from avoidant to clingy, and I love it. The bond makes him super attached to her, and he non stop thinks about her and wants to be attached at the hip, even when he has to do his training tasks. I'm so proud of him because he's not nonchalant about his feelings anymore. He loves to know what she's thinking and feeling, and he doesn't care that she knows he's all up in her thoughts. Till is so sweet, and I never thought he could be this adorable and wholesome around her. Truly, he's such a caretaker but also heavily prepares her so she can defend herself.

When he was able to command his brothers, even though he didn't mean any ill intent because they were making Willow upset 🥹🙂‍↕️ He also calls her little warrior because he truly believes she's fierce and fully capable of everything she sets her mind to!!! The final scene of them together, and he could feel Willow blocking him out so he wouldn't worry. OH 🙃🙂‍↕️ he's going to internalize that shit.

[Found Family]

“Fortune teller,” Lyker says as a way of greeting after Kyan, Lennox, and Zane all say hey to me.

“Alphahole, how are you?” I ask sarcastically, earning myself a huff from him and chuckles from everyone else.

I want to know more about this dynamic between her and Lyker and why she felt so close to him. Was it because she has the Sight and wanted to protect him??? I NEED MORE CONTEXT!!! He calls her Fortune Teller, and it's giving sibling vibes. I need this to be a fleshed out plot because he gave off "that's her brother" in the way she felt she just trusted him and would have been devastated to lose him. What kind of bond does she have with him 🤨🫠 There is so much lore Willow is carrying without keeping us in the loop too.

🔮₊˚ෆ💜ෆ˚₊✨ ♡ OVERALL ♡ ✨₊˚ෆ💜ෆ˚₊🔮

Why must Willow always suffer🥲? I can't wait for this series to have real domestic scenes where she can live in peace without a threat coming after her left and right. First of all, who is CC? I need to know why my girl is being guided by someone who knows all of this about her and still led her back to her father. I hate that she has the Sight because she's always going to fear possible outcomes. It sucks 😵‍💫. How long is she going to be tortured before her Nexus find her? She's powerful and can survive, but OMG. They are all going to go sick out of their minds without her.

This book is long, but excellent! There is so much going on, both with character growth and the plot. There's action, a bit of mystery, some romance... everything you could possibly want in a book is here!

Willow is coming into even more powers that no one could have expected. She's easily becoming one of the most powerful beings in any of the realms, but they have to keep that as secretive as possible. There's traitors in their midst, someone passing any and all info about them to the Mastery. It's clear Elementra has plans for Willow, and they aren't all going to be what she or her Nexus would hope for.

I have hardly been able to put this series down since starting it, and despite the very late hour that it is, I'm going to dive into book #3!

I absolutely recommend this series to any fantasy fan!

This book suffered from flat info-dumping and relied far too much on lazy deus ex machina plot devices. The FMC became quite the Mary Sue - she suddenly had an abundance of powers and perfectly timed visions to solve any mystery the group couldn't figure out on their own.

The world-building also left me with a lot of logistical questions, particularly regarding the magic system and transports. If they are so useful, why wasn't Willow taught how to do them easily for her safety? She managed it once in this story under duress, but it seemed like a missed opportunity not to make them commonplace or utilize them in battle. Even the possible transport locations felt completely arbitrary.

Most of the book felt like a drag, and I almost ended up skimming just to get to the ending. The smut scenes lacked heat, and I found it unbelievable that a character who endured over a decade of severe assault, ending less than a few months ago, would be so immediately accepting of intimacy, especially the specific types the men preferred.

Between all these issues and reading some reviews of the future books, I didn't believe I would enjoy spending the time finishing the series, so I'm tapping out here.

While I like this series, I do fear it’s getting a little dull and repetitive as it goes on…I will probably still continue it though😅

Well...

The story felt like it was losing its momentum. They were a lot of useless and too dramatic monologue. The guys kept rambling about how much Willow, the FMC, is beautiful, amazing, how much they loved her...🙄 OK, WE KNOW! No need to repeat it every 10 pages! It was annoying. I was bored reading this book at some point... Lets just hope that the next one will be better...

Okay last time i read this i stopped at the 14% and haven’t read it for 6 months, but i am trying again because of another series that is connected to this which I love.

Firstly, the reason why i dnf the book last time was because the fmc just kept getting more and more powers and it’s getting to a point where it’s just ridiculous. I mean, okay we get it your the chosen one, but at this point it just seems like the author just kept adding and adding to make her seem the most special of the bunch. Shes 10x more powerful then her mates, who are one of the most powerful people around, which seems like a bit too much. Every second she gets a new power added to the list of 300+ powers. First she had an air elemental, then earth, fire, then she became a dragon, then, she became a seer, next she could dreamwalk, then she could read minds, then she can track people magically, then she could see people's auras, then she can broadcast images, wait now she has a magical purr that can attract people to her??? What's next? is she gonna shit rainbow bricks?? Like whats going on here??

Shes also obviously so good at each and every single ability she gets after 2 minutes of practicing and “finding the magic within” shes also somehow better than people who practiced for decades. Oh okay so what i am hearing is that not only does she have an absurd amount of gifts and powers and extra shit, but she also tops everybody in everything and there is not one thing shes not bad at. Interesting huh? Oh and if shes not good at something all she needs to do is breathe and think of her men. BOOM 30 years of talent magically appears at the palm of her hand, ready to be used.

The magic is so confusing, like how does it work? There is one main source of this realm and it speaks to the fmc? There is a pocket dimension and it makes no sense, The fmc has all of these powers but with a spell she gains new abilities like i have no idea what’s going on here. There are all these sorts of spells but why does nobody use them except Gaster, Willow and Oakley? Like everyone just uses their own powers but they are always wanting more power. i’m just saying that if these spells are so powerful, simple, and easy to do, why does nobody use them?? And whenever something comes up and Willow has a problem, boom— no need to worry, Gaster is here to save the day, with his suspiciously oddly descriptive convenient spell that somehow perfectly describes the situation they are in and fixes it.

And the growls AND purrs- like calm down. Why is everyone growling like crazy? Its cringe and the amount of times her men growled at her which turned her on and caused them to do the bumbayaya is crazy. Like calm down please.

Not to mention every five minutes the poor girl gets fucking attacked by her men with kisses and make out sessions. Like okay one moment they are practicing her powers and the next they are naked, how does every chapter end with an orgy???

Sure, they are soulmates and whatever but cmon. Something else that makes me cringe is when every single time Willow does something minimal like jump or use her powers for something her men are always like
“Shes amazing. Shes so fucking amazing. I can’t believe this beautiful, amazing, gorgeous, smart, intelligent, thoughtful, caring, kind, strong woman is mine. Shes so fucking addictive.”

I feel like the men just coddle her around and get turned on for everything? Like shes always shoved on someone’s lap and switched every 5 seconds because they all want her at the same time. She gets carried around like they can’t afford her to use her damn legs. How is it possible that, for example, shes tired and then her men are like, “Shes exhausted— i can feel it through the bond. I love her so fucking much I can feel my heart explode through my chest. She always sacrifices herself for somebody— even if they don’t deserve it blah blah blah can’t believe she has this responsibility blah blah blah wait now i’m getting a boner let’s fuck her) OKAY. Where does that come from and why does the author force unnecessary smut where it doesnt belong. And then even though shes half asleep she goes along with it and when her men ask if shes okay shr says she fees as fresh as a daisy. Bitch u just woke up but okay do whatever u want.

That damn girl is always sacrificing herself for everything and they are situations that could be obviously and easily avoided but she convinces everybody that it HAS to be this way… for what exactly?? Like why did she have to get stabbed because that didn’t affect the plot at all it just caused her men to coddle her more. And she has all these visions and she can’t tell anybody and acts super mysterious half the time and even we don’t know what’s going on in her mind, like nothing. How are we finding out things later in the book that she apparently had a vision for when it just seems like the author just squeezes some extra drama for everybody to praise Willow and her ten million abilities. How does everyone put up with Willow i don’t know. What’s the author trying to do i swear. I just close my eyes and sigh and just tell myself to keep going but it’s getting difficult

Whenever a girl smiles in this book it’s always described as a “saucy smirk/smile/grin” and the girls in this book are always sassy and have the same personality as each other. Even Willow. Surprising huh? I guess the author spent too much time making her seem special with her powers rather than her personality. Yet her men always talk about how different her character is compared to others.

And shes always crying. Always. She misses her men and she starts crying, shes tired and she starts crying, shes talking about her men and she starts crying, she got a new power and she starts crying. You get the memo. Shes always crying

Her trauma isnt talked about enough. This is something i see in many books. They always have a brooding man who is rude and disrespectful because of his trauma (for example Caspian) who act like shits to the fmc at the start. Meanwhile, if the fmc goes through the same thing, well, its nothing. She cries about it but that’s it. Its just flabbergasting to me that she isn’t allowed to act like how they would act realistically. Not to mention what Willow went through was probably jsut as bad, or even worse than what Caspian went through. Throughout the past two books her trauma has dismissed and was only mentioned for in like three chapters, which pissed me off. This book is about nothing but magic, Willow, smut, and how special Willow is. I hope it gets better.

Edit: It doesn't, and it is so similar to the Bonds That Tie series but extra worse.

"Little wanderer" makes me want to punt a small child. It was cute at first, but it's really starting to frustrate me. I have no clue why.

I love the whole tortured hero/heroine thing. The ptsd symptoms are pretty well done, too. Willa Rae is also really great at world-building, and the level at which she does so reminds me of Marie Mistry's reverse harem series. I really like that they tend to be very story-driven instead of character-driven driven like a lot of reverse harems tend to be.
There was just something about this one that didn't work for me. I'm unsure if it was a me problem or something about the book that I just couldn't get into. I do tend to dislike seer magic unless there are some parameters for control. I found the fact that Tillman is a mind reader to be really conflicting with the whole needing to keep things secret aspect. Maybe it's just me, but when I'm stressed or worried about something, the intrusive thoughts crank it up to obsessive. It would constantly stream under my normal thoughts. That could be abnormal though. Maybe I'm being too critical.
I did enjoy this one and after that ending, I am going to be reading the next one now. ....Even though I promised myself I'd clear out my currently reading list. Pre-oops.

What the absolute fu*k was that?!

🫣 Please excuse my language. The book had a slow start, even a bit past the halfway point, and it ended with an unexpected and upsetting cliffhanger! At least I can immediately dive into the next book, but I’m afraid of getting to the fourth book since the fifth book isn’t out yet. With all the action happening in the book, I’m just… oh my gosh, I’m so nervous! On the positive side, the book series is really awesome in terms of world-building, it’s interesting, and it’s an amazing romance fantasy read. I love Willow’s relationship with her men. Caspian is pulling on my heartstrings, Draken is so adorable, Corentin is very serious but very loving in his own way, and Tillman is strong, kind, and most of all they are all super protective and love Willow very much! I’m so ready for the rest of this book series, and I can’t wait for more!

This is action-packed. I actually enjoy how she learns things and somehow this feels like a series where there are a lot of episodes leading to the action. Honestly these new gifts are beginning to be extremely confusing. But for some reason I still kind of interested in what’s next.

A little long, but worth it

I enjoyed the challenge of this book; so many novels in this genre are quick reads. I read for a living, and this one took longer than usual for me. The story unfolded beautifully. I don't know how I'll manage to patiently wait for the next one!

Captivating series

This series has definitely got me in its grip. I've stayed up multiple nights in a row, past my bed time just to learn more. The plot, the characters, the relationships...everything is intriguing and keeps my attention locked in. Book three is going to feel like a long wait!

Disclaimer: I’m going to review it without spoilers at the top, then create a line and anything below that line will be spoilers. Do with that what you will.

This book has me really on the fence. There’s some details of the book that I absolutely loved and others that made me want to pull my hair out, which has me unsure how much I’m loving this book/series. Many commonalities in fantasy/romantasy books that irk me are present in this book but also there’s some great world building and unique traits in this series too.

It’s getting the rating it is because I love some of the unique details, but candidly once this series is finished, I’ll never pick up this series ever again. The details are great, the characters overall kinda are…meh.

What I liked:
- Everything around elements and gifts is top tier in this series. Different shifters, unique powers, expanded understanding of more common powers, etc.
- I love an underdog/wounded little soul, so Caspian has my heart. And I loved seeing his development in this book. Him and Draken I loved, when candidly Corentin and Tillman need more time and development in my eyes.
- I said it about the first book but I love the idea of found family and seeing everyone (not just the FMC) grow and develop into their best selves is great.
- When Willow is spunky, I loooove her. Oakley is commonly opinionated and vocal and I’d rather her be the FMC tbh because she takes no shit.
- There’s some great comedic writing in this series that had me laughing several times.

What I didn’t like:
- I hate authors making FMCs more “palatable” as a series progresses. Willow does what’s needed and has some sassy comments, but she’s just getting weaker and more subservient and doing things to not upset her men with their fucked up stuff and it just shows she’s chipping away at herself. It’s so dull. People are complex being and you can be in love, stand on your own two feet, and also be submissive at times. But I just feel like it comes of inauthentic and shows a personality shift just to make her in “love”.
- The FMC coddling. She’s a powerful bitch, give her the respect that she deserves. There’s a difference between being protective and having her have all these powers and sitting on the sidelines until a very serious moment where they’d still try and prevent her.
- These characters are throwing the L word around, but really there’s not that much development in getting to know the men. More of it is talked about vs experiencing scenes where they’re chatting, getting to know one another, etc. When they have individual scenes, it’s to fuck and that’s about it it seems. Very exhausting and unrealistic.
- Some stuff just seems a little too rushed. Build out these scenes more.
- These books are long and chapters are LONG, and sometimes it gets to be exhausting. Especially when they go back when the prior chapter started to showcase another person’s POV.

SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT
————————————————————

What I liked:
- Caspian taking her nightmares each night is so stinking adorable. He just can’t help but be pulled in by her.
- Willow being able to change her size of her dragon was super cool!
- The gift of sight isn’t unique but the portrayal of it in this book was interesting. Past and future sight, dream jumping, understanding intentions, and understanding what’s hidden truly is SIGHT.
- Willow & Caspian’s first kiss was so sweet and delicate and hesitant. I loved it and it’s everything I needed.
- I like how we don’t find out about some of her visions so that the readers are surprised. Just mention she’s having one and her reactions to it.
- Layton being a chameleon shifter was cool! Unique shifters are badass and how he’s a desired strength/ass even being a little guy.
- Caspian, Caspian, Caspian. Everything him. Him saying that he’ll blacken the world for her…swoon. Him fighting himself but wanting to give her everything. Him hugging Draken when he’s losing his shift. He’s just such a sweet guy in a “rough” exterior to the world. Can’t wait to find out more about him!
- Exposure to the royalty and how the high families are involved was exciting. I knew Gima was gonna be a villain and can’t wait to see it come to fruition.
- Willow getting territorial over the secretary was everything I needed. Willow territorial in general is just an absolute vibe.
- Willow sacrificing herself and her men’s reactions were intense for the alpha trials. I also love Aria and want to see more of her. I kinda wanted her to have another “sister” too with the same bond as Oakley. Bummed that didn’t happen but oh well.
- Willow getting all her bonds’ powers is such an interesting take and I love it.

Favorite quotes:
- “Good shit, it worked.” I say excitedly. The smile fades from his face as he looks at me in shock. “Wait, you didn’t even know if that was going to work?” // This was hilarious and I love her just saying good shit.
- If this is his brand of worshipping, I’ll gladly be his offering. // LOVE when a guy just wants to pleasure a woman and worship her. And it’s always him saying this so her recognizing this was fantastically done.

What I didn’t like:
- 12% in and Draken is already saying he loves her. But they really don’t know each other. Also, instantly jumping to sex after they just held back info from her, no real discussion or dabbling to test the water. Just seems unrealistic especially with her being repeatedly raped in the past. This SA for a plot twist/trauma while not giving it the respect it deserves is exhausting and I hate when authors do it.
- I reallllllly want Corentin to give up his control and have her do a dominant moment. But she gives into him over and over again and it’s exhausting. You have 4 dudes in this…one of them can be on the subbier side!
- Why is Willow put on the sidelines all the time!? This whole “she’s super powerful but rarely is allowed to do shit” trope that authors love to do is so stupid. She shouldn’t even need to be “allowed”. Go fuck shit up babe and tell your men to fuck off if they don’t follow!
- Corentin and Tillman are just there. Haven’t learned anything about them really. Towards the end, Tillman actually showcases some sweetness to him. But he’s clocked this romantic and other than him whipping up some material things, I haven’t seen much to be romantic. His sex scene was good and romantic though. Corentin just is always controlling things and Willow doesn’t even prod much anymore. She’s just been weak and pathetic and allows it. I’d love him being controlling if she was constantly pushing back and revoking his control and stuff.

Pretty good

I expected the ending when it was announced that guy broke the gem that shows their gps position. As much as I expected though, I truly wished it wouldn’t come to that. It’s one parting shot that gets the readers to be eager to read the next book. Clever but heart wrenching. I despise stories that lead to a character being taken and reading about their torture. Also the heart break and confusion of their loved ones. Not something I can relate to but it’s always a fear that it could happen. I mean not with the paranormal stuff but real life situations.
I did enjoy get getting to know the guys. Seems this was Tillmans book, Draken was first, I imagine Corentin will be next, and Caspian last. I really hope that this type of kidnapping doesn’t last a whole book. I am looking forward to when the guys find her and she can go home to them.

Disappointing

I like the characters, the magic system, and the basic plot, BUT… holy moly, this book (#2) was way too dragged out! I felt like I was reading a bunch of filler material. Soooo much useless and repetitive flirtation and internal dialogue about how they feel about each other. Okay, we get it…. the guys are hot and they think she’s a goddess, and they all give each other heated looks a million times a day. Ugh

There was just way too much redundancy and very little substance or relevant info that propelled the story forward. Unless you consider convenient info dumps to be substance. And omg, I lost count how many times the fmc and her men apologize to each other because they feel guilty over something stupid.

I feel like books 1 and 2 should have been edited down into one book. Not sure if I’ll read the 3rd.

I rarely complain about a FMC being too special and having crazy plot armor, but this takes the cake as the most overpowered Mary sue FMC. She gets every power known to elementra, and everything is way too easy for her. She gets EVERYTHING.

Draken is cute, that’s all.

I absolutely love this series!! I didn’t think I could be on board with a RH romantasy but here I am loving it! RH stands for reverse harem, for those who don’t know. The female has 4 male love interests. It would be MMFMM. It’s yummy is what it is! Not only does she do an excellent job developing characters, she also does a great job of continuing to develop the world building and a killer plot. Bravo!!

The 4 men are part of a completed Nexus and they are Tillman(earth bender), Caspian (water bender), Corentin (air bender) and Draken (fire bender). You learn that a completed Nexus must have one of each elemental power plus a true primary to bring them all together. Willow is the true primary to the Vito nexus (that’s what the collective group is called). At the end of the first book you learn that she’s their true primary but they hid it from her. In this book, all of the men are trying to make up for the fact that they hid the fact they knew she was their true primary, for various reasons.

The characters all have issues and past trauma they are dealing with and Willow helps them through all of that. To completely seal the bond, they must have sex. She is drawn towards Draken the most since he was the first to accept and love her so they have sex first and it’s so touching. The author does such a good job drawing them closer together and sealing their bonds! I just love this part of the story. Willow also bonds (has sex) with Tillman in this book. It’s one of my fav scenes! He takes her to their tree house retreat and it’s such a magical scene. You have to read it to find out all the details!! Willow also starts to melt the heart of Corentin and Caspian, even though they don’t have sex in this book, they do touch her more and begin to let her in. It’s so warming and leaves you wanting to find out how she finally breaks those 2 down to complete their bonds.

In the first of this book, Willow (the FMC) begins to learn more about herself and memories that are trapped within a memoria stone. The first of the book has you learning more about “the rebel group” that the men know about. Then you realize the “husband” that abused her and the man she must call her father are part of a cult-ish group called the mastery. The Rebel group and the mastery are one and the same.

Willow begins to learn she has the sight and her first vision has her telling some new character (Lyker) that he should enter into a contest to become the new alpha of the pack. As the plot progresses, the group actually goes to watch the competitor win the tournament and become the new Alpha. But, you also must witness how her gift of sight brings her near to her own death. As her visions show her, she must jump in front of the poisoned dagger to save Lyker and one of the main male leads, Tillman. Thankfully, she already saw it happening in her visions and she had the cure to the poison contained in her pocket realm. With her BFF’s help (Oakley) she is able to get the antidote and they save Willow’s life.

Next, you find out that she’s been dream walking into someone’s dreams and they find a woman that’s been trapped in a cave (Aria) and she has a rare gift that is helpful in removing and/or blocking the runes that the mastery members try placing on their members minds. As they come back from the cave from rescuing Aria, they are tasked with unveiling the mastery members that have been hiding within the wolf pack. They are able to determine who are loyal to the rebels and they take some of them prisoner. As they begin to learn more about the mastery members, the more the plot evolves into determining how long the mastery has been controlling and trying to wreak havoc on the realm of Elementra.

You learn more about Gaster (her bonded grandpa) and how she is also bonded to Oakley (her bonded best friend) and I just love both of these characters! Willow’s whole life has been full of trauma and abuse and it’s hard to watch and remember sometimes but the relationships she’s building with all of her bonded people help pull her out of those horrors. The author does such a good job of giving her soul what it needs to thrive and the bonded relationships are such a huge part of that. You’ll have to read more to find out just how they change her!

The ending of the book she is captured by the mastery and you know her men are going to stop at nothing to get her back! Willow is so eager to sacrifice herself for others, it’s a bit infuriating but that’s just who she is.

I highly recommend this series! This is book 2 of 5 that will complete the series. Book 1-3 are already released and book 4 comes out Dec 16, 2024 with the 5th and final book set to be released in April 2025. I cannot wait to see what Willa (the author) has in store for Willow and her Nexus!!! I’ll be watching and waiting for the next books. Let’s do this!🙌♥️

DNF @ 75% (so you know I REALLY tried. I gave it my all, but I just could not slog through it anymore)

I wasn't expecting to love book 2, but I was expecting some sort of improvement from book 1. I felt generous rating the first 3 stars, considering it was a debut. And I thought it was a relatively fun read despite being riddled with grammatical errors (normally, I don't criticize bad grammar too harshly, especially on self-published works. but this is just really bad) and, frankly, the stupidest, most unrealistic magic system I have ever come across.

We're promised a fmc who grows into her power and transforms into a confident, badass heroine. Instead, what we get is Willow. I'll give credit where credit is due, she's a survivor and deserves high praise for being fairly well-adjusted as a 26 year old victim of abuse. But it's still ridiculous how overpowered she is, by book 2, with zero effort. Every issue she runs into is magically solved with a hyperspecific spell that her guardian/mentor seemingly pulls out of his ass (truly a fountain of knowledge), always conveniently the exact spell she needs for her very unique problems. She's also on track to possess, and master, every element and gift known to man, which would be cool to see. But she's not just overpowered, she's also just a natural with her magic and has absolute control over her gifts. No effort is necessary for Willow, incredible! (read sarcasm)

Powering through the laundry list of other problems I have with this series: the romance is dull, there are too many characters and the author doesn't know what to do with them so the characters have no depth (there's potential but it keeps falling flat), the world building is a massive info dump that just won't end and makes very little sense, the conflict is written like the author was coming up with ideas on the spot and isn't sure what the overall plot is going to be, the story is both too long and also needs to be fleshed out (quality over quantity, please), and again the grammar is just... bad.

Frankly, I'm bored. And I'm irritated that I wasted my time hoping it would get better.

I knew I was right when I said this series would become one of my favorites — and if it keeps going like this, it definitely will be. This book is long, and that’s exactly why I loved it. Everything unfolds in its own time, with care and depth, never rushed or shallow, which really shows how much thought went into building this world. The characters are all amazing (yes, even the enemies I’d happily get rid of). I love Willow — she’s fantastic: vulnerable yet strong, sweet yet sassy. The guys are each complicated in their own way, and with some more than others, Willow develops genuinely meaningful relationships. I can’t wait to read the next book and uncover more secrets — especially from those who still haven’t fully opened up.

Writing/Plot: The writing remains intense and atmospheric, perfectly matching the story’s darker tones. The pacing is tight—there’s no downtime, and the plot keeps building with new layers of secrets and danger. This book deepens the narrative, focusing on internal conflict, ancient magic, old enemies, hidden truths, and high-stakes action.
Characters: Willow continues to grow — stronger, but also more conflicted. She’s no longer just reacting; she’s making choices, even when they hurt. Draken, Corentin, Tillman and Caspian are more developed. We learn what drives them, what they fear, and why Elementra chose them. Their flaws and strengths are revealed now, making their interactions more real and raw.
Relationships: The relationships deepen significantly. Accepting their bonds with her isn’t instantaneous or easy; it’s a process rooted in fear, longing, and the slow unraveling of personal defenses that each member of the Vito Nexus has kept hidden. Willow’s connection with each of them shifts from tentative to transformative, shaped by moments of vulnerability, hard-earned trust, and choices that carry real consequences.
Worldbuilding: Elementra’s world expands significantly — new layers of history, magic, and prophecy come to light. The magic system is explored in more depth, revealing intricacies that make it feel grounded. The setting is mythic and ancient, charged with mystery with a lingering sense that many truths still lie buried beneath the surface.

the ending almost made it a three

Book 1 was so so so good. It kept my attention and I blew through it. This one, not so much. I’m not sure what the issue was. I enjoyed the closeness of the Nexus. I enjoyed the Alpha Trials and meeting _______. But … there was just something off.

We did more world building and learned more powers and gifts and I just don’t understand why some of these people are so confused.

- how is it that no one knows she’s the Primary. CASPIAN LITERALLY ONLY REFERS TO HER AS THAT AND IS ONLY WITH “the heirs”
- why didn’t we know there were double agents?? You’ve been fighting these people some 20 years, and you never considered that?!
- how do their parents not know about her??? It’s not surprising they’ve never taken down Mastery
- why are we talking back when this is life or death?! Do what you’re told.

This book seemed so much more … convoluted? Perhaps the stakes were too high and with little pay off? I appreciate that the Nexus is strong even if she needs to complete two more bonds. I don’t know why we’re dragging our feet on that. I don’t get why we’re get to see some visions and not others, should’ve known it would lead to the cliffhanger but it felt lame. Unjustified. I simply don’t understand how her seemingly human father is involved. Him and the husband better have gifts or I’ll lose my mind.

Overall, everything character development was fun. I enjoyed seeing everyone interacting. It was the story itself in this one that kept me from breezing through it, I kept putting it down or avoiding it. Definitely anxiety inducing. I also don’t understand the title. What did the stone do this book? The first book title made sense. I’m still trying to think of something specific from the stone.

Update: After reading book 3, this was a three star read cause that one is easily four stars.

2.5 stars (because even after how much I disliked 80% of the book, I’m still going to read the next one after that cliffhanger).

This series has a lot of potential. It has so many of the highly popular tropes and has set itself in a fantasy setting that can continue to be built out.

Unfortunately, I think this was 200 - 300 pages too long. We are inundated with long, tedious details about all of Willow’s lessons and every single magical ability (of which she masters all of them on the first try, of course). I didn’t even mind the fact that new powers and abilities were popping up like daisies, but I got bored with the amount of time we read about her practicing them or all the theory.

Then there are her mates/bonds. 50- 60% of this book is Willow whining whenever she spends more than 5 minutes away from one of them. And then they keep talking over and over about how much stronger they’ll all be and how much more stable the bond will be once they all “bond” with her…but it doesn’t happen! She’s having sex with 2 of them and we have to continually read about how jealous the other 2 are, but she never gives them a turn? WHYYYYYY!? It makes no sense to me.

And lastly: the overuse of her nicknames. I don’t know any relationship where someone exclusively uses their partner’s nickname instead of the real name. Every time Draken talks about his “little wanderer” I want to 🤮.

That all being said: I was 100% committed to stopping the series after this book, until I got to that cliffhanger. Sigh. So there’s that 🤷🏼‍♀️

She has gone and done it again, blowing our minds with her amazing story telling. I thought book 1 'gift from the tree' was good, book 2 is even better.

In this book we watch Willow and her boys grow stringer together, the growth between them all is just so damn powerful and beautiful.

Slowly more pieces slot into place as we get to learn more about her role in this breath taking story. Willow has really flourised in this book, despite the fear and pressure she now has on her shoulders she his so brave and stronger than she knows.

Some of the scenes in this book ripped my heart to pieces, but made up for it with the most mind blowing steamy scenes ever. But again we are left with my questions and the most frustrating cliff hanger ever.

I can't wait to dive into book 3 already.

Amazing work Willa, you do know how to capture our hearts and keep it tethered to these amazing well thought out characters. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy such a powerful story and be a part of your beautiful mind. Your world is trully magical behond belief.

Bring on more adventures with Willow and her bad ass men in book 3!
