Sitting Moon

Rate this book
In the west, the focus in postpartum care has been on the new child. Here is a book for the new mother! The information in Sitting Moon will bring mothers-to-be and professionals involved in taking care of new mothers from birth planning through the first month postpartum. Just as today's health protocols often use integrative care, Sitting Moon breaks the ground by combining western knowledge with health-building tools of the east such as acupressure, Chinese nutrition and chi movement exercise. Includes recipes and resources.

Very informative. I was looking for a book on evidence-based traditional Chinese postpartum practices as I am pregnant and my mom wants to do it. She knows that doing or not doing certain things can produce certain outcomes, but hasn’t been able to explain why.

This book fit my criteria, mostly, but there were some aspects that were unexplained, like why or how acupuncture works, and what studies have there been to prove it.

Still, this is a good starting point. My husband read this book too, and he said he had never realized just how difficult pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery can be.
