Trapped in a life dictated by others, I yearned for freedom. But my pursuit of independence led me down a dangerous path I never could have anticipated.
What began as a lifeline quickly unravelled into a nightmare. The deal was meant to help get my life back on track. Instead, it pulled me into a whirlwind of chaos and self-destruction.
Amidst the haze of sex, drugs, and bad decisions, I find an unexpected him. His touch ignites a fire within me and I can't seem to get him out of my head.
As I teeter on the edge of self-destruction, he offers salvation—or damnation. With every choice, I risk losing myself further, but with him, I glimpse a flicker of hope.
In a world where every decision could mean my downfall, I must Embrace the darkness or find my way back to the light, back to him.
This was supplied to me as an ARC and all opinions and thoughts are 100% my own.
First off... Damn cliff hangers. If anyone needs me I'll be reading book two.
This story reminded me, just a little, of Haunting Adeline, but better. It had more class and less trigger warnings. A morally grey MMC, an unstable but relatable FMC, and featured by favourite who did this to you trope. If your looking for a short but satisfying read this is definitely your book!
This book was hard to get into at first because of all the content that it had you get through to get to the good stuff. But once you get through the bad, you get the really really good. It’s just like life!
I really appreciate how this author took us through the life of Evi just like we were living it. from the clubbing to the highs and lows and everything in between it was very immersive. For me at least.
Now, I just really need the second book!!(stomping feet)
4.5/5 ⭐️ Oh my goodness. Where do I even start? I received this book from Sunny Babe PR as an ARC! Holy smokes is this book an emotional roller coaster. I was hooked from the start. E.A. Wilde’s writing is intoxicating. I could not put this book down- I haven’t been this hooked to a book since reading the Mind F*ck Series. I cannot wait to read book #2 in the series!
I had the honour of having the arc sent to me and MY GOD!!! THIS WAS PERFECTION!!! You love the main characters, Jax and Evi. Literally obsessed with them!! But if you’re like me and you’re a sucker for a side character… RYAN 😍
The book was officially released today but I need book 2 like now lol. That cliffhanger has me rolling on the floor
I want to thank Sunny Babe PR for this arc but I just didn't like it that much.
I didn't find it that well written, even though I'm not a writer myself, you can just feel that something in the narration was off. The pace was all over the place. The character had zero development. I kinda get the way the FMC was feeling and what she did afterwards, but that was just a lot and not entirely believable. She was annoying and took zero responsibility for anything. She blamed every one, her best friend even, and she just was okay with the way she was treated.
The book ended in a cliffhanger but I don't think I'll come back for book 2.
I think we made the right choice picking this one as our inaugural readalong pick. It had enough drama for us to be able to react to and discuss, but still hold enough space for serious discussions. This was by no means a light book to read - having themes of SA, drug abuse and the likes, but it dove deep into the way someone could get pushed into the world of that and the several layers of toxic relationships that arise from it.
I do wish that there was a little more exploration and expansion between the first and second act, as well in the development of the relationship between our cast of characters. But, overall, this was a solid debut.
This one grabbed me right off the bat and still hasn’t let go. I love how Poison Ivy is a strip club, but also a safe space for Evi. They aren’t usually portrayed that way. But let’s talk about RYAN. This Labrador, henchman side character stole the show for me. This ends on a scary, intense cliffhanger so have Save Me ready to go! HIGHLY recommend 🖤
Thank you to @sunnybabepr and @authore.a.wilde for sending me this book for the opportunity to review it!
Let me just start by saying… WOW. Find Me by E.A. Wilde absolutely knocked the wind out of me. I don’t normally have any triggers, but this book is HEAVY—you’ve been warned. The trigger warnings are at the end of the review! And yet, I couldn’t put it down. It’s a masterclass in tension and heartache that’ll have you clutching your chest. It had me whisper-yelling “Evi baby, you’re stressing me out, STOP IT!”
Yes I’m reading yet another book about a 20-something main character confused about their path in life. I’m starting to see a theme here… I digress. Evi’s journey is a rollercoaster of emotions that I couldn’t look away from. The stakes, the danger, the heartbreak—every page had me on edge. As a thriller girly, this was RIGHT up my alley. Wilde blends intense thrills and romance so seamlessly that I didn’t know whether I wanted to scream or swoon half the time.
And that ending??? YOU CANNOT END THE BOOK LIKE THAT, OMG. I was sat bolt upright in my bed at 1:30am because I HAD to know what happened next. No joke, I immediately bought Save Me (book two in the series 👀) because there was no way I could wait to dive back into this world.
If you love a book that’ll emotionally wreck you in the best way, with twists, turns, and intense romance, Find Me is IT. An unforgettable, five-star read. Just be prepared to have your life completely derailed for a day or two because you won’t be able to think about anything else. 💔✨ Trigger warnings: explicit sex scenes, explicit language, use of illicit substances, overdose scene, dubious consent, implied sexual assault, childhood abuse (past), murder (off page), assault
Its been a long time since I signed up for this arc and I honestly forgot what this book was going into it. I read the trigger warnings and continued on. I was hooked from the dedication to the point I finished this book.
This was a dark and emotional journey following Evi as she learns some hard lessons and makes some bad decisions in pursuit of her independence.
As a debut novel this was a powerful, gripping read of how quickly the choices we make can lead us down a path we don’t expect, how quickly things can spiral out of control, and how hard it is to claw yourself out of the darkness. A lot of the time I questioned why Evi was continuously making these choices but that’s the thing, there is so much going on in people’s head that it doesn’t make sense to us. As a reader not in the situation it was easy for me to sit back and say “why are you doing this?! This is a bad choice!”, but in life we all make bad choices at times. What matters is if you learn and grow for those bad choices to become better for them.
I finished this book in less then 24 hours and I’m ready to move onto book two right away and follow along as Evi continues her journey.
Please check the trigger warnings before going into this book.
Thank you to Sunny Babe PR and EA Wilde for the opportunity to read this arc in exchange for an honest review.
She is at a club dancing her heart out with her best friend Sam. It is her go-to place to let everything go for at a night. Forget that her family disowned her after she dropped out of law school. Forget that her dreams of being an artist is getting more discouraging as each art gallery turns her work away. Forget that she has no one who cares.
She wakes up the next morning with a hangover and disoriented. How did she get here? She is in her bedroom, but she is wearing pajamas from her stepmother which she had hidden and never wore. Then she remembers the gorgeous man she bumped into at the bar. He got her safely home and after getting her comfortable left only leaving a note... without a name.
Evi is surprised when she receives a message about an interview at the club Poison Ivy. Not knowing her friend had applied for her knowing she needed a job that paid more than the diner where she was currently a waitress. Sam demands they go to The Heat to dance, drink and celebrate.
Since she met her boyfriend Rhett two months ago at the diner she had been neglecting her girl's nights with Sam. He is everything her family would love. Smooth Southern charm and a law degree. When he offers to help her with her past due bills she reluctantly agrees to his loan not realizing what she has agreed to.
This book is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. First a warning, this book has a cliffhanger... a massive HEA taken away cliffhanger. That being said I can't wait for the next book.
Evi is on a path of destruction not realizing until it was too late that her boyfriend wasn't who she thought he was. But then she sees the face of her savior. A man who she is warned against, but who makes her finally feel safe.
This book is full of triggering items so beware... drug abuse, overdose, violence, sexual abuse and non-consent. She let the wolf in sheep's clothing lead her down a destructive path and finds an unlikely savior who would burn down the world for her.
It has a slow start as Evi spirals out of control with cocaine and pills, but it is worth getting through and the ending is totally unexpected. This book may have taken us on the dark side of drugs, but I feel book 2 is going to a much darker story as Evi fights for her life.
This is EA Wilde's first book and can't wait to see what comes next.
This was a relatively short dark romance read that got my attention from the first chapter! I really enjoyed this book & getting to know the main characters although I must admit the MMC’s bestie/right hand man was my fav character. You can’t help but love his Labrador energy. There are several hard hitting topics in this book so be sure to check the trigger warnings before diving in. Also, be warned there is a cliffhanger so you’ll be begging for more and immediately running for book 2! Thank you so much EA Wilde & SunnyBabePR for an ARC of this!
Was a nice reprieve from the trauma that is ZA lol. I read this in one sitting cuz I related a lot to what Evi was going through. Felt her story arc was very similar to mine irl. Shitty, toxic ex; running away from her problems by self-sabotaging. Unfortunately I didn’t have my own Jax to help me get through my issues haha but overall I enjoyed this book and I need to read the second asap cuz wtf was that ending?!! Sorry girls of ACOTAH I’m already finished book 1 and starting book 2 without ya 😂
I enjoyed this read. The spice took a bit to kick in so I was growing impatient but when it hit IT HIT. The FMC drove me a bit crazy, I have a hard time reading about people making the same mistakes over and over again without learning but that’s my personal issue. If you enjoy a morally grey, tattooed, burn the world for you MMC then I highly recommend this book to you.
"Find Me" by EA Wilde is a touching story about love and self-discovery. The writing is engaging, and the characters are relatable, making it easy to connect with their journeys. The book explores themes of identity and relationships, leaving readers with much to think about. It's a heartfelt read that resonates well.
What a debut by E.A. Wilde! I read the book in one day. I found it to be such a refreshing twist on a dark romance. This book ticked all the boxes...great characters, steamy, addictive story lines, and surprise endings!! 🌶🤯📚 Can't wait for book 2!
This dark romance novel follows Evi, a woman striving for independence after severing ties with her wealthy family to pursue her artistic dreams. Her journey leads her into a toxic relationship and a descent into self-destructive behaviors. Which many times in the book Evi really upset me with the choices she made, ugh. With all this chaos, she encounters Jax, a mysterious figure whose protective nature offers her a chance at redemption. The spice level is 3/5 It was steamy with well-written scenes that balance emotional intimacy with physical passion. There are some scenes in the book that shows her toxic relationship with her previous bf. The spicy moments are fused into the plot naturally, adding depth to the characters' relationship. If you enjoy a slow burn that explodes into heat, this book is it. This novel ends with a compelling cliffhanger, leaving me on the edge and screaming NOOOOOO. I need to know what happens next. On to book 2 I go.
Couldn't put this book down! Storyline is really good and flows really well. Evi has a lot of issues she working on through the book and everytime you think yes she's got it figured out something else comes up. Get ready to add Jax to your book boyfriend line up and while hes a supporting character Ryan definitely needs a swoon worthy mention ❤️. This book does end on a cliffhanger which will leave you itching for the sequel!
If you're looking for a dark romance to start your year, this is a great choice. Troubled FMC who keeps spiraling further out of control and a morally grey, only for her/touch her and die, MMC. Yes please!
Wilde produces a great debut showing with Find Me. I was emotionally attached to the characters and didn't want to put the book down. I probably would have finished in a single day if I didn't have to eventually leave the house to adult. The writing flowed well, with a good pace that kept me engaged. The characters were relatable and you could empathize with Evi's situation. I'm not typically one for pet names but when Jax calls her "love" with that English accent I was here for it. Add in loveable side character Ryan ( where can I get me one of him please) and I was hooked.
And damn that cliff hanger. Now I have to sit here and impatiently wait for book two to be written.
Thank you to SunnyBabePR and the author for my arc in return for an honest review!
Allow me to remove my jaw from the floor before I point out that this is a debut novel and to say that I am impressed is an understatement. It was a refreshing take on a contemporary dark romance that had a really in-depth plot for the length of it (I read it in a few sits). We sort of glossed over a lot of the build up part of the story, but in a way that just gets us closer to Mr. morally Grey faster which is what we all really want here.
Mr. Turner - more like Mr. Crime Lord who tucks this woman in to bed. Mr. Everyone else better be scared of me but never you love. Jax is something else. I was concerned he fell too hard too fast, but I fell for him after one page so really which one of us is the walking red flag 🚩
And our FMC Evi is a stunning artist dancing in the club with paint in her hair who can’t sell her art and upends her seemingly perfect life that leaves her feeling alone and unfulfilled and spirals into a storm of poor choices. As we go along for this ride with her and feel all of her pain so thoroughly, but we just wish she could see herself the way Jax does. It’s not a light and fluffy read - I recommend you check TW for this one.
Even the side characters had me giggling and I’ve already put in my informal request that Ryan needs his own book.
I loved this book and I love you for sharing it with me before the release date, but I don’t know if I can forgive you for the way this ended. I guess we will find out when Book 2 is released…
I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.
This book completely sucked me in! I stayed up to 3am without even realising I just had to keep reading. From the little tease in the prologue to the world wind drama of Evi's life and to eventually meeting Jax!
Evi is just trying her best at doing her own thing, cutting herself off from her parents' wealth to pursue her dreams. She gets involved with the wrong guy. A guy who looks good on paper but doesn't treat her right at all. There is a lot of darkness in Evi's life at this stage and I would recommend you check your triggers before reading this.
But soon we see a knight in shining armour in the unlikely form of ex-convict and crimelord, Jax. This is the part where we get the 'touch her and you die vibes', which just so happen to be my favourite! 😍 The steam is all there with these two! And Jax helps Evi be the best version of herself. It's very much he falls first and he falls hard! And I love when the big bad crimelord goes all soft and gooey for her 🥰
A fantastic debut romance novel and I can't wait to read more! Maybe glimpse a bit more inside the Poison Ivy club 👀 and I hope Ryan gets his own book!
reread and its still a solid 5 stars.... still absolutely love Ryan the most 😆 but Jax...can't go wrong with Jax.🫠
Omg. The cliffhanger. 😲😥 This book instantly hooked me in. I couldn't stop reading. Evi goes through a lot in this book. It's hard not to feel for her. She feels broken and lost.. making reckless decisions...but it's others that take advantage of her that's just absolutely devastating and heart shattering...and angry. She wants to live the life she wants, not what her parents want. So after them completely cutting her off from the family because she turned her back on becoming a lawyer...she finds herself following her dreams as an artist, but that turns out to be more difficult than she expected. Than, after landing a job as a bartender, things change....in comes Jax, Mr. Turner. 🫠
Jax...yup. love him. That morally grey protective personality. I couldn't get enough of him. And Ryan, his friend.. I secretly wanted this to be a why choose because I just love Ryan so much too 😆
But that damn cliffhanger! This was so good, a quick read, lots of spice, as well as suspense.
Thank you @sunnybabepr and E.A. Wilde for the arc. 🫶🏻
I had the immense pleasure of reading this book early, and let me just say, WOW! It is a rollercoaster from start to finish that keeps you hooked! You will not want to put this book down because you will just NEED to know what happens next to the loveable main character, Evi. Evi is a character we can all find a bit of ourselves in. The strong need for love, acceptance and validation can lead us down paths we never expected to find ourselves on and at times, like Evi, we may find ourselves completely lost. At times, we all need a little saving. Sprinkled with STEAMY sex scenes that are sure to make you blush, Find Me will keep you coming back for more ;) CANNOT WAIT for Book 2! A definite must read for any lover of dark romance.
This is such a good read, and the cliffhanger. Omg. I can’t wait for the second. If you’re into organized crime and less than perfect FMCs, this is for you.
Evi’s life has always been dictated by others, leading her on a path that seeks her own independence. She just never anticipated how dangerous it could be. Evi’s life is quickly unraveling into a nightmare. A deal that was supposed to help her get back on track is pulling her into a self-destructive cycle. Amidst a haze of sex, drugs, and bad decisions, Evi unexpectedly finds a man whose touch lights a fire within her and she can’t get out of her head. While Evi teeters on the edge of complete self-destruction and losing herself further, this man is there offering salvation and hope.
FIND ME is an utterly gripping story that I truly enjoyed reading. The author shares trigger warnings that I do advise you to take seriously. It’s a heavy read at times and a dark romance.
Let me start by saying that I absolutely adored the dedication to this novel and knew that it promised a good time to come.
FIND ME is narrated in Evi’s POV solely. She is a woman who has led a life of privilege, but also a life where none of her choices were really her own, weighed down by the expectations of her family. As she takes steps to find her own independence and make her own choices… well she gets herself into a world of trouble. Her luck and life spiral, leaving her very isolated and crashing quickly towards rock bottom. Her character is very interesting, flawed, and unstable. I loved her and her journey regardless and was really hoping and rooting for some good to come her way.
Jax is one of my favorite MMCs that I’ve read recently. His characterization strikes a fine balance between caring, doting, and protective with some really hot alpha male, bad boy vibes.
I loved the chemistry and spicy scenes that the main characters share - all very well written. As a special note, I absolutely loved Ryan, and I would adore it if there would be a book about him 😍.
I had a bad feeling growing as the novel was coming to a close and was rightly served with an ending that left me speechless and needing more. I’ll definitely be picking up book 2 ASAP.
I would like to thank SunnyBabePR and the author of this advanced digital copy for the opportunity to read this novel in exchange for an honest review! All opinions expressed are my own.
"Find Me: The Poison Ivy Series Book One" by E.A. Wilde plunges readers into a darkly seductive narrative that explores the depths of desire and the high stakes of redemption. This gripping novel follows the tumultuous journey of a protagonist caught in a whirlwind of self-destructive choices, ensnared in a life that spirals out of control after a deal meant to secure her freedom instead draws her deeper into chaos.
Wilde masterfully constructs a world where every decision teeters between salvation and ruin. The protagonist's yearning for independence and her subsequent descent into a haze of sex, drugs, and poor choices are portrayed with a raw intensity that captures the relentless pull of her internal and external conflicts. Amidst this turmoil, an unexpected figure emerges as a protector—his presence igniting a powerful, almost inescapable attraction that offers a glimmer of hope.
The narrative's strength lies in its complex characters and the palpable tension that Wilde expertly weaves through their interactions. The protector, enigmatic and potentially as dangerous as the darkness enveloping her, becomes a central figure in her struggle between embracing the darkness or seeking the light.
"Find Me" is not just a tale of downfall; it is also a story of potential redemption. It challenges readers to consider the fragile line between control and chaos, and the possibility of finding oneself amidst the ruins of one's choices. E.A. Wilde delivers a potent mix of intrigue, passion, and suspense that ensures readers are captivated from the first page to the last.
This novel is highly recommended for fans of dark romance and psychological thrillers. It promises an emotional rollercoaster that explores the complexities of human desires and the redemptive power of connections. "Find Me" is a compelling start to what promises to be an unforgettable series, making it a must-read for those who are drawn to stories of intense relationships forged in the shadows of life’s darkest moments.
Tropes: Dark Romance “Who did this to you?” Touch her and ☠️ Morally Grey He falls first
And straight onto the next book in the series I go…
I really didn’t know what to expect from this short novella but I was hooked fairly quickly from the off. We join our FMC, Evi, going through quite the change in her life and struggling to make it on her own after being cut off from her very wealthy family. It takes the story quite a while to really get into the relationship between Evi and our MMC, Jax. Instead the story focuses a lot on Rhett (Evi’s ‘boyfriend’) at the beginning of the book.
I did feel for the Evi and how the choices she was forced to make led her to some horrible situations and her upsetting circumstances seem to only continue in book 2, Save Me. Jax has all the makings of a good morally grey MMC but I felt we didn’t really get to know him too well in this book other than he is the most feared crime lord in the city.
I did find Evi a little irritating in places and her friendship with Sam, her best friend, seemed superficial. Sometimes I felt like the friendship just served the purpose of moving the story along rather than there being real depth behind their connection. Additionally, some of the conversations between Evi and Jax were a little pedestrian in places. I felt that Ryan (Jax’s right-hand man), a side character in the book (who fingers crossed will get his own story), had better chat with both of the MCs.
Having said that I did feel like the writing style on the whole was really good for a debut novel and I’m excited to see what comes next and how the writers style will develop.
And that cliffhanger… This book is a heavy set up for the next book in the series and you will want to read the next one straightaway.
Side note: This is a dark romance which touches upon some very serious issues. Please read the trigger warnings and look after you.
*Thanks to Sunny Babe PR for this reader copy in exchange for my honest opinion*
Find Me, the first book in the Poison Ivy series, is a whirlwind of tension, desire, & danger that completely hooked me from start to finish. This dark romance delivers everything I could hope for: a compelling FMC, morally gray characters, found family, and high enough stakes to keep me reeling.
Evi’s journey starts as she drops out of law school, craving independence from a life that was fully planned out for her. Aspiring to be an artist but struggling to make ends meet, she finds herself at the Poison Ivy, a high-end strip club with a gritty, glamorous edge. The club quickly becomes melee than just a job - it’s a haven where Evi discovers a found family reminiscent of Coyote Ugly vibes. However, this new chapter in her life ends up being far from easy.
Evi’s struggle to find herself leads her into a slew of bad decisions, starting with Rhett, whose toxic grip pulls her into a downward spiral that gets darker with every page. Wilde doesn’t shy away from exploring some really dark topics, making Evi’s story both raw and unflinchingly real.
Then there’s Jax - Evi’s boss’s boss at Poison Ivy and the epitome of a morally gray love interest. Jax is dangerous, commanding and utterly magnetic. Oh and let’s not forget Ryan - his golden retriever (or Labrador) sidekick, who stole more than a few scenes. Jax’s protective streak is off the charts. Watching him navigate his growing feelings for Evi while balancing his darker nature had me absolutely captivated.
Between the two of them their chemistry is sizzling but the emotional depth also really hits you. Balancing the tension of their relationship with the emotional turmoil Evi endures makes every moment between them feel earned. And that ending??? Talk about a cliffhanger! Setting the stage for an even darker and more intense sequel that I can’t wait to dive into.
*make sure to read the trigger warnings before reading!
